801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.13.2 Released on: January 05, 2017, 12:24:13 AM
can the core handle in the future an embedded blockexplorer, so we don't need to go to blockchaininfo and akin?
Core already has a block explorer of sorts built in. If you enable the transaction index with -txindex in the startup command, then you will be able to use the debug console to lookup the details of any transaction and block that your node has received and accepted.

If you want a nice looking GUI and all, that probably won't happen.

interesting, but apparently it's incompatible with the prune mode for clear reasons, so i need to dl the blockchain again

When you enable txindex for the first time it causes core to reindex. Which on a pruned node, requires you to redownload all missing blocks. It might work just fine after that, but I havent tried it.
802  Other / Meta / Re: What's your "Report to Moderator" % rate at? on: January 04, 2017, 08:37:12 PM
Here are the top 50 reporters by total good reports.
Would it be in any way possible to get an updated version of this list?
Stats out for reporters?!
Time for another round, I guess.
I think this marks me as #2 (after sho) with over 10k reports.
Code:
You have reported 10003 posts with 99% accuracy

Nice, lets see who gets 20k first. Smiley

Code:
You have reported 10783 posts with 97% accuracy

804  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed lost, but have password.... on: January 04, 2017, 08:22:02 PM
Hello everyone, affirmative I'm using Electrum. I finally found the wallet file but, it`s a wallet.py

Thats not your wallet file.

and found default_wallet

Thats likely your wallet file.

too, unfortunately it's damage and Electrum does not recognize it.

What is the exact error you get? What exactly did you do in order to see the error in question.
805  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Brauche dringend hilfe !! on: January 04, 2017, 08:16:46 PM

806  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Accept Bitcoin Donations With A Text link on: January 04, 2017, 08:12:05 PM
You dont need a service, you can just use the common URI for bitcoin, e.g. on my node page I have this as link

Code:
bitcoin:1E6MkNW9smz9GKi4AXbegND4ctujCZnSjA?label=shorenafullnode

With a locally installed bitcoin app, it will open the app, prepare a new transaction and fill in the label and address accordingly. You can even preset an amount if you want.
807  Local / Treffen / Re: Hamburg Bitcoin-Treffen, 1. Mittwoch im Monat, 19:00 im Cafe SternChance on: January 04, 2017, 07:48:44 PM

Wollen wir den Stammtisch am 11.01.17 machen?

11.1. ist super!!!

+1

Yo, passt.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin-cli not working on: January 04, 2017, 07:06:57 PM

-snip-

809  Other / Meta / Re: Data breach? on: January 04, 2017, 08:52:00 AM
There was a breach a while back, yes.
810  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: January 04, 2017, 08:43:10 AM
People interested can quickly find out what's the asterisk is about.
So you do agree there is a problem with Betcoin.AG, you just don't agree about how it is pointed out?
Well, if you put it this way than, yes I do see the problem Smiley and I don't agree about how it is pointed out.
We have to remember that 99% of red trust at betcoins profile are coming from resolved jackpot case, jason case, if I'm not mistaken.
It was huge for a moment because of how big the stake was, not the bad behaviour of the casino.

Betcoin did handle the issue rather unprofessionally and tried to gag the winner via contract. The person representing betcoin here is the same running the campaign, its - at least for me - reasonable that they would act similarly should issues with the campaign arise. Thats why I consider the warning left on the account as well as the campaign justified.

812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Security of paper wallets and checking the balance? on: January 03, 2017, 09:18:55 AM
If I were to transfer my bitcoins to a paper wallet and then place that paper wallet in a safe deposit box, what are the chances that I will retrieve the paper wallet several years later to find that the bitcoins have been stolen?

If you created it properly on a clean offline system chances are effectively 0.

Should I regularly check the balance, and if so is there a way to do that without having to sweep and reload the wallet?

Doesnt do any harm to check. You can just look up the address in any blockchain explorer or use a watch only wallet.

Further, would using the private key to check the balance or sweep the wallet, does this jeopardize the security of the private key?

Yes, importing it to an online system to check the balance renders the idea of a paperwallet (offline) useless.
813  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: transfer to wallet sent to two differnet addresses... on: January 02, 2017, 11:47:36 PM
It wasn't. I transferred the available amount to another wallet. Will it appear later?

