You should do more to bring the Bitbay market to the public.

So I still have no idea what it looks like at all.
How does a shop present itself? Like a single article? How do you set up an article?  What are the options?

It is not enough that your market solution is better. You have to define a target group and focus marketing/advertising on this target group.
This is the key to Bitbay's success.

Don't try to compete with ebay/Amazon's target group. No chance. At this point OB also stagnates. It simply does not go on.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: November 16, 2018, 06:21:35 PM
So there's nothing that can be said about effectiveness and reliability, at least that's how I understand it.
The whole thing is so far only an experiment?

Combined search (shoes, leather) is therefore not yet possible.

Also you don't know how the Bitmessage network behaves when thousands of shops, tens of thousands of offers and even more photos (third party providers like imgur etc. are no solution) have to be downloaded to every computer.

Bitmessage is slow. I don't think people would like to synchronize themselves with the network for hours, that means to download all current offers.

Possibly I don't understand the whole process. I will probably have to take a look at it first.

OB is already a fine thing, although there is still a lot to be done.
The centralized search via search provider is a no go. They would like to change it, but they don't know how.
From the little advantageous 2 of 3 Escrow they will probably not disengage.
A combined search there would be desirable and of course an extensive categories and subcategories management.

How would it be if you worked together? From my point of view cooperation instead of confrontation is more effective.

OpenBazaar's target group is more the regulated market, while you should turn to the exponentially growing unregulated market. The latter also makes more sense for non-state crypto currencies. - So you won't get in each other's way with the different target group orientation.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 16, 2018, 08:48:31 AM
A crypto currency that wants to survive concentrates on a corresponding target group. This target group should be defined in advance and the development should be concentrated in this direction.

As soon as there are state crypto currencies, the dream of a mass adoption of free cryptos is over. Free Cryptos will only occupy small niches (if they are able to define them clearly).

There is no clearly defined target group for bite ball. Result:
"Byteball Bytes price equal to 38.946 USD at 2018-11-16, but your current investment may be devalued in the future."

That was a very detailed statement, but unfortunately none of my questions were answered.  Smiley

You don't have to convince me of 2 of 2 Escrow. I recommended this to the developers of OB a year ago.
Since the mentioned difficulties already existed there several times, they now have a selection of verified moderators.

The market will not succeed if it becomes too cumbersome in terms of operation and design.

OpenBazaar has already done that quite well. Easy integration of photos, as much and as big as you want them to be. Appealing design of the shop.
However, there is still a lot missing to really become a competition to the well-known Fiat markets...

We have a lot of user friendly templates on our marketplace... cash for coins, barter, auctions/reverse auctions, goods, services, etc. It's pretty easy actually. When you get a chance to test it let us know.

The only problem is in one big point guys. Many people dont understand who takes the risk if something goes wrong. And how to attract people who do not use cryptocurrency?
This is a snag and who can solve it will become the top one.
By offering goods and services that are not available on the regulated Fiat markets.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: November 15, 2018, 06:21:24 PM
How are articles searched and found?

At OpenBazaar the central weak point is the respective search provider. If articles are blocked by their operator, they are no longer found.

Is your system efficient? That means fast and reliable?

Is a combination of search terms possible, for example "shoes, leather" if only leather shoes would like to have listed?

The tag system of OpenBazaar does not only list shoes, but also everything else where the term "leather" was tagged, so also leather clothing or BDSM stuff.

"IMF says governments could set up their own cryptocurrencies "
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/nov/14/imf-says-governments-could-set-up-their-own-cryptocurrencies

Since bite ball is obviously oriented towards the regulated Fiat markets, what advantages would this currency have over a state-regulated one?

Yes, I'd be happy to do that.
I hope you are open to criticism.  Wink

As for Linux it's on my list of things to do when I finish testing the exchange peg code.
How do I know if this problem has been solved?

Question: How does a sectarian react to fundamental arguments?
Answer: With ignorance. It cannot be what may not be.

Hehe, I can already see the first reputable witnesses leaving the bite ball ship as soon as the trade in drugs and weapons increases, the blackmail potential of crypto currencies first becomes known to a wider public, and the state's security organs are terrified. When, in the course of this, the media strike a big blow: "Strawberries, oranges, pears are prepared with needles. In the last two weeks alone, 23 deaths have occurred. Global blackmail gang demands 100 million USD to be paid in a crypto currency of a project called Byteball."

The publicly known witnesses then come into the focus of an enraged mob.
Threats...  maybe even lynchings...

Have fun in the bite ball echo chamber.  Cool

In a few days/weeks/months the next rounds will come on the subject of witnesses. - Back to the beginning.

The linked article from @jwinterm seems more and more plausible to me.

no need even black bites, people will do it with white balls. All witnesses will be arested, because technically they are the administrators of the payment network used for illegal activities, without requirement KYC and AML for all it's users.

