8181  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's the cheapest way to transfer money from Coinbase.Pro to Binance? on: August 26, 2020, 02:36:28 PM
Although I have not used coinbase pro before, but this is how it works on the exchanges I am using.

The transaction fee will be the same, the amount of fee you will need to transfer $5 worth of bitcoin will be also required to transfer $500 worth of bitcoin. There will be no differences.

But, if you need a cheap fee for the transfer, if coinbase pro support ripple, try to convert the bitcoin to ripple, do your transfer with lower amount of fee. After, then you can convert the ripple back to bitcoin on binance

Sending such high amount of bitcoin directly is better as BrewMaster commneted below. Using a transaction of of $0.31 dollars is still good enough.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5267680.msg54966450#msg54966450

It depends on which mixer you are using.

Many mixers do simply move your coins around a few addresses, combine them and split them from some other deposits, and then send you coins back again. There was some interesting research posted on this forum which Lucius has linked to above which showed that such mixing methods could be broken and outputs linked to inputs without too much trouble.

ChipMixer uses a different method of pre-funding addresses with set amounts of bitcoin, and then handing over the private key to those addresses after you have made a deposit, which you can then import in to your own wallet. From a blockchain analysis point of view, these mixed coins were generated before you even made a deposit, and you can also merge or split them to obfuscate the amounts involved, leading to much greater privacy.

I hope this is helpful. Mixers are different from how exchanges work. Exchanges can even freeze you funds and most give you no privacy. Like Hitbtc exchange, you can trade with certain amount of funds with no kyc but some accounts can be freezed.
8184  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Someone who believed virus not real had wife dead to Covid-19 on: August 26, 2020, 09:31:21 AM
If he was collecting medicine for her, then that probably killed her, or the disease that required the medicine. It wouldn't be the virus, although many people try to blame all deaths on the virus
The husband was a taxi driver or something, there were evidences that the man contracted the disease first, and later spread it to his wife. The man was healthy before the disease, and was later healed. But the wife had pneumonia, as well know such disease (pneumonia) likely can make covid-19 to have its way until the victim is dead. The man even wishing for forgiveness from his dead wife.
8185  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Breaking down the anatomy of a fake giveaway scam on: August 26, 2020, 08:50:17 AM
Trust scam trading - is a technique used by scammers to impersonate, well-known personalities, because of their influence and wealth in this case Elon Musk. And we are now familiar with those fake giveaways, like - "We are doing a giveaways, send us .1 BTC and we will send you back .5 BTC." And we all know that Elon Musk fake btc giveaway is the most common. And even a experience crypto investors could really fall for it.
Yes, if the experienced investor is greedy, he will be scammed. But, also if truly the person is experienced, he ought not to fall for it as we know how free giveaways like doublers and the likes are fake. But, newbies are the ones that are mostly scammed this way, I supposed to have fallen for this scam when I first know about bitcoin, but thank God, I did not have money to even pay into the scammer's bitcoin address. So, newbies are falling victim to the scams that serve as lesson for us.

Also, we need to know that even any legit site can contain ads to these fake giveaways, that is why we should be careful of ads. Lastly, the more we are getting richer, there more we should be very careful.
8186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be possible to develop crypto address validation technology? on: August 26, 2020, 04:49:04 AM
there are exceptions like tether that don't have a network of their own and rely on bitcoin network. when you send tether you are actually sending them on bitcoin blockchain and to a bitcoin address so it makes sense that the address is the same.
It makes good sense if you control the private key, normally this is not an issue while using wallet because people can decide to use noncustodial wallets but I still see it to be an issue while using exchanges that your private key is managed by the exchange. Also, many people are novice and make the mistake in a way they may not get the tether back by sending to an address they do not have its private keys.

I think something can be done, in a way to invalidate tether omini addresses while mistaken for bitcoin addresses. All I think will be needed is a little more of programming and testing.

