801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Must you lose before you gain in Bitcoin investment? on: February 07, 2024, 05:32:17 PM
Questions like this has popped out in several occasions and arguments concerning Bitcoin investment. My friends will say you must lose before you gain or rather have more experience investing in Bitcoin. If its how it work, Bitcoin isn't for a low income earner as well as not gonna make you rich when you can't invest something tangible to it. On the other hand people are been made big and wealthy in same program. What does it in tell, cos am quite sure people had already known what's going to happen in the market in the nearest future to give them the strong mindset to invest porously. My biggest fear is losing my hard earn to something as volatile, vulnerable and uncertain as btc. What's the possibility you invest without losing. Is it guaranteed in this kinda market?
It all depends on how you think of starting because I believe those that have such mentality actually started their Bitcoin investment journey with the wrong steps to follow it up. You must not lose before benefiting with your investment, in a case where there is proper strategy and planning then everything will be as simple as ABC. The DCA strategy is actually a method that has proven to have low risk and high good results if properly followed.

In a case when you did no research and have no understanding in what you are actually getting involved then lose of capital will certainly be the end result and also many people get into Bitcoin investment because of the huge made up story of how easy it is and you fill with thrills can just go and make blantant mistake and end up getting losses.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A student investing in bitcoin? on: February 07, 2024, 05:26:20 PM
According to one of your earlier posts you already invested in bitcoin in the past but then had to sell it so I am not sure why you are talking like you never bought bitcoin before and know nothing about it. An obvious answer is merit fishing but I am curious to hear your answer.  Wink

This is one thing about cooking up stories. Most times, the author forgets about what they said before and is too lazy to study the old thread in order to keep the stories in place. Instead, they come up with a new one every now and then, forgetting there could be members who are concerned and could trace and get their things all out and together.
That's a typical newbie fishing merits character, for the lazy ones it's all about a new post with a freshly cooked story, I could remember one particular user that got three neutral tags by DT members boldly written LIER on the tags. Well atleast the best you could do is to make the market you are trying to sell atleast believable and not contradicting and confusing others.
803  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: No need to change job due to low salary, just add another source. on: February 06, 2024, 08:42:53 PM
Well for me. With the way this world dy go.Omo somebody need to add another source of income oo. Because everyday things dy change and cost of living also they high. That your friend fit still keep he job active. But mk he just put eye for other hustle. At least something way he fit handle even with that him work.because na the only way oo. Man got to do what is best for him or her oo.
This kind thing no be something wey person supposed come dey reason now because na matter wey everyone know and if care is not taken the country no fit even spoil pass like this so the only good thing wey you fit do to help yourself na to just find way add another hustle to the one wey dey ground and as it stands now sef, the pay rate of jobs for the country no fit keep you alive because the money sef no get any value whatsoever so better give yourself more task than to wait and complain.
804  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The cause of inflation on: February 06, 2024, 08:37:51 PM
What I think is that this present government are like the old government that has nothing unique to offer. The government should come up with plans to make Nigeria to export more than import. There should be a solution to this. We have minerals and other things needed for the growth and development of our nation. Many countries can depend on our goods and services, but we are not producing enough, yet discouraging foreign investors in the country. Can you see how electricity is in Nigeria, our government is not different in doing. We are just not getting anything right.
That's right mate, I also feel that exportation needs to be more than importation in this country, because I know very well that Nigeria was one of the major exporters of goods and commodity in this continent but they lagged and sluggishly let go of every important thought and focused more on importation of goods which has affected the economy so badly and even when the past government tried to stop this by closing their borders the necessary needs to follow up with the actions wasn't there so it felt as nothing and moreover serves as more means to distabilized the country.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 06, 2024, 05:02:54 PM
I just want to share this with my fellow bettors.
Have you ever taken such a huge risk on gambling before?
Yesterday I experienced what I have never experienced before but I am very much happier because my risk wasn't in vain.

A friend of mine sold her bet to me 20k Nigerian naira and I bought it because there was a cash-out on the bet, and the cash out was 20k Nigerian naira.
Besides, the games are 21 in total and 19 out of the games have entered so the games was remaining just 2 and that was why I bought the bet with a whole 20k Nigerian naira.

