8161  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: August 19, 2021, 08:22:29 PM
In the spirit of the “Yes Theory” YouTube channel, it might be cool to find someone from the forum and fly them somewhere out of the blue to experience something. Maybe surprise a veteran member and fly them to Bitcoin Beach and document the experience for the channel. I’m sure there are lots of Bitcoin places to see around the world and lots of forum members to take around. Traveling is also a lot cheaper than buying someone a house. Smiley
8162  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Is 2011 unredeemed 1BTC Casascius worth the hassle of selling? on: August 19, 2021, 08:19:07 PM
Remember you can always sell the peeled coin for extra funds as well. They fetch a decent price. As a newbie you might run into a little hesitance with buyers but if you use escrow and maybe even ship the coin to the escrow agent first you should be able to get it sold. It comes down to your risk tolerance and financial situation. You’ll get the most money by selling it, but you’ll have the least stress (probably) peeling it. I haven’t ever heard of a private key being destroyed in the peeling process, so that seems like a foolproof way to cash in. If you’re trying to start learning about crypto now though, owning a full BTC already puts you ahead of the pack.
8163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 19, 2021, 07:22:25 PM
It's going to be interesting seeing Golden State playing this year having everyone back and healthy.  I at least hope that Klay is back and healthy, not having him on the team is such a bummer, of course not just for the Golden State Warriors but for NBA fans.  Him and Curry are such unbelievable shooters, it's just so fun watching them do there thing night in and night out ( even if I can't stand Curry and his cockiness, he's amazing).

I am curious how it will go this year for them.  The league has had some time to adjust to the new shooter's paradise NBA and the Warriors have lost a lot of main pieces while Draymond is very much on the downhill slide of his career.  I'm sure they'll come back strong and be a lock for the playoffs, but I don't see them as a contender.  Wiseman would have to develop very quickly in order for that to happen.  I suspect we'll see some trading or free agent signing before the season starts for them, but I'd be surprised if they get further than the second round of the playoffs this coming year.  No matter what though, it'll be great to see the splash brothers back together again.
8164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you bullish or bearish this year? on: August 19, 2021, 07:18:47 PM
Until the end of the year I believe bullish. I only refer to the 4 year cycle of btc, this proves to be almost the same overall. Maybe for the end of august there will be a correction of some % of btc and from here the bulls will occur again. This is not a prediction but my personal belief.

That seems to be the common belief these days.  The only thing that scares me is that with so many people expecting this outcome, it becomes less likely to come to fruition.  I'm with you though.  The math is undeniable.  I think once the market peaks (likely in December) and begins to drop, it will be a race to the exits like never before.  We all know there will likely be an 80% drop following the next runup.  Once the market gets over $135K we're going to see volatility like never before.  A lot of people playing with leverage are going to lose everything, and a lot of holders are going to make a bundle.  Play it smart.
8165  Other / Off-topic / Re: Please check out my sweeeeeet bitcoin rap on: August 18, 2021, 08:56:55 PM
That video was posted over a year ago. Why now suddenly promote it here? Is that really your YouTube channel and did you really make that song? If so, kudos, it is nicely done and I liked that time was put into making the video and having the words show on the screen. It’s clear someone put a lot of effort into making this.
8166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: I started a porn site that pays you in Bitcoin. on: August 18, 2021, 08:37:23 AM
Seems like a good enough idea. I imagine there wouldn’t be enough revenue to really make something like this worth sitting home all day and doing, but maybe if you integrate your own ticket there is potential to create something of massive value similar to how Binance was funded with BNB. I have no doubt this sort of thing will become more common in the future as internet users smarten up to the fact they are the product in most scenarios and demand compensation.
8167  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we in 2017 again? How do you feel about the price chart today? on: August 18, 2021, 08:31:59 AM
The market seems to be performing exactly as expected for an end of year bubble just as it has in 213 & 2017. Right now we’re in that scary bear trap where there’s doubt developing in the market but I suspect that will all change in another month or two. Stay the course… The numbers won’t lie to you.
8168  Other / Meta / Re: Scam campaigns should not be allowed to stay on: August 18, 2021, 12:45:39 AM
Most cryptocurrency projects are simply just so shady that it would be so difficult to judge which ones are scams and which ones are not. The only way to prevent scams with high effectiveness is for Theymos to ask the campaigns to do extensive KYC, which I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to do simply because it goes against the cryptocurrency ethos.

