81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: October 25, 2017, 03:02:34 PM
Hi, I haven't used my VTC wallet for a while and it's out of date.  I downloaded the latest wallet to Sync but not syncing, followed a suggestion to download the bootstrap file. Now it is syncing from local bootstrap, but has got stuck at December 13th 2014, and is not moving.  Any ideas? Also there are zero active connections to the vertcoin network.  Running Vertcoin Core version v0.11.1.0-9c5018b (64-bit)

Good afternoon, please tell me
Does this coin have a payment gateway for accepting payments on the site?
I want to make a project for accepting payments with direct redirection to a cold client wallet
Will this idea be interesting?

Check out Graft Network solution:
http://graft.network

This is not a ready-made solution
I'm interested in the ability to accept payments on the site and also the creation of pesonal invoices

Maybe worth posting your requirements on the official NEM Forum, as that's where most of the NEM experts are.  They should be able to answer for you.  It may be possible to do what you're asking for, as there are already online stores using NEM as a payment gateway.  If you want to make a project proposal, you can do so from the project proposal category - https://forum.nem.io/c/project-proposal

This article is a bit dated and may have already been posted before, but thought it may be of interest as it shows some of the testing that was done on the catapult solution for an enterprise using 10.8 million accounts, reaching 4,000+ transactions per second (consider that Visa averages around 2,000 tps).

NEM once catapult is released - Catapult is a brand new enterprise class blockchain with not only improved performance but an increased cutting edge feature set that is designed for easy development to lower the entry barrier for rapid deployment and adoption. NEM will be the only public blockchain using this advanced architecture and will be the easiest one to integrate with the private version Mijin.

Hmmmm... unfortunately I think he's talking about Dash in this case:

It's not Dash according to the response from Tony

Code:
If the remote node restarts or simply shuts down NIS, you are not harvesting any more. That is the disadvantage of letting a service do the harvesting, you always depend on the service being up and not getting restarted.
yes it is very bad Sad

Well you can always ask an owner of a supernode to add your private delegated key to the supernode config. Then it will always harvest when the NIS on the supernode is restarted.

If you can't contact an owner, then just monitor your harvesting status around the time of an update (these are usually notified on the nem.io forums and on bitcointalk).  This is the time usually when nodes restart after a version update is applied. You can check the nodes version number from searching supernodes.nem.io.  Current latest version is 0.6.91.

This is the same response I wrote when you started NEM.  Cheesy

I suppose 50K is a small dip in the funds compared to the $5mio and $40mio that will be spent on Blockchain centres and marketing.  It would be a good investment if it increases awareness and volume.  Perhaps the NEM foundation prefers slower organic growth, who knows.

It's a drop in the ocean and it's one of the single most important things that money could be spent on. I don't see the point in waiting five years organically growing when it could be on there in a few weeks for such a small outlay.

Western exchange options are pitiful. It needs to change.

I've already said I'd be willing to contribute to a crowd fund to do it.

Crickets.

Perhaps you can propose for it to be voted on like the NEM Framework community proposal?

Kraken can add EOS...with 4 trading pairs...but they can't (or won't) add NEM??  WTF?  Huh

You have to pay them. I've suggested doing so. Dash paid $50,000 in development and listing fees to get on there. As the foundation is sitting on god knows how many millions' worth I don't get why they wouldn't spend a piddling amount like this.

It's odious but it would make a vast difference.

That's crazy charging $50,000 just to list on their exchange.  Fair enough, it will increase volume for NEM, but that is a bit arrogant to ask to pay to be listed, as they will be making money from trading fees anyway.  I haven't seen anything official on their site that states you have to pay $50K, or what the requirements criteria is in order to be listed.
Actually, it is smart, developers of shitcoins have lots of money now and fastest way to increase value of shitcoin is to add it to exchange. So it is win-win for developers and exchanges.

What are the methods of staking in NEM? (staking/mining/masternode)

And what are the minimum coins needed for each of the methods?

Also, is there a known fee reward (estimation) or a calculator?

I am thinking to get into the NEM world.

See the section on nodes to learn more about staking / nodes / harvesting etc:

NEM partners with Blockchain Global.

http://www.econotimes.com/NEMio-Foundation-teams-up-with-Blockchain-Global-to-drive-global-expansion-778676

The NEM.io Foundation, the creator of the peer-to-peer NEM blockchain platform, has entered into a strategic alliance with Blockchain Global, an Australia-based blockchain company operating international auditing and network infrastructure services.

According to the official release, the partnership is aimed at expanding NEM’s reach while facilitating mainstream adoption of blockchain technology internationally. The first initiative under the partnership will be to open a Blockchain Center in August 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to serve as an incubator, accelerator, and coworking space.

“We’re proud to work with the NEM.io Foundation, as we believe their blockchain technology platform is the future standard for mainstream enterprise and organizational infrastructures,” said Sam Lee, CEO of Blockchain Global. “The opening of a nonprofit blockchain center in Malaysia allows both Blockchain Global and NEM to pursue our missions to foster mainstream innovation and adoption internationally.”

The 10,000-square-foot Blockchain Center will house the NEM Blockchain Innovation Lab, a headquarter for research and development as well as regional support for organizations interested in using the NEM platform within their IT infrastructures. Later this year, NEM plans to work with Blockchain Global to develop a cryptocurrency exchange for the NEM ecosystem. Blockchain Global previously built ACX.io, Australia’s largest Bitcoin exchange by volume.

“We’re excited to partner with Blockchain Global in this rapidly evolving blockchain ecosystem,” said Lon Wong, president of the NEM.io Foundation. “This strategic alliance will fuel expanded reach, deeper collaboration, and multiplication of value as we journey towards developing blockchain hubs around the world.”

Based in Singapore, the NEM.io Foundation aims to promote NEM’s blockchain technology globally. It is expected to spend around $40 million in the next year to fund its global expansion programs. $5 million will be allocated towards supporting blockchain companies incubated in the Blockchain Center.

so, are the devs actuallly doing any coding on this?
are there partners developing apps on this?
Why is this the only big currency that is going the wrong way with price?

As I observed NEM is the only crypto in the top without much marketing. Although many believers that NEM have the best technology in crypto. NEM will be announcing its update on Catapult soonish.

There isn't much marketing, but things are happening in the background.  To quote Lon Wong from earlier in the year:

"Despite the seemingly uneventful happenings in the NEM community space, we have been working hard everyday. Previously, I have mentioned that NEM is not a typical crypto project. It is a blockchain technology project with a Blue Ocean strategy approach. The intent is to hit the mainstream. Hence, it would be hard for the NEM crypto community to know what is actually happening. The reason being that these mainstream companies and entities would not like their projects to be announced without being firmed up to use our technology.

NEM has been pretty active in East Asia, particularly in Japan, Malaysia, Korea and China. Together, we have generated more than a few hundred enquiries on our technology. We have interests ranging from central banks (digital fiat currency issuance), financial institutions, share registry and trading, national ID projects, KYC, logistics, IoTs, Robotics, Carbon Credit project (biggest land bank of forest reserve in the world), medical industry, games development, and a host of other industries. I must say that this is most encouraging and our Blue Ocean strategy appears to be working quite well. Just now, we are also beginning to gain traction in Europe with some interests coming from there too. The amount of interest seems to suggest that we are way ahead of many of the competition in the crypto space, especially for mainstream applications. I am confident that we should hit some big projects this year. Our project is multi-prong in its use and therefore cover a wide spectrum of industries".

The bubble is finally bursting.

It seems like when Bitcoin goes down drastically, the altcoins follow.
