"2021 Basketball Hall of Fame Class"

- Players: Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Chris Webber, Ben Wallace

- Coaches: Rick Adelman, Jay Wright, Bill Russell

- WNBA: Yolanda Griffith, Lauren Jackson

- International Committee: Toni Kukoc

The final list should be officially announced in a day or two, it was about damn time they elect Chris Webber into the HOF!!!

Reading most of the comments in the last two pages about the Blazers/Nuggets game made me cringe so bad, if Nuggets lose they will avoid the Lakers in the first round. /topic

Chris Webber needed a win after being fired from his job as a commentator.

I’m glad at least the Warriors game is televised today. This will probably be the most exciting day of basketball so far this year. A nice intro to the playoffs. Enjoy today’s games!

I’m hesitant to use any service that asks for KYC rules to be met. Mostly because privacy is something that can be taken less serious by some people and security loopholes are often found by those trying to exploit a lot of information held insecurely in one spot. Many crypto operations don’t make their owners known easily, so it’s hard to rely on their security practices for your sensitive information.
8263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: May 16, 2021, 07:34:11 AM
I can’t believe that none of the western conference games that matter tomorrow are being nationally broadcast (unless my app is wrong or something changes). How is this possible? Both the Lakers and Portland games should be heavily watched events. I hope they were just late to be added to TNT or ESPN’s schedules or something…
8264  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you see yourself quitting after this bullrun? on: May 16, 2021, 06:27:33 AM
How about you? Do you see yourself quitting your day job after this current bullrun? I hope you make enough to start with a business of your own.

It would be really great if the bull run went high enough to where even starting a business of your own would be unnecessary.  I think the ultimate dream is to be able to invest in the businesses for your friends and family in order to get them out of the rat race or to have enough money to spend all your time giving it away like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.  Starting your own business is no small feat either though.  Especially if you're able to do it with something you love.
8265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 16, 2021, 06:23:41 AM
Lakers tied with the Trail Blazers again after winning against the Pacers. If both teams win their games 1 more and Mavs lose, we will have a triple tie.
Yeah, that would be so interesting, but I think Mavs would not lose in their last game, it's Blazers who have the toughest opponent which is the Nuggets. I can see that the Lakers and Mavericks will have an easy win tomorrow.

Lots of early games tomorrow, don't miss putting a bet, the early the better.

By the way, not much excitement in the East as we can already tell the positioning now.

A triple tie to go along with a play-in tournament would be an interesting end to the regular season.  I have no idea which teams have the best record against who and how a triple tie would work out.  Hopefully one team has a better record against both others or else we might see a play-in for the play-in tournament?  It would make for some great comedy on sports shows and also I'm sure a golden quote from LeBron on his thoughts about all this since he seemed to be such a fan of the play-in already.
8266  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin not yet at $100k, why? on: May 15, 2021, 10:46:08 PM
People were too bullish so the market needed to wipe out some leveraged longs. This needs to happen as markets rise. It has the added bonus of showing irrational investors that they can’t just 75x leverage long an asset and get rich. Everyone would have Diamond hands if it was easy. Sometimes not taking shortcuts and stacking sats while ignoring the noise is the way to go…
8267  Other / Meta / Re: Any URL shortener rules for sigs, avatars, or the personal text field? on: May 15, 2021, 10:06:35 PM
As others have said, so long as it isn’t a malicious link or forwarding you to somewhere that would be against forum rules to post here then I doubt anyone would have a problem with it, outside of maybe whoever complained. Honestly, someone out there will hate anything you do no matter what. Just use your best judgement, try to be a good person, and don’t give a fuck what other people think. You’ll be happier.
8268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: May 15, 2021, 10:00:51 PM
I’ve been tossing some signature earnings into shitcoins lately like some others have mentioned. This current market is just so insane it’s hard not to dive in with the rest of the crazies. It’s nice to have a little play money every week to toss at these meme tokens. When you ride the wave right between shitcoins it can be shockingly profitable. I wouldn’t feel comfortable using my actual savings for this nonsense though. It’s more about fun than anything else. I guess this is probably how Elon Musk views Bitcoin.

Golden State Warriors team 2nd team trying to improve their game against the Pelicans.
It's just the 1st quarter but they are performing well. I guess because there is no pressure with this.
Their next game will tell though if they will still have this kind of performance while Curry and Green resting for a breather.
Stepping up their chemistry will be critical on that game against the Grizzlies.

Mavericks also trying to seal their position at 5th seed putting a big lead against the Raptors. Those who bet for high-rank seeds will have their way today.

Pelicans went into full tank mode as soon as they sidelined Zion for a broken finger.  I'm sure if they win another game this season the coach will be fired.  LOL

Last I looked at the standings they were one game ahead of the team below them and they seemed dead set on trading spots with them.

This is very sad for the Pelicans, they had some great games and I thought they will be in the playoffs this season but we know that this team is just all about Zion, without him, this team is nothing. They even lost against the Warriors when Curry and Green were resting, they are done this season.

