Perhaps the best option for Ubiq inflation could be POS, with such reward for block and time between blocks.

You might want to read more in this post:

Monetary Policy in Ubiq - January 22, 2017, 04:36:57 PM

As mentioned in the ANN thread:

In Ubiq we wanted to program in the option of staying with Proof of Work indefinitely should it prove to be viable long term.  There are many aspects we will consider in terms of viability such as overall health of the Proof of Work network, and coin distribution, but ultimately we foresee a future where Ubiq may run as a Proof of Work network forever.  With Ubiq we plan on running a Proof of Work network for a minimum of 1 year before considering and evaluating any switch to a Proof of Stake scheme.

Anyone on Suprnova with Claymore ?
I've only "job timeout" after stratum connection Sad

Hmm, I've tested stratum on a few pools. Works fine.

Maybe jump on Ubiq Slack and ask the #ubiq-miners channel. Smiley

THANK YOU TEAM UBQ!

Behind the scene you all were extremely professional in helping me claim UBQ from my JBS stake.

I'm a little sad.  JBS was perhaps the best POS networks/client in the whole of crypto.  There's no reason it shouldn't keep this status.  I realize jyap is focused on UBQ projects, but if an independent group of community members can maintain the basics to respect the quality of product that it was, it would underscore the fact that JBS has a great 'decentralized' designer.

Regarding smart contract networks.  UBQ is in great position to be a very powerful financial services tool.  And the talent behind it is TOP LEVEL.

The future is bright.

Looking forward to being evolved and encourage anyone researching ETH-type networks to consider UBQ.

Indeed JBS was a very good staking network. The value has transferred over to the upgraded Ubiq smart contract platform so this is the best for all involved (past, present and future).

Thank you for your kind words and glad we could get everything squared away!

What advantage does UBIQ have over other smart contract chains?

could somebody answer this question. does ubiq have a chance against the eth tidal wave?

Ubiq offers an alternative. Some of this is covered in the ANN thread and some old posts but I will mention some differentiators.

Some changes:

  • No ICO.
  • Implemented monetary policy. No other ETH fork has an implemented monetary policy.
  • ETH will go PoS ASAP "this year". EXP has PoS in their roadmap for Q2 2017. Ubiq has the option of being PoW forever with the implemented monetary polity.
  • No premine.
  • No bad blood history with the DAO Hardfork.
  • 88 second block time so far less blockchain bloat.  There is still the option for lightning networks which will increase transaction capacity.
  • Flux difficulty algorithm. This makes it work very well for PoW mining and the longer block time.
  • Established community. Over 1000 people in Ubiq Slack.

We will forge our own path and ecosystem.  Everyone is welcome. Smiley

Update — February 28, 2017

One month ago, the Ubiq network was launched on Chinese New Year January 28th, 2017. It’s only been a month but a lot has happened. Here are some recent updates.

Novaexchange voting and exchange listing

This has gone very well and Ubiq successfully achieved 250 out of 250 required votes in a bit over 1 week. This is remarkable as many coins on that Voting list have languished for months with very few votes. Many coins also get disqualified for rigging the vote process. We are grateful that we have a diverse and committed community. Smiley

Mine with Claymore miner software

Block 30,000 has kicked in and you can now mine with Claymore miner. Every 30 thousand blocks represents an “epoch” in the Dagger Hashimoto mining algorithm. When this switches over the DAG size increases. Importantly, Claymore miner didn’t support Epoch 0 but now we are fully supported!
This allows miners to mine solo with Claymore or dual mine Ubiq and another coin such as Decred, Sia, LBRY or Pascal.

Telegram group

There have been discussions about a possible Telegram group. Out viewpoint is that there can be one made but it would need to be run unofficially. We already have a strong real time chat presence with Slack but we aren’t against having a Telegram channel as we understand lots of people prefer it.

Fast chain syncing

I took a look at supporting fast chain syncing (the “ — fast” flag) one night last week. This isn’t a crucial but a “nice to have feature” that only benefits initial sync. Having researched it and looked at the code, I realized it’s kinda tricky because it fetches and processes headers out of sequence. Ubiq is different because it inspects a past window of block headers when calculating difficulty so it essentially fails.
It comes down to it not being a quick fix to get this implemented. It would probably require changing the code to explicitly download all the headers first and then processing them.

