I guess the name of the person conducting the investigation will be kept a secret. I'm not going to give away that name.
1) Who gave the assignment to mr.x?
2) You know the name so you're involved?
3) When was mr.x hired? I didn't see any post about that here or on the official forum.

And now you combine:

There is no central authority.

Thats REALLY bad at all. And with actions like this NEM loses a lot of reliability.

I am awaiting your answer, thank you.

1) mr. himself did. He's one of those people that just do things instead of just talking
2) I knew about it and I posted the results. That's pretty much all my involvement.
3) See 1). Can't tell you a date as I have no idea when exactly he started. He showed everyone the data. They were showing some extreme clusters which caused another round of removal.

Noone was hired, No money was spent.

Hope that answers your questions.

So Mr.X came - showed - and there was the final decission. Community involvement zero. Very transparent.

I'm sorry but what would that have looked like ?

"Hello all you sockpuppets. Shall we kick sockpuppet?"
"Yes, please kick us all"

Also the sockmasters were getting lazier during the 2nd round and we needed them to be unaware so they wouldn't start to cover their tracks when redeeming.

I get where you're coming from but in all honest I don't know how we should have included the whole community without tipping everyone off.

822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 10, 2015, 01:45:57 PM
NEM's goal was always to have a wide distribution to unique people. We know that having whales risks the success of a crypto currency, so you should all be happy that somebody puts that much effort in it.

And what about this: Start complaining, when you see your stake was removed. Not before that...

That's a selfish move.

First I think about the Project itself. This decision will hurt the project. Many questions will arise and NEM will suffer from FUD after release like NXT suffered.
Then I think about my friends.
And then I think about my own stake which I don't care that much.

Quote
NEM's goal was always to have a wide distribution to unique people.

They are killing their own goal. That's why I said that NEM was derailing from its course as well.

FUD is something NEM has dealt with from day 1. Bring it on I guess.
Your a Sr. Member and a known NXTer. If you make your case during the extended redemption period you and your friends might get their stakes back (if you where removed that is). TWinnderD (I'm sure the name rings a bell ?) was in the exact same situation and got most of his stakes back (but then again he just made his case and asked me instead of going striaght into the thread and starting to point fingers).
823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 10, 2015, 01:42:56 PM
I can't believe this type of action. I invested in NEM over a year ago, because I got really interested about the ideas of how to improve the fairness in finance. I have been checking all the time how things are rolling, but not been active posting. Just here for the interest for a great project and with just one account and stake. Actually I registered to BTT just for NEM. I think that many accounts are registered during that time because of the end of 2013 bitcoin boom.

And now I find my address on the sockpuppet list about to get kicked out. This just makes me speechless. I have praised this project to all my friends and people I've met that are interested in technology. And now this. You should really reconsider how you wan't to conduct these kind of processes.

  Huh

As I told you via pm - Every single person that was marked as sock will get the chance to make their case during the extended redemption period. People have hade their case during the first round as well and some of them got back.

Why is NEMforum always so slow?

It isn't for me.

I'll try answering all the question 1 by 1...just give me a bit of time....I'm at work afterall (good thing this was released on a relatively calm day).
827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 10, 2015, 12:32:56 PM
Who decided to remove those accounts then? Who can we blaim? Who has the centralized authority of NEM?

Really pissed that the 'stakeholders' are ignored to make a decision.

You guys asked us 10 times about logo opiniions. But important decision like this are made by the 'Boss' of NEM.  Huh

There is no central authority. I guess the name of the person conducting the investigation will be kept a secret. I'm not going to give away that name. No need for anyone else receiving hate.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 10, 2015, 12:20:01 PM

I told many friends to join NEM in the beginning.

They were never active in Bitcointalk forum afterwards. I hope they won't be kicked out, because NEM could bring them to the cryptocurrency world and bring new businesses and people.
But you guys are killing new blood into it. Well done. This way the cryptocurrency world never grow.

They will probably blaim me now for not being active here. Losing faith in NEM.
Same here, got 3 of my colleagues at my company into NEM and also 5 or 6 from our association for complimentary WiFi in my hometown. Idk if they are now also on "the list" i'll check that later sure. I remember it was also ok when somebody registered a stake for a family memeber, friend, ...what ever... What about them? Are those people "blacklisted" too now...?

Same story here bro. Hope my friends (2 of them) will get their stake.

I really mis UtopianFuture now.

Shared my thoughts about my stake here;

https://nxtforum.org/alternate-cryptocurrencies/nemstake-discussion/msg167786/#msg167786

I hope you won't blacklist my stake now. Centralization at its best!

Ps. Didn't log into Bitcointalk forum for months. This post of Patmast3r pushed me to the edge to do it and react here. It really is a low level decision.

Please just remember that it's really only a post of patmast3r. I didn't conduct the investigation or make any of the decisions.
So yes please voice your concerns and everything but - and of course this goes out to everyone - don't hate me for it. I'm just the one posting this (and the one getting the hate PMs of course).

Thanks for the numbers Smiley It's true many people left, will be interesting to see how many people will ultimately remember their NEM

I think we can assume that all people who went through all phases of redemption will remember their NEM. I'm more worried about how many people might have lost their priv-key or somehow messed up redemption.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 10, 2015, 07:27:29 AM
is there any reason why people are not just ignoreing the latest moron that is infesting this thread ?

You can do it people Smiley

832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NODE Revolution: "Money is a means of payment, not speculation" (с) on: March 09, 2015, 06:02:14 PM
Quick thought: maybe other exchanges are not listing node because nem will be listed by them when launched. I believe node is seen as a competitor to nem since they both spawned off the idea from nxt. Seeing all the hardcore nemsters in this thread every now and then trying to FUD node makes node look like their main competition. Maybe there is backroom deals going on with the nem team and exchanges.