Yes, the Zion injury was really big for them in this season, they are still in the contention. So they might as well regroup for next year and prepare. Good win by the Golden State, they are a slight underdog if I'm not mistaken, so I'm sure those who bet on them are very happy about the result even though Curry and Green are resting. Warriors now at 8th place.

The end of this game was crazy. The Pelicans had the win in their hands and then gave up 6 straight points in the last 30 seconds to lose against the Warriors bench. I wonder if the coach has to tell them to lose on purpose or if they all just know they have to blow the end of the game.  Cheesy

traders need to stop thinking that social drama = sustainable growth

social drama about bitcoin causes temporary price movements.
expect it. and expect it not to last
every drama caused spike will have a correction afterwords.. accept it

no drama event has ever caused a sustainable new bottomline.

This is true.  In the end Bitcoin is guided by math, not feelings.  As long as you take a macro trading view, this nonsense doesn't matter at all.  I am disappointed in Elon though.  He's pretty much making a mockery of crypto by pushing dogecoin and now acting like PoS is the way to go.  It's like watching a newbie discover Bitcoin, only he's got billions of dollars and millions of followers to play with.
8272  Economy / Collectibles / Re: NastyMining $10K+ / 100x Coin Bitcoin Collectible Giveaway! on: May 14, 2021, 09:12:26 PM
This is great ! It shows that NastyMining, NastyFans has a true community spirit. Thanks OgNasty and nonnakip for the time and effort you put in this Giveaway.

Thanks. I haven’t put in much time yet, but you can believe that engraving 100 coins along with whatever orders come in will have me sweating over an engraver for many hours in order to give so many coins away. Shipping them all will probably put a nice dent in my pockets as well, but I love NastyFans and am happy to do it for you all. With a bit of luck everything will go smoothly and maybe I can do more giveaways for members in the future.

^ See what I mean. This place breeds negativity now. You can’t even have a genuine opinion about wanting an impartial moderator without being attacked by miserable depressed users. It’s a top down problem and needs to be addressed by something other than empowering a merit circle to give these people power over who gets into the default trust network or adding more ways like flags to negatively attack other users. Just once I’d like to see a positive change here not focused on breeding more drama for clicks.

I think the Olympics committee should consider sourcing their silver medals from OGNasty! This thing is a beast and beautiful. Thank you sir! Trying to resist buying another!

Thanks for the kind words, the great pictures, and the urge to purchase more!  We'll be giving away 5 of these coins in our upcoming giveaway (along with 80 other minted seat coins).  You could always purchase an online seat from the auction at https://nastyfans.org and try your luck at winning yourself another one.

More info on the 100 Minted Seat Coin Giveaway here:

Thank you! Online seats purchased!

Good luck in the giveaway!

For those who might be unaware, we also have a twitter bot account that tweets when seats are purchased.  I think the recent BTC run has made it so we need to add another decimal to the price in order for it to be right, but the tweets with seat sales are there.  @NastyFansSeats on twitter if anyone was interested: https://twitter.com/nastyfansseats?lang=en
8275  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Treasuries on: May 14, 2021, 08:15:12 PM
Today news came out where one of the largest bitcoin holders, Square, refused to invest further in bitcoin.

The article is here:  Square has ‘no plans’ to buy more bitcoin

On the site https://bitcointreasuries.org Square takes 3rd position, it is noteworthy that only MicroStrategy inc. of this trinity continues to buy bitcoin, having recently bought 271 BTC:

MicroStrategy has purchased an additional 271 bitcoins for $15.0 million in cash at an average price of ~$55,387 per #bitcoin.  As of 5/13/2021, we #hodl ~91,850 bitcoins acquired for ~$2.241 billion at an average price of ~24,403 per bitcoin. $MSTR

Well, Tesla, which occupies the second position, has completely abandoned bitcoins so far: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1392602041025843203/photo/1

So large institutional investors are not yet particularly eager to get involved with bitcoin. Square also released its quarterly report:  https://s27.q4cdn.com/311240100/files/doc_financials/2021/q1/Q1-2021-Shareholder-Letter.pdf

Quote
The report says a loss of $20 million due to the May Bitcoin dump
.

In general, Square no longer wants to invest in bitcoin and cites the same reason Musk recently cited, which is the problem of excess power consumption.  Undecided

This is definitely a concern.  It seems like large companies wanted to benefit from the obviously inflating Bitcoin bubble, but they don't want to stick around to see it through.  They don't actually care about Bitcoin.  They just wanted some easy money and now they're ready to run before things start to get messy.  I think they see what most experienced Bitcoiners believe, we're going to see a massive bubble and then a massive correction.  They don't want to be accepting Bitcoin during that massive bubble, they want to cash out.  You can probably expect Elon to make up some nonsense or release some BS alternative energy mining product and then claim all is fine and Tesla will accept BTC again, as soon as the crash happens so he can score cheap BTC again...

