8021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Dash undervalued? on: September 25, 2020, 05:04:20 PM
Do you think Dash is undervalued? If not, why? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
Dash is not undervalued at all, it still makes its way to top 30 cryptocurrencies. But, there are many coins that have lower value to dash that have the features you mentioned above. What I noticed is that a coin can receive attentions from whales and many other investors, very possible Dash has potential to be pumped and make it way higher, and being at the 29th with a marketcap of $661.20 million as of the time I was writing this, it is still a very strong currency.

Dash is a strong currency.
8022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roskomnadzor blacklists Binance in Russia on: September 25, 2020, 04:39:08 PM
Russia’s telecom regulator blacklists Binance website
https://cointelegraph.com/news/russia-s-telecom-regulator-blacklists-binance-website/amp

Despite the domain being placed on the list of prohibited websites, Russians can still access it without any additional tools like a VPN. As of press time, the URL can be found on the official register of blacklisted sites of Roskomnadzor. According to the data, the website was listed on June 2, 2020, while the access to the website “is not limited.”

To this extent the real reasons behind this remain unknown.
According to the announcement, Binance has been placed in the list due to distribution of data related to the acquisition of digital currencies like Bitcoin (BTC). Gleb Kostarev, Binance’s head of operations for Russia and the CIS, told Cointelegraph that the exchange announced the news immediately after the exchange received a notification from Roskomnadzor.

To this extent the real reasons behind this remain unknown. Is this a new attempt to cripple blockchain and its descendant coins?
What are your thoughts?

So far other exchanges are not among, I do not think they have any plan against blockchain and its descendants.

I like the write up, but I will like you to include the recent one which seems more like the ICO, which are some DeFi projects. Many people have although gained this years from DeFi but many people have also been scammed this year alone. I hope we have known many scam in DeFi while the last one I knew about for now was about Tron that legitimized a project that pulled an exit scam. There are many of such scam now and will not be the last. You can read about the scam by click below link.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/tron-legitimized-a-project-before-it-pulled-an-exit-scam-community-says/amp

People need to have an excellent knowledge about DeFi project before investing because it can be scam.

Surprise surprise, as we move more and more into a digital world, it ain't stopping soon!

While operating systems and or internet services in general have been trying to make their ecosystems as secure as possible, one of the best ways to secure yourself is to educate yourself. In the first place, social engineering attacks whereas the hackers attack the weakest point(the user itself), has been one of the most effective types of attacks since you don't even need to be a best developer to be able to trick people into handing over important data.
You are right, I made a topic recently about how the world are not focusing on educating people about scam. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277727.0 but, they may only want to be a barrier for the decentralization of the internet. Check my later reply below that prove that even governments are not working towards educating people about how to avoid scam.

Yes, you are right. Even, very possible there will be an increase in the scam rate after the implementation of decentrlaized internet. But, people should understand that nobody may help during scam to safe victims. Government like it or not, decentralization is on the rise, they do need to be only looking for ways to protect people, they should also teach people ways to protect themselves. During my university days, I remember I was taught a lot in General Studies, but educating us about how to avoid scam which will even interest students was not included, even a course to be taught even in lower grade schools. Governments should try to also look for means to educate people that did not go to school on how to avoid scam using practical examples.

I like how the decentralized internet will be, it will be more robust in efficiency than today's internet. That, it will be good for governments to also focus on educating people about scam. The knowledge the guy above had even helped him to avoid such phishing scam.

An employee that didn't know better on each network accidentally clicked a link in a phishing email - and midt things csn be compromised by phishing...
I can not believe scams that are avoidable by not clicking malware links are becoming dangerous in this world. A certain type of malware has got people killed in the hospital. You can watch the video in the OP and check about a woman that died due to hospital hack that lead to hospital service not rendered to the victim at the right time.
8025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cyber attack could be very dangerous on: September 25, 2020, 01:32:13 PM
...
Antimalware are good but very possible malware can still get through, there are newly produced malware of different types every time, what if the antimalware company have not yet produce antimalware against certain recent malware? People need also to be updating their antimalware everytime new update is out, but that does not mean some malware maybe not get through. Safe browsing should be the first to come to mind, if you can avoid this malware, your computer will not be infected. Getting the antimalware is good but having it in mind that it is possible for the malware not to be 100% effective will be good, we have to be very careful while online.
8026  Other / Beginners & Help / Cyber attack could be very dangerous on: September 25, 2020, 10:24:31 AM
BBC News - How worried should we be about deadly cyber-attacks?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-54269045

From the above link is a video about how deadly cyber-attack can be, it has always been on the rise, more physical and dangerous to the extent even organizations like health care can be compromised. I still remember an attack recently on Argentina's border while the hackers demanding for millions of dollars. There are cases hospitals eqipments were hacked resulting to death of someone while the hackers demanding for ransom. I think there should be something to be done to curtail scammer malicious activities because many scam activities would have led to death of people.

