8281  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Do you think it is fair to save merits for low-ranked members? on: May 09, 2018, 09:52:06 PM
I don’t  get enough smerits to spend as often as I would like to. This has made me decide that I am only going to give merits to lower ranked members; I won’t give any for Legendary members and maybe not to Hero members either.

I think it is better due to scarcity to save them for people who have a long way to rank up rather than for those who are at the top already and get merits easily.

What do you think about? Do you do the same? Do you think it is fair?

You made a nice point, also put into consideration to merit only lower rank members that contributes positively to the community, that why we will avoid spamming post and the rest.

The merit system was introduced to take care of spamming post as users look for it to be ranked up while doing so they post only relevant post in order to be merited . Also kindly not, if a legendary member post something meaningful also consider meriting the post that way we share the merit round and make bitcointalk better and fair
8282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates: I would put against bitcoin on: May 09, 2018, 03:12:03 PM
American businessman Bill Gates again spoke out against the first crypto currency: in the Squawk Box program on CNBC, the co-founder of Microsoft called bitcoin one of the most speculative things in the world. This slightly tilted the course of the coin on Monday, May 7, but today it is still in the green zone.

"I would oppose bitcoin if there was an easy way to do this," said Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft Corporation in CNBC's Squawk Box, on Monday, May 7.

"As an asset class, you do not produce anything, and so you should not expect it to rise, it's a kind of pure investment" stupid theory, "Gates said in the CNBC program" Squawk Box. "

"Bitcoin and ICO, I believe, I believe, these are some of the crazy, speculative things," Gates said. He added that someone once gave him bitcoins for his birthday, but he sold it in a few years.

According to Gates, there is no need to count on the growth of bitcoin's value: "from the point of view of the asset class, you do not produce anything." The largest shareholder of Microsoft considers investing in this cryptonet "the theory of a bigger fool in its pure form."

She claims that money can be made by acquiring securities without regard for their quality and selling them at a profit, because there will always be a "bigger fool." Proceeding from the theory, speculative bubbles grow in this way, which burst with time and bring down the value of shares in a mass sale.

Note that earlier Gates accused the BTC of the death of people, pointing out that the coin is often used to buy drugs. In November 2014, the businessman called bitcoin "a revolutionary technology and the most innovative solution in the modern Internet payment market."

Like many critics of crypto currency, Gates acknowledged that the basic technology of blockchain has its advantages. Blocking eliminates the need for a third-party intermediary, such as a bank, to quickly create a secure, permanent report on the transaction between the two parties. Bitcoin is the first application of blocking technology, and companies are exploring ways to use technology to manage supply chains, trade and other areas.

He has been positive about bitcoin, then negative, then positive again, now he is negative again. What's this guy's deal?

If you ask for my opinion i will suggest we don't listen to this FUD creators. They are after their own earn.  They see BItcoin as a major competitor so definitely they'll search for means to disapprove it's credibility.
8283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are the common challenges for bitcoin user? on: May 09, 2018, 02:59:42 PM
For me I think the major challenge is the volatility.  I mean people are afraid of losing their capitals due to dips BItcoin experience rapidly without warning. Just imagine a drip from 20k to 6k in matter of months. If this can be reduced I think BItcoin will be a major player when it comes to currencies and asset
8284  Economy / Speculation / Re: what affects the price? on: May 08, 2018, 02:33:18 PM
Mostly the news and people emotions.
FOMO and FUD affects the price greatly
But don't forget the Whales controlling and manipulating the market. They create Pump and Dump, especially in small Alts market.

The above user have said it all.

But if you were following the market you will notice it's recovering beside what do you expect after a major pump from 3k last year to 20k? A big correction that's the answer. So definitely it was just a correction and also the ban news played a key role in dipping of price.
8285  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin & College students . on: May 08, 2018, 02:29:31 PM
Yes I do I bought 100000nlx coin few months back I'm planning on holding onto it for atleast $20 per coin then sell 50000 and look for other altcoins with potential to buy during that time of sell.

I plan on starting my very own cryptoinstitution in my country Nigeria. We're backwards when it comes to Cryptocurrency I plan on educating others for free just as I was educated. Also planing developing a token to back my institution
8286  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I stop panic selling cryptocurrency? on: May 08, 2018, 01:50:23 PM
I struggle emotional with trading Cryptocurrency, I noticed that while I was engaging myself in day to day trading. I once had 1000Neo but sold during the China ban news ($13) per coin and I regretted the day I saw 1neo for $120 that was the day I decided to be a token HODLER and trade coins only when necessary. True HODLING pays and I'm just praying my emotions don't make me miss lambo again
8287  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen when 1 satoshi is $ 1? on: May 08, 2018, 01:39:15 PM
I don't think BItcoin will ever cross $100k value. I mean just imagine what you explained above, truly that will end bitcoin for good.  I see Cryptocurrency as a means of circulating money among  investors. Correction will endure BItcoin dont become too costly for new investors to jump in
8288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that other coins move faster? on: May 08, 2018, 01:31:04 PM
Do you think that Bitcoin has become too slow to compete with the relatively quick alt coins out there? Is it realty competitive to have a slow community rather than a centralised decision making in development?

In other words, does the community effect of decentralisation enough to counterbalance the difficult decision making processes?

No the best coin and king of coins non other that bitcoin no one or other coins can win to bitcoin

I disagree with this. Although BItcoin is more popular and widely used, altcoins are getting recognitions too.  Gone are the days BItcoin gave the highest ROI nowadays altcoins are giving higher ROI especially the ICO.

