8261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 09, 2019, 04:03:53 PM
Sold out in 14 minutes. I grab one to resale it. Price is high but with the current bullish-bearing market they may ROI sooner that expected.

how much do you mark up for resale?

I am thinking the ROI will be longer - but that will more then likely depend on how many were sold - as soon as they all hit the network, if there are a lot of them - I am thinking difficulty will climb and thus reduce the profitability but then again if the profits drop too much, we may have farms using S9's that shut down and thus lower difficulty back down.

I will wait till they offer some coupons and lower the price, at current price plus tariff, too high in my opinion.

edit: as a note, I see them up for sale again for April 20 - 30 shipping date.

second edit: now the S17 normal 56 TH/s is sold out for second batch.
8262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 09, 2019, 12:48:07 PM
yep - I missed the sale as well... I went to bed at 1230 am Eastern and they were still showing as "TBD" to me, I got up at 630 am and they were sold out... but yes with 2k+ price tags without coupons and with the tariff - it would be a super long ROI

I almost think it would be better if these manufacturers would stop producing products for a while so that people who bought machines could reach ROI before the new ones come out. I think I will just keep an eye out for more T15's because at 1/3rd the price, they are much more likely to make ROI than the S17 ---- though I would love to replace all 20 existing miners with 10 S17's as it would replace my 289 TH/s with 620 TH/s and while it would also replace my approx. 22,585 watts of power usage with approx. 27,900 watts of power usage - the more than double hashrate would compensate for that. Right now, my profit is just around $850 per month - the change over would put my profit around $2,650 per month (based on current difficulty and BTC price of course) to do that upgrade would cost over $25k pushing ROI to almost 1 year at current difficulty/BTC price/profit margin. But that profit will decrease rather soon, especially as now difficulty is going to climb when these hit the market. So, it is hard to justify not upgrading as my existing monthly profit may disappear but to maintain a monthly profit means to push the ROI too far out....

I just need free electricity and then profit will always be easy lol

Not sure how many were in batch 1, but they sold out fast.

stop selling accounts.... it degrades and cheapens those that actually earn it...

but if the hash rate increases the ramp up time will decrease, correct?
Yes it does increase every so often then drop back down, so the 5Nd has always been less than the Payouts page says this year.
e.g. 50PHs vs 30PHs means 66.6% faster to get to 5Nd

I would be tempted to switch my other 15 miners over (I am right around 260 Th/s if I count all my ASICs) - but that wont really bump the hashrate too much - really need one of those guys with 500 miners to switch over lol
8265  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 08, 2019, 07:47:30 PM
my set up should be able to handle these as each breaker is 30 amps and I am currently running 2 miners off of each breaker - this would put it as one miner per breaker -  I could run 10 max

I want to buy them to get the early jump on the hash rate before difficulty climbs thru the roof but I am wanting to also wait for coupons to help offset the 25% tariff - that makes it even worse to swallow a 2k price tag.... The last time I paid 2k for a miner, it took over a year to make ROI on that miner - I would like to not go a year to make ROI again.

so - even though I would love to get 10 of these and replace all my S9's - the price is really going to be the deciding factor. I may just wait for coupons and buy more T15's and make ROI hopefully faster.

hey kano do you have the android app to monitor you pool? i just shifted 500 TH to you

nice - pool could use some extra hash power.

Hi all, I just need to confirm if there is any reward/bonus in Kano Pool for the block finding miner ? If I read right, I think everyone shares equal according to their 5Nd share ? Thanks for any clarity !
A block finding reward increases everyone's variance.

No one can decide if and when they will find a block.
It reduces rewards for everyone who doesn't find a block.

Since that is out of the control of the miner, it simply turns mining into a luck game.
We don't consider mining BTC a game, so there is no reward taken from the block to give to the block finder.

Shares are rewarded based on your proportion of the work done (in the last 5Nd)
We don't consider that a game either, shares are worth the work difficulty specified by the pool.

If, however, you are a large miner, there is still the ongoing bonus (out of my pocket) as per the first post.

I wish I had that much hashing power lol I am still trying to get my building permit - no luck so far Sad
If/when I get it, I will want to put at least 100 miners on kano and then I will spread the others out to mine other SHA-256 coins such as BCH and LCC - I am currently making almost $20 a day mining LCC with just 5 S9's
8271  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); Overt AsicBoost; World First Mining Pool on: April 03, 2019, 12:10:40 PM
Hi,

we are working on that. We believe the NMC payouts are going to be processed until the end of April/at the beginning of May.

We are once again sorry about the delay.

sure - better late then never right? only 15 months and NMC has only dropped by like 1000% in value.

long haul - yes I get that we are fine but for the past 6 weeks we are not making anything that is all.

Oh not sure then time wise.

