The CEO fucks up and the staff gets laid off... how typical... punish someone else for his incompetence and lack of a proper business procedures. They have to make up for the $ 2 000 000 they lost, and the easiest way is to trim the least important people in the business. Their main problem is not the $ 2 000 000 ...It's their reputation that is shattered and how this once again taints the Bitcoin community with another scandal. Well, you can't nessecerely blame the CEO for wanting to cut costs. It seems as though the profit wasn't enough, he alone probably couldn't stop this from coming. I'm sure that laying off people was the last resort, probably investors played a role in this.

With coindesk covering we can be more than certain that this is no longer speculation. What's up with BitPay though? Did the 30m USD investment they received more than a year ago start running out? Just too much bad news for them lately.

What would you do if a portion of money you had lost access to were back at your control? It's not money you were counting on for sure, but neat to have part of it bag. I don't think it'll cause any effect on the market as most will likely seek to pull the money out securely and leave the topic to rest after what they've been through.

This is nothing more but speculation at this point but it's important to remember that it'c coming from the guy that 'announced' that bitpay will be halting their free service a month before it was official.

There isn't much point of this, it has to be smaller miners inside otherwise you lose all forms of modularity. Any downtime costs you $100 an hour rather than just a module going offline etc, and then the purchase price is inflated because its a container ($2-3k) and inbuilt infrastructure.
When the alternative is 10 SP50s or 200S5s, I can't see anyone buying a container.
I can't remember the name but there was a company that sold containers like this just without miners. They took containers and put electrical and cooling. They thought they would have customers but seems that company died. Have not seem anything from them. I have a feeling you are right and this container project just like other one will not take off. You mean the company that was selling dedicated server cooling cabinets? I remember such a company advertising here, might have been this one but I'm not sure. Here's a picture from their website

Also, wasn't there evidence showing that a full node on a raspberry pi would crash often? I don't know if this device is gonna be good at one particular thing, but hosting a full node isn't going to be it.

Hey, I think it'd be better if you could start an auction with starting bid and minimum incrementalist.
*increasement. Dammit auto correct.

To be fair, miners are the ones confirming transactions. They deserve to have a say on what the block size is going to be. But bitcoin users are also contributing in one way or another. If transactions were to happen through the blockchain, users would contribute fees for the miners. A median solution would be nice, maybe trusting miners with every future change of the block size cap isn't ideal for everyone but I don't know if there could be a better way for voting for such matters.

1 Petahash in a container?
What on earth would make anyone think that this is exceptional, it's probably two generations out of date?
At this size efficiency surely matters more as mining at loss would not be sustained but it's not two generations out of date in any way. @ .23 Watts per Gh/s it's even more efficient than Antminer's s7.

Π. BiPolarBob, what is it that makes Mormonism meet the needs of anyone really.?
I'm not sure actually.. The only thing I know about Mormonism is what SouthPark taught me. lol I knew you weren't going to be serious with that one.

ooh I didn't notice you were running a service of your own. That's great for you man.
Indeed such type of work is good for people with non advanced skills in a certain field and can help them earn. As long as there's demand there will be reason for it to exist for sure. I know economy in countries other than the western world is different so few USD a day is decent for earning on the side for some.

Can I ask how much GH it have?
We're not quite certain yet. From their FAQ, there's no clear indication. I speculate that although the chip in there is supposed to be crazily efficient it isn't very stable. Here's a quote from the FAQ: Subject to that proviso, the 21 Bitcoin Chip has an efficiency of approximately 0.16 Joules per Gigahash and can calculate 50-125 Gigahashes per second. https://www.21.co/faq/#technical-specifications

It's usually a lot of work for very little pay...I've always wondered why people would hire others to type in captcha's...Maybe i'm missing something Yes. I know that . But if a User have a tremendous amount of typing speed. He can do much better and make upto $5 to $10 / day easily. Today I will post the differences with Signature Campaign and Captcha work. After that you can tell which one is better to earn. That's still way below minimum wage. Why not spend your day educating yourself? In that time you could spend time online learning a new language, or learn about web design or even improve your English. On the long term, perfecting a skill can be proven more profitable as you'll be able to get paid for actual work you might even enjoy doing.

BitCoin is a crazy, crazy ride and there's money to be made even now. Maybe holding isn't going to turn in profit on the short term but nobody knows how's it going to turn in the future.
For short term profit, an experienced trader can take advantage of bitcoin's ups and downs and make money on a day to day basis. Volatility can be taken advantage of with a little risk tolerance and educated guesses. Big part of bitcoin's market is traders doing or trying to do exactly this.

Why would anyone want to pre-order this? As far as I know 21 isn't handling anything extra to people who pre-order and the supply isn't supposed to be super limited. Pre ordering anything bitcoin related has proven to be a huge risk in fact so I'd stay away. Also the price in obscene. The only thing I like is that there's an efficient mining asic in there but we haven't gotten a chance to see the software yet.
