Perhaps we head back to under 1 dollar target now

I doubt it will fall that long. I think it may keep failing for the time being because being at around 67-70% of hashrate has lost his shock value. Coinbase news also are already priced in it seems since i see no reaction. We need something new. Next push will be 75% segwit reached I guess. Until then it's anybody's guess how low it will go.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just switched to running a Bitcoin Unlimited node on: April 07, 2017, 09:44:14 PM
So you are trusting your wealth into a software that crashes because it's coded by idiots and its based upon a design that needs more than 21 million coins once all coins are mined or else the so called emergent consensus implodes.
Anyone that is running a BU node is either getting paid or is a fucking idiot.
UASF segwit and lets get this shit done already.
803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some more good news about Litecoin. on: April 07, 2017, 02:13:53 PM
Now it doesn't matter, without f2pool it's impossible to get enough hashrate, SegWit on litecoin is also dead.
who said F2pool is not supporting SegWit anymore? do you have a reference or is it your guess?!!
as far as i know f2pool never said anything about not supporting it and the evidence shows they are supporting it.
i don't know where to see the blocks and where they add the string but the percentage is still between 68% and 70% and without F2pool that percentage would have dropped down to 50% at least and then went down back to 30%

Good news is, the price increase might not be dependent on that.
well yeah but it wasn't ineffective either.

EDIT:
i found it and yes F2POOL is still signalling SegWit:
https://chain.so/LTC
https://i.imgur.com/t13t3ru.jpg

https://twitter.com/f2pool_wangchun/status/850053367988592642

They'll continue signaling but will pull out before activation.

That stupid fuck must be trolling. He is a known troll that has joked before. He signaled for literally everything in bitcoin during 1st of april.

If he pulls out in 74.9% he's gonna catch a bullet by some pissed off guy that losses millions in the process thanks to his antics. We aren't dealing with tons of BTC, but some people are putting millions of dollars worth of LTC, those guys aren't going to be happy if he actually does it.
804  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: buy when others are irrationally pessimistic or too cautious on: April 07, 2017, 01:01:07 PM
Dumped my entire LTC stack by panic selling at 0.009 to watch and see from the sidelines. The good news is I didn't lose any money, in fact I made a decent amount.I decide to stay away from this for the entire weekend, let's see if I can catch the next wave. LTC's segwit still remains closer to getting activated so the speculation-hype is still alive and I think there's money to be made in the next round.

Of course, we are all subjected to unexpected tweets by mining moguls tho so gotta pay attention to those.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: April 07, 2017, 11:57:39 AM
Do you guys really think that this fight will happen?
The whole thing looks a little off to me, why would that old Boxer try to go inside a ring with a UFC fighter? The whole thing just seems like a WWE episode.
If Mayweather goes into the Octagon with the other guy then Mayweather will lose. As for Boxing, I am pretty sure that Mcgregor will lose the match.
People watch pretty much anything on T.V nowadays.

Fight will happen 100% guaranteed at this point. Mayweather wants it because he needs some extra money. Conor wants it because he can make more money than he will in any other fight. Dana has now switched position and he thinks it will happen. It's on!!
806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: buy when others are irrationally pessimistic or too cautious on: April 06, 2017, 10:29:55 PM
It's insane to see how that chink is blatantly manipulating the market and doing insider trading with an obvious short coupled with that tweet. Then "hey, just joking, segwit continues". And now this?

https://twitter.com/f2pool_wangchun/status/850070006830292992

This guy is a troll playing with people's money. He can crash the market one tweet at a time and keep making millions from the shorts. This is a dangerous game to play when you have to show up IRL and meet investors that get fucked by your tweets.

Anyway, we can't do much follow along. Looks like segwit hype will continue with that remaining 5%, but if they do this again confidence will be destroyed. Too much of a joke to gamble anymore. As of now i'll hold and see what happens, leaving some BTC out of the game just in case.
807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 210: Cormier vs Johnson Info and Prediction Thread on: April 06, 2017, 05:20:06 PM
A nice interview with Daniel Cormier here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGyV-FMUxmc

I think it's unfortunate that DC gets always the worst odds. How can he be the underdog? DC is obviously not the underdog in this fight, he will probably win, AJ will need luck to catch him.
808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: April 06, 2017, 04:58:18 PM
New interview with Dana White on Macgregor vs Mayweather:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brcz4LsnUTo

He claims he wants to do it for Conor. Notice how he has switched position and now he went from saying the fight was impossible to saying it will happen because it's too much money on the lane.

