8221  Other / Meta / Re: [Report] Ban Evasion [Requesting Admin/mod to check those and ban] on: January 14, 2019, 08:18:36 AM
Is there a validity period for a "Ban evasion"?
Because I've found an appeal thread from 2014 year

Don't think there's any validity period for "ban evasion"
If the account has been active outside of their appeal thread after they've been banned (basically after they posted the appeal) - that's ban evasion. Red tag doesn't matter.
If an account with red tag (useless account) can also be reported for ban evasion then the period shouldn't matter too. If period are put into consideration then accounts can just wait years before been woken and re-used.
8222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Untick the box for less important moved topics on: January 14, 2019, 07:44:02 AM
It can keep your post history neat and very presentable, but it does not increase the quality of the content you post, there is no alternative for quality.

The two works hand in hand. Quality can't work without good posting history. If someone has truly changed it'll be very obvious by looking at his post history and sometime people confused it for bought account. I was once a one line spammer and in my defends I never knew I was commiting a crime until LoyceV called my attention and asked me to clean my account, which I did. From that very day I started posting right and it increased my quality . If you look at my profile on BPIP you will notice many of my post/replies got deleted. In order for other users to enjoy the benefits of the forum and get that feeling of adding value to the forum by merits that's why I encourage good posting habit it's accompanied with quality posting.

When you post right you'll be encouraged to post with quality.
8223  Economy / Reputation / Re: How is false negative red tags handled on: January 14, 2019, 07:00:51 AM
Second, ban evasion is a violation of forum rules so should be reported to moderators. There is no need for red trust for rule violations

Thanks for the correction, I was mislead by the feedbacks I saw on some accounts, they affected my judgement.

The best way to handle it is to appeal the red trust with the person who wrote it.

Thanks, since this isn't moderated let me not bite more than I can chew. I'll just update my custom trust list for the main time and clear my previous negative feedback believing they weren't necessary, leaving the neg feedbacks for the professionals to handle Grin

8224  Economy / Reputation / How is false negative red tags handled on: January 14, 2019, 05:33:32 AM
So I picked interested in the whole trust feature of the forum after the recent hype and S_Therapist was advertising it all over meta with his guides, infograph and importance of custom trust list.  I now have a custom trust list and have started red tagging. Still playing it safe though but will up my game after some of my questions are answers. I was about red tagging a ban evasion offender then notice he red tagged someone else (with no evidence) for red tagging him. So  below are my questions;
  • if I get a false red tag (no valid evidence) how is it handled, will it be removed or countered with a positive trust after appeal
  • Is there an exeption to breaking of the rules accounts shouldn't be red tagged for?
  • Are there some offends only DT memebers can red tag account in which the average users can't.
8225  Economy / Reputation / Re: S_Therapist = mdayonliner on: January 13, 2019, 02:48:57 PM
What surprises me was the rate S_Therapist received his merits like a pro. He wrote this thread when he started like a novice even gave me credit then I was like 20merits+ above him then immediately he became a professional, knows how to construct his post and his quality improved drastically. I always believed it must be an alt account or someone bought the account but who am I to point fingers. I'm glad someelse did and maybe his is correct via the linked accounts. But no doubt   S_Therapist obviously looks like an alt account but I don't know who it belongs to.

Also I found this topic he stated "Lauda Not Anymore in DT now | How does DT work?"
it was opened 3days after creating of account. What does this tell you...
8226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US or China: Who do you think will legalize bitcoin first? on: January 13, 2019, 01:31:48 PM
None, because both countries think's that bitcoin will affect the circulation of their currency.
+1
Socking but this is just the truth. None of them will legalize bitcoin. They see it as a threat to their economy. No government is willing to give back power to the power unless we are ready to take it back by any means.  I don't see any of the above countries accepting bitcoin any time soon.
8227  Other / Beginners & Help / Untick the box for less important moved topics on: January 13, 2019, 11:01:07 AM
Most post meriters like myself usually carryout a background check before meriting newbie account for the first time. sometimes I carry out this background check on higher rank users who haven't receive any merit minus their airdropped merit before meriting their average posts but if it's a high quality post,  I just go ahead and merit them.