If Elon cared about the environment and not money, Tesla would be a non-profit and they'd be giving away a few billion dollars worth of cars per year to get combustion engines off the road.  Instead, he's the richest man in the world.  Look at the facts and actions, not the rhetoric.
8276  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I fail in trading on: May 14, 2021, 08:10:46 PM
I’m a newbie in trading. I want to improve my trading skills. I have heard some experienced trader said that I should learn and read more before start, and also get some experience. Trading requires a lot of patience and hard work, learn about the way to analyze the price chart, when they can be able to analyze price chart they will know the best time to buy and sell and know which one is the best coin to trade…
I tried one but I falied. There is something I don’t know? Please tell me more.

Don't worry.  Almost all traders fail.  That's why people say to hodl.  Everyone has this dream of becoming rich when trading.  That is why when crypto bubbles every 4 years you see the most activity going into shitcoins.  It's because people all think they're the trader that's going to make a million bucks in a month, then they all lose everything when they realize there's no liquidity in their shitcoin to get out.

If you really want to learn to trade, first of all now isn't the time to be learning with crypto because markets are acting irrationally, but also you should learn the basics and set yourself up for reasonable expectations.  If you are trying to earn more than 10% per year trading, you don't have reasonable expectations and are going to just toss money at shit hoping some other fool pays more for your shit later.

Start at the beginning.  Use a site like caps.fool.com and get your expectations right, learn to value things, then you can start the multiyear process of building a portfolio that will be able to provide for you someday.  That, or buy the biggest piece of shit you can find and then look for the biggest fools on the internet, as that seems to be the trend in crypto today, and you never fight the trend .
8277  Other / Meta / Re: P&S moderator? on: May 14, 2021, 05:43:31 PM
Bitcoin Talk seems to have changed over the last couple of years. But then I think society has changed as well, so it could well be me that has a different perception. Covid and the imminent economic reset seems to have closed the minds of the population, and I guess thus is the result of fear mongering by governments and bankers. We are now in a strange world where you can't start a speech with the phrase "Good morning ladies and gentlemen", and a political forum is a real minefield today. I wouldn't want to moderate one, unless it could maintain a publicly admitted bias.

I'm drifting away from the forum, as many of my friends seen to have left, or only post on the tech boards. I used to gain pleasure from discussing the situations in various countries, but it seems that too many people are frightened to appear politically incorrect today. Well as a mature, heterosexual, white anglophile, I'm not PC, and I don't respect the mindless and slavish pursuit of public approbation. In the end, it is up ti the members here to post and start threads that make the political board an interesting one, The mods can't prune a bush into an attractive asset if the bush is dead.

This may be a bit off topic but I agree. This place seemed to go through some sort of transition around 2016 where I don’t know if guidance changed or just the community was inundated with spammers and get rich types, but I think a majority of the users still here after 8+ years are more here for nostalgia than anything else. The fact that some users are allowed to harass and spread lies here and that’s fine, but if you have a political opinion differing from a moderator or you are suspected of posting to inflate your post count you’re silenced seems a bit backwards. There was a point when this forum was moderated by rules like “no trolling” but those days are long behind us. While Bitcoin went from the Wild West to a regulated mess, the forum went from a well moderated place to build projects in a supportive environment to the Wild West and the user experience has suffered greatly.
8278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: May 14, 2021, 05:06:59 AM
With the Blazers loss tonight, the Lakers are now able to potentially skip the play-in tournament. Their next two games are against teams they should be able to beat, and the Blazers are playing Denver next. Granted Denver might take the night off to rest for the playoffs, but the stage is set for the Blazers to lose their next game while the Lakers win their last 2. That would put them in the 6th spot and keep them out of the play-in.
8279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 14, 2021, 04:47:06 AM
My pick.

Game: Portland vs Phoenix.

It's a must-win game by the Portland Blazers if they want to secure a playoff spot and avoid a play-in tournament.
Though they are in a back-to-back game, I believe they will put the same energy here as this game is very important.

Therefore my pick is Blazers +4.5.. GL everyone!

This season I'd tend to favor the Suns in close matchups but I agree with your thought process here.  Portland is pretty much in a must win situation to keep them from potentially trading spots with the Lakers and having to be in the play-in tournament.  On the flip side the Suns have been playing terrible lately.  I actually believe they're purposely not making their best effort in order to avoid injuries, as this post season is extremely important to them if they want to keep Devin Booker in a Suns uniform.

So I'd feel pretty safe following your bet.  On the flip side Phoenix might be sick of their losing streak and Portland might be exhausted with all the effort they've been putting in recently to win, so who's to say...

Looks like we were both wrong. The Suns snuck away with one tonight. Making the Lakers feel like they might have a chance to escape the play-in now. I’m feeling better about my home team now that they’ve shown they can beat a quality team that’s trying hard to beat them. Hopefully they keep this momentum alive heading into the post season.

I feel like this sort of thing is becoming more common over the years in professional sports. Before 20 years ago this sort of thing would have been unheard of. Shoeless Joe Jackson is still known 100 years later for pulling this sort of stunt. I’m not sure if there’s any way to stop this from happening. Even if they paid the players more the criminals would just target the officials. It’s a serious problem that undermines sports as well as gamblers.
