if they have 1 EH and brought it here, my guess is ramp up would not be very long and hmm I bet we would find blocks a lot more often with that much hash.

I've used kano's pool many years ago, the issue is variance consistency (this being how much is expected to be paid at the end of the week), no blocks = no BTC. While yes in the long run it all equals out, but in the month to month when bills need to be paid and hashrate is up and down you want stability a I will get this much on this day. I wasn't saying only a week for testing but that a test might be done.
The pool charges about 2% so 1.1% more than here. Can you calculate how much would be earned in the past month per PH, if 100% and 80% up time was assumed?

i believe their point is that when it is making money, you are supposed to hold a portion of that money in reserves so that it covers the time when it is not making money at all or at a lower profit.

the guy I linked above is not being removed from eBay he has a rating in the 16k range - that means they have operated for years.
8224  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: May 01, 2019, 12:21:39 PM
Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? I thought only the pro model had 3 settings. There is also a high amount of variance listed in the specs.

we were asking if he might have gotten a pro because it was hashing at 50th - which is the advertised speed of the pro version in normal mode - the non pro versions are either 53th or 56th if I recall correctly.

I'm let down by this thread in soo many ways. Wink

lol how so?
8226  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: May 01, 2019, 04:52:17 AM
Nope standard S17 56th unit, it appears bitmains auto-tune function is broken because my my first 2 hashboards are avg 18000gh each and board #3 is averaging 12000gh and I only have Normal and Low Power, no turbo.

What sucks more is if it is defective, you will have to send it in and lose precious time mining.
8227  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: eBay sellers on: May 01, 2019, 03:21:19 AM
ebay doesn't allow it.
You can report them and ebay will act on it.

i get that, but how does the listing even get made? do they not review it?

crazy...
8228  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: **SOLD** Bitmain Miners S9/S9i on: May 01, 2019, 01:42:54 AM
miners are currently sold - payment is setting in escrow with @philipma1957 . Miners are ready to ship out, buyer has asked me to put a switch in the box which he is having sent to me and should arrive tomorrow or the next day. So, depending on arrival of switch, miners could ship Thursday or Friday at the latest.

I will ask for the thread to be closed once transaction is complete.
8229  Economy / Service Discussion / eBay sellers on: May 01, 2019, 01:06:28 AM
I am kind of curious as I see this more and more often - where the sellers are listing items with "30 day returns" and list prices but when you get to the description, it states they will only take direct payment - ie not thru eBay/PayPal - or will take crypto only.

how and why does eBay allow this? For example, taking direct payments and/or crypto cuts eBay out of their commission, right? Yet, these sellers have ratings in the 10's of thousands.

here is one such example.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitmain-Antminer-S15-28TH-s-Bitcoin-BTC-ASIC-MINER-w-PSU-Read-Description/293070290137?hash=item443c59bcd9:g:X2AAAOSwIz5cyFkN

what do they do once you hit buy now and pay in crypto? cancel the sale? because eBay is expecting to receive payment - correct? and if you do pay via eBay vs their crypto method in the item description - what do they do? refund the payment? relist the item?

I would be tempted to buy based on their eBay rating and that if I go thru eBay and they do not deliver - I have recourse for a refund. This seller makes it sound like he will be ripped off if they go thru eBay - seller's are also protected, they can prove they shipped with a tracking.  And again by going outside of eBay, there is no recourse or safety for the buyer.

I can find listings like this for all types of items - heck one guy asked me to pay him more on PayPal on the side after I won an auction because he found that the item was selling for more on another ad on eBay. When I refused, he cancelled the sale and refunded me what I had already paid...

I do not see how eBay allows this.  Am I missing something?

8230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: May 01, 2019, 12:50:08 AM
I received a S17 56TH unit today and seems it will only run at about 50TH in Normal or Low Power mode, anyone else seem similar behaviour?

i wonder if you got a miss labeled S17 pro, it runs at 50 TH for normal mode - does it have turbo mode option? If not, I would be in contact with Bitmain - 6 TH is a bit of a variance, too big to overlook in my opinion.

and if you did get a S17pro - I would be asking for some money back as its about 75 USD cheaper.
8231  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Miners for sale on: May 01, 2019, 12:47:19 AM
Yes any miner, but inventory changes constantly because I have several sales outlets. I don't currently have a few items and even bitmain itself is out of stock on many of their units. That doesn't mean I cant get them or wont have them tomorrow or a week from now.

https://www.ebay.com/usr/kaoticcases

but if you dont have them because inventory changes - that means not any miner just specific ones at specific times.

thank you for the ebay link - seems the best way to see what you have - the usernames must be case sensitive
8232  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Miners for sale on: April 30, 2019, 07:33:43 PM