There are numerous topics advising on having a good post history like avoid one line replies, stop quote spamming and the rest. So in the spirit of having good quality post history  I'll like to add,  when moving your topics I advise you untick "post a redirection topic". That way your post history won't be filled with moved topics.

Note: when moving a very important topic the box can be ticked but moving your average posts it isn't required.

Lets say you post on a wrong board and was asked to move to correct board,  if it's a brand new topic or you want your post history to be freed of moved topics do as I say above. This will also help in presenting you from your post history as a good poster.
8228  Other / Serious discussion / Re: How do you make money of bitcointalk? on: January 13, 2019, 08:35:19 AM

$1.2k a week? That's as good as in the most developed countries, maybe even better. I know people in Italy who are happy to be earning €500 a month.

Funny but in my county it will take you about a year or even more to earn that amount as explained here

Altcoin Bounty are things of the past right now just like ICOs. I believe only paid bitcoin campaign can give you decent income but until then what can one do?  Promote those you believe in I guess.
8229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Explained] Importance of Custom Trust List on: January 13, 2019, 07:27:25 AM
What is the use of trust depth?
What value I need to set when I am making a custom trust list?

I was confused as you are yesterday when I decide to customize my trust list and asked same question and got this answer

You'll have to read this thread I'm quoting and take note of the highlighted areas

You may wonder why there's no list of users there, as I've explained above, but rather a single entry called "DefaultTrust".
DefaultTrust is a special user who maintains his own Trust List.
The Trust List of DefaultTrust includes the names of those preset users I've talked about.
Beneath the list, there's a value called "Depth". This value represents the number of "steps down" which the forum's software will look into Trust Lists of people in your own Trust List, to construct your final, complete list.

Now, to set up your own Trust List, you might not want to create one from scratch.
To create a list based on other users' judgements, you may just include other users' Feedback by including their names into your own Trust List and set Depth to 1.
If you believe that the people in your Trust List not only leave valuable Feedback, but also maintain good Trust Lists themselves, feel free to set Depth to 2.

I advise against higher values for Depth. That will lead to a final Trust List that includes an enormous number of people.

If you're convinced of a specific user's "bad judgment", you may simply include their name with the prefix "~".
Away with his Feedback and his Trust List, no matter how many people have included him or her.

In the extreme case where you don't want to trust anyone's judgment but your own, you may just want to include the single entry "~DefaultTrust", with a Depth of 0, preferably.
Depth 0 means that you will only take into account the Feedback of the users in your Trust List, but not their Trust Lists.
DefaultTrust doesn't leave Feedback of his own, by the way, so you might as well keep DefaultTrust without the "~" at Depth 0.
8230  Economy / Reputation / Re: shdvb has the best "Attitude" when it comes to sending trust (BPIP) on: January 13, 2019, 06:17:08 AM
Is there a badge for Top senders of merit?  If there isn't  can you create one please. As of now I only have one badge on BPIP and will love to earn more believing my smeiit sending ratio can earn me top1000  Also maybe a smerit badge will encourage more awarding of smerit since humans enjoy receiving awards. Just saying...
8231  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source on: January 13, 2019, 05:19:43 AM
Noted,  I suggest the meriting of report should stop or all valid report should be merited. It isn't just fair meeting some and ignoring others (I'm taking about the reports not the reported posts). Lets play fair. It makes me feel undervalued when I come over here I see reports get merited but mine isn't.