It will definitely happen, anyone not seeing this yet is blind.
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: April 06, 2017, 02:03:58 PM
Here's an updated list of reasons I like Litecoin:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • Blocks are not full.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 2,700 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (2,700TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features and active development.
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community. Definitly helps when consensus is needed.
  • Unlike bitcoin, it is possible to make changes to litecoin.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing merchant payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/ as well as other processors such as coinpayments, Asmoney, Alfacoins and Coinify
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value. Look at the chart here indicating volume in the last 24 hours relative to other coins http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets in fact volume has remained high month after month for years.
  • The speed, liquidity and value of Litecoin is useful to traders seeking arbitrage opportunities between exchanges.
  • Now on GDAX soon to be on coinbase.
  • Upcoming release to include a on-chain adaptive block size scaling solution. This will substantially increase the transactional capacity of Litecoin.
  • Planned anonymity features for an upcoming release. https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/53c0v6/confidential_transaction_for_litecoin/
  • Fair release. In a crypto world of premined and ICO releases many appreciate this fact. The code was released well before the Genesis block was mined and everyone knew when it would be going live; therefore, individuals could anticipate and get their miners and software ready.
  • It's primary function is to be a cryptocurrency.
  • Still mineable in many western countries even after electrical costs are factored in. Here in Canada my Titans still make a profit long after shutting my Neptunes down.
  • Many low value coins can be merge mined with it increasing profits for miners
  • It will always maintain the integrity of the blockchain (no hard forks for special interests).
  • Likely the first major coin to activate segwit on it's network.
  • The possibility of utilizing sidechains for smart contracts without the possibility of corrupting the original non-turing complete blockchain.
  • Potential of using the Lightning Network as a method of increasing transactional capacity.
  • Possible block size increase if it's needed.
  • Security.

Great summary. The big killer points of LTC remain the fact that BTC is going to have big problems in order to enable segwit.

I see UASF gaining traction after the ASIC boost shit because Jihan Wu is gaining haters so UASF may have now bigger probabilities of getting adopted. In any case there are always storms brewing in the BTC community, LTC is pretty light right now.
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scaling: Looks like all roads lead to LTC on: April 06, 2017, 12:21:32 PM
That was a hell of a dip. Considering peak was 0.01134000 I got back in at a 0.0098 which may be optimistic since we may stagnate for a while on that 68% range.

Still got 50% of the remaining BTCs that im using to play with LTC hoping for a deeper dip, if it doesn't happen then oh well. As of right now its bouncing back up from that 96 ish resistance testing 0.001 again.

We have a bunch of idiots reacting to block variance thinking it's going up/down because they don't understand block variance so those small variances in the segwit % may also have an impact in market psychology.

Also notice how the segwit page was lagging because it was filled with people pressing F5.
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help LTC transaction stuck...not sure what to do? on: April 06, 2017, 11:58:15 AM
hey all, i sent a few LTC to Poloniex from my wallet this morning and the transaction is still showing 0 confirmations about 10 hours later.

I sent LTC from the same wallet to Poloniex 2 days ago and it went through in miunutes.

I cant even find the transaction ID on the blockchain explorer, it's like the transaction doesnt exist however my LTC have gone from my wallet.

Any ideas?

What wallet are you using? If you are using Litecoin Core there should be ways to make it unstuck. Did you send recommended fee?

812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Litecoin Inmediately. on: April 05, 2017, 10:58:18 PM
Ok im buying. Tell me when to stop!
Nobody can. Some think litecoin is a half-dead currency and just a clone of btc. Others think it is one of the best and will show how good it is when btc will become too expensive. I believe ltc is rather an investment for a long time and I'm thinking about buying some now since it's growing in price very FAST. And yet $10 is not that much, so it's a nice chance to buy some.
But again, creating a wallet, finding a nice website to do the thing.. I guess I'll never be a trader because mostly this is what stops me.
Price can also fall fast!! i bought at $9.5 and sold at $10.8 (didn't wanted to take risk) i made good profit lol. if price falls below $9 i'll be buying again few ltc and be holding for long term.

Looks like you fucked up. Price is going up convincingly and already past 12 dollars at BTC-E, and 0.0108 right now in Poloniex.

Im hoping for a further dip because I missed my latest buy order by a small amount fuuuck. I thin I stil can get in if the FOMO doesn't continue at this ridiculous rate.
813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Litecoin Inmediately. on: April 05, 2017, 07:07:47 PM
0.01 BTC psych barrier was crossed, looks like maybe it's time to give it a rest and buy cheaper in a couple of hours? only one way to find out.
814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Litecoin Inmediately. on: April 05, 2017, 06:21:22 PM
Big whale caught with a big ass wall:

Look at the 950k sats one

780 BTC that's insane

Pretty funny how I saw that wall disappear and appear a couple times.

Probably a whale with some short positions scared of the price going up and getting destroyed, or a whale accumulate under 0.001

So far it's holding pretty well

Edit: holy hell, just saw that wall get eaten in less than a minute

815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scaling: Looks like all roads lead to LTC on: April 05, 2017, 05:08:38 PM
LTC has its biggest purpose to date in getting segwit on bitcoin. The BU team will be trying hard to stop this im guessing, they should just give up now though.

I would like to see segwit to be activated for LTC even though there are no many everyday transactions as @alyssa85 already stated. Maybe is a good way for people without deep technological background and experience like me to end up with their own practical conclusions.