Indeed.  This is why most campaigns put funds into escrow or select campaign managers that are held accountable for the promised payouts.  In the end, nothing will protect the end user like some education on why they should not trust, but verify claims made by managers before getting involved in projects.  Since this forum doesn't moderate scams, the best way to know if something is legitimate is by seeing how long it has operated without any major issues or non-transparent activity.
8169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins on: August 18, 2021, 12:37:36 AM
As for the plethora of altcoins out there, and, in particular, the few that I own, I worry about the long-term future of their viability. At the time of this writing, it seems as if the sky is the limit and these projects are not only growing, but here to stay. However, things aren't always as they seem and I'm starting to wonder if it may be more prudent to dump and invest solely in BTC which I feel provides the most benefit to society and potentially has the most durability.

I wouldn't say it's prudent to dump altcoins and invest only in BTC.  Diversification is important always in investing.  Bitcoin is the King though, and if you are holding over the long term I can't think of a better coin to put your money in.  That being said, a little exposure to coins like ETH & BNB that can provide revenue through staking isn't a bad idea.  Coins that offer exposure to liquidity pools like CAKE & UNI are another great way to provide some revenue for your portfolio.  Additionally, you can use platforms like CoinEx to provide your own liquidity pair of coins you choose to deposit.

I guess my point is that crypto is full of cool stuff if you look around for it.  Holding is great, but remember to keep some coins to actually use as well.  If you're buying altcoins and not using them, that's when I'd be worried about their value going to zero.
8170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 17, 2021, 07:50:35 PM
Tuesday October 19th! The start of the new season. Buck, Warriors, Nets, & Lakers all set to kick off the season with a bang on day 1. I know I can’t wait to see Carmelo and LeBron play together as well as seeing Steph and Klay together again. It will be a big day for sure. I can’t wait. Bitcoin should be creating some of it’s own excitement by then also on the way to $100K+.
8171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting on the Paralympic Games? Ethical or not? on: August 17, 2021, 07:14:32 PM
I think it would be unethical to not bet on the games just because the participants are paralympic athletes.  I'm sure they probably would appreciate the support of having people hoping they win and cheering for them.  As long as you aren't doing it in jest or with the sole purpose of spreading negative energy then I don't see any problem with it.  I think there are probably people who see it as an opportunity and research the events/competitors in order to try and use any advantage they can to win a bet.
8172  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Afghanistan was a battleground for the United States to show its power to China on: August 17, 2021, 06:48:15 AM
I was disappointed to hear that the Chinese run media is already making reference to the United States not being able to protect Taiwan and basically saying America is a lot of talk but able to stand up and protect those who choose to form alliances with us. It’s sad to think one weak leader can make an entire country seem like such cowards on the world stage.
8173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who's been buying recently? on: August 17, 2021, 06:43:16 AM
Looking at the data it is very clear that the longtime holders of Bitcoin are accumulating again, while addresses with small balances are selling and being liquidated. This is a great sign since it’s typically the whales that move the market. When they start losing up to make big profits, you might find it wise to follow.
8174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WALMART is hiring a cryptocurrency product lead ! on: August 17, 2021, 06:41:21 AM
You didn’t think they’d sit back and let Amazon and Apple run away with the crypto payments space did you? Im sure we’ll see Q3 bring all 3 companies holding BTC on their balance sheets and a Q4 acceptance of Bitcoin to some degree to power their investment into the stratosphere. So much money flooding into crypto in the next couple months…
8175  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Forum Software on: August 17, 2021, 06:38:44 AM
You want a new forum?