My apologies to everyone, I was been selfish. Merit sources, keep thy good work up. LoyceV, if this act was worth ignoring, pardon me.
8232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Explained] Importance of Custom Trust List on: January 13, 2019, 04:09:45 AM
Thanks for the explanation, You're one of those truly contributing to the forum positively and your merits earned can reflect that.  After users must have read the importance of custom trust list an sure they'll love to get theirs too. Also I love the way you added important threads to make it easier for users to access those topic instead of searching individually maybe you should also add this threads beneath fhe post I believe anyone who's interested in using their trust feature  also needs to understand;

8233  Other / Meta / Re: A short introduction to the Trust System on: January 12, 2019, 08:00:32 PM
Hello qwk I decided to make use of the trust system but I'm a little confused, lets say I decided to add the users below to my trust list, from the image below please answer my questions.

1: what's the maximum number of users I can add to my trust list?
2: that which the back arrow is pointing at what does it mean?
3: that which the red arrow is pointing at, what does it mean and what's the maximum number to write there?.

I'll appreciate if I get a direct answer from qwk or someone who truly knows the answer to my questions and not just some random reply.
8234  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Activity 30 Rank newbie on: January 12, 2019, 01:46:09 PM
And even after 7 months he is still newbie lol

After some users will be complaining that the merit system isn't working. Here is a example of it working perfectly.  Users isn't worth meriting and since them haven't received any.  He/she needs improve on his writing skills and maybe apply for any of those Merit Giveaways threads that's if he thinks he has quality posts aside the one line replies I see.
8235  Other / Meta / How centralized is the forum concerning PMs on: January 12, 2019, 01:25:21 PM
Question: When I send a pm to someone are they encrypted or can my personal messages be access by administrator?  Let say I want to have a private discussion with someone else can the messages we send to each other be accessed by administrators of forum or our messages can only be accessible if the receive makes them available.

Why I'm asking this questions, I know in some countries the government has right to access social media account of suspects etc so back to my question above.

I notice this post I reported all got merited ,Were this bad reports on my side? how come I wasn't rewarded or are  the merit reward for reporting quality post optional? If they aren't them I believe I should be encouraged

Yeah, it's optional. It should be kind of volunteer tasks.

Noted,  I suggest the meriting of report should stop or all valid report should be merited. It isn't just fair meeting some and ignoring others (I'm taking about the reports not the reported posts). 8237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adoption: Don't just sit down, do something on: January 12, 2019, 08:08:39 AM
Both ETH and BTC have huge fees from time to time and I can't in good faith recommend them to anyone.

That was when the network was overloaded, as of current I believe it takes about $0.1cent +/- to excute a transaction on the ethereum blockchain and as of bitcoin I haven't done transact for quite some time but i believe the fees will be in cents too.  We have various cryptocurrency so if bitcoin fees becomes high a merchant can have other options for the main time. I believe the goals is to get cryptocurrency adopted with bitcoin plotting the adoption.
8238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Post in Meta Section They Say, You will have merits they say on: January 12, 2019, 06:22:49 AM
Well if you feel you have been posting quality posts for a very long time and have been missed by post meriters then I recommend you read this topic

Note: just posting on meta doesn't give you merit you need to be technical, if you aren't a merit or DT specialist or good at discovering why accounts were banned then find somewhere else to post because the board is a very competitive one. If you aren't smart enough you won't receive merits there

Lol I'm really enjoying this Lauda, DT list drama. The forum was actually becoming boring before theymos gave us something to discuss about. My take on this is that, if you don't like the way things are been done here,  you're free to leave forum, no one is holding you here.  We have numerous cryptocurrency related forums maybe altcointalk is where you belong 😂

if you don't like the way things are been done here,  you're free to leave forum, no one is holding you here.  We have numerous cryptocurrency related forums maybe altcointalk is where you belong 😂
the new DT update was made mainly to increase decentralization, people have the right to disagree or argue even with theymos himself,

Do you understand what decentralisation is?  Giving power to very few people isn't it. and if you feel they have right to disagree, then they should do it right not making the forum uncomfortable to other or better still leave forum simple 😁