Thank you very much @pineapple express.

Nothing is carved in stone, not even the current bite ball protocol.
There is still time to change the protocol. Unfortunately you tend not to use this time.

We useless lazybones can't do more than point it out.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 14, 2018, 01:20:37 PM
What happens if all witnesses are shut down by state agreements and the further operation of such witnesses is made illegal internationally?
Come on man, when states as a whole agreed to impose something? Are you really scared about that?

Also there would be financial incentives being a "rebel" country. Nash equilibrium.

What consequences does such a scenario have for an inexperienced user of the bite ball wallet who does not read along here in the forum or on Slack or obtain information elsewhere?
Their transactions won't confirm. Not a problem in an almost impossible case.

Same impossibility as reverting bitcoin transactions. Theoretically yes, practically no.

I'll translate the answer:
Without witnesses, the payment system would collapse.

As a result of an international mass adoption (which is what we are striving for) and under the assumption that via black bites contract killers, drugs, weapons, etc. are traded, the witnesses would get into the line of fire as a single point of failures in every state, and would also be just as easily eliminated.
Moreover, it would be questionable whether in such a negative environment reputable witnesses can be found at all.

So let us hope that there is no mass adoption?
In the shadow of Bitcoin and Monero and for a small nerdy target group bite ball could surely survive.

@Random String Symphony

In fact, I understand very little from the technical point of view, and thus I share the state of knowledge with the masses.

What interests me as a layman:
What happens if all witnesses are shut down by state agreements and the further operation of such witnesses is made illegal internationally?

What consequences does such a scenario have for an inexperienced user of the bite ball wallet who does not read along here in the forum or on Slack or obtain information elsewhere?

Byteball gets a shout out by US army:
http://madsciblog.tradoc.army.mil/tag/byteball/

Not really in a positive way, but interesting that they found it it even noteworthy. The article they cite is in Russian, but from the title suggests byteball is under Russian government control.

If you think about it, take the assumption that byteball was funded by Russian intelligence, it was probably a worthwhile venture that collected valuable information and has probably paid for itself many times over.

When Putin for next "decentralized" witness?  Cheesy
Thanks for the tip.
This would explain many things, especially the incomprehensible resistance to cognition.

He was anonymous, the network can't be secured by anonymous witnesses.
I advise everyone not to use a centralized system of twelve openly working witnesses = easy target for state attacks.

I'm sure Bytefan was just trying to help but he did it in the wrong way.
There speaks once again the accustomed arrogance.
Who decides what is right or wrong?

Rogier is not some kind of buffoon, he's a Byteball volunteer since the early days as well.
Nobody cares about that later anyway. People take what is preset. Nobody is involved in the preliminary selection of any witnesses of whom he doesn't know anybody anyway.

Come to your senses at last
- the number of witnesses should not be limited. Anyone who wants to be a witness should be able to do so.
- routes the witnesses over TOR
- client-side, random access to the witnesses

I observe this thread from the beginning and I'm a bit disappointed that there is no community management at all. I once had a few ideas for the bot store, the distribution and posted other things here, for example the observation, that the Byteball Explorer is unreadable for human users at the moment, etc. Maybe the ideas were crap, but you can also discuss that. No reaction from the Byteball team, although this thread has 1055 pages. I am an investor from the depths of the top 50 addresses (richlist from Byteball.fr - the site is also offline since a few days?! ....anotherone who turns away?) and disappointed that there is no reaction at all.

I will sell my byteball funds now and sell all the bytes I have kept for more than a year.

If anyone is interested, she/he can contact me.

Bitcointalk is not really the best place to discuss ideas. For the longest time there was no team and Tony basically had to do everything by himself. He didn't have time for community management, he was working 18 hours a day on the platform. Anyone could and still can become a contributor through github. Only a few people did. Byteball didn't have ICO funds to work with to hire a team so it had to completely depend on volunteers. Of which I was one myself. I recently joined the team though, since we do have some funds now. We discuss most things on our Slack (https://slack.byteball.org/), which is also free for anyone to join.

The biggest problem is that people just sit and wait for their coins to magically increase in value and let other people do all the work. It doesn't work like that. No community management? Volunteer to do community management, et voila, now it's there.
Oh, no, they're critical too. Criticism that is constantly ignored. With the result that the development develops some (currently) useless nonsense and the critics subsequently flee.
What's left are the Slack-sectarians who silence uncomfortable voices.

Had Bytefan not provided the first witness for bite ball and was otherwise very engaged?

That he is now being arrogantly ignored and that instead some buffoon is being presented as the first official witness is likely to explain his reaction.

Thank you for the prompt answer.
I see it on the website right now. Runs across the marketplace.

I should really get closer to the project. Here one seems to have rather the use in the focus.

I am very curious about the market place. I look at it as soon as it runs on Linux again and photos are no longer a problem.
