8001  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Account Deletion on: January 21, 2019, 03:06:48 AM
There's no option to delete your account from the system even the mods can't help you.  the only option is to abandon it and move on.
It's not possible. Just abandon it.

Do this: if you want your record to non exist on forum, Delete all the deletable post and edit the non deletable ones to trash and move them to archive board. Then change your password to something you can't remember, also change your email to an invalid email then abandon your account. That way you can't reactive your account and it'll be forgotten.

Second option: Get yourself banned.

I get you feel that way about your ranking up. Like they say it's only a poor man that thinks money will make him happy but realizes that's isn't true when he finally gets the money. Once again congratulations r1s2g3,

Scretely watching your account grow have been my motivation. I remember telling myself I own you for this post. i congratulated you when you achieved full memeber rank and I also celebrate you now as you achieve snr member rank and can't wait to congratulate you for future ranks.

+1 merit to start your Hero member rank journey  Congratulations once again.
8003  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos and mods - rule 26 validity in META - censorship of relevant facts ? on: January 20, 2019, 09:19:29 PM
The administrators knows what's best for the forum. if they see any reason for a self moderated topic on meta board they'll implement it.  Beside those were just suggestions by other forum users, the forum is open for suggestions that'll better it that's why we have the meta board. you can counter their suggestions and it's will be left for theymos to make his disscussion.

8004  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trade self-moderated topics with caution – it’s possibly a scam! on: January 20, 2019, 07:26:08 PM
Do you know if some threads are already showing the new feature?

Yes it's now showing on all self-moderated topic, LoyceV was the first forum user to indicate he saw the notification on his self-moderated topic. I think he's the user that uses that feature the most so it was fair he was the first to notice it.

I'll update here if it shows up.
And there it is:

8005  Other / Meta / Re: Stop staking your bitcoin address. That is not enough to recover your account. on: January 20, 2019, 12:16:08 PM
OP of that topic stated clearly, staking your bitcoin isn't a guarantee that you account would be recovered. The staking is just one of the many method/ process needed to prove you are the rightful owner of the account in question.

In his words
It's not 100% guaranteed that you'll get your account back, but it's a pretty good start. Of course, if your account is compromised, the hacker could just come back to this thread and edit/delete whatever address you post here, so that's why I'm asking people to quote the address posted by the preceding user in this thread.

8006  Other / Meta / Re: PHI1618's Merit Source Application on: January 20, 2019, 11:24:36 AM

PHI1618, I believe to get considered, you'll have to follow rules.  Forget about much unnecessary burden on the page by quotes and do as the rules say. The quoting was added so it will be easier to read without visiting the original thread.

If you want to be a merit source:

 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.

Goodluck with your application.

Thank you for your kind attention. I'm updating my application right now.

I'm Glad you took my advice and added the quotes, your application now looks mature and I'm sure when theymos needs more merit source you'll be among the selected ones.

+1merit, you earned my support.
8007  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion about merit system on: January 20, 2019, 11:15:34 AM
Lol, this is the funnies post I have read this year.  In OP's mind when creating this topic, he was writing one hell of a post that'll earn him the merits he thinks he deserve. I just checked user post history and he's a local/off-topic board poster. Could be someone suggested to him if he posts about merit on meta he'll get some. Lol 5activitiy =1 merit 😂  even those that receive the airdrop early last year didn't get that much
8008  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion about acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Community values. DT on: January 20, 2019, 09:31:48 AM
Here are some reason one shouldn't leave a negative feedback I highlighted on my post on the Beginners & Help board

How not to use the negative feedback

[1] Do not leave a negative feedback (red tag) a user for violating forum rules unless on rare occasions. source e.g Don't red tag a user for ban evasion, plaragism etc instead report user to appropriate authority (moderators)

[2] Do not leave a false negative feedback, offenders might get red tag for this act if proving to be a false red tag.

[3] Do not leave a negative feedback without reference (evidence) this will be seen as an accusation

[4] Do not red tag a user for having alternative account unless the Alt account was bought or used for bad intentions like trust/merit abuse

[5] Do not leave a negative feedback for disliking another user.

[6] Don't turn leaving of negative feedback into a daily job or hobby, only do it when necessary.

[7] Do not leave a negative feedback based on other people judgement (they could be wrong)

8009  Economy / Reputation / Re: There are far too many accounts with 1 merit on: January 20, 2019, 08:52:32 AM
The only time an account should be investigated for merit abuse is when the account receives 5-10merits or above for a shitpost especially one line replies. Even though an account receive 20-50merit for a quality post that shouldn't be considered as merit abuse because even theymos said
you only see 3 merit-worthy posts in a month, then I'd rather you over-give each of them 50 merit than let the merit expire. That way there are more people capable of sending merit, and the "merit economy" is less top-down.
I know he was referring to merit source but average users can also send that amount not everyone is willing to search through forum and be meriting every quality post they see 1merit until they finish  their smerit.