How about on individuals, there are many people that their computers are compromized, even phones are not left out these days. Banking details, exchange account and crypto wallet details can be known to hackers and be used to steal from victims. I have a friend using an online wallet, the wallet was compromized within a single day, all he knew was his wallet balance that totaled zero. Few years ago, my brother that knows about trading got his exchange account compromized all because he unknowingly install a malware on his computer. There are a lot of cases like that.

What are the government doing, what are the organizations doing to fight cyber attacks. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not left out. I think hack is not beyond learning how to avoid it. But, I am confused, how are even government organizations and many other organizations getting hacked even from another country.

Cyber-attack has always be on the rise. How can this be solved?
8027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the future holds for bitcoin on: September 24, 2020, 10:58:01 PM
If I can save fiat at home safely without any thief coming, it will be good. If I can transfer my fiat to a family abroad without the bank or any third party, it will be good. If I have not made transactions before leading to error while using fiats, it will be good. If I can maintain privacy to an extent while using fiat, it will be good. If the fiat in my country is not declining in value, it will be good.  The bank I am using have just reduced maximum MasterCard international transafer from $500 to $100 monthly, worth an inconvenience.

In fact, centralization of money needs alternative.

With bitcoin, which is an alternative and a decentralized money, I can be my own bank, make transactions which will never fail but go through so far I send to the right address, I can easily transfer as many as possible bitcoin that I own to family and friends, I can have my privacy. People do not have option is the reason they are using fiat, bitcoin serves the real purpose of money, but ignorance makes people not to realize.

I sent bitcoin from my country to a friend abroad few days ago, all just at my home with ease of transactions. And that aside, bitcoin is still at its early stage, it will surely reach all time high again, it has brighter future. A money not imposed on anyone by governments or any centralized body to spend but decided by individual.
8028  Economy / Economics / Re: Why criminals prefer cash (Fiat) on top of crypto? on: September 24, 2020, 08:54:31 PM
Fiats are more easily accessible to people than cryptocurrencies, many people do not know what cryptocurrencies are while some only hear about it but know nothing about it. If we check the marketcap of the fiats in the world and compared it with cryptocurrencies marketcap, we will realize that cryptocurrencies are still way behind. People depends on fiat more than cryptocurrencies and many people do not even know that some cryptocurrencies are so anonymous like Moreno. Scammers like what their victims have, which are fiats

While dealing with fiats, there are transactions that can be untraceable, a good example is western union. Money sent through western union is not traceable, not only western union but also many others that works like that as well. Scammers also are wise and are perfect during their shady and malicious activities. That is why many of their fiat illegal deals can not be traced to them.

Even, I that knows about crypto, I do not still really know much, not to talk of scammers that knows less than me but good while dealing with what most people know, which is fiat. There was a scammers arrested by the United States FBI this year, there were  transactions he has been making with just a single bitcoin address into his  exchange account he his using, with this, all his transactions since 2016 to 2020 was revealed what a big mistake. So, many scammers of today like using fiats because it is what they are more perfect at.

Some do impersonate people, if they request cryptocurrencies  from their victim, the victim may not know about how to use it, and they victim may not have any cryptocurrencies. Because of this, they will later request for fiat.

So, ignorance is what that is still causing this, when crypto adption increase and more known to the world, when people deal with it like fiats, scammers will learn more about it, knowing it deep down. Thereby, using it more for scam purposes.

I am not depicting cryptocurrencies as bad Also, people should learn how to avoid scam generally.
8029  Other / Archival / Re: Vulnerability in Lightning Network on: September 24, 2020, 08:16:28 PM
This was confirmed to be true. I read about it on cointelegraph. Normally, there are still vulnerabilities in lightning network that have not been known, and some have not been solved. That is why it is very impotant to know that only small amount of bitcoin should be used to open a channel and that we should not leave much amount of bitcoin on a channel. Like electrum wallet, it even warns anyone that want to make use of lightning network on electrum wallet to use small amount of bitcoin and indicated it is still under testing. This has not been the first of the vulnerabilities and this may not be the last yet.