Though I'm thinking you typo'd. Last block was on the 16th of March just a little over 2 weeks. Honestly in the last 6-8 weeks we kinda killed here on the pool.

On that note lets crack this block before I move the last of my miners out of the house.

yes it was 2 weeks not 6 weeks. it was a typo. and yes, I am hoping for a block soon - been ramping up since feb 26th and still only about 80% ramped up lol

i am not counting the luck or the difficulty i was more or less talking about time frame as we are at 370 hours.

long haul - yes I get that we are fine but for the past 2 weeks we are not making anything that is all.

edited to change it from 6 weeks to 2 weeks - my damn fat fingers.

out of curiosity, what has been the historically longest dry spell prior to now?
8276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: March 29, 2019, 02:46:10 PM

Thanks for the update. Please keep me updated on any findings with the timeout.

Is it only a reboot of the Antminer that makes it show up correctly again - I suppose a restart of the Awesome Miner application doesn't resolve anything? Thanks!

I did increase the timeout - already had 2 miners report as disconnected on AM while still showing active on pool - however, within a few seconds AM showed them "reconnected" so they are still dropping but they seem to get re-added back.

I waited for one to disconnect and then restarted the AM software, it does not reconnect - the warning changes from the API warning to a simple disconnected warning.
8277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) Antminer S15 27.0 Th/s, 1600 W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: March 29, 2019, 01:24:05 PM
Just don't neglect the airflow around the miner, it is important. Ducts should not be directly attached to the miner in my opinion, but to a box where the miner resides inside instead.

my miners have considerable airflow around them, they are not in a box per se unless you count the entire building as a box Smiley - they are spaced about 18 inches apart from one another and there are 20 miners in an 8' by 8' room that has two 23" intake fans blowing into the room there is also a 5k btu AC unit and a dehumidification system. Miners stay around 60 C to mid 80 C.

For the Antminer API - did you follow my previous suggestion about testing with a completely different mining pool?

I've had a number of cases in the past where some specific mining pools could cause the problems you describe with miners showing up as Disconnected after a while - although they still were mining on the pool. What happens here is an issue on the Antminers when mining on some pools begin to respond slower and slower to monitoring applications (API requests). After a while the responses are so slow (or not given at all) that Awesome Miner will simply consider the miner to be Disconnected.

Please note that this is an issue on the Antminer under certain conditions - not an Awesome Miner issue. For this reason you will run into the same issues even if you would test with another monitoring solution.

This is also why I keep answer with the same suggestion all the time, about doing troubleshooting and testing with another mining pool, so we can confirm the issue. Thanks!

There is one setting in Awesome Miner that might help a bit, where you can have Awesome Miner wait longer for the responses from the Antminer. Please go to the Options dialog, Advanced section, and increase the "Miner API connection timeout" to 10 seconds for example. This will however not solve the main problem, only make it show up less frequent. You can try this if you want, but my main suggestion is still about the mining pool.

yes, Kano.is, Slushpool, BTC.com pool, ViaBTC pool also tried several other SHA-256 pools that are not bitcoin pools. I get it no matter what the pool is.  I understand what you mean but it does not solve my issue - I need to be able to remotely see what each miner is doing without having the need to reboot them. Before I just had the Antminer screens open - one browser window per miner (so you can imagine a lot of windows) and each window set to a 15 second refresh and this worked fine except for the need to switch between so many windows.

I will try the miner API Connection timeout - I think you suggested that once before and it might have worked - I do not recall but maybe one of the updates reset it back? and I just need to go in and change it again.

I will play with the settings this weekend and let you know.
8279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: March 28, 2019, 10:54:08 PM
I also noticed that on the dashboard screen, it shows my active miners as one number but under active devices, under "ASIC" it has the wrong value - my guess is that it relates to the T15, like it sees it as an active miner but not as an ASIC for some reason.
Before I made the change for Antminer T15 in the recent development release 6.2.9, the ASIC count wasn't including this miner like you describe. However, this should be working fine since the latest development version.

sorry but maybe I am misunderstanding - are you saying it should be corrected now? or will be corrected with next update? I have no updates to install and says it is using most current version but I do not see the temps for the T15 nor do I see it counted as an ASIC on the dashboard screen.

Still having the API disconnect every few minutes as well. sometimes it reconnects other times I have to reboot all the miners. I may have to stop using AM and find another way to report miner details. I feel that with all the reboots that I am just losing money because the miners are being stopped and rebooted simply so AM can see them - when in fact they are working fine.
8280  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) Antminer S15 27.0 Th/s, 1600 W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: March 28, 2019, 06:24:06 PM
let us know once it sets up.

will do - I will take the measurements this weekend - should be pretty straight forward.

currently this is how they are - you can see the 4" goes from back of miner to the 6" and then with a 12" tube to outside. Once done I will be insulating the walls as well to reduce heat coming in from outside.
