801  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 21, 2023, 12:47:32 PM
The time has come when understanding crypto in detail and DYOR more than earlier has become a necessity. If you don't understand anything happening in the market then stay away and do not become greedy to ride the wave. Things are not so good as they were earlier post 2021.
people with greed for free money online are the common victims of these scammer aside from those that fall out of mistake due to a security breach. If you want to survive and stay out of loss to scammers in the crypto space you have to learn to exercise patience and do a research about the authenticity of any offer you receive or see online from strangers, if possible resist or ignore all DM's from strangers offering some financial deals that appears to good to be true, better to ignore than test the waters you might not be able to stomach the loss.

Just like on telegram I have been receiving frequent strange messages from strange groups unknown to me about some token splash with a provided link that I should visit and follow the registration process where I have to deposit certain amount of cash for some newly listed token and later earn back in higher profit 3x of what amount I deposit.

Now how does this make sense to someone like me that's sane and abreast all round about this schemes. An unpopular adage says, when a snake bites you next time you see a black rope you will run.
802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 21, 2023, 11:01:59 AM
Hey house someone need a few clips here, don't know if a post of this exact nature has been discussed though.

In a situation where the both spouse are gamblers. Husband gambles, wife gambles, how can both of them manage the situation in terms of finance and the family affairs especially when children are now involve so that the time both spends on gambling doesn't affect family moments and affairs in general.

Would it help if  one of the couple quit for the other and if that's the case who should quit for who.

Though I've not heard of such situation where both spouses are gamblers, but if they could manage their finance properly in a way that there's always money to cater for the family needs and children's educational expenses, then I see no reason for any of them to quit. They can still be gambling, having fun while raising their kids but in the case where one of them is not being prudent with his or her gambling habit or spending, then help should be sought after or should quit gambling.

In fact, if gambling weren't so addictive and dangerous for people with poor self-control, it would be a great development. For example, on Friday evening, you and your wife decided to buy beer together and sit and play slots. I think this will cause a lot of emotions, and they will be stronger than when watching a TV series or a computer game, but the price for this is too high. That's why I don't drag my girlfriend into this. I don't want her to have her self-control tested.
Women are weak and such entertainment affects them much more strongly than us men.
I had always played this local whot card game with my woman whenever she's around for the weekends because she's not always around due to her kind regards of job and the location far from home, so when she's around we play that game together for fun and entertain ourselves you know that lovebirds kind of thing. And I haven't seen her play any other game cause the purpose she plays that with me is not for money making but fun between two lovers.

It is when he two couples/lovers introduce money into the game making it seem as a  challenge between the two that's when you have got to be worried if she can be capable of holding herself together going forward from falling into addiction , because what I discovered is that people that gamble for entertainment rarely fall into gambling addiction compared to those that gamble for money making.
803  Other / Meta / Re: Thanks button and more on: December 20, 2023, 02:51:30 PM
You're suggestion is great to avoid spam but what you doing is not allowed read this below

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

You should next time learn how to use insert quotes and edit your post because it's considered spam.

And I don't think it's a good idea to add a thanks button I'm sure there are many scammer who will abuse this to make their thread/post look legit.
with all due respect, I don't know what exactly op is thinking by considering the use of a thanks button when there's a merit system that is on ground and running. As cheap as a thanks button could be if used it would also be enormously abused and less valued.

As a newbie you might find the use of certain features in the forum difficult for now but with time you will come to appreciate their usefulness and purpose, making provisions for a like button to posts/comments would make the forum look like one of those social media platforms like Facebook where everything goes with a like(s).
804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Confirms Extensive Collaboration With DOJ, FBI and Secret Service on: December 20, 2023, 02:28:39 PM
I know that Tether is somehow tied to US Dollar but it's still  crypto and shouldn't be controlled or regulated by anyone, especially not the government. Well then let's see what comes out of this alliance.
USDT is pegged to the dollar, and it is controlled by the issuing company, it is a centralized coin and if you use it you have to understand that this was always possible, the only thing is that they are now in full cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
I kind of hate to say this but as a price stable cryptocurrency the reason why we have many people still making use of Tether USDT despite it been centralized is by virtue of it's custodian trust the users have on it when compared to other pegged cryptocurrency (decentralized or centralized) and being pegged to the US dollar a fiat currency that is strong in strength to other fiats and serving as reserve currency of many countries globally.

