81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rifiuti's CPU coins to Mine (2018-2019) on: November 29, 2018, 03:22:45 PM

Not spamming, just voting for GRC. Legend in comparison to shitcoins from Your list. Besides, I'm eager to see Your calculation that shows it's unprofitable to mine.
BTW, my signature is giving much more than taking...

What a biased view. I'm not going to lay out any kind of calculation here, test and see it yourself.

YOU did statement that "GRC is unprofitable to mine". No calculation. No proof. Conclusion: Your list is worthless bias...

My list is built without bias because I'm not in favour in any coin, I just mention by the name and the link.

Is there any coin mineable with unused cellular phone?

Yes... Take a look at Stellite and JSEcoin - Both are cell phone mineable

So, as Electroneum and any Cryptonight fork. I can't see any incentive to mine with cell phone.

I've accumulated several thousand JSEcoin coins mining on my phone. Not enough to retire (haha) but more than I had before. As long as you have unlimited data might as well accumulate some extra coins

You realize max supply is 10 Billion, right? Several thousands doesn't really mean anything and since you can't scale with phones(even if you would, that be stupid).

I don't think so.

Depending on the BOINC project that you select, some of the projects used for Gridcoin (GRC) mining are "CPU only"

Other benefit of GRC mining is that the work done is towards scientific progress and not just wasteful hashing.

Grid is such an old project and quite unprofitable to mine.

Yup, GRC is long in the tooth, but that may not be a bad thing especially with so many coins that promise so much but disappear within a year! Smiley

The fact that GRC is "unprofitable" to mine but yet still surviving for so long is evidence that there is a strong community supporting the belief that a cryptocurrency rewarding useful work is sustainable in the long run.

GRC also has a PoS wallet in the event that investors prefer to be bag holders rather than crunching research.

True but main purpose of this thread introducing people to fairly new, not much known coins so they can mine before the coins become more mainstream.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: November 27, 2018, 04:43:12 PM

Is the drop due to the saying by Calvin Ayre that they will give up on the Bitcoin Cash, and concentrate on the Bitcoin version of the Satoshi Vision? So he will wage a war against Bitcoin instead of Bitcoin Cash? That could damage more to the bitcoin itself.

I am quite sure that most of it is being driven by Jihan Wu financing his "War on BCH-SV" coupled with Bitmain cashflow issues and having to dump a ton of their BCH (and probably other coins as well) horde.

I have never understood the whole "BCH" junkcoin push by Wu - it's not like cryptocoin NEEDED yet another junkcoin, and the only reason BCH ever got any traction at all was Bitmain FORCING it to be used to buy their miners for quite a while.

Most likely the reason why Bitmain holds so much BCH is because they got greedy and didn't sell at $3000-4000 last year when Coinbase added it.

I am sure they sold it in small quantities but not enough. They were probably expecting $10000 BCH and were going to sell it done. Their BTC they probably sold way too early and didn't get a chance to sell at $20K.

The WU is a pretty smart individual but everyone makes bad investment decisions from time to time.

Does anyone actually know how much BCH Bitmain holds?  The reports of Bitmain's financial demise have all been speculation, and mostly coming from opponents in the recent fork.  I'm sure they hold plenty of crypto but without a doubt Bitmain has sold a substantial amount.  They aren't paying their distributors, shippers, employees, rent, and taxes in crypto.  Holding an extreme amount of cash reserves in a volatile crypto would certainly be a fools errand.

They hold little over a million (%5.7 of the supply);

Really good list OP, now that I am thinking I have one core i7 6700 which I will not use heavily for mining but during night time I will let it run. Also have some gen 4 processors unused at work which I have access so will give it s try, I am the IT so no one can say anything against it, I am the only IT there.

Thanks, I'm trying to introduce unique ones rather than already known coins.

Do the ones in bold signify anything?

Yeah, new and unique ones. The bold ones indicating the ones managed to stay under radar, which makes them more and more profitable if one mined it.

Hi, the ulord link takes you to a miner not a wallet. Tried to find wallet, but only listed on a all Chinese site, cannot download wallet....seems strange
Do you have windows wallet please? Also miner has been flagged on various sites as having a virus ( I know its usually a false positive, but this seens real).

Here is a pool: ulord.jeepool.com
Here is the wallet repo: https://github.com/UlordChain/Ulord-platform/blob/master/doc/ulord_wallet_en.md

How can I get for myself and give others a mining discount?

Mining discount? Not sure if you understood how the referral mining works buddy.

I'm even more curious to know why Bitmex decided to push something like this. Super super weird.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 👽 [ANN][BIS]Bismuth - New Language, Free DAPPs, Cryptopia, BiteBTC on: October 23, 2018, 12:15:59 PM
First python blockchain, it is not easy to develop and improve after all but I see the community, coin and coin devs stronger and wiser after two years.

All Bismuth needs attracting more talented python devs to increase the speed of development.

I was curious to try this for ethash, but it doesn't work under Ubuntu 16.04 for me with CUDA 9.1 and 390.48 drivers. Error is "Failed to initialize miner for device 0, with err: Failed to create solver"

Code:
[INFO] [2018-10-16T20:32:48+03:00] Subscribed to stratum server

I tried adding "-devices 1" and get the same thing:

Code:

No problems with ethminer or claymore.

Any clues?

Please update CUDA to 9.2 or above, and update the Nvidia driver as well if the problem still exists.

I have the same problem and my CUDA is 10. PATH set correctly as well. Drivers are updated too. Every single miner software out there works fine, but your miner is just causing crash.