This is the highest risk I have ever taken on gamble.  :)Why I called this the highest risk was because if the remaining 2 games lose I will be the loser and not my friend, so that risk was very terrible but I just have to take the risk because I already have in mind that you can not win if you do not risk. But to cut long story short, I win the bet, this was like sharing the money equally with my friend.
So have you ever taken such a risk on gambe before?
Is that really a risk? You bet 20k Nigerian naira, that's 16$. A one-hour salary in America and 1/4 of your weekly signature campaign earnings. Okay, that doesn't matter much but to be fair that's not a high risk. Financially you haven't risked much win or loss in terms of monetary value but the odds in your ticket are amazing. You have to be very lucky to catch 150 odd. By the way, I can't call it a risk but my biggest mistake was betting 0.1 USD on ticket with 1492 odds. You won't believe but I had 13 matches in that ticket, majority of them chosen blindly, followed my luck and this ticket won. I won 149 USD by betting 0.10 USD because odds were 1492. I didn't use cashout option, so you can call it the highest risk if we compare my ticket to your ticket.
Am surprised when you said he has not taken a risk. The money involved might not mean anything to you but to him it's something huge. There was no need of comparing the money in the two countries you mentioned. To him that money Worth something to him while to you it's nothing. $1 is a risk because he didn't steal the money.
Thank you mate , they actually forgot that the two countries means of living is not the same, currently now Nigeria is a third world country that everyone knows it financial disable system and believe me many Nigerian would actually argue that the 16$ you are calling nothing is definitely worth something and that's why I still class this a huge risk and remember gambling is terms risky depending on the financial strength of the gambler because I believe that the money drake would use to gamble which is worth millions will still not be anything for him but I will definitely calling a fat figure and a life changing opportunity funds if I were to be in possession of such funds.
806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please stop asking for "legal tender status" on: February 06, 2024, 04:56:38 PM
For any currency to be a legal tender, it means that the government have made it part of the currency of that country by law, that should be accepted for payment of goods and services and also for paying debt. So, any country that makes bitcoin a legal tender does not really mean that the government will force its citizens to use it, but it will be an alternative means of payment to fiat. and it will be accepted by all.

Making bitcoin a legal tender by the government of a country does not give the government any power to control bitcoin. Let's take a look at El Salvador, it is not all of them that is using bitcoin, and Bukele didn't force anyone to use bitcoin.
Yeah that's true I think because Bitcoin is a legal tender doesn't mean its forced upon by everyone to use it and I can also relate this with other countries that don't even use Bitcoin, because I am believe that some countries do have two currencies as their legal tender and this means the two currencies are to be accepted for exchange of goods and commodity just as you explain but this doesn't necessarily mean every one is forced to use and doesn't mean that government controls the two currencies used cause I believe one of them might be a different currency maybe like the dollar.
807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does BTC mean to you? on: February 06, 2024, 04:52:08 PM
The meaning of BTC for me is broad, and there are many opinions, from investment to financial freedom, of course if we enter at the right time and take part in the 4-year event,
but for me BTC is oan investment that can provide multiple opportunities if you can hold back until the right time
That's what it has become now even more than it's first original purpose by the creator itself. Bitcoin was actually designed as a currency that gives the common man freedom from everything that has to do with the central system but as every good project has alternative good purposes so did the feature of it to be used as an investment means did trend and now I can even say most person do prefer just holding their coins rather than spending it as a currency and I think I will class myself under the category too
808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 06, 2024, 09:19:46 AM
It wouldn't call this a high risk, because you were risking 150 Naira and that's $0.12 US dollars, but this was a high multiplier, you get close to x100 on that bet, and is really hard to do that in sports bets, so congrats for your win.

In the past, I tried to find the best way to get big multipliers in sports betting, and from my point of view, the best way is to win 3 basketball games on draw in a parlay, that would pay x1000. But is really hard to win a parlay like that.
I think you got the whole set up wrong because the risk been talked about here is about the initial bet placed but the OP highlighted that he bought the game from a friend way more higher than the initial amount used by the original owner of the slip and I think the reason for this is because the owner wasn't sure or not willing to take the risk involved in letting the games remaining to be decided so the OP knowing fully well that the game isn't decided still bought it regardless and if you ask that's some hell of a risk because the game might have gotten a U-TURN  and he might have lost a lot of cash being the actual funds he used in buying the ticket from his friend.
809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is the only currency that has grown the most!! on: February 04, 2024, 09:43:16 PM
Present, there are many altcoins in the crypto market and they have grown a lot. But it has gone down and gone again, but Bitcoin is the only currency that hasn't gone down yet, instead it's going up. I've noticed that Bitcoin has grown the most over the past couple of days, but altcoins haven't grown as much in comparison. Currently, we see Bitcoin market above $44000, I think it will bring $45000 very soon. Will Bitcoin Touch $50,000 By This December?  What do you think about the way the Bitcoin market is currently growing?