Any miner, and custom firmware for some of the most popular miners. There are a lot and i didnt want to spam the sales forum with items so i chose to make a general post. If someone is interested in a specific model, they can email or message me and i can give the exact details there without making a whole lot of post for individual items. Your also welcome to check out my ebay page under the same name for current on hand items, but really any miner you could think of i can get.

no - not any miner - I asked about 3 and 2 of them you do not have. So, yes it would be better if you could make a detailed list - had you done that originally, it would have all been one post but due to your vagueness you have created a plethora of posts where people are asking and you are not answering except for one or two questions here or there.

edit you said to check your ebay page - when searching ebay with your name - as you stated - there is zero results. Did I use the wrong name?

8233  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Miners for sale on: April 30, 2019, 12:07:41 PM
I would be curious on prices for T15, S15, and any of the S17 models. and would prefer it to remain here not in email - that just typically leads to more spam. I dont mind the wait for you to check here Smiley

Currently I don't have any S15 or S17 available, but should have some ready soon. The T15 currently goes for around 1300 shipped w/psu.

thank you.

going to answer any of the other questions?

See? What would you do with the money if you had those "good months"? Absolutely nothing, all the extra should have been kept to pay the bills in the bad months.

Of course building a buffer takes time, and its harder for larger operations, but its not impossible. Also you should start investing in renewable energy.

Take into account that if you don't make this buffer yourself, you are trusting the pool operator to do it for you, in addition for taking higher fees (ie 4% vs 0.9%). AND, hopefully no one will ever "hack" those wallets the pool operator is keeping with everybody else's money. Of course i know most PPS users are willing to forfeit their earnings if such "rare" event occurs (that would probably close the pool), but then you are also risking to close your operation by depending on the external party.

You "could" slowly move from PPS to PPLNS, a few miner units at a time...

my miners on PPS payout every other day almost consistently - and the fee is 2% so double the fee of Kano but no where near 4% but I do know what you mean about wallets being hacked... over a year ago I lost half a bitcoin when NiceHash was hacked... sure they paid it back, eventually.... but by then BTC had lost quite a bit of value so I still lost out. I no longer use nicehash lol

I will need to stay on PPS until reserves are built up enough to handle long spells of no payments - maybe if i stop buying equipment lol

and it appears that the whale is gone after a little over 2 days. pool is back down to 30 ph --- but alas, we got no blocks during the whales time here Sad

It doesn't matter, every little push gets us closer. At 30PH a block should be found every 10 days on average. Even if we take a month or two without blocks, then another month or two will get us twice the usual number of blocks. It always averages in the long run.

Those who can't manage themselves will go to PPS pools while losing more in fees and get less reliability (orphans) and less security (pool owned wallets).

it is not necessarily about management - some have budgets and will need to have steady income - if the time between blocks is too long, they may not have enough in reserves to carry themselves. It also depends on when they got into it mining as well - as to how much they have built up reserves.

I have my miners in 4 pools - 5 in each pool. I see where some months a PPS makes more, other months where it makes less. It all varies and in the longer I look at it, it all draws closer to the same amount, more or less. But I also need to pay the huge electric bill every month and that is where the PPS comes in handy - its more of a guaranteed income.

I got back into mining when BTC was over 15k so that profitable time has helped me carry thru this extremely low profit time period. I have put zero cash into mining out of my pocket except for my initial investment of 13k USD - this bought a building, had it wired, had vents/ac/de-humidification system, etc etc and bought the first 3 miners.  Since then, I have added 17 additional miners and I put in 36 solar panels (adding 3 more soon) as well. I am still holding some BTC.  My goal is to let the mining increase the mining and to not put any $ in out of my pocket. So far, so good.

In the end, we are all just wanting to turn a profit and make some $ right? The greatest thing about mining is the versatility and availability of many pools. If one was truly greater than all the others, there would be only one pool and everyone would be in it.

that being said, I wish I had put 5 miners on kano.is a lot sooner than I had - the pool had some really good months that I missed out on. Smiley

8238  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Antminer S17 Pro 50T — $1940 — NEXT DAY on: April 29, 2019, 01:29:12 PM
There are two models now.

50T - now $1990
53T - now $2190

Bitmain changes the prices weekly, which impacts the resellers’ prices.

bitmains price has not changed since second batch - what do you mean weekly? and it has only gotten cheaper not more expensive.  At least that is based on the prices on the bitmain website. unless your guy buys them thru some other means.
8239  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Antminer S17 Pro 50T — $1940 — NEXT DAY on: April 29, 2019, 10:43:18 AM
so the price has changed on these? they are not $1940?
