8321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: African bitcoin ATMs on: July 29, 2020, 07:15:23 PM
Wow! So, South Africa leads the pack? I was thinking either Kenya or Nigeria.
I too was surprised, but in term of trading volume, Nigeria has the largest. But, more bitcoin ATMs will be installed in Nigeria. About Kenya, it is clear that South Africa has a higher trading volume. South Africa has the highest number of bitcoin ATMs and the first was installed as far back in 2014.

kinda makes me believe that they sliped into bad habits
Very possible, it could be bad habit that cause it. If found early in gingivitis stage, only scaling (plaque removing) and rooting (smoothing) that makes the gum reattach to the teeth is a good option, it can even be effective against early stage of periodontitis.

And at any stage it is, I think seeing a dentist could help, it is treatable.

In addition to the disease, if not taking care of by scaling and rooting after noticing receding gum, no amount of brushing can heal the disease. That is why dentist intervention is needed.
8326  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: African bitcointalk community hangout on: July 28, 2020, 07:42:50 PM
But where the BTC ATM dey for Naija? Lagos or Abj?
Yes, @nelson4lov dey correct. I got included all details in the thread.

who see wetin that my darling Curio do a few hours ago?
Curio makes sense, since yesterday when he got to $1, the coin dey drop to $0.8 back to $1, that name good profit. But I dey fear because curio drop na big loss but it mainly $1 price.

About the minimum amount to hold to participate for staking, I believe say them go reduce am prior to the release and if them no release am, staking pools were go dey to cater for people wey no get up to the minimum.
I believe that, possibly staking pool go result.
8327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: exires after? on: July 28, 2020, 02:58:17 PM
have been read many times that addresse dont  expire so you can send to old add even 6 years later.. is this correct?

but why does it have this "expires after" choice? what does it do?
I will like to add, just know that bitcoin addresses can not expire, so far you have your wallet active and you are able to access your wallet, you can use the address you have used 10 years ago. Even, if you lose your wallet, the address will not expire and you will be able to still use the address ones you can access it.

That aside, for privacy reasons, it is not good to reuse the same address for every transaction so your wallet balance can not be tracked or traced to a single address.

Also about this link

 https://ibb.co/Jy9bHLQ

Do not get it wrong, it means you want to send bitcoin to another address, that the transaction should expire with the time you chose, there are some wallet that reverse back your bitcoin into your wallet if the transaction is never successful with the time taken.
8328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to calculate bitcoin segwit transaction fee and some other questions. on: July 28, 2020, 02:41:52 PM
2. You have answer in the above linked article. You can further check with this website- https://coinb.in/#fees
You can use that site to get transaction size from your input details:
- Transaction types: Regular, Segwit, Multisig. It means for legacy, segwit, or multisig transactions
- Number of inputs, outputs
Or you can use that another site: https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/fee-calculator/ and don't forget to check Johoe's site as well
Okay, nicely replied. I really now understood what you people commented, I do not have problem with the transaction size but with normal segwit transactions that included transaction weight. I see your link also very useful.
8329  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin recovery services trap - AVOID on: July 28, 2020, 02:31:03 PM
Normally, a good wallet provider or exchanges may have it written in their terms to be able to recover bitcoin sent to wrong addresses, but they are truthful to the fact that low amount of bitcoin can not be refunded, only amount that worth 1 bitcoin or more can be recovered or something, and out of the total bitcoin, it can be only 40% that can be recovered. That said, on many such wallet, exchanges and noncustodial wallets, this can not even be possible, ones the bitcoin is propagated in the network and have confirmation and mined, that is all and can not be recovered.

Any site, be it recovery service or not that ask someone to pay certain amount of bitcoin to get back your funds or for airdrop collection or the likes are actually scams.

You have said it all, the people are so ignorant to be a fool, although, not their fault but lack of knowledge. Some fall victim also because of greediness and hoping for something not real, and not even patient.

My people, I dey always cool to dey around you, I wan ask your opinions about something.

In the local board, I wan great two similar topics

1. Crypto ATMs in Africa
2. Crypto ATMs in Nigeria

For now, na one dey Nigeria, and seem like not to create a thread of such for Nigeria, but I dey also think, the earlier the better if we dey talk details about it from scratch now. Nigeria support crypto and possible the number of ATMs will increase.

Should I create a thread for only crypto ATMs in Africa, or, creat for Nigeria too.

@ CryptopreneurBrainboss, Upgrade00, nelson4lov, Mpamaegbu, BIT-BENDER and all of us, I will like your opinions.

People must learn how to detect scams, and sadly the only way they learn is by getting scammed.
Getting scammed could be one of the ways to teach people not to get scammed again but some people can still be scammed after ones be scammed. The only best way to avoid scam is to read about scam, ways to hack wallets and also how to avoid. Knowledge and wisdom about scam is the best teacher. Like me, I have not been scammed before and I do no think I would be scammed at all just I learned a lot about scam and how to avoid which is the best in avoiding scam.

The biggest update na say ETH go change from POW mining algorithm to staking.
The PoS that will be adopted by ethereum platform dey somehow centralized, people having less than 34 ether only hold, the reward dey for those wey hold 34 ether or more.

