821  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S7 Prices? on: May 20, 2016, 02:56:33 AM
Prices of S7 have decreased as difficulty of mining increases.

Basically, the higher the difficulty the less coin the S7 generates. Since the S7 design has relatively not changed since it's creation, the price had to be adjusted based upon what it's capable of generating in a given time frame.

Not really true on has not changed since creation.  Until batch 8 it changed contently look at the chart on the bitmain site.  But was not until batch 8 they went to less chips and more frequency, and stuck with it.

S7 has a lot of different  changes, just they "look the same" from outside for lack of better wording.   And of course as we get closer to having it will continue to decrease more and more on price.

To clarify, I meant in the "spirit" of unchanged, kinda like the PS3 -- even though there are many different versions of the device, it's still a "PS3" even though their internals have greatly varied over the years of its versions.... in the end it's still a PS3

Just like the S7, their hash rates are pretty close to the same but I agree their internals have been quite different depending on the version.

S7 in no way is like a PS3.  It was a decent change when they moved to batch 8 and on.  I'm not saying that it was a bad thing, but there are differences.   So I do hear your argument they are all S7's but they are different.  Trying to use a PS3 as a comparison... is kinda hard and does not fit well.

Granted it's not like a S5 vs S7 difference.  But there is a decent bump in frequency on batch 8 on, and less chips.

Who asked you ?

~LOL~

I just found it funny as not many posted anything like that:

Good luck with your next project Guy. All the best.

Don't get me wrong I find it sad.  I liked my SP20's so I'm not being mean.  But his current project will be dealing with creditors and going out.   I just think he has a lot of clean up with SP before another project is even in picture.
823  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Arduino Miner? on: May 19, 2016, 11:03:06 PM
is there any update on this ?

Arduino's were just not made for running mining software.  You can program them... but the project is not something like running a full linux OS.   You just will find it's made for other things.

What you need is a RPI for 30 dollars or so.  And it works fine as it was made as a mini computer.
824  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 Keeps going idle :\ on: May 19, 2016, 10:57:57 PM
Just an update..

Its been over 24 hours running at 500mhz and it still seems stable. Not mining quite as fast, but better then the thing going down all the time.

Im actually using a 5k WATT 220v step up converter which is plugged into a 120v. I know its not ideal, but its what I had to work with.

If you are able to you might try it at some place that actually has the 205 volts I believe PSU say's it needs.   A step up from 120v... might work and might get it started.  But it was in no way what that PSU was made for.

So PSU might be fine, it just was not meant for your setup.  You might look at like EVGA 1600 or something that was made for 120v.

Are you trolling?   I don't think there is a next project after this.   I would guess next project is paying creditors the max they can until it goes under completely.  I would be very surprised if he manages  something after this.
827  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 Keeps going idle :\ on: May 19, 2016, 03:28:12 AM
Just to cover another base, check and make sure none of your heatsinks shook loose.. i notice in your pictures that one chain runs hotter than the others.

You said it stays around 62 to 68ish but after running for 2 minutes the last chain is already at 73. Not ruling out the psu but it could be worth looking at..

Yeah now that you bring that up, I am noticing  on that first picture I sent that last chain is in the 70's while the others were at 32 when the miner was "idle".

Which begs the question.. what is the PSU?

Its the bitmain PSU so would be a APW3-12-1600 of some sort.

That is correct. I am using the BITMAIN PSU and it has been working just fine the last 30 days since I got it.
I have another one set up right next to it, no problems with that one.

OP do you have a second psu you can switch it out with? Gussing probley not.   What is voltage of electricity going into it? Just checking on it.
828  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S7 One Fan (S7-F1) - Notlist3d on: May 19, 2016, 02:27:10 AM
Thanks for this review and including how you purchased it

Your welcome I enjoy doing them.  It was new for me on the purchasing from Bitmain Warranty and I have nothing but good things to say.  The shipping out of US and fast shipping is great.  And I really liked that you get a number to call for warranty vs standard.

I am still running so far up to 5 day's and no issues.  I plan to upload pictures again after a week or so on status.
829  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is it normal for a DPS-1200FB to be VERY loud? on: May 19, 2016, 02:16:57 AM
So I just bought a surplus DPS-1200FB and I noticed the fan is VERY loud, is this normal, or does it need a fan replacement? I posted here bc it's bitcoin mining related and I know a decent amount of people here have them. Thanks!

Most of the server PSU's are pretty loud.   They have become popular due to you can get a better price going server vs atx at this point. With surplus think of data centers that did not really care about sound.

So good psu yes (depending on condition).  But something for those home mining... no in a lot of cases.
830  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 Keeps going idle :\ on: May 18, 2016, 07:31:42 PM
Hi,

Im trying to figure out why my S7 miner is going into this idle state every 24 hours. I'm pretty sure its not overheating as the temp stays around 62-68. It was running just fine a month ago. Anyone run into this problem before?

Thanks!

So are you saying it works for 24 hours? Then goes to what screenshot is?

Just curious what PSU are you using with your setup?  Did miner run normal or has done this since you plugged it in?
831  Other / Meta / Re: I'm Gianluca95 and my account is banned for spam. on: May 18, 2016, 04:26:50 PM
Also I think it's okay to use this thread to communicate to the campaign participants regarding your situation. It's in meta and this thread so I don't think that is ban evading?? You can even ask one here to notify the owners of your campaigns about your account being banned.