If we remember the litecoin nested segwit addresses that started with 3, people also mistaken it with bitcoin 3-prefix addtesses, and have resulted to many bitcoin been trapped and lost, but litecoin developers was able to create the M-ptefix version of the address with the same private key as the 3-prefix litecoin addresses. That aside, also the address is not valid while mistaken for bitcoin address (although, I read this, not yet in my practical).

I am not certain, but I think there is something developers can do to make this work. Although, I used litecoin as an example, but not a perfect example though as it has it own separate blockchain, but when not yet implemented, it can make people think such may not be possible.

they say its fake and the government is stepping in too much
they get sick
they say its real and the government didnt do enough to stop it at the beginning
You are very right, humans are so complicated. They always blame the government while the government are trying their best to eliminate the disease. Itis good to be wise in life as humans are not perfect. I maintain social distance, have my hand sanitizers and do all other precautions in order to stay healthy. All these take nothing from me, while ain't all people not thinking this way.
8188  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Despite printing stablecoins daily, why is bitcoin yet to cross above 20k on: August 25, 2020, 07:56:41 AM
is this some sort of manipulation with the little supply?
Bitcoin is beyond any manipulation with its marketcap, but whales can try but the direct effect is not really getting significant. You do not have to bother about bitcoin price reaching all time high, the time is coming. It took bitcoin a long time at a price above $7000 to increase tona price above $11000. What I know is that bitcoin price will increase and still reach all time high as the rate of adoption will increase. And this has nothing to do with the supply.
8189  Other / Politics & Society / Someone who believed virus not real had wife dead to Covid-19 on: August 25, 2020, 07:28:09 AM
Brian Lee Hitchens and his wife, Erin, had read claims online that the virus was fabricated, linked to 5G or similar to the flu. The couple didn't follow health guidance or seek help when they fell ill in early May. Brian recovered but his 46-year-old wife became critically ill and died this month from heart problems linked to the virus. Her husband explained that the couple did not follow health guidance at the start of the pandemic because of the false claims they had seen online. Brian continued to work as a taxi driver and to collect his wife's medicine without observing social distancing rules or wearing a mask.  They had also failed to seek help as soon as possible when they fell ill in May and were both subsequently diagnosed with Covid-19. Brian told BBC News that he "wished [he'd] listened from the beginning" and hoped his wife would forgive him.  This is a real virus that affects people differently. I can't change the past. I can only live in today and make better choices for the future," Brian explained.

Also I noticed people like to undermine covid-19 until they fall victim or they know someone that fall victim. Please, prevention is better than cure, let us all, all the time be using facemask and hand sanitizers. And at home, soap is better. We should also try as possible to maintain social distance.

Privacy and Trust: All or Nothing
An interesting feature of this transparent setting, discussed by Satoshi and by many other early Bitcoin contributors and researchers, is the all-or-nothing nature of its privacy guarantees. A trusted third party can, indeed, promise to keep your sensitive information safe from potential kidnappers, robbers or stalkers, while still being forced to provide any detail to more powerful political entities (nation-states with their tax agencies, financial authorities, secret services, etc.).
I still always will not even trust services or thridparty proving to encrypt my data and save it, their database can still be hacked, and there are possibilities that the encrypted data can be decrypted. What even tells us some thridparty encrypted any data as there are many that do not encrypt anything. Some people would have received many phishing attack just because of data breaches somewhere.

Also, the governments are made up of people, people are the thieves, I do not see any differences. The best is to truly maintain high level of privacy. That is why I only trust my noncustodial wallet, noncustodial exchange and myself alone.
8192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Probably a stupid question. on: August 24, 2020, 09:58:15 PM
Do I only have to buy from exchanges?
To avoid doubt, you can buy bitcoin using bitcoin atm. But there are still only few bitcoin atm existing in the world. And for convenience, you can use mycelium to purchase bitcoin locally. There are exchanges like hodlhodl and bsiq, they are p2p exchanges with no kyc required, you can purchase bitcoin from such exchanges. But be careful, of scammers. But not compulsory to buy from exchanges, you can by from someone you know. You also need to be careful to avoid scam and harm.