I don't think Exchanges give a flying fart about wether projects are rivals.
Poloniex says they list innovative coins so if you contacted them they would probably add NODE.
The hard part ist often not being listed but staying on an exchange. If the volume is too low you'll be delisted again and coming back from that seems more than unlikely.

Also nemsters trying to FUD here ? I hope you don't mean Taunsew ?

?

Lol..hardly representative.

So I look my FB page and it has a NEM post saying to find your real account data just click on real acount data and voila!

problem is everytime you click it you get new details?HuhHuhHuh?

WTF?

Your supposed to "verify real account data" not generate them.
As the poster before me said that's just a keygenerator that's not linked to anything.
835  Other / Meta / Re: I wish people would follow one basic rule..then a lot of strife would be avoided on: March 08, 2015, 11:35:24 AM
...

I have to respectfully disagree. Many, many people here have lost their money betting on some random scamcoin over he years. Some scam coins even used to look slightly "legit", like XC. It's sometimes hard to tell a scamcoin from a non scamcoin, and that's where these "Proof Of", "Scam", etc threads come in, to warn newcommers of the dangers of a particular coin, though I admit some of these threads are made for blatan manipulation(And do not actually tell the truth)

For me, what makes a scamcoin different from a "legit" coin, is

1) Scamcoins usually have very small developer teams(So that most of the $ gained from the scam goes to 1 person)
2) Scamcoins usually have crappy names, such as Visacoin, Bankcoin, Stackcoin, etc
3) Scamcoins usually have some sort of borderline scam technique, such as a premine or instamine

Here's a good article on how to spot a scamcoin. http://cryptolife.net/the-anatomy-of-a-scamcoin-7-things-to-know-before-investing-in-an-altcoin/

+1 Exposing scams in any field of endeavour is a noble cause.

There is no point in it though if you can't tell who's lying. Someone calling a project a scam may just work on a competing project or simply be wrong about it. It would be better to post such accusations in the thread and get a discussion going there than opening a thread about it. Not to mention many of those threads are started by completely new accounts which makes them even more fishy and worthless.
836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 07, 2015, 11:30:16 AM

Ah, thanks. That's an excellent explanation of how remote harvesting works. It sounds like the equivalent of NXT's leased forging feature although I understand with NXT, the forging rewards aren't redirected automatically but instead have to be distributed manually by whoever you lease your account to (typically a pool).

As for the AE, I suppose if the platform is good enough, then the talent will follow.

Also I agree with your other points.

Yes, NEM's remote harvesting and NXT's leased forging have a lot in common, but the way I see it is NXT's leased forging was designed to be an answer to PoW's mining pools.  It allowed people that didn't have a node to still do a little forging (assuming the trusted node/pool manager pays them).

Where as NEM's remote harvesting is actually a security precaution.

So while the tech is similar, the reason to be and how it plays out is actually quite different.

Topic came up on forum.nemcoin.com as well in the last days. On the outside secure harvesting and leased forging sound the same but like jabo said they were created with different use cases in mind.
Both mechanisms transfer forging/harvesting power to another account.
Both do not jeopardize the original balance of the leasing account.
However with forged leasing you a) have to request your earnings manually and b) have to trust the other party not to spend your eanings until you request them. So while your original balance is safe your earnings aren't (plz correct me if I'm wrong).
Secure harvesting credits you automatically (no fees) and you don't have to trust anyone (which is why the term trustless harvesting is being discussed as better suiting).

I think that we haven't released all the details of PoI shows the team's confidence that the algorithm has no fatal flaw in it.

I hope it's not a case of Schneier's law... Since last time I thought about how PoI could work I came to a solution, but it requires existence of a global network with unlimited throughput and/or zero latency.

I'm not very math savvy and wasn't involved at all in the development of POI but I'm positive that neither unlimited throughput nor zero latency are assumptions made about the network for POI to work.
838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 07, 2015, 09:43:34 AM
PSA: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PRIV-KEY !!!

When NEMESIS hit's, if your priv-key is lost so are you.
Check it now! Don't come crying later!

We don't want NEM lying around in inaccessible accounts. Do your part and double check everything (Use the validator built into the wallet).

Check this thread and the forum from time to time. If we find problems with your account, in the DB there is no other way for us to reach you (been trying NXT messages...people don't answer).

PS: DO NOT take this as a hint that launch is coming. I've just noticed people don't keep their priv-keys safe.
839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: March 07, 2015, 07:20:36 AM
I think the complete details about PoI will, for obvious reasons, only be revealed after launch.

What is this obvious reason that outweighs security problems that will arise if the algo is flawed?

Most obvious reason is it ain't done yet. Makoto analysed both the NXT and BTC blockchain to see how POI would behave if our network was to show similar activity. Now he and bloody are changing some parameters for POI.

Makoto is working on a POI writeup (not a proper whitepaper yet afaik) but has been too busy with regular work lately. Now he seems to be sick too so I'm not sure when this will be done.

nutildah, I can understand your frustrations and you are certainly entitled to your own opinions, but I suppose you don't expect your "scam warnings" to be taken seriously, right?

Prove me wrong then.

NEM devs work for a year on code and say they will only release when ready.

Does Nutildah think that a double dog dare to NEM devs to release will get them so scared they fold and have to launch?

nutildah has been on my ignore list for months. Why are you guys still trying to reason with him ?