But centralized institutions will forever behave as centralized institutions breaking you when you least expected it in as much as their interest has to be intact by whatever means necessary.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling ever whispered you with different strategic prediction measures? on: December 20, 2023, 09:15:57 AM
This gambling strategy mostly happen with casino gamblers mostly on slot games it's as if the gambler has gotten to a point where he has lost confidence on his own ability and  skills in using it to gamble and decides to summit his totality to fate/luck to take it course, the closing of the eyes usually takes place for a gambler as the last resort to getting a lucky win.

As a sport bettor I more often see gamblers doing this when I seldom visit one particular casino in my area just to have a feel of different gambling away from sports betting, for me I really don't believe it does have an effect to change any course as what's gonna be is going to be be it you close eyes or not.

806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which type of gambling have more gambling addicts ? on: December 20, 2023, 08:27:56 AM

It's the games in the traditional casinos that are more addicting because a player has more interaction with real people. You could talk to fellow gamblers who can eventually become your friends. I think it's the interaction with people that makes gamblers come back and you get to share experiences on table games.
Traditional casinos and Sports betshops are less addictive compared to online casino and sport bets, I will tell why it's so;

Online gambling is with ease and simplicity in carrying it out as a gambler with just a click on your gadget screen in your comfortable position you can gamble as much and long as you want and there's something about comfort and less noisy places while gambling, you get carried away that you end up gambling beyond how you had planned to,

but for in-house gambling only the distance covered to the gambling house can be discouraging some times particular under a hot weather and you just decide to cancel your gambling for that day, even the noise from within other gamblers and machines in the house can make you uncomfortable that you don't have to spend much time as you would comfortably gambling online within your closet.

Another argument is that, online gambling gives privacy to gamblers specially to those gamblers that seek to keep their gambling habit private. And there are many found under this category, etc.

Quote
The online casino games will be the second since you are offered unlimited rewards, and you can win big up to the jackpot especially the slot. But even in offline casinos, the slot is already addictive.
The tradition comes in second position from what I have explained above, notwithstanding all patterns of gambling are addictive and people should consciously fight to resist any form that which the addiction can be gotten.

Chelsea are not willing to loan out Noni Madueke in the January transfer window but are prepared to listen to offers over £40m for Conor Gallagher in January.
source
This is very sadden to know that Chelsea are willing to sell out one of the best player this season in person of Gallagher seeing how they have been struggling with inconsistency in their performance this season we expect they retain their better players like Gallagher who have been of a positive influence to the team's few wins this season's in all games he had fixtures.  while they use the January transfer window to bring in new players that can fill in the loopholes and lapse the team is experiencing. Why sell out your best player instead of those not really doing fine in the team?

I think Chelsea would be making a great mistake should they let Gallagher leave cause as it stands many EPL clubs have shown interest in him come January as Chelsea chose to send him off.
808  Other / Off-topic / Re: Eliminate fear and learn new things. on: December 19, 2023, 02:02:47 PM
My two cents is that if you want to grow and develop in whatever field of life you find yourself then you just have to do away with fear. We should always try to dare what other think it's impossible for it's within the impossible that possibilities are achieved a d hero's are made.

It is not bad to have fear but don't have the fear that makes you avoid doing and trying new things. The fear we should have should be that fear that guide us to be careful and critical with what we are doing to avoid making errors and blunders buy in the course of it all even if we never succeed in what we try doing for the first time we didn't fail we only gained experience and another way of doing it differently.
809  Economy / Gambling / Re: Does anyone find the spate of online casinos a bit uninspired? on: December 19, 2023, 12:57:46 PM
If you see several casinos with the same design it can be a scam. The same time, someone can decide that it would be easier to attract more gamblers using different site clones and it works normally, but i prefer not to risk.
But possible that lots of casinos looks similar because the it would be easier for gambler get the standard interface and don`t spend time studying the new interface or even leave the casino because it is uncomfortable.
Many but not all, no casino owned an exclusive right to a color but only the name so it's actually not illegal or should it appear weird when we see different casinos apparently sharing almost same outlook and that shouldn't be big problem for anyone, what we should be concerned about is the quality of games they provide and their reputation how long they have existed in the industry.