Yes dear I don't just think, I believe other coins move faster than bitcoin

8290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you involved in Cryptocurrency on: May 01, 2018, 10:35:37 AM
Saw an article once that those who heard about internet in the late 90's and refused to invest in it are now regretting. Guess what I don't want to be among the Blockchain regreters. I believe the Blockchain is gonna disrupt this world economy  and definitely Cryptocurrency is gonna be the major beneficiaries for down so I got involved in Cryptocurrency to be among those who can do what others can't in future because i did what others won't right now and that's investing in Cryptocurrency.

In addition I was looking for a better means of earning some few bucks. I mean who doesn't love the idea of sitting at home and earning some really money while doing nothing?
8291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin vs. real money??? on: May 01, 2018, 10:31:46 AM
Bitcoin Vs real Money. Just like how online shopping have not totally eliminate physical shopping I don't think BItcoin will ever eliminate Real money.  I prefer to see BItcoin as an asset instead of currency.  If this will ever happen it's gonna take some few centuries like 20+
8292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Green days are coming for bitcoin on: May 01, 2018, 10:13:44 AM
I have gathered informations about bitcoin that might interest you and what’s going on in the other side of the market
Let’s see.

The bitcoin price is now up by approximately eight percent since the beginning of the week. At press time, the currency is trading for over $8,800, and $9,000 by Monday seems like a done deal granted bitcoin can keep up its current momentum.

Frank Cappelleri – executive director of institutional equities at Nomura Instinet – predicts that the currency is slated to go much higher, and will likely strike $9,173 in the coming days.

In addition, over 60 percent of analysts – according to a poll conducted by Tom Lee – feel that bitcoin could break $12,000 by the time summer rolls along.

“Large hedge funds have entered with deep pockets and strong hands,” says John Spallanzani, a portfolio manager at Miller Value Partners. “All positive signs.”

With all of these positive signs we can expect a good market gesture in the coming days.

And yet mining is once again looking profitable!

itis a good news, I am very happy to hear that. the market is recovering slowly. The price will rise soon. I believe that.
And our waiting for is likely to happen, the price will continue to rise although it looks slow, and I'm happy after more than 3 weeks the price does not drop below $ 9000, I'm sure the year-end price will reach $ 45k so keep buying is a good and profitable thing.

May, June is definitely going to be a bull season but I predict a minor correction in July. For the predictions mentioned above, I give it a seconded.

Mining BItcoin is profitable that's great news hope this will increase the minutes it take for confirmation.

8294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Do You Cashout BitCoins? on: April 29, 2018, 10:03:28 AM
I cash out BItcoin through my local exchanger LUNO it buys BItcoin from me and deposit my local currency to my bank account within 3business days.  I'm also a verified seller on many exchangers so I cash out through that means also that's if I'm in need of some cash urgently
8295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing to Bitcoin is not that easy on: April 29, 2018, 09:59:29 AM
I don't think investing in BItcoin is not easy. I found it very easy because I was determined to succeed so if I'm asked I will say it's all about the mindset I mean you don't need to be a guru to understand buying and hodling or selling.  Everything is well explain on most exchanger
8296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs altcoins? on: April 29, 2018, 09:48:05 AM
Hi guys , what do you most prefer , holding bitcoins or buying altcoins which is have a good technology and for long term investment ?. I'm a little bit doubtful  where should i stand on . I'm not rich enough to buy and hold this coins at the same time. However I'm trying to figure out which of the  two much better . bitcoins have a old technology in blockhain compare to altcoins now which is they are more advanced but the prices  varies so  what your insight about this ?

Here is the fact that must investors don't know. When you own bitcoin you only make profits on bitcoin value. If you own 1 BItcoin for 5years you will still have 1 bitcoin but with altcoins you make profits on bitcoin and it's value. For example let's say 20 Ethereum gives you 1 BItcoin then you hold your 20ETH for  1-3years now 1 BItcoin = 5 ETH that's means you now own 4bitcoin. So definitely altcoins are better although you need to diversify your investment I say  70% on altcoins 30% on bitcoin.
8297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is better than gold on: April 29, 2018, 09:37:59 AM
Gold is like land-line or let's say post letters while BItcoin is like smart phones or emails. You get the difference? Gold is old school and so yesterday BItcoin is the future and that the rocket I wanna be in.  The decentralized functions of BItcoin and its unique features as an asset and currency it's what's gonna make BItcoin the king over gold and don't forget it is digitized
8298  Other / Off-topic / Re: Give a man a fish or teach him how to fish on: April 29, 2018, 09:31:27 AM
The quote above is true,  remember not all have access to various information must of this bloggers and youtubers have I mean the legitimate ones not the predictors. I also have a quote "Take advice form mentors not advisers ] advicer usually don't have experience but mentors do.  Like the BItcoincash and bitcoingold case, it was advice I thought from my mentors that gave me my success so the whole issue rest on information. When you're informed you can't be deformed. As a newbie you can rely on them while you develop yourself.

8300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: future of Bitcoin In this world? on: April 29, 2018, 08:47:15 AM
I believe in BItcoin because the world is getting decentralized. The government refused to accept it because 1, they're afraid of it.  2, it's too volatile at this early stage and can easily be manipulated. E.g the China, social media ban news that reduced the price to nearly $3000- . This is also why I'm investing in it. High risk gives high reward only when you have the three E 's of investing (Education, Experience and Excess cash)  but in Cryptocurrency I will say "spare money."
