Hi,

Im trying to figure out why my S7 miner is going into this idle state every 24 hours. I'm pretty sure its not overheating as the temp stays around 62-68. It was running just fine a month ago. Anyone run into this problem before?

Thanks!

Can'T tell you anything without a screenshot of the status page. It could be something as silly as the pool going offline, etc.

Here is the SS. This is after it goes down and just sits there every day until I restart it.

Here is the SS

You have clear and massive ASIC failure, try underclocking to 500mhz. Then completely power cycle your PSU, also unplug the PCI-e for a minute, then replug everything. Hopefully its just a poor PSU and the S7 remain in good condition.

So are you saying it works for 24 hours? Then goes to what screenshot is?

Just curious what PSU are you using with your setup?  Did miner run normal or has done this since you plugged it in?

That is correct. I am using the BITMAIN PSU and it has been working just fine the last 30 days since I got it.
I have another one set up right next to it, no problems with that one.

When you first boot it and get it hashing what does the asic section look like?

It should look something like this if everything is working:

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Try what i said, then. Look more and more like a PSU issue.

I meant about the unplugging and all that. I did set it to 500Mhz and it has been running pretty stable so far. I will update again later. I also emailed bitmain about the psu.

Thanks!

Just to cover another base, check and make sure none of your heatsinks shook loose.. i notice in your pictures that one chain runs hotter than the others.

You said it stays around 62 to 68ish but after running for 2 minutes the last chain is already at 73. Not ruling out the psu but it could be worth looking at..

Yeah now that you bring that up, I am noticing  on that first picture I sent that last chain is in the 70's while the others were at 32 when the miner was "idle".

Its the bitmain PSU so would be a APW3-12-1600 of some sort.

That is correct. I am using the BITMAIN PSU and it has been working just fine the last 30 days since I got it.
I have another one set up right next to it, no problems with that one.

OP do you have a second psu you can switch it out with? Gussing probley not.   What is voltage of electricity going into it? Just checking on it.

Good job on paying attention. I'm thinking the PSU would not work at all on 120v. I guess using a multimeter would tell for real, if the PSU went bad.

Just an update..

Its been over 24 hours running at 500mhz and it still seems stable. Not mining quite as fast, but better then the thing going down all the time.

Im actually using a 5k WATT 220v step up converter which is plugged into a 120v. I know its not ideal, but its what I had to work with.

You may want to try 650hz etc, clearly you have a problem somewhere with your supply of power. Maybe you're not feeding high enough voltage to the PSU, maybe its not a very good unit.

If you are able to you might try it at some place that actually has the 205 volts I believe PSU say's it needs.   A step up from 120v... might work and might get it started.  But it was in no way what that PSU was made for.

So PSU might be fine, it just was not meant for your setup.  You might look at like EVGA 1600 or something that was made for 120v.