There are many currencies that have been showing interest in coming along way far as bitcoin had been but yet they can't withstand the relevance of what bitcoin has always served, in terms of performance, there are alot of them thst have a market price performance in recent times better than bitcoin but they are not reliable and cannot be trusted the way bitcoin had always been, we know this truth for the sake of the experience crypto users that bitcoin is the only most reliable digital currency, which also have proven years of consistencies and trust.
Well when it comes to profit generation, I think there are couple of coins that can get you some high value profits but you would have understand that the risk sometimes involved in these coins are like 50/50 because at any second the coins that is yielding high profits can decide to dropped dramatically that even you yourself would be surprised to how and what really transpired that lead to the massive dip and that's where Bitcoin beats all because when Bitcoin do dip so many people are joyous because it opens a wonderful opportunity for many to buy as there is always certainty that it will go up again.
810  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Social media is a breeding ground for scamers, be intelligent while you explore on: February 04, 2024, 08:54:05 PM
Exactly what I was saying this evening about the possibility that someone can easily get scammed if he goes to search for information about Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency in social media platforms. These social media platforms are breeding ground for scammers as they know it hosts lots of people that are naive in terms of their level of knowledge so they use that advantage and claim to be all sort of different expert for the gullible ones to believe that and get scammed because I believe if anyone has been exposed to the knowledge and warnings that Bitcointalk highlights, they would high possibility of them avoiding such silly scams.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to present the previous history of Bitcoin to the general public through. on: February 04, 2024, 08:31:09 PM
Reading stories is my old habit. One day while reading stories online, I saw an advertisement, that advertisement was of Bitcoin, based on that source, my journey to Bitcoin or crypto currency.

I want to present the past history of bitcoin or crypto currency in front of people through social media and so that people can know more about bitcoin because I think I should have known about bitcoin earlier. nowadays, people are very pioneers, so there are many who learn a lot at a young age. I would like to know your opinion on how to increase the interest of Bitcoin among teenagers on social media.

By using what topics a common man will like to read about Bitcoin and will be able to gain clear knowledge about Bitcoin and show interest in investing in Bitcoin ?

Well if there is any place I wouldn't want to hear or learn about Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency, it would certainly be on social media , why do I say this ? Social media has turned to another thing, it's like the place is a like a hunters ground for prey by the scammers and believe me I have certainly come across so many stories of people trying to scam others in one social media app or the other. I think this community or other community like this would be more preferable in terms of trying to spread more adoption and curiousity on people minds about cryptocurrency.

This community has more than effort topics and discussions that can cover for the specific knowledge that you seek interest on, just learn how to use the forum by searching the particular data you need and also surf around a lot and you will surely get acquainted with the information you need.
812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction does more harm than mere financial loss on: February 04, 2024, 08:20:14 PM
It all depends on the degree of gambling addiction. When it is too great, there is almost no chance of final winnings, as the player will continue betting regardless of the size of the winnings as long as he remains conscious. This is why psychological treatment is necessary for overly addicted gamblers.
Well I don't know how they do class the levels of addicted persons but what I do understand is that the craziness of the gambler do increases when the amount of money he is exposed to also increases because at some point his aim and target will certainly be above what he is getting on steady and that's when the greed comes in play because the more you get the more you will always want to have and some of these gambling take this habit of their and face it on their gambling and the results is just something that you wouldn't be proud of if you were actually close to the addicted person.
813  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Accumulate assets of different forms Now on: February 04, 2024, 08:14:16 PM
Holding unto a worthy asset for over a long period of time is a good investment choice, but however, trading it way where there is an urgent need of fund, is a wiser decision rather than holding it when it's your only source of finance to resolving your urgent needs, because the truth of the fact is that both O.P and 99.9% of people on this forum would never have accepted a deal with Laszlo Hanyecz (i.e the man who paid 10,000 for 2 pizza) if he has met any of them to trade that same 10,000 for $50 far back on 22nd May 2010, I'm sure non would have accepted such a deal, simply because Bitcoin never had a value back then. So let's just stop acting as if we wouldn't have done the same if we were "Laszlo Hanyecz" who was so dearly in need of a pizza.

