8282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: April 17, 2019, 01:32:58 PM

It's basically that with the latest firmwares from Bitmain, the lack of SSH results in that their miners always run in Restricted API mode. That limits the control from any application that want to remote manage Antminers, not only Awesome Miner. Bitmain is basically limiting the features of the miners by doing this.

Although I'm trying to get Bitmain to implement a new way to enable Privileged API access, my main point above was that all users of Antminer products should give their feedback to Bitmain about privileged API access. Bitmain must understand that they have removed a feature making it very difficult to manage their miners, and hopefully there will be enough users providing them with this feedback.

It would of course be great if they re-enabled SSH access, but if that isn't an option, making it possible to enable Privileged API access via the Antminer web interface would be one way forward.

oh, I understand that and it is not your fault or something you have control of. But without it, my money is wasted paying for something that I cannot fully utilize. And I paid for a full year of cloud services Sad so, I hope it is something that Bitmain will soon address.

what is considered a large pool? over 100 ph? over 200 ph? I think the bigger benefit to a semi large pool is the reduced ramp up - when it is 45-60 days that might discourage some from joining as that can be a long time to wait for a full reward. maybe where the pool size is large enough to have ramp up around 15 days or so might be nice. My new miner - the T15 has been ramping up since march 25th so around 3 weeks and it is only around 3/4 of the way to being ramped up. I think it has at least another 15 to 20 days to go.
8284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: April 17, 2019, 01:00:33 AM

Your observation is correct, it looks like Bitmain start to lock down their ASIC miners more with the recent firmware upgrades.

With SSH access disabled, Awesome Miner cannot connect and reconfigure the API access. This is the reason for the "Connection failure".

Update:
I've previously had a short conversation with Bitmain regarding the disabled SSH on Antminer S15, but it has not yet resulted in any solution being provided. I've reached out to them again on this topic to ask for a way to enable Privileged API access. Even if the SSH access still will be disabled, I would like to see the API setting being configurable in the web interface for the Antminer as an alternative solution.

well this pretty much sucks and makes AM useless for me and makes the money I paid for the program and for the web services wasted - I had monitoring of miners via the pools apps - I need to be able to control the miners as well and now that cannot be done.

we need some big mining farms to jump on board. or a crap ton of people in the 50 to 200 TH/s range would be nice as well.
Well, 100 more 100TH miners would only be 10PH... I don't even know if I'd consider that a 'whale' in today's hashpower race.

i would not consider it a whale either but I also do not consider 100 people to be a crap ton, I was thinking like 1000 people lol so we could get over 100 PH at least lol

They are all scams, I have no interest in being involved with scams, though many miners seem to have no problem with that.
They're mostly built on the idea of pump and dump.
Leave the suckers who stay around with the worthless results of the coin.
Not my interest to be involved in that sorta shit.

you pretty much said anyone who stays with the coin is a sucker above - I have several alt coins - of which, none of them have lost me more than BTC has Smiley some of which I have held on to for quite some time.

I guess my point is this - you are pretty much a total dick to anyone/everyone that mentions anything that is not your own doing or something you promote. There was no need to bash anyone or anything in the replies, but I guess it is your thread so you can do so.

If you were around when the altcoins started in 2011, then you should WELL know that they are all based on getting as much money as possible from everyone involved to the scamcoin creator and leaving the majority high and dry with a loss.

I clearly called the suckers those who are left high and dry with scam coins worth nothing.
That's what most altcoin miners consider OK.

Bitcoin was created to build "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" without needing to trust 3rd parties/ financial institutions.
Thus it clearly has value in doing that and does that.

Altcoins were created in general to make the creator money out of nothing by copying the BTC idea ... as so many of the MANY hundreds of altcoins clearly have shown.

I was and yes some are but not all are scamcoins - and just because you say they all are - does not make it so.

you said anyone holding them - not just the ones left high and dry - clearly.

no one argued the validity of Bitcoin.

Not all of them are "out of nothing" and yes many of them have - but not all....

simply by saying many of them and not all of them, you contradict even yourself.

alas - I know many people like you. You are right, if you are wrong then we need to remember that you are right - always right. There is no way to ever have you believe you are wrong about anything. Thus, I will be quiet before I get banned off the pool.

Altcoins, I'll have nothing to do with, they're all scams.

ouch man you are always so harsh on anything and everything that is not your pool and not BTC - I love your pool but damn you need some cheering up or something Smiley
You clearly were not part of BTC when they started.
I've had this stance LONG before I ran a pool.
I was involved in the forum for over 3 years before I started the pool.

They are all scams, I have no interest in being involved with scams, though many miners seem to have no problem with that.

been mining since 2009, your opinion is yours to have though. but shouldnt call all the rest of us suckers just because we dont share your view. i have made a lot off of alt coins as i have BTC. but as always when someone doesnt share your view, you jump to assumptions that they either one are noobs or idiots. But I best be quiet now or you may just kick me off your pool and my ramp up will be lost, I cant have that now Smiley I will agree I have seen many coins come/go with the pump and dump behavior but I believe many of them are trying to have legitimate uses for the blockchain but some succeed and some fail. again, I just find it narrow minded to claim we ARE ALL suckers/idiots just because we use something that even dares have anything to do with altcoins.

