I was a signature participants and I opt for KMD payment, can I participate in voting? as far as I know signature participants are not going to get their tokens any soon, does it mean we would not be able to vote?

The KMD bounties and payments will be done after the election, so you cannot vote with them. This includes the KMD salary/bounty payments our team members will receive, which means the elections are decided by the investors.

Why do we need 2 weeks for notary node elections?  This is the first election and as it appears, all the candidates are very likely going to get elected. So what's the point in making the process that long?

The elections are important, and we must give enough time for everyone to participate. No ninja elections Smiley

We understand that everyone would like to see KMD on the markets, but basically there's no real rush to do this. We want to make sure we get a good network up with quality notary noes, thus 2 week elections.

Can one of the leaders give some more detailed information about the Snapshot stuff

Certainly!

I'll try to clear out all the uncertainty & misunderstandings

We try to swap all BTCD there exist throughout 1 full year. If someone has BTCD it can be swapped, no matter when it is bought. You could buy BTCD 6 months from now and swap it for KMD.

BTCD Snapshot to get REVS

 - The snapshot is not related to BTCD swap.
 - The snapshot is to get an additional asset called REVS.
 - The privatekeys are used to redeem the asset.
 - The snapshot has not happened yet!
 - to participate the BTCD can be stored either in a BTCD address under your control, or in our ICO site

BTCD Swap to get KMD

 - has nothing to do with the snapshot
 - is done through the ICO site
 - lasts 1 full year
 - swapped BTCD ends up to our account, where it is publicly visible (nothing will happen to the swapped BTCD)
 - hopefully every single BTCD coin will get swapped during the year

Schedule

 - ICO site accepts BTCD
 - 7 days after that BTCD snapshot happens & the swapping begins
 - Elections begin, and last 2 weeks
 - Elections are over, elected notary nodes will get ratified, KMD will be distributed

The conclusion

If you buy BTCD it can be swapped at any time. To also receive the REVS asset you need to have a privatekey that contained BTCD during the snapshot. BTCD swap and snapshot are two separate things.

During the year BTCD can be swapped for KMD with the exchange rate we announced: 1 BTCD = 50.448 KMD (However the exchange rate decreases slightly throughout the year because BTCD staking expands the supply)

Go to the komodo ICO site and make sure the KMD address you see there matches with the seed/passphrase you have saved.

I'm confused, how can I do that? How can I check if phrase matches KMD address?

Here are instructions:

How to check you got the right passphrase/seed!

-> "check KMD address"
-> enter passphrase / seed
---> it returns the public KMD address

then it should match with your active KMD address above it

Example:

In the above picture the KMD addresses don't match, and there's a problem (the seed is incorrect).

The answer is now also available on our useresponse site: https://komodoplatform.useresponse.com/knowledge-base/article/how-do-i-check-i-got-the-right-seedpassphrase

Hi, there. I wanna to ask something. I deposited Btcs 2 monthes ago and have a profile on the website komodoplatform.com with some KMD Balance.

What can I do right now? Just wait? I don't see any options to withdraw neither I don't know where I can do that )

Yes just wait for the elections to start... and after those we will distribute the KMD.

There's is one thing you should do right now though, and we have said it before, but it is important so I'll say it again and again Smiley

Verify your seed/passphrase!

Go to the komodo ICO site and make sure the KMD address you see there matches with the seed/passphrase you have saved. Then make sure you keep it in safe place, and remember that we don't have your seed! You are responsible for your own money, and after the KMD distribution there is no way to undo what is done.

If you lose your seed, you lose your investment.
804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: December 29, 2016, 10:17:25 AM
been out of the loop...

all i need to know is:

where do i go to get my komodo when ready

All can be done through our ICO site.
 - if you invested with BTC you will get your KMD coins there
 - you can vote through the ICO site
 - soon you will be able to deposit BTCD's that will be automatically swapped for KMD
 - if you deposit the BTCD before the snapshot is taken, then you will also get the REVS asset

The only thing you MUST do is secure your passphrase/seed. We don't have it, so make sure you got the right one somewhere safe. You can check that the public KMD address matches with the seed you got through the ICO site.