Actually, no.
You are only allowed to appeal your ban in meta, nothing more.
Ah I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I was banned before and a couple of topics were opened when I appealed for the ban situation I am in. I was banned because I reset the password via the secret word so ban fom spam has a different rules, yes?

If you try resetting your password through secret question, your account gets locked (and not banned).
The concept of ban evasion doesn't apply in that case.

These are two completely different bans though.   jacee is talking about the lock from security question, it is not so much a ban as a lock for using security question.  OP is in a actual ban, which means only can appeal in Meta in OP's case.

So it's kinda apples and oranges.   A security lock from question and a ban for spam are in no way the same things, or same situations.

Same here mine reset like normal but no payment.  Would appreciate payment sent if possible.
833  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S9? LOL on: May 18, 2016, 04:09:34 PM
If people knew the truth, the AMD video cards will go up in value or will be sold out, just like it did before. However, I'm counting on these people brushing off the truth and staying ignorant.

Bitmain S9 will suck, just like S7 sucked, just like S5 sucked, But they will be Best Sellers. Life goes on, bitcoin stays at around $450, and we will be screwed.

I don't see the video card's going up like they did with litecoin long ago.  I just don't think the amount of cards being bought is near the same.  When that happened there were some models that were out of stock for long periods of time.  Look at newegg or other respectable site, and we don't see the running out of cards we once did.

So I could be wrong, but I just don't see the selling out.  Without that... I don't think price will skyrocket on cards like it once did long ago.

I do not know what they are thinking. Built in psu = $$$.

So it will be 350 plus shipping. Maybe 400 total.

And we will need to pull the psu out in a month once it fails s-2 anyone.

Maybe I will get one for the array and do review .

Frankly I may buy another gpu and Eth mine with it.

That psu must be left over from the s-2.

I just want to know where info is from and how solid it is.   They hit gear quick on here to try to get an ad.   They got avalon 6 on here really quick with prototype pics.  But.... they also reported on the Avalon 4 Mini - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1152545.msg12135872#msg12135872 which never moved to far past prototype's.

So I just want to know where info is from so we know how solid it is.

Did you see the post of the news source ?

I did now that you posted it.  Thank you for posting it is a good source with pictures and info.   In future you might include links to sources with posts.

Without source it is hard to tell much as you did get the first They got avalon 6 on here really quick with prototype pics which was very real. But the Avalon 4 Mini you posted and have on your site really never made it past prototypes.

837  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: May 17, 2016, 04:02:58 AM
buy altcoin or bitcoin and hold for the long term, I'm sure bitcoin will increase
you can get a lot of money from it or if do you have a good skill you can offer your a skill.

So many altcoins are pump/dump and crap.  Saying buy altcoin ... is easy but a lot lose money to trading.  The coin gaining support is ETH... but it's still kinda early.  Time will tell if we see huge increases.

So altcoin is far from sure bet.   Bitcoin should increase but it is not a "sure" either think of the people who bought in at 900-1000 it was in the past.  They thought it would go up and they could have lost half of investment.   So some do loose money, never risk more they you can loose.
But it sure does feel good when you bank on a hunch and buy that alt that doubles in price in two weeks.
It can lose that value in less than that but if you are good enough at following the flow of things for that coin you can jump to the next one and be ahead of the alt coin game.

I don't make my investments on feels good though.  Yea it's awesome to see one that has huge gains, but there have just been a lot of crap coins.   Just they pump/dump and those holding past a certain point lose... and that does not feel so good.

What coin are you having a "hunch" that people can double money in two weeks? And feel sure on it I just don't see that happening to often.
838  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Antminer S9 sold on miningsweden is a fraud on: May 17, 2016, 03:56:09 AM
Its not a fraud, that woman at Bitmain probably wasn't informed about MiningSweden and then the OP freaked out.

Its scammy though on MinningSweden side "We have now information about that the new S9 miner soon will come out on the market so now you can preorder your mining shares with the new S9 Miners."

So they don't tell a timeline ... just that your buying "2000 GH S9 Mining including all costs for 12 months." So they are selling these "shares" banking they will make money with no stat date "This product doesn’t start mining before we have them in the farm".  It's kinda scammy to say the least.

In the past they did that to the S7 and it wasn't a scam.

It is scammy to list a pre-order like that and not to list something like pre-order in title of product on site in my opinion.  I'm not saying they will not provide it eventually.  But they have no clue with the ""This product doesn’t start mining before we have them in the farm"

They are listing a product they know will hit market eventually.   But I don't think anyone has a confirmed sale from bitmain.  You have an official bitmain response above... so sounds like MinningSweden does not have them on order.

Source for this?

Interesting if true.  This vendor in past has been quick to post info if who I'm thinking https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1195199.msg12543681#msg12543681 .

I have not seen/heard of this either.   But if who I'm thinking of... they seem to put info on here pretty quick just don't mention word leak info.... they don't like that

hrmm you're getting the HW errors too.. undercocked its rock solid but at factory frequency and an overrated psu.. i am averaging over 1% HW errors, is this the norm for all batches?

No... your missing the percent mine is WELL under 1 percent.   What PSU are you using?  I don't think APW3-12-1600 is overrated is your talking about it.  I have had a few and no issues.

As mentioned I am using factory settings just changed pool info, and static IP. So  that means factory frequency which has been same since batch 8, so it's pretty well tested.  Have you tried other pools?  As over 1 percent is not normal.  Look at how small of percentage I am getting in screenshot's.
