8201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][LTC] Online Litecoin wallet - LTC-Wallet.com on: July 02, 2013, 08:54:59 PM
I will also pipe in that many users (myself included) weren't even aware of the interest scam being played down on the website. I never knew nor cared about any interest payments. I just wanted a place to put it without going through the hassle of syncing the whole Litecoin blockchain on my computer. I really wish people would quit waving around that "interest! stupid obvious scam! interest!" banner every time...

I don't think anyone should be blaimed for trusting this site. If all these captains could pop-up before it was appearent it was a scam it would be a lot easier for everyone.

What is interesting to me is that the owner of the site was very communicative. I had a lot of back and forth messages between me and him, and he was always clear and concise in his answers. Any time I had an issue with the site (even after he already had my money) he went through the time to help me resolve them. Any time I reported an error in the site, he got it fixed pretty fast.

I really don't know where everything went wrong. Maybe it's possible that he realized how much money people were depositing and greed got the best of him (ex. he said "wow, $500k?! There's no way I can return this now!").

I really still hope this is all just a misunderstanding though. Based on reading other information about the site, it has actually had server errors multiple times in the past.
8202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][LTC] Online Litecoin wallet - LTC-Wallet.com on: July 02, 2013, 10:13:03 AM
Please, every honest soul, read it.

I'm an unemployed person and I have 90% disability. I can't work for my living because of my disability. I've used to be a trucker before that terrible accident that put me into wheelchair. LTC was my last hope. I took all my savings and deposited it to ltc-wallet. Now that scammer stole everything I had. I have no means to pay my bills. I don't know how to continue. I even don't have money to buy food!

Please. I know there're good and honest people around here. I was a good worker and I worked half of my life for the well-being of this country. If you hear me, please give me a chance to get out of this unfortunate situation and donate some LTC to:

LYGdrwspUa8zPMBHBvjpb97WiBV1pqyQYC

Thank you and may the God bless your way.

I hope I don't come across as unconsiderate but did anyone else get the feeling after reading this it did not come across as genuine ?

I kept it to myself but definitely. When I read it my first thought was "if the money was that important to you and you were really in this situation, why would you be stupid enough to give it away to someone else?" I have really big doubts anyone would really do something that ridiculous.
8203  Economy / Services / Re: FREE BTC! BTC Faucet Timer/Rotator! on: July 02, 2013, 08:58:39 AM
Hi Ranlo,

I'd like to notify you that my faucet is now on a 30 min cooldown which brings it in line with many other faucets.
The payout is based on luck. You have a chance of claiming up to 10% of the money tree's balance (which is funded partially by watching videos and donation from other users).

Feel free to check it out: http://cfm.crayeo.com/coin/money_tree

Here's a free bump for you too!

Thanks! I'll give it a go and evaluate it. If it works out well, it will be added, Smiley. Can you add some sort of past payment list to the site for payment verification as well?
8204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: July 02, 2013, 08:45:14 AM
This would be a good idea. For those of us in charge of taking care of checking out articles, we could be put in to a special group where if people try to delete an article or wipe it, it would go in to a queue for us to look into and either accept or deny the changes. I think that would be a perfect solution.
On the main devtome page....to the left there's 'Recent Changes' - select it to show several pages worth of them; all and any edits are listed there, including deletions.

Got you. That works too! Thanks, :p.

Everyone who has received devcoins in this round or the previous, please vote for your favorite logos in the vote thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=248199.0

Please vote on a scale of 0 to 99, for your favorite logos from the gallery. Whatever you do not vote for will be considered a zero. Voters will automatically be recused from voting on their own logo. Please use a format like:

Alice: 74
Bob: 98
Carol: 62

The votes will be tabulated on Satuday, July 6. The winner will get 8 shares, second place will get 4 shares, third place 2 shares, and 1 for fourth.

There's no place to vote on that devtome page aegis linked to on the devcoin you linked to, and I did log in and I did get paid shares the last 2 rounds.

So you want us to look at all those designs and then vote on a thread here (the aegis thread you linked to)?  So how many designs can we vote for, this is not clear to me?  It looks like you're saying vote on your top 3 favorites but that's not clear and some people are only voting for one design while one guy voted for 2 designs.

It's gonna be out of whack if we don't use the same standard for everyone.

Please clarify.  Thanks.

In the post you quoted, he gave the link to where you vote at...

And he said any one you don't vote for gets a score of zero, meaning vote for all if you want. If you choose not to, the ones you don't vote for get a 0.

I don't get what was confusing, :p.

Ok, the thread I get but if people vote for differing amounts that creates a lopsided effect.  For example, 10% of people here will be more active or have more time so they'll vote for many more deigns.  So those X number of designs are getting free votes.

The reason is that everyone voting has a feeling or a vote regarding all the designs but they're just not expressing them for whatever reason.

We need uniformity.

So everyone who votes, everyone, should have to take the time to choose your top 3 favorite and then assign those top 3 whatever numbers you want.  That way it will be an even and uniform voting protocol and the best or most liked design will win rather than the design which happened to be liked by the busiest or more free Time having individuals.

The voting situation is irrelevant as to how we vote. The majority of people aren't going to vote just because people don't like to vote. Look at voting in presidential elections or other areas. No matter how you do it, you're still only going to get a small group of people, and the results will always be biased. There's no way around that.

This voting is allowing you to say, for example, "I like this one and this one equally. I think this one's alright, but I like the other two more. This other one I don't like at all." An example there would be 99, 99, 90, 0. They are giving us more options, and more options should never be taken as being a bad thing.