I will prefer the regular channel for now by using only small amount of bitcoin for lighning while wumbo channel will be only when lightning network has been successfully used for years without no vulnerabilities again.
8030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Máy ATM Bitcoin và các công ty ủng hộ nó. on: September 24, 2020, 02:10:04 PM
I wonder what is the cost of one Bitcoin withdrawal? Because cashless is currently the trend. Does the number of Bitcoin ATMs reflect the number of people using this service?
In Germany, illegal ATMs were dismantled. What about the above Bitcoin ATMs, are they completely legal?
Before you can run a bitcoin ATM bussiness successfully, there are rules to follow. You can not just set up bitcoin ATM in a country that do not legalize bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. And, if a country legalize cryptocurrencies, there are still rules to follow. You can learn more about this using the below links.

Check-list for running a bitcoin ATM
https://coinatmradar.com/blog/how-to-start-a-bitcoin-atm-business/

Revenue and Costs of operating a bitcoin ATM
https://coinatmradar.com/blog/revenue-and-costs-of-running-a-bitcoin-atm/

How to Start a Bitcoin ATM Business
https://coinatmradar.com/how-to-start-bitcoin-atm-business/

That is why it is good to check coinatmrader to know if bitcoin ATM you want to use is legit and comply to the rules of the country they are operating. If not found on coinatmradar that means the bitcoin ATM is operating illegally.
8031  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Presidential Election: Trump Will Not Commit to Peaceful Transfer of Power on: September 24, 2020, 01:56:40 PM
It seems Trump intends to claim undisputed victory if he win the election and he intends to claim foul-play and cheating if he loses. Quite likely it seems Biden will play the same game but Trump is the incumbent whereas Biden is not. Yes this will go to the Supreme Court but how many of Judges will be Republican appointees? How many will be Trump supporters? Will they remain unbiased?
If Trump loses the election, that will be a sorry case as he will say 'bye bye' to the presidential seat. USA is not practicing autogracy or semi-democracy, United States is practising democratic system of government. He may only try to manipulate, but if he loses, then his wining counterparty which will be Biden will be the next United State president. Just based on the system of US government, I am not in support of any of them with this write up.
8032  Other / Off-topic / Re: Centralized or decentralized internet? on: September 24, 2020, 01:30:00 PM
I believe the decentralized internet isn't there to wipe away scammers as that's unlikely to happen instead, it's for the protection of our information, giving us back control over the personal/sensitive details we put online instead of the big company having control over than and selling/using them for their profit. This should be the main point used for argument like this and not scammers been less in one system or the other
Yes, you are right. Even, very possible there will be an increase in the scam rate after the implementation of decentrlaized internet. 8033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitamp login seed problem on: September 24, 2020, 12:42:13 PM
I do not think the problem is from Bitamp side, I have just created bitamp wallet immediately I read about this and it worked perfectly. You can try to contact their customer care but first make sure your internet connection is good. The wallet works perfectly here with me. Your internet connection may likely be the cause.
8034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers targeting Youtube accounts to promote their projects on: September 24, 2020, 07:23:17 AM
Even the centralized organizations have failed us, that is why not only Youtube but other social media will always fail us. Scammers use these social media to scam people, maybe scam can not be eradicated. We people need to know and leave our ignorance behind to know more about how to avoid scam, nobody will help in this. I noticed this types of scams are mainly affecting greedy, impatient and people that lack knowledge and experience about scam. This is a time we should not neglect everybody around us about awareness so they will not be a scam victim.

Aside social media, scam activities has been existing everywhere, and it has always been on the rise.

