81  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] Steam account valued $180 for 12.99 BTC or best offer over 8 BTC on: May 17, 2012, 04:08:36 AM
In fact, I'll sell the account for 9.99 BTC instead of 12.99 BTC.
82  Economy / Invites & Accounts / [WTS] Steam account valued $180 for 3 BTC on: May 17, 2012, 03:53:33 AM
Greetings all,

Here's my account: http://m.ddgamer.com/worth.php?account=sigmundfraud

I can't game on my current laptop, and I was never a big gamer so this account is sort of going to waste. I played most of these games for a few days and then quit.

The games cost ~$180, and I'm willing to sell for 12.99 BTC (~$65) 9.99 BTC (~$50) or best offer 6 BTC or 3 BTC + $10 via Amazon Payments 3 BTC by Friday at 12:00 a.m. EDT.

A little bit of extra cash by Friday would be extremely helpful to me, hence me selling this. Please, buy it by then.

Thanks,
John Maguire

Since the new forum software will never actually get written (or be usable if someone attempts it) can we please get some real forum software working for this place until this hypothetical software is written?  It's been months since the project was "started" and there's been no movement.  It will be years more before there is anything even vaguely usable, if ever... so in the interim, I propose moving to modern, secure (at least more secure, anyway), feature rich forum software.

You can take your pick, since literally any forum software is an improvement over SMF.
Now THERE'S something to +1!

My personal recommendation is xenForo, but I'm partial to modern-looking websites.

I was just going to suggest xenForo. It's a terrific forum software.

Here are the kinds of posts I have an issue with:

This one by mem:

Wow another e-tantrum directed at MTGOX from a dodgy user - big surprise.

Result will either be

A) MTGOX had legit delays, resolves it and the big sook gets his 26k
B) MTGOX ask for ID, Inaba refuses and posts another e-rant.

Seriously, grow the fuck up, You tell everyone to accept delays from BFL but you wont wait 3 weeks for them to resolve an international money transfer issue ?

EDIT: Oh well done for reading the MTGOX FAQ, that rant seems a bit stupid now doesnt it ?

That could have been expressed in a more tolerant way.

This one by the joint:
Quote from: the joint
Do you like being stupid?

(Pretty much in response to the first one I listed.) Just pointless namecalling.

Or this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=81939.msg902922#msg902922

Basically, these people might hold valid opinions. But to swear and namecall just leads this forum to people yelling at each other, and doesn't get to the core of issues. It reduces this forum from a place for intelligent free-thinkers (Bitcoin isn't for everyone) to a place for people to "troll", which in reality is people just bitching at other people.

Can we please put in a rule of "have some fucking respect"?

This shit is hilarious.
86  Economy / Marketplace / [ANN] Make Bitcoins Fast - Indexing site for "faucets", simple gambling, etc. on: May 16, 2012, 02:51:36 PM
Hello everyone,

I am here to announce my latest project which has been up for a few days now, Make Bitcoins Fast. I am trying to index many of the "faucets" which have sprouted up (e.g. CoinAd.com, Daily Bitcoins, etc.) as well other sites which make it easy to make a quick Bitcoin (e.g. Bitcoin Toss if it wasn't so controversial now.)

If you believe your site should be listed, comment with a link in this thread. Please also give a short description (will likely be slightly modified), and whether a referral service is offered or not, as that is something I include in descriptions.

I'm also offering ad-space on the website through Operation Fabulous, currently at only 0.005 BTC a day.

Yours,
John Maguire
87  Economy / Services / Re: [BOUNTY - 25 BTC] : read only blockchain patch for bitcoind on: May 16, 2012, 02:39:20 PM
Why not have a flag in each client "Download blockchain" and a path to where the Blockchain (should) reside. That way those without the checkmark simply try to read the file, and those with the checkmark read and write to the file.
88  Bitcoin / Project Development / Interesting Penetration Testing Logs on: May 16, 2012, 02:21:57 PM
Hey guys, thought I'd share this with you... I only recently started my site, Make Bitcoins Fast, and already I've been... pen tested? It looks more like they were testing to see if I was related to some other sites like the Bitcoin Faucet, MineField, and a lotto game. Anyway, here's the pages they tried requesting (which resulted in a 404):

I'm not worried or anything, I'm just curious what you guys think this might be? Why would people be testing to see if my site is one of those sites?
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Critical vulnerability (denial-of-service attack) on: May 15, 2012, 04:46:18 PM
Isn't Bitcoin meant to be public or something, not 'public when you want it to be'?

Fact is, a lot of software companies would never make it public. You're free to try to find the vulnerability in the code yourself, but nobody is obligated to tell you what it is. The code is public. Go read it.

Additionally, it will be made public. It's unimportant the details of what happened as long as a fix has been released. (At least in the short-term.)

One shit sandwich? $4.25
One Russian hooker? $200
One illegal kidney? Over $1 million

My reputation? Priceless
Your reputation? 25 BTC

Hahaha, this is awesome.

So is the corrected one by Blazr.

lightlord, why exactly do you type and have the same grammatical errors, etc. as bulanula?
91  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is there a way to use bitcoin to pay for Adult Friend Finder subscription? on: May 14, 2012, 10:41:19 PM
His... privacy? When he posted on here that he wanted to buy an AFF subscription? XD
92  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Announce] new ad supported bitcoin faucet mycryptcoin.com on: May 14, 2012, 10:24:35 PM
Tried entering my address and solving a captcha, s3 page didn't show anything but the header. Went to View Transaction History and don't see anything there either. What's going on?

Once it's working, I'll add it to Make Bitcoins Fast.

EDIT: Just received coins. For anyone wondering as I don't see it listed on the site, it's 0.0001 BTC (that means the 5000% one will be .5 BTC.)

EDIT 2: As tosku pointed out, it could be either 0.005 BTC (my bad with the 5000% calculation) or 0.5 BTC. Both are referenced in the main post.

Yeah, but why would I want to advertise when I can just do this?

95  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] BuyBIT - Unofficial .bit registrar on: May 13, 2012, 10:22:14 PM
I believe (I've talked to Someguy123 outside of this thread) that you can buy with either NMC or BTC. The reason for allowing BTC is called proxy-buying. Smiley It's convenient for end users, and I guess currently he can cover the funds for the NMC.

Also subscribing to this, and vouching for the fact that Someguy123 has put a lot of effort into making the process of buying a .bit domain simple.
96  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [ANN] Spotifycoin.com: Purchase Spotify Premium with bitcoins on: May 13, 2012, 07:22:55 PM
Very nice feature, and site looks slick and simple. One of the best uses of Bootstrap I've seen.

I wish you luck. Smiley
97  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Inquiring] Selling PHPCO.IN on: May 13, 2012, 07:18:00 PM
According to the Sand Dollar exchange I use, 30,000,000 sand dollars = 0.50BTC
Aye, but you didn't bid the BTC equivalent of 1 million sand dollars, you bid 1 million sand dollars.
98  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: how to generate a valid private-key + recv address in PHP? on: May 13, 2012, 06:48:25 PM
https://github.com/mikegogulski/bitcoin-php/blob/master/src/bitcoin.inc#L567

this uses a bitcoind as a backend and just queries that to get a new address so that could be an answer

I think hamdi's whole price is that he doesn't want to have to use bitcoind. And he doesn't have to. Now whether someone is going to write a script for him for free or not is the question.

Are you putting out a bounty for this? Tongue

I just made a bet, won, and then saw this thread, and thought all hope was lost. Then I received my winnings.

Granted, it was a .01 bet, so it's not much, but here's the info on it...