In conclusion leave the accounts with just 1merit alone and search for bigger fish.
8010  Other / Meta / Re: Overview: Where is trust visible / self-moderation allowed? on: January 20, 2019, 08:34:11 AM
Nice work mate,  don't forget to inform them that they can now see stats of delete normal and merited post which will help determine if the self-moderate topic is worth commenting on. In theymos words;
In the "This is a self-moderated topic" warning, stats will now be printed about how many posts have been deleted if any posts have been deleted. The stats start now, not the beginning of time, and they are cached for quite some time. If any of the deleted posts had any merit before they were deleted, then this whole stat block will be printed in bold.

As of current we can't see the records but only the stats of the deleted posts but hoping in near future the links will be made available. So we can see the post deleted and know those abusing the privilege of self-moderating their topic and maybe get a ban from using the feature.
8011  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trade self-moderated topics with caution – it’s possibly a scam! on: January 20, 2019, 02:15:13 AM
Like I said earlier,
The administrator are fast thinkers, they knew the feature (self-moderation) can be misuse by scammers and provide a solution on time.
theymos just added another feature which wil serve as a warning to prevent you from making trade on self-moderate topic that has some replies deleted. It goes like this

And in the near future we might be able to see the deleted replies and more solution tackling this issue will be implemented. Until then trade with caution.
8012  Other / Meta / Re: Advantage & disadvantage of new default trust (DT) selection system on: January 19, 2019, 10:34:59 PM
Is dt post a new means of searching for merit ever since the dt update was done we have seen several post about it some of which are not so different from those that was previously discussed before it.
Can the trend just stop and save the forum from discussing on issue that has already been discussed

Everybody is free to air their views that's why it's called a forum. If you see a post you don't like use the ignore button or better still visit other board and make your contribution. It's the meta board and things about the forum are meant to be discussed here. If you come across a topic that has already been discussed and you feel it shouldn't be on the board report the post and mod will have the final say.
8013  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide]: How not to use the negative feedback aka red tag. on: January 19, 2019, 05:25:15 PM
I have also come across a situation where a user was red tagged for possible pliagarism whilst the account was not banned.

Yes I have also seen such a feedback, I also saw a negative feedback for ban evasion and it mislead me to start tagging user for that offends until I asked suchmoon if that was right and he said nope and that lead me to writing this guide concentrating on negative feedbacks.

PS: : I just updated topic, Visit Discussion about acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Community values. DT for more understanding on how the trust feedbacks (positive and negative) should be used.
8014  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion about acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Community values. DT on: January 19, 2019, 04:54:58 PM
Don't forget:
2. Leaving fake negative ratings <- I'm pushing the bar with this as many people are self-censoring themselves and not acting on it.

I highlighted this on my topic posted few minutes before this post was done you can find it here ([Guide]: How not to use the negative feedback aka red tag.)

I believe the forum should have an official guidelines on leaving feedbacks and can be updated regularly as new offends comes out.
8015  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide]: How not to use the negative feedback aka red tag. on: January 19, 2019, 04:35:49 PM
I think people on the Beginners & Help board will be rather puzzled as to what all this Trust business is all about, and at what point it may be relevant to them both in terms of usage and interpretation of scores and feedback.

Perhaps the OP could start with a summary (or links) to information on the Trust System itself

S_Therapist got all these covered with his posts and he always add links to other posts relating to the trust system examples:
[Explained] Importance of Custom Trust List
[Updated]--[Infographic] Leaving Feedback vs Custom Trust List
[Explained] How DT system works
[Explained] How Trust Score is calculated

And one of his post was directly under mine so I thought it won't be necessary to repeat the same thing but thanks  for the info.

Additionally, it may be interesting to see all four combinations for trust feedback:
-   Use positive feed back for.
-   Don’t use positive feed back for.
-   Use negative feed back for.
-   Don’t use negative feed back for (OP).

Thought about this but decide to tackle the Negative feedback aspect first. Because when a user get red tagged, the account losses some benefit the average forum users gets. that's why I want them to get it right when leaving negative feedbacks.

I saw a thread by @xtraelv today that is rather related (see re: Discussion about acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Community values. DT ).

I notice xtraelv posted his Today at 02:51:24 AM and I posted mine Today at 02:12:42 PM that's about 38mins difference.  He has more experience so his could be better.
8016  Other / Beginners & Help / [Guide]: How not to use the negative feedback aka red tag. on: January 19, 2019, 02:12:42 PM
For some weeks now the hottest topic on forum is the Trust system with more epehesis on custom trust list and DT members both on meta and reputation boards. I picked interest in getting to understand what the trust system is and how to use it but can't find any guidance on how not to use it.  So I decide to write this guide after asking some questions and I got answers.