So you didnt create the transaction with electrum? If its about a transaction you withdrew from a service or online wallet, contact their support and move the thread accordingly (web wallets / services).
814  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: worldminers.biz on: January 02, 2017, 11:00:43 PM
Happy new year everyone! I am a new member and i would like your help. does anyone knows worldminers.biz ? Is it safe?

Its fancy bullshit, the rates are unrealistic. Just do some basic math and ask yourself how long it would take to get a million with 10% daily growth and 1 EUR/USD/etc. start.

Spoiler: try 145 days

He gave negative feedbacks to reduce his possible competitors for his ACE Campaign.

How so? AFAICT there is no competitions for ACE. Its pitch is high quality, all in one ad service for the services willing to pay a little premium for that service.
Everyone that is trying to sell their signature space in any way is competing with ACE. Signature campaign managers also compete with ACE.

Meh, Ill accept managers. Individuals that can sell their sig via e.g. an auction would likely get better rates outside of ACE.

Neither can I, its not an abusive rating. I wouldnt give it though. At least not currently, if someone reads this 2021 and I changed my mind, sue me. It leads to what is currently common though, throw away accounts are used to sell accounts. This makes it impossible for account sellers to establish a reputation of good quality product. Good quality meaning, not hacked, not farmed with spam, signed message to confirm it was traded freely. This makes this market more confusing and might possibly do more bad than good.
I disagree with it doing more harm than good. Let's take a look at 2016 [...]
-snip-

I admit I have no numbers to back my argument which makes it pretty weak.
I followed up on the trust status of all the accounts I sold in July 2015, which was about 6 months since I sold the last of my accounts. As of then, 8 accounts had negative trust (one of which was for trying to sell his account, which is not something I agree with), and two had positive trust that they did not have when they purchased their account (all when using the default trust settings in effect at the time), out of about 135 accounts in total that I sold. maser-p was one of the accounts with positive trust at the time, and was potentially planning a long con scam.

So about 6 months after the last account I sold (and a mean time of probably about 10 months since I sold each account), about 5% of accounts had scammed (or attempted to scam), and another less than 1% was in the process of planning a long con, so maybe about 6% of my sold accounts turned out to be scammers.

I suspect that the above numbers will have since increased since then due to the fact that prices have fallen so much, although I suspect that real scam attempts by purchased accounts are still very low.

I would also point out the significant negatives to leaving negative trust for sold accounts (and alt accounts) for no reason other than the account was sold or a person has a lot of alts, as this is clearly an attempt to exclude these people from the community (not to mention the very low burden of proof that a lot of these ratings have used).

Thanks for the insights, do you have any data on spam or obvious signs of bans? I know its highly subjective, but it should be possible to determine a number for shitposters.

I agree.
817  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction for weeks on: January 02, 2017, 10:33:36 PM
Hi,

I have just tried it but the "Unconfirmed Transaction" still appear in my new generated wallet.

Regards

In that case you might have to try a more drastic approach -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1736269.msg17370760#msg17370760
818  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: January 02, 2017, 10:32:15 PM
I think Mitchell should remove the red mark * from signature that I'm wearing.
There where never any problems in the campaign itself.
No delays, no post miscalculations, no strange and unnecessary bans for participants.
Owner and manager never broke any promises or forum rules etc.
Its just an ordinary signature campaign, one of the best, if you ask me Smiley
I think its not fair that its the only one with special warnings. coinroll was a lot worse this month, with super delay and post summary problems, deserves warning more Tongue just saying.

I agree its reasonable that coinroll gets an asterisk.

I dont agree that betcoin should get it removed, due to the issues with the service itself. You probably read the trust ratings left by the person running the campaign, so why do you think this should be seen separately?
819  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Total Fees on: January 02, 2017, 10:26:21 PM
@amaclin: your program fails for this block:
https://blockchain.info/block/0000000000004c78956f8643262f3622acf22486b120421f893c0553702ba7b5

If the remaining data is correct, the total fee is about 60688.8 BTC

Note that this also includes fee that was paid in error (e.g. swapping fee and value field) and later returned by the miner.

If you want a perfect result, youd have to catch these blocks somehow, because miners dont have to claim the full block reward. If you dont care about the satoshi missing (at least here) it would be enough to make sure you dont overflow.