FYI I think someone mentioned the newest S9 firmware disables SSH, which renders Awesome Miner useless, but this may need confirmed by someone else since I'm Canaan-only.

dunno, I have zero issues with my S9's outside of every few updates of AM I have to completely uninstall it and do a fresh install as it begins to loose connection which requires me to connect directly to the miners and do a reboot.

what I do now is every 5 or 6 updates of AM, I just uninstall it. I also now only run it when I am not on site - so far that seems to have stopped the issue of where the software looses API connection to my miners.

It only ever looses connection to my miners that are on Kano, never to the ones on other pools - not sure why that even matters though - I have swapped out miners to see if it is the miner but it is only ones on kano's pool that AM has issues with.
8293  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 14, 2019, 04:15:16 AM
By any chance, do you already have an S15 ducting adapter 3D design done? I would be very interested on it Roll Eyes

still testing it - I was making one that would fit the s15/t15/s11 based on the 4 screws that hold the back mesh on, but once I saw the S17 versions, I realized that would require two different designs if I use the screws that hold the back mesh on vs the ones that have the fans on the back (S17 versions) so I did some more research - took the front fans off of a T15 and saw that it just screws directly into the mesh --- so, long story short - if I make one that will fit the S17 versions, it should also fit all the ones without back fans because it would simply screw in where the fans would if they were there... at least that is my assumption, so I am working on making the new design and will test it on a T15 by fitting it to both the fans on front and to the mesh on the back.

I will share results as soon as I have it done. if it is required that two designs are necessary then I will get both done - but the hope is that one will fit both scenarios.

there is also awesome miner - I use it to monitor all 20 of my miners regardless of what pool they are on, but I think that has to be enabled at site where miners are and if you are remote then you need their web services. The iPhone app for kano/ck pool works great for notifying me when/if my miners go offline or start declining in hash rate but it does not offer any control over the miners as it is from pool side not miner side of course.

8295  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: selling Bitmain Miners S9/S9i on: April 12, 2019, 07:23:09 PM
I believe you have to put it in like this "DefaultTrust". I removed it from my list in an effort to create my own custom trust list and expand on it as I see fit as I review feedback pages. It will still serve you well, just remember to check all ratings and references.

I only recently removed it, as the DT network has grown insanely large and there were to many users that I din't agree with their feedback standards. Not so much to exclude them all. I trust my judgement enough to build and tweak my list.

Good luck.

yes - DefaultTrust is correct I had it as Default Trust - the space was screwing me up.

i get that but what is the point of having the trust number appear one way to you but appear a different way to others? or can others also see the total but see the separation of the two as well?
8296  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: selling Bitmain Miners S9/S9i on: April 12, 2019, 02:41:48 PM
Yes you would have to list everybody individually; this again would only show you all feedback and a trust score calculated based on that. I wouldn't recommend doing this though, it defeats the purpose of the system for yourself. Doing this also would lead people to question your judgement in managing your trust network; not really an issue unless you wind up on DT through voting at some point.

That is unless you trust the way these people leave all of their feedback, or who they have included in their own trust lists. If you do go this route I would suggest that you leave "Default trust" in your list until you have time to build a larger custom trust list. Otherwise you will be flying blind in regards to other peoples feedback unless you take the time to review their untrusted feedback.

Either way thought is your list and you can manage it to suit your needs. Just know it's not necessary to make those changes. Also as long as when you leave feedback for a trade, with a good reference that helps people even if the other party doesn't leave feedback. Personally I check untrusted feedback at the same time as trusted anytime I'm going to deal with someone.

Good luck. Hope that all makes sense

It wont let me put "Default Trust" in the list I add it and hit save and it removes it. personally, I want to see all of them - especially if other people can see it - makes zero sense to filter any of them out to me.
8297  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 12, 2019, 11:58:03 AM
They are out of stock Sad

Any approximation when their next batch will be available?

the first run was about 14 minutes before they sold out the second one was just the next day and lasted most the day but was out of stock by the next morning.
8298  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: selling Bitmain Miners S9/S9i on: April 12, 2019, 11:57:10 AM
That would only change how someone would see their own trust score.

No one can control how others see the feedback others have left them. The tilde only excludes that persons feedback from showing for you, not others viewing your profile.

oh ok good. was about to say that would defeat the purpose if they could remove anyone they want.

what do I put there if I want to see all feedback people leave me? I have to list everyone individually?
8299  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: selling Bitmain Miners S9/S9i on: April 12, 2019, 04:08:05 AM
Sounds good.

Just a heads up that by including them in your trust list, their feedback only affects how you see your trust score.

The idea of including them in your trust list means you trust the feedback readings they leave in general. The only feedback that shows to everyone by default is left by DT1 or DT2. Unless users remove "default trust" from their trust list.

There are some threads in meta that cover trust in greater detail.

wait - if someone who has really bad trust could simply have default trust in their trust list and no ones name and all the negative feedback would be gone? or do that tilde thing and omit any negative feedback from any person that they want?
8300  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: selling Bitmain Miners S9/S9i/S9j on: April 12, 2019, 01:15:51 AM
awesome! thanks for the purchase - if possible please give positive trust - I see zero still Smiley

They left you feedback. You need to look under your untrusted feedback to see it as they are not a DT member, or they are not within your custom trust network.

Good luck with the rest of your sales.

I see the feed back and yes it is in "untrusted" and in going thru it, I saw how to add him so that the trust rating would show - thanks!