After the KMD is distributed there is no way to recover any KMD without the passphrase/seed, and we don't have those!

How to claim newsletter bounty?

We sent an email to every winner. To claim you had to reply and include your KMD address. If you did that then it's all good!

The bounty will be send at the same time we distribute the KMD.

Is there a specific eta for when Komodo will be released I seen maybe 3 weeks just seeing is there a specific date announced?

There isn't yet. The situation has been the same: we are waiting for the ICO website to support BTCD deposit, so we can take the snapshot, start the swap, and then start the elections. This delay has given time for jl777 to code DEX features into KMD/notary nodes, so now it looks like there's no need for any hardforks after we have launched.

What conditions need to be met b4 unity starts producing dividends? Else what is the point to hodl unity?

First we need to finish the platform/framework level of SuperNET, which includes Iguana & Komodo. Then we can continue to develop the reference applications we are making, such as InstantDEX and Pangea. EasyDEX is almost there, so it could start generating some revenue for its asset holders.

Komodo is the thing to follow right now. You can sign up to our newsletter on komodoplatform.com website.

How long do you expect will it take?

That it starts to pay dividends? Impossible to say at this point. I'm sure we will be a lot wiser in a few months.
807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: December 28, 2016, 05:51:34 PM
I was reading this page:

https://moneroforcash.com/monero-vs-dash-vs-zcash-vs-bitcoinmixers.php

And one of the drawback of Zcash was described as:

"Zcash requires a Trusted Setup. This means that you have to trust that the Zcash system was set up without any backdoors, potential for eavsdropping or monitoring of your transactions, or any other nefarious purposes. As we've seen with virtually all large software companies, such as Microsoft, Apple, and even governments, they can't be trusted. Trusting people you don't know in those positions makes no sense. Trusting in only math is better.

A Trusted Setup system also means that the Zcash developers could produce more Zcash at any time without anyone knowing, thus inflating the Zcash economy while making themselves rich. If a hacker gained access to the system, he could do the same thing...and nobody would necessarily know."

Will Komodo have these same flaws???

Here is a piece I wrote earlier on the subject:

Quote
Komodo uses the same zkSNARK parameters as Zcash.  We have not generated them, we are using what the Zcash team has created.   Genesis Block creation  is different than zkSNARK creation.

As of this time we have no reason to doubt that the Zcash team performed its parameter generation without collusion towards the end of "creating money out of thin air".    What people seem to forget is that the Zcash team is a legitimate company and many who are on their team are well-respected professionals.  If collusion did happen between the participants of the parameter generating ceremony, the company would be in a hell of a lot of legal trouble  not to mention many of the individuals careers would be over.   The consequences of being caught combined with the limited amounts of gains from collusion  ( only profitable if amount of transparent coins is under the amount of coin supply ) makes the likelihood of the toxic waste having been reassembled very minuscule.

In addition the extensive "ceremony" used in parameter generation makes it very unlikely that an outside party would have compromised them.

As to why we do not generate our own parameters and have our own ceremony

1)  We could not accomplish the same degree of security and procedure that the Zcash team had for the ceremony.
2)  Having our own ceremony would do nothing to alleviate the constant FUD surrounding the infintismal likelihood of the "toxic waste" being reassembled, and would in fact just bring in more illegitimate criticisms because we would not have done an extensive ceremony as Zcash did or rumors that the Komodo team was somehow colluding.

By using their parameters we rid ourselves of that headache.

This answer can now be found from our useresponse website: https://komodoplatform.useresponse.com/knowledge-base/article/how-will-komodo-solve-the-trusted-setup-problem-of-zcash

We have answered this question quite many times, here's a couple more answers:

Is komodo going to keep all BB, Byteball, for themselves or are they going to give it partially back to the community who generously made this all avaialable? Lisk and Waves seems to be doing the last thing..

is it true that komodo funds have been used to participate in the byteball distribution? if so, will we see some of that?
Byteball looks like a promising technology and we consider it as a long term investment. We will use the byteballs for working capital.

