From Ciara:

"Regarding packaging we have a vast experience with shipping complex solutions globally. We have multiple ways in which to determine how best to protect your products. When customers purchase multiple solutions the preferred method is to palletize the shipment for added durability furring shipment. We also utilize multiple sources for our box and foam solutions. Rest assure that we will work directly with your hardware and team to determine how best to ensure your product ships and arrives in top condition. We will begin designing your shipping solution once the first prototype arrives."

In sum, HF will use a custom designed shipping solution, designed by the same people that design packaging solutions to ship to Akami, the worlds biggest banks, and top high frequency hedge funds, on a daily basis.

Hot dam I bet those are going to be some top of the line packing peanuts man!

I heard that this is the power supply they are going to be using can you confirm or deny?

http://www.seasonic.com/pdf/datasheet/NEW/Bulk/PC/ATX/SS-XXXES%20Active%20PFC.pdf

why you so cheap?

does a company who's willing to give you 5x the hashing power after 3mo if you don't ROI for free look like they'll cheap out on you?

The Baby Jet is using the Seasonic X-1000 - that PSU is 91.0% efficient with 1 module. See the glowing review here:

so they mislead us (lied) about the MPP to get us to invest in them

the MPP was always just raw chips.

no biggie as far as i'm concerned.  they aren't into selling the modules for a huge profit.

I'm close to Montreal...  if HashFast wants me to, I can go visit and get pictures etc sometime during the prototyping/manufacturing process as a trusted forum member.

They've had a picture of the place on their blog since August they probably just hadn't negotiated the final details of their relationship yet.

yeah, that's Ciara.

that's Bitcoinorama off in the background awaiting to assemble your packaging, marker in hand.

8166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: October 12, 2013, 12:38:39 AM
it'll come preinstalled with cgminer which ckolivas has already seen and will be working on.

I think this gets overlooked a lot.  Having an experienced mining software developer woking on product software before launch has not been usual way around here.  It's a very nice change and I'm looking forward to the results. +1 to hashfast for being proactive on this.

Agreed.
Thanks for your approval. Remember I just write the software though and have no control over the how when and what of the hardware performance, delivery, price, schedule etc. etc. My sum input into the hardware is only to do with the communication protocol and some input into how the microcontroller works. For my part, I have been pleased with what I've been involved in. That should not be taken as any kind of comment positive or negative about the hardware.

con, i'm thinking of installing the integrated cgminer/controller drivers directly onto my solo mining server which runs Stratum.  how well would that work?
The final driver will be just part of a regular cgminer release so you can do whatever you want with it, so running it from any sort of PC or embedded device that can run cgminer would be fine. To run the stratum server as well as the mining software it'd probably need to be a real PC though, as the RPi isn't really up to that.

then i'm good.  i'm running Ubuntu on a full pc.

sounds like i'll be able to get rid of the controller device.

also, Ciara has a long history of shipping high end servers for clients like Akami, banks, high frequency trading funds, etc.
8169  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: October 11, 2013, 11:48:39 PM
since PSU's seem to be the topic for the day, guess what HF is shipping as stock!?

Seasonics!
8170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 11, 2013, 11:37:37 PM
Seasonic manufactures the higher quality PSUs for Corsair and MANY other vendors.  The HX series is one of them. Seasonic is considered the premier maker of PSUs by many PC enthusiasts. So it's very surprising that their PSUs are possibly causing such a horrible problem.

nice.

HashFast will be supplying Seasonic PSU's as stock in the BJ's and Sierra's. Cheesy

And here is a tip for everyone.  You know those two pins you jump to make the PSU work?  Do you know what those are used for?

When you press the OFF switch your motherboard opens those two pins, telling the PSU to power everything down safely.  That is the only correct way to shut a system down - pull the jumper, then power off the PSU.

If you just flip the PSU switch off, you leave a "whole lot of amerage" suddenly looking for the quickest way to get home.  And electrons aren't fussy, if they can find a shorter path across a component instead of thru it, they'll use that.  If there are unseen micro droplets of solder on the solder mask that present a shorter path, they'll use that path, carbonizing the solder mask and making it an even BETTER shortcut - resulting in nasty smelling smoke and burned solder mask...

Just flipping the PSU switch to off might not break anything the first time or even 100th time you do it, but eventually you'll pay the price, and the magic smoke gets out.  There's a very valid reason why you don't just turn off your computer by yanking the plug out of the wall socket - and flipping the PSU switch is the equivalent of doing that.  Do that to your desktop computer a few times and see how well it runs as a result...

None of this "its the HX850's fault". That model might just be particularly susceptible to this problem... But I have used over 30 HX850s for mining-related functions without a single issue till KnC.

here's another tip.

please be careful when you touch that jumper clip.  make sure everything is powered off.  in fact, the exposed part of it should be wrapped completely in electrical tape.

the electrical shock these things can put out is enough to kill you so be careful.

Cypherdoc - FUDcaster General, coming to an unrelated thread near you very soon.

Actually if you look carefully, I never came into this thread to criticize or spread fud prior to now. That really doesn't make sense if I was trying to disrupt their business. In fact I was one of the first to congratulate them a couple of weeks ago after the demo video.

Buy yeah, you know what? I am a big protector of bitcoin in general and when I see any company screw up the economy after having collected so much money and behaved so arrogantly Imo,  I'll let them have it.

Did you let BFL, "have it" then?

Good point. No.

But the KNC warrior bunch was a one of a kind virulent bunch of trolls that tried to destroy Hashfast and my reputation based on nothing except to try and protect their investment.

They also kept this thread pushed up to the top for visibility.

Now things have gone terribly wrong.

Oh,  so I'm the first one around here to be doing that? These are rough parts around here in case you hadn't noticed. I sure did back when I endorsed HF.

Seems people can dish it out but can't take it back.

Cant speak for others, but Im mainly curious how you will react when HF runs in to similar problems and delays. Their schedule is every bit as unbelievable as KnC's was. HF chips havent even made it through the fab yet and already they are running a week behind schedule making their october promise all but impossible.  The most tangible thing we've seen from HF so far is renderings and a FPGA simulation, not even running on their own PCB. Ie, about what we've seen from Cointerra which isnt due for another 2-3 months.

Time will tell if you turn out to be a hypocrite or not.

I've already said I'll eat my words if the f*ck up is a bad as this. I don't think being late is the issue here. It's mostly product design.

But I really don't think it will be this bad. We'll see though.
8180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 11, 2013, 08:47:36 AM
Yeah where is that idiot Bitcoinorama when you need him?

Imo, this is a multi - pronged problem. Not only was the packaging inadequate but more importantly we have a design problem. going from 8 to 4 VRM was a mistake.  Double the phases means half the current, means smoother power, means more stability for over clocking, means less heat, means less blowing up.  I doubt it's just firmware.

@Cypherdoc

Why are you, a HashFast representative, in a competitors thread piling on?   I'm not saying there isn't criticism due, but this kind of stuff really makes HashFast look bad.  You might want to think about that some...

And furthermore, I remember you to be one of the more disrespectful ones criticizing.

And now I know why Mr.$50K order.