Fusion GUI wallet

Our Fusion GUI wallet was recently released. Luke writes about it more in a blog post.
Dapps for on chain governance
One aspect of Ubiq that I will be focussing on is devising a plan for Dapps for on chain governance. These are planned to be primarily smart contract based as opposed to protocol based which would require a hard fork.
Some items of note:
Stake based voting
Bounties
Funding development
Proposals
Official statements

We have a lot more things to cover over time.

Thanks for following along. Smiley

Wasn't gembitz the one hyping up Ubiq like crazy before the swap? He was saying like 0.001 or 0.01 Ubiq price.

uhuh, he sends me dm's every day about how he invented drum and bass and made love to the grateful dead every night on the tour bus. it's a weird situation that I just ignore.

he thinks I know him or something.

Trolls on this Bitcointalk thread

Just to recap:
We made a conscious decision to make this an unmoderated thread.  As such it is open to the public to act as they please so take anything you read from a random poster with a grain of salt.  The Ubiq team and community does not engage in using sock puppet Bitcointalk accounts.  There are pros and cons with this unmoderated approach but we maintain our viewpoint that we are a long term project and there will be short term and long term people involved with the coin.  We are primarily focussed on the long term participants.

The best place to interact with the community is Ubiq Slack.  Sign up at: http://slack.ubiqsmart.com/

Here is what you can do to counteract trolls.

1. Ignore them.
2. Report them to the Bitcointalk moderators. With enough reports from different people, the moderators will listen and delete their comments and/or ban their accounts.

After you Ignore a user it looks much more pleasant like this. Cheesy

Unfortunately there are only so many shifts that a person can work at Walmart per week as a "Part Time Associate". This leaves certain individuals with a lot of time on their hands during the day.  As a group, we can do what we can to combat this.

I have put up this alternate block explorer for Ubiq at http://www.ubiq.cc

It's also got a pool integrated into the explorer page, but the pool is just getting up and running so it's just me mining there at the moment.

Enjoy and let me know if there is anything else you'd like to see on the site.

Thank you. This is beautiful.

Added pool and explorer to OP.

Cheers,

Genoil: https://github.com/Genoil/cpp-ethereum/tree/110
Ethminer: https://github.com/ethereum/cpp-ethereum

Flux Difficulty Algorithm review and network recap

The version v1.5.10 hard fork activated on block 8000 with no issues. Thank you to pools, miners and users who upgraded in a timely manner.

Below we can see the current difficulty curve so far and we can see 3 distinct sections.

The first section represents the default Digibyte Digishield algorithm which did not fare well at all on a large network.  The second section represents the Digibyte Digishield algorithm with modified parameters which was an improvement but still not good enough.  Upon further inspection we also found that Digibyte Digishield was not working properly with Zcash either with very high difficulty fluctuations.  With the Flux Difficulty Algorithm™ we went back to the drawing board and designed a new solution.

The Flux Difficulty Algorithm is brand new code and is one of the innovations of the Ubiq network.  Prior to Ubiq there have been other Ethereum forks which were attacked as they did not have an adequate difficulty algorithm which was able to dynamically adjust to hash rate.

Below is the current snapshot of the network.

In the screenshot we can see that blocks are moving smoothly with a block time of 88.15 seconds and hash rate of 46.8 GH/s averaged out over the last 1000 blocks. There are currently 70 peers seen on the network in various geolocations around the world.

Bittrex market opening Wednesday, February 8th at 12pm PST

Ubiq balances have been populated and trading will commence on Bittrex on Wednesday, February 8th at 12pm PST.  The exchange wallet will be open prior with advanced notice so that you may deposit or withdraw Ubiq.  We will start off with 80 confirmations for deposits for security reasons as Ubiq is a new network.

Feel free to submit Ubiq as a candidate for listing on your favorite exchanges.

Thank you for your support.