So why does Komodo keep their BB share and Why do Lisk and Waves give it back to the community, is this the mindset we can expect for the road ahead?

This made me curious, what is the hourly wage The komodo team counts for it self? 100 dollar per hour?

Why is no one asking these questions? Is everyone in a Bliss?

We want to finish our platform and all the things we are building on top. To make sure that happens we want to get all the funding we can get. There are a lot of uncertainty still, as KMD is not even trading and we have promised a minimum revenue for these expensive notary nodes.

During the ICO jl777 was asked what we do with the byteballs we get. The answer was that we very well could distribute them to investors in a high end scenario where we raise 5000 - 10 000 BTC. We raised 2600 BTC and thus we will keep the byteballs as an investment.

The SuperNET organization has been here a long time, and its history has invelved a lot of up & downs. A lot of our capital was in NXT, which has lost a lot of value. Basically the development has continued under bear market conditions, and yet we are here! And through this whole time we have stayed loyal to our investors, and we will continue to do so.

We are really happy what we got during the ICO, and it is enough to make our vision happen. With more funding we could have hired more people though, so if these byteballs become worth something we could increase our burn-rate and get faster development. Right now we are working with what we got, and we will continue to operate under a strict budget that will ensure development long into the future.

January 2017?

Yes, it looks like it won't begin before that. Anyway it will definitely happen in January. The KMD distribution will happen about 3 weeks from that.

I think most have missed the fact that this native DEX based ecosystem already solves the scaling problem as overall capacity can be increased just by spawning new blockchains. native DEX can then allow tokens to flow between the chains based on market price or 1:1 pegs or pricefeeds.

This whould be a killer, IMO.  I hope there would be good documentation on how to do this, so, say, I would be able to create zero-knowledge token, pegged to a local currency and instantly available on DEX.
./komodod -ac_name=YOURTOKEN -ac_supply=1000000 -gen
./komodod -ac_name=YOURTOKEN -ac_supply=1000000

do the above command line on two different nodes. The -gen node will mine 100 blocks. At that point, the blocks are on-demand so if no tx, then no blocks. You will be able to DEX YOURTOKEN based on the YOURTOKEN name.

We will need to have some way to resolve name collisions, but if the ac_name and ac_supply are the same, it is the same chain.

Would be there a name conflict is `ac_name` is the same, but `ac_supply` is different?

Any ideas about making name squatting expensive?

the above command line autogenerates genesis, etc. and issues 1 million YOURTOKEN coins. it is zero-knowledge enabled. however the fiat pegging is limited to the pax fiat chains. It requires a decentralized gateway and notary nodes, so not something that can be a standalone assetchain

Will be there more docs on that?
I submitted a first draft on pax whitepaper, but not sure its status

We plan to release it around / after the time we distribute KMD!

New update from boogieman!

Quote from: boogieman
Iguana Update #17

If you have been good kids during the year, Santa will bring you an Iguana application on your device on the New Year Eve. But you were not. )

We have first Windows and Chrome versions of the Iguana app, they are in test now and are more likely to be ready for a public beta after NY night.

I wish this progress report were not on the official Iguana promo site yet, that's why I asked the Old Laplandian to put the Iguana site along as the new SuperNET site with downloadable applications under the tree.

Thu GUI
We have completed all features allocated for 0.2 and now busy with closing blockers and solving light issues

Mind, that the GUI will be in 0.xx state until we have all wallet and now exchange essential features onboard and working.
Even though we have already applied a bulk of tests, which will make 0.2 version the first properly tested version, more bug reports from users and community testers are expected.  More details you will find in 0.2 release notes.

Chrome App
Iguana multi-cryptocurrency & blockchain light app is ready to be published on Chrome Store.  Now it is available to SuperNET testers only. So do not rush to install it to your browsers. Soon we will announce when it will be open to public.

