801  Economy / Speculation / Re: China is back in the game, the big rise starts tomorrow! on: February 23, 2014, 10:42:45 PM
I thought the btcchina deposit was restored a month ago?

Unfortunately, the third party payment processors are still unavailable. These were the method of deposit used by americans operating high frequency trading bots. There will be no chinese revival until the payment processors are restored.

803  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CoinLab vs. Mt. Gox lawsuit for $75 million is still underway. on: February 23, 2014, 05:15:07 PM
After appeals and a retrial, this case will conclude by 2018 at the earliest.

806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 22, 2014, 04:18:21 PM

yes this has me worried as well

but gox said it would impose daily limits

sooooo.... tricky times indeed.

If the limits are stupidly low and/or change without warning, we are going to see some epic volatility.
807  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 21, 2014, 02:39:16 AM
Gox is trolling Internet. Wisdom Gox works but when I try to change it to other exchange it doesn't work  Grin

Expect Stamp to troll Gox with dumps once withdrawals resume.

810  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why are the prices plummeting? Is it due to gox, overstock not accepting btc on: February 21, 2014, 01:38:05 AM
Gox isn't crashing. You're looking at the chart upside down.
811  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 20, 2014, 09:54:47 PM
Will the price ever be $1k again on Stamp?

How long will that take? Wondering if it will be worth the wait. Why and when, or why not?

summer

Next US debt ceiling debacle in March 2015.

Let the dumping begin ! 12 million up for grab till we get to the fun prices !

Fully prepared to eat my words here, but I'd say the dumping on Gox is probably just about over.

Not if that wall at $110 falls...

First, let me compliment your screen name. Probably my favorite line from Dune.
Your questions are all good and I hope my previous answers mostly addressed them. Just a few additional notes: 1. We hope regulatory clarity will attract exchanges to the United States. I suspect that they are staying offshore right now because they don't know what the rules of the road here are or will be. 2. We do hope that regulation will create a level of certainty that could incentivize banks to promote not stifle these innovations. I also suspect there are banks who are quite interested in the technology but are being risk averse for now in the absence of regulatory clarity. 3. I think Secretary Lew was expressing that money laundering, in whatever form, needs to be dealt with seriously.

 Shocked
BULLISH AS FUCK!!!!!!!!

I think Bitcoin or the underlying technology has a lot of potential on numerous levels. As Professor Athey said at our hearings, even the experts don't know today how the technology will evolve and what it will ultimately look like. But I do think it holds a lot of promise (if money laundering can be adequately addressed), both on its own and in terms of causing existing payments system technologies to up their game. I've personally evolved a lot on the issue the more I have learned. I wouldn't compare it to a Rocky-IV-final-scene about-face and it has taken time for all of us at DFS to get our minds around it, but certainly our views have changed.

Stamp is going down further. But below $500 very unlikely.

There is no floor for Gox though.

Did bitstamp ever support deposits through bitinstant?
Yes it did, you could use Bitinstant to arg between Gox and Stamp

That might be why some are having issues withdrawing bitcoins from Stamp. Gox was freezing accounts associated with bitinstant before the malleability shitstorm.
819  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone else got bitstamp btc withdrawal problems? on: February 20, 2014, 03:36:33 PM
For those who cannot withdraw: what methods of deposit have you used?