There was a topic similar to this recently

Bitcoin ATMs Surge As There Are Now Over 10,000 Bitcoin ATMs Worldwide
September 21, 2020, 10:43:36 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277251.msg55237152#msg55237152

As of the time when the topic was posted here on this forum just few days ago, the number of the total bitcoin ATMs innthe world was 10,115. But, as of today, the number as surprisingly increased, I make use of coinatmradar (https://coinatmradar.com/) to check the total number which is often updated. But, I do notice most of the ATMs are in USA, it will be good if other countries can have more ATMs by tuere crypto friendliness and development.
8036  Other / Off-topic / Centralized or decentralized internet? on: September 23, 2020, 03:49:49 PM
Recently, I read about this exciting news, it is about scammers and also little of decentralized internet the world is looking forward to which will be more robust in efficiency than the present one we are using for now. You can use the link below for more details about this, but I believe the pictures below can point out the scam part.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/you-won-t-believe-the-depths-to-which-crypto-scammers-on-twitter-are-willing-to-sink
Quote
Last Friday night, crypto YouTuber Ivan on Tech messaged me on Twitter. Shortly into our conversation, he graciously offered me an investment opportunity in “Bitcoin trading/mining”, courtesy of a platform that he alleged was associated with Binance.

Although, this is a known scam, the person was only trying to study the scammer.

But, there is one part of the news that talks about the way scammere have still tried to penetrate twitter and YouTube, and we all know that not only the two but all social media in general are used by scammers effectively.

Also, I hope we all read recenly about this: 'FinCEN investigation released on Sunday showed several banks were involved in moving more than $2 trillion worth in suspicious funds'. If not, you can use the below links to read about it.

https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/european-banks-shares-fincen-leaked-docs-money-2020-9-1029605961#
BBC News - FinCEN Files: HSBC moved Ponzi scheme millions despite warning
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54225572

Normally, we all know that scams that involved fiats are far more than scams that involve bitcoin and other crypto. Did we actually know that centralization in the world has only failed us, people are scammed and yet the number of scammers have always been on the rise. I do not know why there are no governmental bodies to educate people in a way they will not be scammed rather than only looking for scammers in which their number is always on the rise.

As for me, I will like people to embrace the website 3.0, because normally people are still getting scammed with the so called centralization. What is most important is for people to learn about how to avoid scam, and we want our governments to make amendments and start educating people about scam like this forum is educating us.

What is mostly needed for effectively scam avoidance is education about how to avoid scam which governments are not making moves towards at all.

Do you agree?
8037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks Launder $2 Trillion While Claiming BTC Is For Money Laundering? on: September 23, 2020, 02:59:37 PM
All I know is that there are a lot of shady business while using fiats. For example, I checked about western union and I noticed the fiat collected using western union is not even traceable. There are amber shady things of such that I have read about fiat currencies. It is not surprising to me when I read about the malicious activities. I believe people know that most people still use fiat, which is an evidence of more scam activities. It is not about the fiat or cryptocurrencies, anywhere people are, there are good and bad people. People know how to manipulate.

While claiming crypto is used in money laundering and terrorism financing, I still remember a news I read on cointelegraph where united state SEC implied it is a misconception which is actually and totally true if compared to fiat.
8038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Less Volatile Coins on: September 23, 2020, 02:30:14 PM
If you want less volatile coin, bitcoin should be the first to come to your mind, altcoins have been the type that are more volatile. But, with the marketcap of bitcoin, it is undoubtedly the best out of the cryptocurrencies. Tether is not a high volatile coin, neither is tether a low volatile coin, tether is referred as a stable coin. I still do not get how you will invest in a stable coin like tether. I will still always prefer DAI which is more trust worthy, but stable coin can not give me the kind of profits I have gained while investing in bitcoin.

Yes. There are wallets that support Mac operating system that you can use to sign a message. But, I will recommend you to use electrum wallet. You can download it on your Mac computer. Do not use third party site to download it. Visit the official electrum wallet site for the download, you can easily download it from there and also check the signature. 8040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if you invested a $1 in Bitcoin every day for 5 years on: September 23, 2020, 08:32:20 AM
What about the transaction fees for the daily investment? The worth of the transaction fees alone over 5 years will be good even as an investment. It will be good to have a better plan like investing every month, or every 3 months, or every 6 months to a year. But as for me, I will not even still consider this to be accurate.

We all know if someone really study the price of bitcoin very well technically, he will know the right time to invest. When people even make use of trading such as swing trading to gain, all they do is to analyze the price and buy at the right time. Experts can only be very patient, make the price of bitcoin to dump and then invest. The best time to invest is when people are very afraid to invest when the market is red as bitcoin price is falling.

Although, we all have different professional strategies, but even if we are going to invest, investing at the periods when the price is decreasing but has also decrease a lot is the best time even if you will invest at certain interval of time. But, daily investment is not advisable or recommendable. To invest $1 daily will not be encouraging while paying transaction fee.