Those are what we should be on the lookout for when chosen a casino to make use of and also their popularity based on the reviews from previous and existing customers. Some of the casinos we have today in the forum copied their interface or outlook from other casinos that were in the industry before them, it's not bad to imitate it's just for you to make yours look unique away  from that which you imitated from.

810  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 19, 2023, 12:00:59 PM
I am just wondering what we are all expecting between now and the Bitcoin halving in April next year. Is it going to be a steady climb till then or is there usually a crash of some kind?
At this point now with all the good news we are getting all projecting towards 2024 I think everyone now is accumulating heavily against that time of the year when the halving will start because it's going to be a massive high for bitcoin and I won't be shocked the price hits $100k+. I don't know how you mean by a crash but from all indications 2024 it's a year for a bullrun so a crash isn't visible from my own lens.

Quote
Up until now I have just been buying throughout the bear market and not sold anything , my portfolio is currently 26% in profit which I am happy with but wondering if I should keep holding till past the bull run or take some profits now.
Lucky you stepping in just in time to the halving, 26% isn't that much still not bad for a person that had just started not quite long. I have always said bitcoin accumulation is not a competition and people should always accumulate based on their financial strength.

You should have gotten a plan before starting off, was it a long term like 2-4 years plan or below. It's with a plan that you can know how to go about with your investment on when to take profit or not. So think again mate.
811  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk mixer ban, Altcointalk is active in that scope. on: December 19, 2023, 10:55:59 AM
Do you agree with what I think? We found that the altcointalk forum was not that active even a few days ago. But now altcointalk forum is very active as professional manager is running signature campaign. People run after their own interests.
Whether anyone agrees or not it doesn't change the fact that the altcointalk traffic can't be compared to half the traffic of bitcointalk community has despite mixers now operating in the altcointalk with members here teleporting over there.

There's an adage in my local parlance that says, "if you are big, you are big", so bitcointalk is a big active community and in as much as Bitcoin sits as the leading cryptocurrencies anything associated with altcoin will always have the status of altcoin in the face of bitcoin in extension to bitcointalk forum.

Quote
Now if this BitcoinTalk forum is not allowed to conduct any kind of signature campaign, will everyone be active in this forum as it is now? No one posts here without profit, everyone has a signature code on their account, there are only a handful of people left.
Even with the signature campaigns allowed day-in and day-out people are still leaving the forum and that is how new people are also trooping in too, maybe as a newbie you are ignorant of that, do your research about it.

About everyone having a signature code, that's isn't entirely true, not everyone in the forum is with a signature campaign code still they are happily contributing their knowledge to the forum. AFAIK, signature only serve as a motivation to frequently be active 24/7.

Quote

Discontinuing the mixer campaign on the BitcoinTalk forum has had one benefit, that is, the activation of the altcointalk forum.
If you're observant you will without been told know that the attack on mixer that led to it's proposed ban in bitcointalk from 1st January 2024 is an attack targeted on bitcoin of which this forum has been instrumental to bitcoin popularity.  Else why is the government not having issues with mixers been continually advertised on altcointalk but are against it been continued on bitcointalk.?

Read the writing on the wall mate, the attack is indirectly on BTC popularity and not just about mixers.
812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: December 18, 2023, 05:34:05 PM
I think City and Bayern are the two luckiest teams in the round of 16, because the strength level of Copenhagen and Lazio is still below their two opponents. I think Madrid is also in a lucky position too, because in meeting the Bundesliga representatives, namely Leipzig, I think Madrid can finish the match easily. apart from that I think Arsenal, Barcelona Inter and Dortmund get equal opponents.

Of course, this is only an assumption on paper, which means that clubs that have already qualified for the round of 16 have the same opportunities and opportunities to advance to the quarter finals or further. I agree with you, many surprises can happen and sometimes when we are too confident in one of the teams, and are favorites, we end up being eliminated early.

The knockout rounds which will start in february next year will give the 16 teams time to focus on their respective domestic leagues. City, Bayern and Madrid, as the most favored teams in the UCL, are losing the top of the standings at domestic level at the moment. however in my opinion, this does not necessarily eliminate their status at UCL.