Windows App
As we decided to bundle wallet features with Easy-Dex features and Komodo daemon, there some issues with building a fully and properly working desktop application.
Yesterday, I gave a quick test to a Windows x64 version. I downloaded the files, launched the Iguana app and created a Komodo wallet.  Soon I will give a  better personal test to all the wallet and exchange features and implemented settings.

Mac App
Tests are showing that the app stops after a short running, no issues causing that discovered yet, but we have Komodo daemon working on MacOS.

Web Hosted  App
Iguana promo site will have its functionality in a demo mode. We just need to wait for some security checks to start mounting it.

Resume
The day when the world will witness Iguana is inevitably approaching. )

I see 1 btc worth btcd is about 14k kmd, so buy kmd to sawp is better than btc investment? And we need to withdraw them? The date of snapshot?

Yes, that is what the math currently says. We will announce the date for the snapshot when we know it.

The swap will happen through our ICO site.

Can't wait for KMD to launch! Only regret was not investing during the ICO bonus period Sad

On the contrary to what many people believe... it is still possible to invest in KMD even though the ICO is over. You can just buy BTCD, and depending on its market price you might get a good bonus compared to what people paid during the ICO. The BTCD price has declined along with the other altcoins while the BTC price has risen.

The KMD price during the ICO with 0% bonus: 1 BTC = 7746,521995 KMD

BTCD swap rate: 1 BTCD = 50,42041779 KMD

I'll try to clear out all the uncertainty & misunderstandings

Byteball looks like a promising technology and we consider it as a long term investment. We will use the byteballs for working capital.

I apologize for a probably dumb question, but I bought some BTCD and trying to figure out how to store it safely. I am using the BitcoinDark Wallet for Windows (the QT one, I guess) and I used the Console to extract my private keys for the receiving addresses that I have in the wallet with funds on them.

I assume that's technically all I need to do (keep those private keys secured and safe elsewhere for a backup), but what do I need to backup from the wallet itself?   Just the wallet.dat file?

Also I wish there was some way to have all the BitcoinDark files on an encrypted drive and not just sitting there on my C drive.  Is there a way to change the settings of the client so it can find the blk001.dat file and the others in a different location?

I guess I have the private keys written down for my public addresses, I don't really even need to have the Wallet itself installed, but not sure yet and not to that point.

Thanks for any help and I'm looking forward to converting these BTCD to KMD in a few weeks if it's ready by then.

- you should encrypt the wallet if you haven't done so already
- BTCD privatekey is enough (but in order to send them out you will need to have a fully synced client where you import the keys)
- Yes also backup the wallet.dat file

I have some BTCD on the bittrex exchange  I do not know how to swap it for KMD?
Please give me a short explain for this . Thank you.

You can swap it when the BTCD deposit feature is enabled on our ICO site. There's more info in the post above your post.

The situation is still the same as it was before: we are waiting for this one thing. We are sorry for the situation as it has taken quite long to enable the BTCD feature on our ICO site.

As soon as we are ready to move forward we will announce it here, in our social media and via our newsletter.

If someone have BTCD on bittrex than he have to move his funds to your site to swap it. You have to ask from bittrex to do swap for all BTCD holders.

Yes, the owner of those coins must swap them through our ICO site. There will be 365 days to do it.

However Bittrex won't do the swap, because it is the choice of the investor if he wants to swap or not. Of course we highly recommend everyone to swap as BTCD won't have any devs left. Komodo is the future!

oh right, totally forgot about the REV asset. I was wondering if REV asset is a one time payment for BTCD revenue sharing before conversion to KMD or is REV going to be somehow bought back increasing its value. Will there be ongoing payment for KMD holders or REV holders? Also do i get any passive income by holding KMD, like i did with BTCD with staking and revenue sharing?

KMD is a coin, it doesn't receive any dividends. However it does have 5% APR built into it, which means you will automatically receive new coins. The 5% APR stops after we reach the maximum supply in 14 years or so.