Actually... we may just want a different look for this forum.
As said, it'll be difficult to beat Bitcointalk. It has history, it has great info stored in it and it has great and helpful members. What does your forum have? And if you'll tell me that you have nothing, but it's better packed that's not enough.

Sorry if I'm too harsh, but I've took a quick look there and:
1. The topics are about... anything. And it's not really structured.
2. It looks more like blog posts with comments than a forum. And the name also suggest this.

You seem to advertise a general purpose blogging platform as crypto forum... here. Ummm... no. That won't work.

in the end, is a new forum really needed?
next to Bitcointalk (which is very hard to reach), there are several others Altcoinstalk, cryptotalk who have been building a position for years and they spent a lot of money in them.
I wonder what the new forum can offer, and why users would move there? a forum without users and without quality discussions is a complete failure. I think that so many forums arise only from the lack of quality ideas.

There is a ton of development being done in the crypto space and nearby none of it stems from this forum. As the community continues to grow well beyond bitcointalk, it isn’t bad to have more options. I for one would love a more friendly community where negativity and trolling is not considered a good thing. This “toxic maximalism” nonsense has hindered Bitcoin long enough.
8176  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Farm on fire on: August 17, 2021, 06:36:01 AM
As others have stated, I hope you are able to quickly recover from this and your operation ends up stronger because of it. Thanks for sharing the pictures and your cautionary tale. It’s nice to hear about all the crypto miners getting rich, but you see less of the hardship stories and I think we’ve all got our horror stories. Good luck!
8177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 17, 2021, 02:42:45 AM
Steph Curry really changed the shooting in NBA. Even those big man follows him.

But you know guys, Steph just improves his own since he can't do something inside. He thinks of a way how can help a team and that is by improving his three-point skills. And the result is great so he will continue doing that.

I don’t think you can give all the credit to Steph. It’s just that kids like him grew up with basketball in a way generations before him didn’t. It’s not uncommon nowadays for parents to start training their kids seriously for sports from before they can walk. Education on training as well as materials have come a long way and I think that’s what we’re witnessing.
8178  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Afghanistan fall into a prolonged state of war again? on: August 16, 2021, 05:47:28 PM
The images from the airport at Kabul is quite disturbing, people were literally falling off a plane that just took off. Is it that bad or are people trying to take advantage of the situation and move to the Western world? I hope order is restored sooner than later

Ya, that video is insane. Did those people think they’d be able to hold onto the side of a plane and fly to America? They were willing to die trying something so insane as opposed to living their lives. This shows just how much we got their citizens to rely on us, only to have a president leave them alone and in danger. 20 years wasted in 4 days. This is what weak leadership leads to.
8179  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: August 16, 2021, 05:40:58 PM
You guys need to get Roo Team Six to do something for promo. Would be hilarious to see them on your website or doing some sort of promo here. Love the YouTube videos. Best promotional usage I’ve seen in Bitcoin so far!
8180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 16, 2021, 07:15:19 AM
He has the talent to play in the NBA without a doubt. He just has some mental issues that can really cost his team at times. Basketball really is a sport you need to be aware of what’s going on at all times and similar to JR Smith (who is going back to college to play golf) Lance has at times shown to not fully have that awareness.
wow, wait a minute, can Stephenson come back to the NBA or did I get it wrong???
In my opinion he is a good player, I remember, Stephenson, Turner, PG, Young, that Indiana team was a good team and competitive!!

They also have Hibbert and West back then. I remember that team.

They go to the playoffs but Miami's big 3 still hot during that time, if Indiana kept all those stars after that season
For sure, they still got that competitive squad after that loss from The Heat! They are all young and full of talented individuals that,
just need to jive and work together for the same goal of winning a title.

I remember Hibbert taking a hard elbow from LeBron James in one of those heated games between Indiana and Miami. He was never the same after that and I credit that single play with the destruction of that great Pacers team. Them along with the Toronto Raptors were a couple of teams that were tormented by King James for years.
