81  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which wallet to use ? Tired of Blockchain on: November 21, 2016, 09:08:45 PM

NO - NO - NO

Never, ever use Coinbase as a wallet.

Stop telling people to use it, you have no control over it, no control over your BTCs and no way to recover your coins if Coinbase is offline.

Coinbase has never gone offline as far as I know and it is one of the safest online wallets out there.

Electrum and multibit are desktop wallets.

*Achum* Mt. Gox *Achum*

(Same principe at least).

@OP: Either Electrum or Multibit (HD) is best suited for your wishes.
82  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Best wallet for a Raspberry Pi on: November 21, 2016, 09:00:50 PM
Hey guys,

I'm getting my Raspberry Pi 3B tomorrow and I was wondering which wallet is best suited for this lightweight and simple machine.
Obviously it has to run a client like Electrum or Multibit, but I'm not entirely sure if these do run on it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Peace
83  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Manipulation is real on: November 21, 2016, 02:02:19 PM
Its back to $736 right now, I'm not sure if its just normal trading influence or if there is really some manipulation going on, but if its manipulation that it seems one group wants BTC to fall while the other group wants its to rise  Huh or is that too paranoid sh*t lol

I'd love me some good theories. But honestly, I think a lot of people just decided to sell it all at once, because it fluctuated around $750 so much (going slightly down, slightly up). That caused the price to drop pretty quickly.

Now that the prices were lower again ($714 I believe), people bought it again and so the cycle continues.
Hopefully we'll reach $1000 again in January 2017.
84  Economy / Economics / Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins on: November 21, 2016, 01:55:56 PM
I never got as rich that I'll be able to say: I got so much that I can't spend it in one lifetime.
However, I made enough that will make me able to get a nice car.

And making back ups regularly goes without saying for most people I guess.  Smiley

I always keep a backup on external hard drive. I also have a paper wallet, kept in a safe as cold storage. I never keep big amounts in a hot wallet, but that's obvious.

Talking about restoring old wallets, yes - you must never delete old wallet files. Better keep them on a USB drive as backup.

For better "watching" of these addresses, you can create bookmarks for all old addresses on Blockchain.info and keep checking balances every month or so, just to see if someone has sent something to any old addresses.

Checking on Blockchain.info is even quicker then restoring the entire wallet Wink.
About your safe, I hope you pinned it to the ground, because small safes are often prone to theft.

Hey there,

I recently dug up some of my old wallets of which I thought they were empty. I was going to delete them instantly (as they were empty anyway), but I decided to restore my wallet and let it re-sync.

Long story short, it suddenly deposited a few hundred dollars worth of BTC in my wallet.

For everyone that has Multibit HD (or Classic) wallets, you can restore it by doing the following:

1. Open up your Multibit wallet
2. Click on: Manage wallet
3. Click on: Recover wallet

Most of you might already know about this, but consider it as a reminder that something could always go wrong.
Maybe you'll get lucky, like I did.

Peace

I lost some wallets in the beginning but now I save them all on 2 external hard drives just in case my pc crashes again.
I never delete old wallets myself because I never know if someone send something to one of  my old addresses.

And making back ups regularly goes without saying for most people I guess.  Smiley

Having wallets on external hard drives is a smart thing to do as well, as long as you encrypt the corresponding files of course.

For most of us, making back-ups goes without saying, but you'll be surprised to know how many people don't back-up their computers (or important files) at least weekly.
I just thought I'd create this topic to bring some attention to the topic that you could possibly lose money that could be used for important things, like paying your medical bills.
87  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [Selling] Sr. Member with unique #1 Google Search Rank on: November 21, 2016, 01:24:27 PM
Hey there,

I'm selling a Sr. Member account.
It has an unique feature. If you search for: Cheap Microsoft Keys
It'll result in a #1 rank on Google. This will work for other search terms regarding cheap keys as well.

I'm looking to sell this account for $100 due to it's uniqueness. It can make you a lot of money.
Please contact me through PM or through Skype: jake.fxr

Well that was easy... This is topic that popped up on google search (link) If this is really account in question (link) I think you should mention that you scammed other users with that same account and that account got negative 4 trust since that is something that will greatly impact potential buyers decision.

If someone is interested in buying this account regardless ask for private keys of staked address and escrow is advised since you can find this in account trust rating:

Reports from users that the keys he is selling are not working and he will not give refunds (as I mentioned in my last feedback.) See reference.

Hi,

I have to inform you that this account was given to me and I thought it could be worth something.
I haven't looked into the account's past, but now that I see this, it seems like a bad idea to sell it so I will remove this post.

Please lock this topic.

89  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How will Bitcoin 1.0 look like? on: November 21, 2016, 12:45:45 PM
I think if bitcoin will go mainstream, there will be a much fuster development and maybe we reach 1.0 in 10-20 years.

I second this, but on the other hand, mainstream adaptation might not happen until we reach 1.0.
Think about it, after the hype of continued development games was over, the interest in such games was lost quickly as well.

People want finished products and giving the client the 1.0 trademark could possibly help it becoming mainstream more quickly.
Numbers can influence people a lot, although that number isn't based upon anything.

A good example of the influence of numbers is pricing.
For example, 9/10 people would rather buy a cookie for $0,99 then a cookie that's $1,00.

For the best future of BTC, I believe they should release a 1.0 version as soon as possible.