Hello, I want to buy bitcoin, how can I be sure that they were not used for any shady business?  If I buy directly from a person, what is the chance that I will have problems later?
Please, forgive my ignorance.
If the bitcoin transaction is already confirmed, you have no problem. But be careful. Check the link below.

6. Meet in Person
There are some ways bitcoin can be bought or sold locally, the counterparty can request to meet you personally before making any trade. This can be very dangerous as the counterparty can rob the buyer or seller. Also, another issue is exchaning fake fiat for bitcoin. Certain precautions must be followed in a way no one will scam another. Using p2p exchanges to escrow the funds will be a good option, and also all possible things you can think to make the exchange successful is good, like having a bodyguard around.
8193  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ELECTRUM WALLET btc 0.001525 transaction reduced balance from 0.011 to 0.009475 on: August 24, 2020, 09:03:49 PM
...
The OP did not asked the question very well but thanks to your solution. I am still confused, I saw three addresses in the transaction, and it amounts to 0.0011btc.

There were three addresses when I tracked the transaction, one is the recipient address OP sent btc to. Are the remaining two recipient addresses belong to the 2fa keys that signed the transaction on electrum?
8194  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ELECTRUM WALLET btc 0.001525 transaction reduced balance from 0.011 to 0.009475 on: August 24, 2020, 08:25:26 PM

This is the transaction info I got. I read it maybe due to me having 2fa enabled, is that true?
Check what I replied above, it is easy to read even for a person that has little knowledge about bitcoin and wallet. It is not because you have 2fa enabled, only very small fee is charged for using the 2fa on electrum wallet. All you need to do is to consolidate your input. And you will need to always consolidate when your input are getting higher.

What the transaction id for, have you made the transaction? I will look into that.
8195  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ELECTRUM WALLET btc 0.001525 transaction reduced balance from 0.011 to 0.009475 on: August 24, 2020, 08:18:12 PM
Sorry should've been more specific. Transaction was for 0.00034 btc or $4. Idk why I got charged a 16$ fee is all
You question is not so clear, but I think you meant the transaction fee is too much. It is because you have too many input. For example, if you receive a total of 0.1 btc from only just 4 people, the input is less compared to when you receive the total same amount of bitcoin from 200 people, which means the input is much more. The more the input the higher the transaction fee.

All you have to do is to consolidate, you will need a wallet that you can edit your fee,  create new address on your bitcoin wallet, send all the total amount of bitcoin to your new wallet with a very low fee, the transaction would take long. But, with that, you will be able to send with lower transaction fee compared to before.

If you use the desktop version of electrum wallet, you will be able to edit the fee for the consolidation.
8196  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitamp Bitcoin Web Wallet - Send & Receive Bitcoin Instantly! on: August 24, 2020, 07:53:09 PM
Where else do you think a person who may not have access to credit cards or banking services could get Bitcoin?
Someone can have a wallet such as bitamp wallet, he does not need bank account or any verification for such, or he can download any other noncustodial wallet. The person can buy bitcoin on bitcoin atm, all he needs for the small amount of bitcoin he will purchase is phone number, this is used for verification. But for larger amount in thousands of dollars, he may need ID verification.

Another way around is to register on p2p exchanges like hodlhodl, bsiq etc. So far he want to buy, he can meet local sellers online and dialogue with them. The sellers will put the bitcoin on escrow and request for the money. The person can collect their bank details to go and pay the money in bank or use any other payment means like PayPal. The person has no bank but get bitcoin through p2p exchange by oqying the seller, the seller will release the bitcoin from escrow into the person's wallet. But, someone need to be careful of scammers.