The knockout round is often the round where surprises occur. Some teams that may experience difficulties in their domestic leagues can appear very strong in the UCL and vice versa.
Yes, I agree that City, Bayern and Madrid as top teams definitely have the quality and experience of competing in the UCL.
However, seeing the clubs that have already qualified for the round of 16 with the same opportunity to progress further gives the feel of a fair and competitive competition. All teams have a chance and should be respected as serious contenders.
The next challenge that must be considered is increasing the depth of the squad, and keeping existing players from leaving in the january transfer window. Apart from that, all teams must protect their players from injury, especially if it happens to several players at once, of course that makes their chances smaller. On the other hand, even though PSG have an easy opponent, I think Real Sociedad will be able to trouble them. because we have seen that they were able to win Group D and beat Inter Milan, who was the UCL runnerup last season. Furthermore, I think Barcelona will have problems if they don't improve their performance in the future, because Napoli cannot be taken lightly. At first glance, it seems that their strengths and situations look the same, and indeed they are both defending champions in their respective domestic competitions.
Yeah, the January transfer will determine a lot of changes in many teams in this round of the UCL and one of those teams in my list specially that I feel might be affected negative could be Brussia Dortmund for they have been known before now of selling out their better players when tempted with a huge amount of money.  As for Barcelona they are in one of their bad form this season as they have failed to win their three last  consecutive matches in the domestic league and if they carry on this way without making for better replacements in their squad this January window Napoli will definitely make a mess of them like Bayern did years ago.  I am confident PSG will make it to the round of 8 real sociedad can only make it a tough battle for them but eventually PSG will humble them at the end, it's if PSG will survive to the next round after round of 8  that I can't say for now. One thing for sure the January transfer will definitely make changes in many of these team's.
813  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for INVESTORS on: December 18, 2023, 03:15:25 PM
Than in such situation accured, right now looking for people who are interested to invest. And when in next year game will be ready I will contact you back and let you know that the game is ready for the show room.
If I understand the meaning of investor according to the Wiktionary "a person who invests money in order to make a profit", and going by this no investor in his right mind is going to put his money into something that even you yourself can't provide proven facts to it's build up at least to show that your project have reach so and so point of completion but a lack of available finance to forge ahead.

Now at that point it could be understandable for some investors to give some reasonable doubt by showing interest to invest but rather what you're dropping is mere words and promises and you expect people with brains to pick interest into something that with your statement it's
already  looking like a mirage. OP please give us your best shot if what you claim to have is something that's true.
Working on it. Almost done. One or two more month and I show you first version of the map editor. Sorry, couldn't reply earlier as was busy on this project.

This is not the point here that your project is a work in progress or it is almost done. The point is that did anyone invest with you in the project? At the start of the year, the way you asked for the investment was unprofessional way and no one would have shown interest in the project or the investment.

Now that you have developed the project if you can show us the project and then ask for investment, then someone may be interested but still, your Newbie status and no repute will remain a question mark for anyone who wishes to invest with you.
@op that sounds impressive to hear from you that you're almost done with your project with a one or two months to completion.

However just as @virasog has clearly said, you will be having some challenge with regard to your rank reputation in the forum but if you can give a good presentation about the project when completed which it will be great and convincing too if you add images and other necessary links when do so. Am sure some investors out there will be moved to give a shot.

Good luck to you.

Ever since I became a member of the bitcointalk community I discovered something, that there are two sets of people that are found in the forum - the theoretical and the technical. And between these two the former is simple to get knowledgeable with in no time even with a blank slate head about bitcoin before getting into the forum provided you're serious and ready to learn.

For that if the technical aspect of bitcoin it get less difficult in assimilating the technical terminologies and registers of this aspect of bitcoin if you before now have a prior basic background knowledge of computer sciences and other related field. Without which you are bound to face difficulty in getting a smooth understanding.

I'll advise you pitch your tent on the theoretical aspect of bitcoin as you're just taking flight in the industry as a newbie, drill yourself in it no need to rush towards the difficult side so you don't crash, with time and with the knowledge you would have build and equip with theoretically you can start carefully on the technical which may seems less difficult by then than you find it now.

For the technical these are the boards you can regularly visit for your build up.