How not to use the negative feedback

[1] Do not leave a negative feedback (red tag) a user for violating forum rules unless on rare occasions. source e.g Don't red tag a user for ban evasion, plaragism etc instead report user to appropriate authority (moderators)

[2] Do not leave a false negative feedback, offenders might get red tag for this act if proven to be a false red tag.

[8] Do not leave a negative feedback because you disagree with users religion statements or user is criticizing you or others.

[9] Do not leave a negative feedback because account is promoting referral link or altcoin

Note: The moment you start leaving negative feedbacks on other users accounts, you'll make enemies and probably get false red tags so you have to read these quotes on how false negative feedback (red tags) can be handled

The best way to handle it is to appeal the red trust with the person who wrote it. However, the only way the person's red tag shows up on the trust numbers for an individual depends on their trust settings. Otherwise, it just shows up under the section "untrusted feedback." Most people have not fiddled with their trust settings, so it is set on default trust with a depth of 2. If you have customized your trust setting and want to see what your score looks like under the default settings, just go to a page with a post of yours in a section that displays the trust scores. Then after the url just add ;dt. If the tag doesn't show up on default trust, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, although these false tags may be more of a concern if there is a big move for people to start to customize their trust lists. For example, on my untrusted feedback I have someone accusing me of spreading a fictitious disease to newbies.  Cheesy

First thing you need to do - stop worrying about ludicrous retaliatory feedback. It's unavoidable but it has no effect on you and you shouldn't waste time appealing it. Trust is not moderated. You will not get it removed unless the sender agrees to do that (in rare cases extreme trust spam may be removed but don't count on that).

Edit: Visit Discussion about acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Community values. DT for more understanding on how the trust feedbacks (positive and negative) should be used.
8017  Other / Meta / Re: Minor selfmod enhancement on: January 19, 2019, 04:07:40 AM
How about a link log of the deleted posts that can be available for public viewing it include when it was posted and when it has been deleted

If this can be made available then it'll give the forum another shape helping in spoting those users abusing the self-moderation privilege on topic and defaulters should be banned from having the privilege of self moderating their topics. But until then showing of just the stat is a great step so it's OK +1
8018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What do you think about grin as payment options on BT on: January 19, 2019, 03:54:45 AM
Grin as seen from Source is aiming to be a scalable privacy coin that has no addresses, no amounts, and is therefore less storage intensive than other privacy coins and digital currencies. Grin coin is also an implementation of the MimbleWimble protocol. If you haven't heard about the coin or what to know more about the new payment option on bitcointalk visit my source above

Just like bitcoin, grin has an anonymous founder and now theymos like it or not just gave the coin an indirect endorsement like I said here
This is what we call indirect endorsement. Just wait for the cryptonews media to handle the rest publicity. Very soon you'll see news likes
Quote
Cryptocurrencies biggest and oldest forum "bitcointalk" co-founded by satoshi himself accepts GRIN as a means of payment
and the so called crypto-experts on twitter and YouTube will add to the hype by adding it to their top altcoin to watchout for in 2019. Some might even say GRIN is the new BITCOIN Grin. although If I was a part of this project the news above (grins added as means of payment on bitcointalk) will be advertise on grin site. This wasn't the intention of theymos although when a forum like bitcointalk accepts you as a means of payment it's an indirect endorsement sending signals to potential investors that the project is a go for...

Back to my topic, as grin have been accepted as a payment option that means the administrator trust grin to succeed. Are we looking at another bitcoin in the making and what do you think about grin.
8019  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: US Telegram Account on: January 19, 2019, 03:05:33 AM
I need a US telegram account.

If you're thinking of buying an account then Visit the marketplace board and use any of the goods sub-board like Digital goods but be careful of scammer and only trade with those with green (positive tag or neutral) never trade with those in red tag.

About the DM;  have you tried using the telegram spam bot to identify the reason you can't PM those not in your contact first sometimes could be because of your DM were reported to be spam.
8020  Economy / Reputation / Re: Need opinions about few fake ICO who have listed on Dex or worst C-ex on: January 18, 2019, 08:29:36 PM
Coins/tokens listing on exchange doesn't disprove the fact they're scam project. Take Bitconnect as an example, it was listed on even major exchange and had a rank of Top20 at some point on coinmarketcap. So these scam coins listing on exchange doesn't change the fact they're scam.  It's crypto bro,  people will trade anything. One of the exchange listing this scam tokens especially those that did selfdrop is mercatox.

Beside on most DEX you can trade tokens without official listing on the platform so a token trading on DEX shouldn't deserve you it's legitimate