Bitcoin atms are the best if the person has not bank, but if he knows about p2p exchnages too, he does not need a bank to buy bitcoin, but he may need a bank to sell in certain cases.
8197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What you can learn from this YouTuber mistake - related to crypto scam on: August 24, 2020, 01:59:36 PM
As dangerous as malware could be, they can still be avoided. We need to be careful, a single malware installation can lead to multiple malware installation. Even, there are trojans that can reveal 2fa, there are rootkits that can monitor monitors someone's activities on computers and reveal all to hackers which can be used for stealing information from the computer, there are bots that can be transformed into botnets which can be used in DDoS attack. Malware can work together to make hackers to completely accomplish their mission.

Thousands of people are losing their wallets yearly all because they did not make there device safe from malware installation. These are other few tips I can recommend in order to avoid malware attack

1. Say no to kyc, hackers have ways to easily identify people after data breaches.
2. Avoiding phishing email attack by not clicking on links on any email message that you do not authorize for.
3. Using pay Vpn.
4. Using paid antimalware, but still knowing prevention is better than cure.
5. Safe browsing and be careful always to always stay safe
6. Not visiting http sites, only https sites are secured, but that does not still mean the site does not contain malware links, only the connection to the site is secure, not the site itself.
7. Avoiding airdrops
8. Avoiding cloud mining sites.
9. Avoiding to click on ads, be it google ads or not google ads.
10. Always having your 2fa app on another device, not on your wallet device.
11. Downloading apps from the official source

There are still many other things to talk about, these are only few, malware can be avoided because it is the sites we are visiting or the app we are downloading that are leading to malware installation, never trust any site you do not know about.

8199  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is African continent a cursed land? on: August 24, 2020, 07:39:51 AM
Africa is the richest continent in the earth
You are very right, we have fertile land, mineral resources, and many more. The mineral resource shown in the below picture, are just the ones most exessive in each African country, but each country still have many more minerals embedded in their lands.

https://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/interactive/2016/10/mapping-africa-natural-resources-161020075811145.html

Europeans and Americans conquered many places in the African Land and tried to exploit a lot out of them. This is the reason why Africa is poor.
England and France colonized most of all African countries. About them exploiting our land, you are right, but if you link it to the reason we are poor, you are then wrong. Why is South Africa the most developed African nation. After long time of colonial reign. We Africans need to wake up from our slumber, if not, the future can be worse.
8200  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is African continent a cursed land? on: August 24, 2020, 07:06:53 AM
Take for example, Nigeria as a country in Africa, citizens are not able to speak their mind, their legislative arm of government had made it mandatory to pay a fine of 5 million naira ($11,100) for hate speeches from citizens that are saying their mind. All they know is to always borrow money from world bank, China and many other world organizations, the leaders are not leading but ruling. They are saying they are fighting corruption, but they are the most corrupted leaders in the world, all they know is their pocket to be filled with money, and also about their children to be abroad, claiming the citizens of abroad but ruling the country. Even, after such greed and nepotism, they still do not also have the idea to make a country good. What they have done have made the countries miserable for people. Now, many citizens of African country want to travel out and never come back, some because of lack of knowledge are forced to human trafficking, while some are dying in the Mediterranean sea why traveling to Europe for better life. Their leaders are even not having the brain to be a leader.

The world is now moving towards technology, but Africans lack technology, how can Africa be good, the quality of living is poor, and nothing they are making that will make the continent progress. With what we are seeing, there will be a time the continent will be more unbearable for citizens.

I always thought of what the OP wrote, that Africa with no natural disaster. Although, there are natural disaster in Africa but very few. I have not heard of tsunami, hurricane, earthquake and many others from Africa before, only few that happens all over the world is what they experience, like farmine and flood. But, with experience, this are just low risk disasters. Certain parts of Israel are desserts but why did such place turned to a fertile land today with technology, we are in the age of technology, I can not expect a country that has water to say they are experiencing farmine. But, not surprising this is happening in Africa.

I have ones thought if we blacks are not even primitive to white, we are underdevelop, and we are called third world country, After third world countries, will be the world of animals, don't we get this, this is shame unto us. I will always expect Africans to be like whites or be better but I do not think this is possible as there is no love in Africa. The leaders will always think of their pocket, families and other relatives.