815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: December 18, 2023, 01:16:07 PM

Don't know if I should refer to this as a fairly drawn pairs except for the pairs between Inter Milan vs ATM, and Napoli vs Barcelona all the other draws in my opinion are of unequal pairing. And Manchester City seem to be the luckiest of them all.

At least with this draws we now know to an extent those teams that will survive to the next round and those that their chances of survival are very slim except the unexpected events as we have before now seen in football does happen. Can't wait for February 13th, 2024 to watch the live actions from these UCL  games.
816  Economy / Gambling / Re: tell me the best online casino on: December 18, 2023, 12:41:16 PM
You're pretty weird op. I noticed that you were a member of the forum since 2017 which is why I have no idea why you felt the need to ask a question like this which newbies usually ask.

Stop being lazy and do some research by yourself. That's my advice to you.
I thought same thing to myself when I saw that he doesn't seem to look like a new person in the forum counting on his time in the forum and number of posts numbering about 800+ and yet asking these questions that newbies are known for here.

Or, perhaps he had been around this long but doesn't visit neither had time for anything regarding to gambling in the forum but just picked interest now and decide to acquaint himself with these questions to help him know which casino he can start with based on whatever feedback replies he gets from those of us using these casinos.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You will burn on: December 17, 2023, 09:51:34 PM
Altcoins has a special feature customized to alts alone which is, " pump now and dump later".  And that's what makes them not suitable for long term plan because they are a hit and run project which makes investment in altcoin no different from gambling.

Not more than two years I started doing DCA in bitcoin I can attest to how much of a portfolio I have been able to accumulate with the confident that come rain or shine I won't lose in as much as I keep holding throughout the raining times (bear) that at sunset (bullrun) profit will abound. This confidence is what altcoins can't guarantee you when it dumps due to a long bear market.

818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 17, 2023, 09:27:38 PM
Answering op question I have observed my gambling behaviour I don't see anything to consider in myself as a problem I am encountering as a result of gambling.

Gambling is just what we make of it individually. I take gambling as an activity of fun and entertainment that is attached with financial reward for passion for that reason I don't dare take it personal. While you on the other hand take gambling as a source to make money and that's where the problem of gambling addiction starts from, because when you don't start making money from it but rather losing money to it, like a magnet, it attracts lose chasing and this can affect your financial control, relationship and other areas of your life. That's why I said gambling is what we make of it.

What do you make of gambling?
819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 17, 2023, 05:40:46 PM

Top fourth teams position have good result for this week except Manchester City, there are have Arsenal won against Brighton Albion and Aston Villa keep in the winning trend. Left Liverpool match will follow the good result for defeating Manchester United or possibility follow not good result achievement like Man City.

It's hard to accept that Manchester City dropped points against weaker opponents. They shouldn't be losing points in these types of games, especially considering the quality of their squad. City is going through a challenging period, but sometimes things can turn around unexpectedly. They have to bounce back, as other contenders maintaining their winning streaks.
You made a really good point here, but you need to consider the absence of most of their top players like Haaland and kelvin debrune, no team will lose such top player and don't feel their absence, but I know that in due time, when they are back, they can beat any team in the world.

Just that if they continue like this, before they will realize their self, they will be far away from the top, which will make it very challenging and difficult to defend the title. Injury is one occurrence in football that is out of team Manager's control and it's so unfortunate when we see teams that are supposed to doing great in the league suffering behind due to injured top players absence.

Hello, i'm new to the environment of cryptocurrency Bitcoin I've been reading a few posts from time to time to educate myself more and be more knowledgable about it, but sometimes i find it hard to understand how everything works.

What's the best and easiest way to learn about Bitcoin and everything around it ?
If you have been doing some reading from time to time and still finding difficulty in understanding how everything works then maybe you should change the pattern of your learn. People learn and assimilate easily in different ways and if you are doing it in the form that is not your own way of easily understanding then it can make the learn-to-understamd process a difficult task.

Op why not look for persons that also have interest in bitcoin and also have knowledge too about it engage in a regular small circle discussion where you guys can be asking and answering questions in a about areas of bitcoin you're finding hard to grasp. There are sets of persons that learning easily by a round table discussion than they do with just reading. You can also find such groups online, maybe on YouTube.