Although, gain go dey there, many people will buy ether not knowing how the reward thing dey work but this go increase ether price and very possible ether could be driven to $500 in price or more presumably.
8334  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bitcoin a currency or but also a money on: July 27, 2020, 08:18:52 PM
The Quora answer may not be very accurate. If it is, then here comes the big question: if currency doesn't have a consistent value, then which one is changing value: USD or BTC? Smiley Because if you take it the other way, 1 BTC will be equal to a constantly changing amount of USD and vice-versa.
Both USD and bitcoin has no consistent value and are both currencies, they also both money because they both have intrinsic value which makes people demand for both.
8335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A trap of how newbies get scammed on: July 27, 2020, 08:08:27 PM
1. No value of 0.06 welcome bonus
2. You will be forced to make a deposit to withdraw the fund.
3. You can not withdraw it
4. You can not get any bonus when you make a deposit
5. You can not withdraw you deposit fund.
6. You will lose you invested money and your valuable times.
I saw an airdrop, it was through a channel on telegram, I joined and promised to pay $45 freely, out of $45, I collected $25. When I wanted to withdraw the coin that worth $25, I was unable to, they said only vip that pay certain amount in ether that worth $5 would get the the coin for now that the free trade will be 2 weeks after. I have noticed it was a scam airdrop but waited the 2 weeks, no coin receive, it was actually fake and scam and those that pay the vip fee lost their ether for sure.

My people, shey una don see Bitcoin for him true form – A beast. I also hope say una no own altcoins at this time because na bloodbath since yesterday. See ARPA don drop below 200 sats for this first time in the last 2 months. Even Cartesi dey take severe beatings. If una wan buy, abeg just chill small make bitcoin relax small coz like this, e fot reach $12K before e retrace and e no go look funny for altcoins.
You adey right, I bought Zilliqa today and losing $20 already, most altcoin no dey move up but there were some that increase, but dey few.

Curio dey $0.28 some days ago but as at yesterday it was $0.48 but risen to $1 today. It really rose.  But, I think it is now time to only cash out because the coin can later dump.

Ether, litecoin are still altcoins, ether dey really show good sign to even still rise more if bitcoin is rising. Lately, ether even rose than bitcoin. I don noticed the fact say the two coins (bitcoin and ether) are showing good sign. Like me, I am waiting to see bitcoin brake the $11000 resistance as its price now is over $10700.

Most altcoin are not moving up, and I valid your advice.
8337  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bitcoin a currency or but also a money on: July 27, 2020, 09:34:30 AM
Imo fiat is a type of currency and currency is a type of money...

I think bitcoin fits somewhere between currency and money because a lot of currencies generally have the qualification of being divisible and bitcoin has that whereas realistically gold and silver don't.
You are right, even gold can be referred to as currency, bitcoin is also currency, although bitcoin has intrinsic value but its price is still volatile and can be regarded as a currency, I am not disputing this fact. But I want people to realize that bitcoin is also money.
8338  Other / Beginners & Help / Is bitcoin a currency or but also a money on: July 27, 2020, 09:15:17 AM
I have been reading about the differences between money and currencies, even I have not seen anyone referring bitcoin as money but only as currency. I read about the difference on many site. Check the quotes below:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_money
Quote
Money may take a physical form as in coins and notes, or may exist as a written or electronic account. It may have intrinsic value (commodity money), be legally exchangeable for something with intrinsic value (representative money), or only have nominal value (fiat money).

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-currency-and-money
Quote
Gold Silver explains that the most significant difference between money and currency is that currency does not have consistent value. Currency is used as a physical representation of value that changes over time and varies from one country to the next. According to the Gold Silver website, gold and silver are the only items that have served as money and represented fixed value throughout human history.

https://quickonomics.com/different-types-of-money/
Quote
Commodity money is the simplest and, most likely, the oldest type of money. It builds on scarce natural resources that act as a medium of exchange, store of value, and unit of account. Commodity money is closely related to (and originates from) a barter system, where goods and services are directly exchanged for other goods and services. Commodity money facilitates this process because it acts as a generally accepted medium of exchange. The critical thing to note about commodity money is that its value is defined by the intrinsic value of the commodity itself. In other words, the commodity itself becomes money. Examples of commodity money include gold coins, beads, shells, spices, etc.

https://medium.com/@goldma/currency-vs-money-did-you-know-theres-a-difference-f344aa496867
Quote
The one major difference between currency and money that many are not conscious of, is the store of value. Currency is not a store of value, in fact, it can even go to zero because of extreme circumstances. It is also volatile because it has no intrinsic value. Money, on the other hand, is a store of value. Gold (which is money) has always been a consistent store of value. Even when the world financial markets become unpredictable, investors turn to gold because it is less risky and more secure.

From all quoted links above, it is evident that bitcoin is actually money, I still have other links that proved this but did not included it because I want this topic to be easily readable.

Gold, silver and and the likes are money which has been existing and have intrinsic value. Like I have mentioned, money can not be seen, only currencies can be seen and the intrinsic value of gold is its value in the world that is influenced by its demands and its price.

What about bitcoin? I will like you opinion on this but as for me, bitcoin itself is completely money because it is also a safe haven like gold, currencies can be seen physically but what makes the currencies money is the value they possess, this makes me conclude that bitcoin is money, bitcoin have such value and a safe haven people turned during economy inflation.

Money are not subjected to governmental manipulations but currencies do, the price of bitcoin is not regulated by any central body or the governments it is regulated by people that buy and sell it in the world and this makes it to have value like gold and the likes by having the same value all over the world not from country to country. So, bitcoin is money and will be referred to as money during its races to recognition.