Done! Is the logo going to be used in the DVC client as well, or just on the site?

8209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MultiCoin][Stratum+GW] multipool.in - Always mine the most profitable coin on: July 02, 2013, 04:16:34 AM
multiport switched to WDC, looks like many multiporters are fine but I'm not able to connect... Either via multiport or directly to the WDC pool. I've manually switched over to LTC since it's close to as profitable.

Yeah, the problem is that I moved dgc, wdc and nvc off to another server..  It is an m1.small instance, which is supposed to have half of the CPU power of an m1.medium instance (which all of the other coin daemons, plus mysql, plus the frontend, plus the pools were running on).  But for some reason the m1.small instance is not able to handle the load of only those 3 coins.  I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but I moved digitalcoin back to the main box last night.  But even now with just WDC and NVC on the box, it's still overloaded.  I'm going to be changing around the architecture a bit in the next few days to make it more scalable.  Growing pains are good, right?  Smiley

Hey, it's definitely a learning experience. When I run into issues with development it annoys me, but at least then I learn from it so I figure it's a positive, :p.

Fuzzy Bear's article Archaeology was deleted:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=archaeology

Could whoever did that please contact Fuzzy Bear and say why it was deleted? Also, if anyone ever wants to delete an article, you must contact the author first.

Ouch... you would think it would log the person who made the changes (like it does with article changes)... maybe weisoq can see that information?

This is what I was talking about weeks ago when I said the current system had no security in place and just one hater or someone from a competing coin could wreak havoc the day before a payout.  It would be impossible to restore articles to their normal place of dozens of people lose their work or have it altered.

A full delete should never be allowed without a higher level access and then have an auto-log which tracks all deletes.  I keep all my work backed on my laptop but many might not.  And it would still be a hassle just to replace that much work.  It's only a matter of time.

This would be a good idea. For those of us in charge of taking care of checking out articles, we could be put in to a special group where if people try to delete an article or wipe it, it would go in to a queue for us to look into and either accept or deny the changes. Ok because that's made me paranoid I've just checked through every writers page to make sure that hasn't happened to any others that I misinterpreted as a stub or header. There were no other 'deleted' pages (only a couple I think yet to be started/self-deleted by devtome_writer - Human_Cybernetic_Enhancement & Solid_Fuel_Gasifiers). Feel free to check for yourself though, and while you're there you could file them...

Also fwiw no article of an existing writer is actually ever deleted in Devtome, at least that I can work out. If you/anybody else does apparently delete one, to restore it: Select the (apparently deleted, red text) article - click on 'create this page' - type in anything (e.g. 'test') - save - then select 'old revisions - pick the one you want of all historial versions - 'edit this page' - save.

Wow, that is awesome news. Thanks for that. I wasn't sure how we could restore articles once they're deleted, and for some reason the idea of "editing" in a new article so you can see previous revisions skipped my idea thinktank.

Can the mods please post as much info they can about toork? I know he was using tormail etc but if you could please post all the info you have we can at least compile all the info in regards to this issue so that people can compile comprehensive reports to the authorities.

I don't have an account on litecoin's forums but you can toss up my information:

LTC: ~23
FTC: ~300

I was using both of the sites.

Can you take a moment to register ? It's quick I promise just post your addresses and the amount

I'll do it if it ends up making a difference later. I sent coins from three different PC's and each of them requires a bit of work to get in to (as they are primarily used for other tasks). If it goes anywhere, I'll take the time to deal with pulling each of the addresses and the exact amounts.

Okay, called GoDaddy. Apparently the domain was updated just today, and while the situation is "unusual", it's not likely canceled or pulled - just in some weird state of limbo by the developer. I suspect, given the server errors shown recently and the recent posts here on litecoin.net forums, it's no "SCAMMER STOLE MAH MONEYS" situation, just a bumpy server transition.

*crosses fingers*

Falcon, did you ask for toork's name or any info they might have had (billing address, etc.)?

They won't give that information out without a subpoena from law enforcement.

That's what I figured.  I've already contacted a lawyer and will keep everybody here informed.  Thanks for making first contact!

Definitely keep me in the loop, please. If this turns out to be a scam I will definitely be behind you 100% in getting justice. If the police are involved they can also subpoena the payment information which can be used to follow more trails.

I just added a block detail page that shows the detailed payouts for each block.  (Linked from the block number on the pool stats page)

Just looked -- that's awesome! Is it possible to put the logged in user's info at the top as well to make it easier to find your own?

Good idea, I'll do that as soon as I get a chance.

Sounds great. Thanks! Smiley

Check it out now.

Not seeing any change on my end. Just tried a few blocks and I still have to ctrl + f to search for the name.
8220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][LTC] Online Litecoin wallet - LTC-Wallet.com on: July 01, 2013, 02:19:45 AM
Based on what I read when I started researching this, the site started getting Error 500's (meaning the daemon for the host was down) on the 26th. The site then came back up after that.

It is possible that the site went through another issue on the 27th in relation to the domain or something, though it's really hard to tell. I still think a lot of people are jumping the gun here and making assumptions with no real reasoning behind it. As I said, it has always taken 3-4 days for him to get back to me, even weeks ago. So waiting 3 days now is still just in the realm of normal business.

Now, if this does turn out to have been a scam, I am more than willing to join in on any court cases and such to get back what's ours. I can submit my own testimony as well as anything else that's needed to seek justice.

But at this point I have not seen enough proof that it's a scam, so I am reserving my judgement for later.
