83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Concerned BTC holder: are different versions of the Bitcoin protocol compatible? on: December 15, 2015, 12:32:34 PM
All of this fuss because of the hard forks doesn't have to be feared by the common user.
All your money is saved by the blockchain. What could happen is that, if no advice were given, you could pay with in the old blockchain, receive a product, and on the new blockchain this transaction never happened, meaning that the vendor lost his money. Hard to occur that, but still possible.
84  Local / Brasil / Re: Bitcoin related info needed on Brazil - Please help! Bounty offered!! on: December 14, 2015, 12:44:18 PM
12. Canyou mention any payment providers allowing instant deposits of Lira, or from Lira to USD, EUR or other? (100)

You're probably mentioning the local currency, what in the case of Brazil we have Brazilian Real (BRL).
I can't remeber a payment processor, but in Brazil you can pay most things with a "boleto bancário", which is proof of debt with all the info like who is going to pay, to which bank account it will go and etc. "PagueComBitcoin" (PayWithBitcoin) is a payment processor which you send Bitcoin and they pay your "boleto", but they are built on top of Coindesk automated system to receive the Bitcoin.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So...bitcoin is now a national currency on: December 14, 2015, 12:34:23 PM
Comon.. this is a joke.. Its a family of 4 people

Thank God, at least one not hyped comment.
86  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: DUVIDA TRANSAÇÃO BITCOIN (Usando Bitcoin Core) on: December 14, 2015, 11:15:31 AM

87  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin halving: how will it impact the bitcoin ecosystem? on: December 11, 2015, 10:29:25 AM
IF i was a speculator, i would buy as much bitcoins as i could right now, keep them untill after the halving and sell them when the price has risen...

I'm pretty sure prices will rise dramatically, since the supply will be smaller while the demand will (hopefully) rise... Pushing the price upwards.
The main question is: will the price be high enough for mining farms to still be profitable. This is a question that is much harder to answer.

This prediction is very wrong, because you're assuming the main volume of the market is made by only the mining operation, what isn't true.
The truth is that the price, if it will ever rise, it'll be in a small amount.

The last halving it needed a few months before the price ever changed, and it's not necessarily by the halving's fault.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi returns, says he's not Craig wright on: December 10, 2015, 03:20:46 PM
'We are all Satoshi.'. Really bro?  It's probably true that email was hacked.
This.
Most accounts of satoshi have been hacked trough the years, and now that he left everything with the name Satoshi, we should just accept that we will never see Satoshi again, because even Satoshi himself can't prove to be him except for the million BTC that we believe that he has.

and we will continue to be without the base data that garzik's 102 would provide
And also without the 1+ hour long block validations a simple "just increase the constant to 2MB" enable. Smiley

But BIP102 stills a hard fork, with all the stress of needing to everybody upgrade their Bitcoin servers ASAP, no?

And sorry, but why the blocks would need more than 1 hour to validate? This segregate witness proposal is that bad?
90  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Segregated witness - The solution to Scalability (short term) on: December 09, 2015, 07:27:36 PM
Lauda, can you update the OP with the detailed explanation of the idea?
I'm sometimes just too lazy to search it to remeber exactly how would be made this idea.
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should people use Bitcoin? on: December 09, 2015, 07:25:22 PM
It's the best way I can receive money that is from another country, to avoid ridicously high taxes and bank fees.

93  Other / Meta / Re: change profile name on this forum? on: December 08, 2015, 11:09:18 AM
Can I change my profile name on this forum?
I would like to replace it and I've been messing about with but still I do not know how  Undecided

Donate 50tbc to the forum, or create a new account with the name you want.
Still not sure if the "Donator" status allows name change or not, anyone knows about the "powers" of a Donator.
P.S: If you don't know yet, donators are people who Donated only 25 BTC as opposed to 50 BTC for VIP
Wrong, Donator was 10BTC. Still is, but I don't know if anyone wants a green coin on the forum for over 3K bucks.
94  Other / Meta / What's up with all those spam bots? on: December 08, 2015, 11:07:51 AM
God, since yesterday the forum is having a good amoutn of spam bots, this is annoying.
Can anything be done, except manually ban them, like trace origin IP?

50 btc okay that's a bit steep for a name change.

It wasn't that expensive a couple years ago when the policy was created.  The powers decided not to change the donation amount to keep up with price changes.

Why is that?

To preserve the glory from the people that donated back in the old days. Just kidding.
It was already discussed to have a "newer" VIP rank, to reduce the amount of BTC to be one, but have the same benefits but making easy to see if the person donated recently or in the past.
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain disruptions on: December 07, 2015, 10:24:54 AM
I like that idea of charities. Gaming also makes sense. Obvious one is property / ownership / notary of assets on the blockchain - both for transferring and just as proofs.

It's useful but I don't think that an open ledger is nice.
Like, everybody will see the public address "hey, that guy is rich, lets steal him"
The blockchain would be needed for internal use, and then, benefits of using an internal blockchain is unkown to me.
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A flaw in bitcoin, if it became widely adopted 21m bitcoins, 7b people on planet on: December 03, 2015, 07:28:49 PM
The only real problem is that with miner fees.
If we have mass adoption, rise in price, what will happen to the fees and output priority?
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: block halving date on: December 03, 2015, 03:06:00 PM
If bitcoin halving doesn't happen on exact date than how bitcoin clock calculate the exact date 2016-07-22? Quite confusing to understand this one. It is supposed to happen on july next year as i know from long time ago.
However, the hashrate would probably increase for every difficulty period right now and the blocks will be slightly faster. Overtime, the estimated time will decrease due to the shorter block intervals during each difficulty periods.

The truth is, the average is 10 minutes, but its common to have block solved in like 1 minute.
And it's a matter of "luck", not because the total hashrate increased.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: block halving date on: December 03, 2015, 12:35:54 PM
bears in mind that this is an estimation, it will kick-in early than the countdown, not too much early though

hi hamp!!!
if so, you think who price will rise after this date?
and if a lot off miners switch off his networks because they can't earn enough???
what will happen?

i think it will rise early, before the halving will be in play

don't worry about miners, they can take profit, even if the halving was going to enter tomorrow and the price was the same as it is right now

And how are you so sure of that?
I know that most miners are big players, still, having 50% of the reward is a big drop.

because it is already happening  Grin, someone is artificially fixing the market in preparation of the halving, and possible swings that may occur

even litecoin halving did produced an increase, which one quite good(x10 almost), i'm expecting a similiar scenario minus the x10, but more along the line of a return to 1k or around it

I'm not so sure of that...
Last halving the price was stable for a while, I mean a few months, before anyting changed.
I don't know if they saved their last 50BTC rewards before selling or what, but truth be told that this is very uncertain on what will happen to the market.