The only reason LTC doesn't get as many transactions is lack of network effect, that's all. Technically, it is already a better coin for transactions than BTC. After LTC gets segwit and LN, there are no excuses to make transactions under BTC instead of LTC, unless you really need to do it under BTC. For everyday transactions, LTC + segwit + LN is the ideal coin, nothing can outmatch it.

Everyone developing LN technology will pay attention to LTC and implement it there thanks to segwit and thanks to LTC basically being the same as BTC so everything translates easily.

Also I see Blockstream starting to work under a segwit-enabled LTC to showcase their technology and try to convince remaining miners to signal for segwit. Otherwise they may become irrelevant.
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scaling: Looks like all roads lead to LTC on: April 05, 2017, 04:16:04 PM
LTC is nothing without BTC, because BTC developers are the best and LTC depends on BTC developers.
They don't need Bitcoin anymore, they copied whatever they wanted and that is enough.

I don't see why LTC can't go back to $50+ since BTC is trapped in this situation where it refuses to change.
Because we have ETH which become number 2 altcoin and it will be hard for LTC to regain this position.
Just wait when Ethereum will have Raiden, we wouldn't even talk about Litecoin with SegWit by that time.

I love the fact that activation of SegWit for LTC might finally change situation for BTC as well.
That is basically all I am waiting for.

ETH doesn't have the properties of money that are needed to be proper money.. since when money is a turin complete computer?

LTC is much more simpler and straight to the point. With segwit and LN it accomplishes what BTC would if it wasn't for the fact that it's way harder to change, but at the same time LTC gives me more confidence than ETH in terms of a smart contract crashing DAO style, Vitalik rollbacking and so on.

I think both ETH and LTC are good medium term holders in any case.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin scaling: Looks like all roads lead to LTC on: April 05, 2017, 02:41:56 PM
If there is a contentious HF and Jihad Wu actually pushes with his hashrate to force it: big price crash and BTC refugees go to alts = LTC will benefit

If miners keep blocking progress (segwit which enables proper LN etc etc) Bitcoin will never scale and will remain as immutable gold: people will search for fast velocity alts = LTC will benefit

If segwit is forced via UASF this will cause big tensions because like it or not it's a bit of a controversial feature and may cause price crashes, aggressive miners etc = LTC will benefit

If somehow BUcoin wins and there's a PoW change to defend from it creating a clusterfuck of a situation where a lot of innocent miners go out of business = LTC will benefit

Once LTC gets segwit, all LN development will move there because who wants to develop under crippled mode (no segwit) when you have LTC, which is a BTC clone which actually scales and has the network effect of the original alt?
And also has a chinese developer which is very diplomatic and will find agreements with miners?

The ideal outcome of all of this is of course BTC getting segwit via miners agreeing to 95% signaling but let's be realistic, this will never happen.

So the second best outcome looks like BTC should remain immutable hodl coin used as gold, while LTC is a more malleable with actual possible agreements thanks to its 75% activation threshold which is about to deliver us segwit without any clusterfucks and internal war, which means LN would kick in in full force, which means LTC would be used as a coin for minor transactions while BTC remains the gold of crypto.

Discuss.
818  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: buy when others are irrationally pessimistic or too cautious on: April 05, 2017, 12:19:39 PM
Jihan Wu is a bitch, i want to see segwit get activated just to see him cry.

Btw, why does LTC's segwit need 75% to activate while BTC needs 95%? I mean who and how were such thresholds decided? Are those decided by the creators of the coins and hard coded the same way 21 million coins are set since the beginning? what would it take to change the actual threshold? would changing that threshold make it into an altcoin?
819  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: buy when others are irrationally pessimistic or too cautious on: April 05, 2017, 12:05:12 AM
I believe Jilian Wu is using any diversionary excuse he can to make sure SegWit isn't activated any where, including Litecoin.

In other words, I think he tries to create political division, so that no protocol modifications can happen. He pretends is for things, but this is just diversionary IMO.

He wants to maximize the fees they can gouge from the power brokers of Bitcoin and/or he is a power broker. The link I provided explains the math of the game theory involved that is driving the stalemate.

They seem to have become more aggressive in past day or two on proposals, because they probably want to try to pull support away from Litecoin's attempt to activate SegWit. Erik of ShapeShift may just be a pawn, or he may be aware of and part of the manipulations. I haven't tried to dig on that aspect.

But we'll see how it turns out...

We are at near 70%, it's so close.  A single small time whale could push it to 75%+, then we would see if Jihan and co strike back.

In general I agree with the importance of LTC in your thesis of a blocked BTC, but how does UASF fit in?

What if UASF gets approved and BTC gets segwit? wouldn't that undermine LTC's segwit+LN value proposition?

Roger Ver's dimension has been hard forked and now he's trapped in a parallel universe where 48h means 48years. In his universe also BU has economic majority support.