Well I know for sure that I wouldn't have accepted such deal seeing how low the price of Bitcoin was , but I think you can't actually say the same for everyone because believe me I have seen some folk hold on to some damn shit price of coins all with hope of getting something huge in the future ahead. When it comes to holding of coins, am just curious why would anyone start something they cant finish  and end up tempering with the coins all in the name of their to meet their ends need.
814  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Having patient in an investment or quit? on: February 04, 2024, 08:01:58 PM
No business or investment without risk, we can try to reduce the risk of the kind investment or business we partake by depositing less capital but the profit can not be high when you are investing with small money.
Being scared of risky can only make us not to get the profits that will make us strive harder for more money, some of us do most businesses, invest in a source that have little risk but at end the source end the other way (scam).
IMO all business and investment have the same risk, the same risk because you can lose your money at any time, patience doesn't work perfectly all the time sometimes people are being patient for something thsts worthless.
When they say patient in this context, I think you can relate it to various meaning and if you are to look at it from an investment purpose then having patience is an excellent choice to make and I believe it's this same lack of patience that have made lots of investor or investment gone down the drain, someone that lacks patient will be eager to see his profits grow at a rapid rate and in so get involved in all sort of things that won't benefit him or her and so turning back to cause problems for the person.
815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 04, 2024, 07:48:24 PM
Some people have that phobia to bet offline where they can be communicating and discussing the games that they want to bet, they want that crowd ambience but that should not make someone who has been warned against staying in crowded place to continue risking their lives. Betting from offline and online has difference both advantage and disadvantage, the friend should sacrifice whatever benefit and joy he is deriving from offline to focus on online gambling whose advantages are also enormous and that will preserve his health too. With online betting, at least he will be on low key and no want will be able to monitor him except he discloses his activities on gambling to someone else.
Some gamblers miss the thrills that's involved they bet on offline betting shops and that's what triggers their mind to think that offline betting is better than online and you know we can't deny the fact that offline gambling is filled with lots of action packed fun too but some gamblers like you have stated already see this as disturbance and prefer gambling in their own quiet place with the serenity of their peace of mind.
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be stolen? on: February 03, 2024, 10:47:05 PM
Of course bitcoin can be stolen because just like your fiat it's also a currency and also an asset so you are the one to guide and protect it as it belongs to you and only your carelessness is what can lead to it being stolen and again since it's digital makes it even more easier and that's why it's always advisable to do everything pertaining the safety of your coins offline and off the internet because it can easily get hacked by expert and free loaders.
817  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin is one world currency on: February 03, 2024, 10:37:24 PM
It is impossible for the world to have just one currency because it is not just one government that is controlling the whole world,  with this one currency for the world won't be possible. If bitcoin was something so easy for the government to destroy, bitcoin won't have be existing till this time. The reason why we have bitcoin till this time is because it is decentralized and can't be manipulated by anyone. But I think if it was possible for the world to use one currency i don't think inflation will be very high.
Well we all know that this is impossible but let's look at the ups and down if actually this did happen, well first of all, variations is what even makes the crypto space interesting because humans will always like to test out their power of choice and that's what keep the human race also active. If there was only one coins then manipulation and control will of it will be a thing of joy for the government. And also the price manipulation would be a lot easier and always in favor of the actual nation that has access to controlling this cryptocurrency.

819  Other / Meta / Re: USE OF CHAT GPT-RULES on: February 03, 2024, 10:21:44 PM
I know that there are probably rules, somewhere that I haven't looked. In general I feel like noboby has really posted Rules to Chat GPT. Of course I know its foolish to use it direcly as if you are the one who created the text/thought but what about quoting? And What about as a research tool? Chat GPT really helps to you skip the learning curve if you know how to use it correctly. It has helped me loads with simply understanding complex thought that I didn't undertand. I just made a post quoting Chat GPT and I don't even know if that was following the rules. If we can't avoid it which we definitely can't, that means that Chat GPT is veriy similar to BTC in this aspect lol. What do you guys think about Chat GPT? I'd love a Btalk Bot that has kind of like a chat GPT engine but geared direclty towards helping the users/ newbies with literally anything. Would love to see this THEYMOS! I wonder if this has been discussed? Huh
Alot of members agree that this place is an interactive community so everyone should be able to converse with each other at least that's how it's supposed to work but it's just funny how people now get robots to do their chatting and conversation for them 🤔🤔. I agree that the AI helps a lot when it comes to compiling and understanding things but Atleast when it's being explained one should be able to do the rest with his own brain that actually created the actual bot that help him.  😁
820  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a generous gamblers on: February 03, 2024, 10:13:29 PM
I don't if everyone feels this effect but I think it's like a general thing though and that feeling am talking about would be the feeling of giving your gambling winning with a lot more ease than other funds. For me it's way easier to give from my gambling winning especially the ones that I tend to win so easily. It's like the funds is actually not planned for so many people like myself get a little bit confused when it comes to it proper use.
