843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why reputation is essential on the free market on: October 15, 2020, 03:48:26 AM
Even when someone has built a good reputation you shouldn't become complacent. If there are options to protect yourself then take them, even if they're a little more hassle and expense.

There've been quite a few 'trusted' accounts that were either building a long con or lost their mind and screwed people. And it's surprising how tiny the amounts often are that people are willing to throw away their account over.
This is correct some people might change when it comes to money, i have seen people disaappear after taking cash from a person
we must take an extra precaution when making transaction, im not saying don't trust someone, but making extra effort to look
on his/her last transactions record will do to make sure we are safe from scam, specially during this pandemic, that people really need
money.

847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Belgian investors lost $12M to crypto & forex scams last year by clicking on ads on: October 13, 2020, 02:16:13 AM
it has been the tactics over and over , by this people, from email links, to advertisement
I think the main reason why those people are scam is because of their curiosity and the
intension to earn in minutes, as far as we know ads and links showing the fastest way
to earn, this is very effected , that is why this scammers is taking advantage of it, if you
are not checking or reading, emails or links , and to check if its legit or not, then you are
also a victim, this tells us that reading , news and learning something in the web is very
important, i have encounter a lot of this scams , but i make sure i double check everything
before clicking , like in the saying, think before you click.

851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sites that have no TLS and SSL certificates. on: October 09, 2020, 09:18:41 AM
I have noticed some sites do not have TLS and SSL certificate, instead of the site to be https, it will be http. The sites are said to not be secure, we should not click on such sites. But I want to know more about it with this question. I will like your answers.

On the browser I used, I saw a padlock closed for the sites that are secure (https sites), I clicked on the padlock, and it states Connection is secure.Your information (for example, passwords, credit card numbers) is private when it is sent to this site

I want to know if I click on http (non secure sites), if I do not share my password or any information that can get me in trouble on the http sites, can the unsecure site access my files on my device?

This is just to know more about secure and unsecure sites using TLS and SSL certificate as the security. Also know that sites that are secure can have attackers, that only the connection is secure not the site itself. But unsecure (http) connections are deadly, they can be set up by attackers to steal from people.

TLS SSL , this secures the connection so that others wont able to see, more like encrypted that only the reciever and sender can see the message
so that it won't leak in the internet, if you don't have this you may be hack , if you are sending critical information specially bank codes, keys , password
although it doesnt mean you are 100% secure but you're sure , its only you and the sender knows your transaction being done

854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [BEWARE] Fake/Scam Youtube Ad Ethereum Giveaways on: October 06, 2020, 03:34:01 AM
There are lots of accounts in YouTube who can gather a lot of subscribers in a minute or hours due to some of the tactics like creating an airdrop
that one of the requirements are subscribing to a channel, and turnout to be a fake giveaways, in the end they will be asking small amount of money
and disappear after they have gather everything, thank you for informing us regarding this kind of scheme.

857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the best ways of introducing someone to bitcoin ? on: October 04, 2020, 04:40:38 AM
Hello,

I was thinking and wondering of different ways to introduce my family, friends and colleagues to bitcoin and I tried to convince them, but couldn't pitch in perfectly to get them going.

Things I tried
  • Showed them the current value of BTC pegged to fiat, which did get thier attention for a while.
  • Told them about how it all started, how the community adopted the use of BTC and how it all boomed.
  • Showed them my wallets : how easy and fast it is to send and recieve to almost anywhere in the world as long as there is an internet connection.
  • Introduced them to a few exchanges to show how easy it is to buy or sell whenever they want to.
  • Told and proved to them how secure and anonymous a transaction is and how fast it can be for cross border transactions compared to other financial institutions.

Well, I pretty much tried to do everything I could. Now after they listened to all that I said, watched everything as that I showed to them as a demo, they did thier own research. They started shooting a few questions like
  • See how often the price drops, this could be a bubble
  • See Google tells crypto currency is used in black market to keep anonymity and make illegal trasactions
  • See these types of currencies are used for the purpose of gambling to be in disguise

So basically, what I am looking for as an answer is, an approach that can be used in order to gain interest of people, stating all the good things and the bad things about BTC in a manner that a "noob" can understand and try to think, yes this is already beneficial to others, why not I try it too ?

All suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you

My approach is a bit simple in introducing them
first i look for someone who will really have interest on bitcoin or crypto
then i tried to dig in on what are your investments or how you spend your money?
Also giving examples bank vs bitcoin when it comes to interest
and how easy it is to have a wallet, this are just the things or way that i do.
858  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Naniniwala ba kayo dito? on: October 03, 2020, 01:23:52 PM
More than half of all crypto exchanges have weak or no ID verification

Quote
More than half of all exchanges worldwide have weak KYC identification protocols — with exchanges in Europe, the U.S. and U.K. among the worst offenders, according to a new study by blockchain analysis firm CipherTrace

859  Other / Beginners & Help / Ask me how , How Scam tatics on: October 03, 2020, 10:37:07 AM
Have you ever heard of this scam or read, in most post saying in a year they have earn a lot, and let you comment How, and they will tell you how to earn like they do?
They will ask you for information,
Things that they may asked:
1. wallet address
2. keys
3. codes
4. or they might force to ask emails , pretending that they will just do something to help you
5. links that might steal critical information for cards and bank accounts

This is happening local and abroad because of the current situation that we are in especially with the pandemic where in some are desperate to earn
money for their family so be very careful, if you encounter this kind of tactics or scheme just blocked or ignore them.
This is to help newcomers avoid being scam.
I hope this helps.
