Thanks, the "daily update" is a great idea! Even if the items are small, at least we know the team is working.
And I would like to point out, that as far as I know (I may be wrong), XC is the only altcoin where their coders are working full-time on the coin. In other words, coding for XC is their day job. I know this is not the case with many other competitor coins.
This is what will push us over the top. And they are all quality devs to boot. |

We always have a lot going on and it's futile to try report everything, but I'll give you regular updates on the agenda.
Today:
- Dan is working on the next update to secure private messaging (EM).
- I'm drafting the new OP for this thread.
- We're updating website materials, the FAQ, etc.

Man.....I feel the need to keep buying up XC. I ran out of BTC this morning (officially), and I've been wondering for the last few hours what I should do. I'm thinking about decreasing a long-term hold by 50%, to put into XC. I hate to say it, but since I've started accumilating XC, my other long-term crypto assets just haven't looked the same. They feel very expendable.
see it as a flight to quality. im in same boat as you, didn't think i would get to buy more at 148. The current prices are silly. Nice. I'd say do it. Prices are at the low point of the ascending trendline. Best time ever. There's even a friendly little sell wall hanging around for your benefit. That little sell wall is gone. In the shitcoin world, you join a forum, you read the news, price is pumped. Release is due, price pumps for 5 minutes, then backs down. Then you move to the next shitcoin. This is behaviour is typical of the scene, and is predictable.
In Bitcoin's first years(even now), nothing was predictable. No1 knew what would happen.
XC's trading laws do not comply with shitcoins' ones, you have a full team actively developing and supporting forums pretty much 24/7, and lots of features yet to come. I am currently holding my XC like others hold their bitcoins, and trade shitcoins accordingly. Where will you be when the XC platform gets delivered? Web 3.0? Can't w8

And when they do, you're panic buying at peak. It's already too late. Better to lose money that way then taking a gamble on a coin that ends up being a piece of shit scam 99% of the time. But to each their own. This is the wild west after all. |

And in this day and age when 99% of all shitcoins being released are scams, no one should ever get involved. I learned my lesson the very hard way about a month back. Saw this and knew from the start that I wasn't going to touch this.
If you're a miner, that's really the only way anyone should touch new coins. If you're just buying off exchanges, don't ever trust new coins. You have to wait until they prove otherwise.

Ideas?
I am staking XC with an unlocked wallet and it still says 31 hours until reward. I have been gone 3 days camping and still says the same thing. Previous to this it did the same thing with a different amount of time. Happened on my previous wallet and I upgraded to the new one and still the same thing.

Patience is all I can really say. I've been stuck on 209 days for 3 days and my weight hadn't changed from "1". I closed the wallet tonight and reopened it. It now says my expected time to stake is 1 hour, and my weight changed to 14706. I'm not worried though....it eventually happens. With my old wallet it took 8 days before I got my first mining stake. It's described as kind of a lottery. It happens sporadically, but no matter how it happens you will get 3.33% annually. Edited to add: With the old wallet I was staking fairly regularly after the 8 days. With this new wallet, I haven't received anything yet, but I know I will eventually. |

If it's unlocked for staking I think you still need a password to send coins don't you?
You Should In Theory but in Practice it does not require it. Try it out for yourself. It was a bug that has not been fixed yet to my knowledge but I did not check in the last wallet releases. I'm the same. Have not tried to send any coins with the updated XCurrency wallet. I know with the older X11 wallet, it did not work correctly. |

Staking:
I don't know why people have a hard time staking. I typically unlock my wallet once every couple of weeks and it stakes rather quickly. I think the people that have a hard time staking are people that are impatient and want to stake quickly because they want to sell their coins. It's so simple if you have the patience.
I'm not impatient I just want to know how it works - and to understand what the wallet is telling me which seems to contradict the 8hrs to 30 days story. Perhaps I'm confusing minting and staking? (If I wanted to sell my coins to trade them I obviously wouldn't bother waiting around 30 days just for 0.3% bonus.) Anyway as I understand it I simply unlock my wallet every week and if the coins have staked then it will appear. I don't pay attention to the timer. Pick one night every 2 weeks or so and unlock your wallet. Lock it back up when it's done. Easy game. But how do you keep the network moving if this is everyones plan? Wallets should be unlocked for staking always, or at least have a separate wallet with a portion of your coins to stake and protect the network. I keep my wallet open 24/7. It is encrypted but unlocked for staking. Though I heard there was a glitch where a payment can be sent even with it locked without having to retype your password. |

Announcing the latest version of the XC App: Rev 2.45! Private transactions now only take 4 minutes (instead of 30). This software is beta. Private transaction features are still under testing. However you cannot lose coins on a private transaction. Please back up your wallet.dat before installing, and maintain a backup of your private keys at all times. For help on this, visit the how-to. These updates are just minor "tweeks" right? So if I'm perfectly happy with the latest wallet, but not the latest update (I'm on the one that was updated on 7/12....I think that was 2.42), that's perfectly fine right? I just personally like to update when there are major upgrades....and if it's working fine for me, why mess with it (is how I look at it). |

When is some proper PR gonna happen?
It's not all about getting paid-for ads in crypto news blogs.
Can I ask, respectfully, for the community to stop suggesting PR strategies? We have one already. It is driven by tech developments and NOT hype. Yes, we will plug the coin. Yes, the community should do so too, since it's in your interest. You can either decide that the XC team is legit and trust us, or you can buy something else. If you think we're legit, then - be patient when you think we ought to announce something but haven't. - trust us, since you have outsider information and can't see our picture well enough to know why and how we're doing things. But please stop offering outsider opinions. It spreads the false impression that we don't have a plan. Why diminish investor confidence? Second that. There's no point producing PR before there's a significant next step to announce - like e.g. rev 2 is finalised. Otherwise it turns into pump - from sudden interest - and dump when everyone decides it was hot air. The ideal is for the PR to produce a step-up in the price on the back of real news, and avoid the slide back down. Otherwise it just produces volatility which puts newcomers off - except day traders obviously. At the moment there's no doubt we are on a long term up-trend (we bounced pretty accurately off the bottom of the channel yesterday) so be happy you have made a good investment with a superb team behind it. I agree with both statements. Issuing PR without a finished product only benefits P&Ders and Day Traders. I'm a long-term investor, so Iwould much rather wait. |
