841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Affordable 6 GPU Mining Rig: Monero on: December 25, 2017, 11:48:43 AM
Cryptonight mining doesn't heat up the cards as much as other algorithms like Equihash. With a six card rig you shouldn't need additional cooling if you have a room with good ventilation. If it's in a closet or other small space, you may need to run some box fans to increase the air circulation.
842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Affordable 6 GPU Mining Rig: Monero on: December 25, 2017, 11:35:08 AM
The best hash/cost average for XMR will be with used HD 7XXX cards, especially if you have cheap power costs. The cards for a six card rig should be $400> and get 3000+ H/s on XMR. I get ~515 H/s @ 105 W on XMR with a Powercolor HD 7850 and ~195 H/s on ZEC for ~140 W with the AMD blockchain drivers.

843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Best PCI risers on: December 24, 2017, 04:10:52 PM
I can say from my experience, as long as you go with 6-pin PCI-E risers, you shouldn't have a problem. The ver 006C  have a good build quality with four capacitors and a voltage regulator. I have 20+ 6-pin PCI-E risers ver 006C that were bought from different sources and have been in use 24/7 from early this year. I haven't had any issues other than the soldering on the x1 PCI-E connectors needs to be filed down and covered with electrical tape so that it doesn't short out with boards like the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ that have the PCI-E slots too close together.

If you are willing to wait about 3 weeks, suppliers from China on Aliexpress and eBay will have the best pricing. I'm currently waiting on a batch of the new improved ver 008C 6-pin PCI-E risers that claim a reduced power consumption vs the 006C version. I have ordered from this supplier before and have not had any problems.

844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Flashing Sapphire RX580 8GB Nitro+ MICRON Memory on: December 24, 2017, 01:26:29 AM
You need to use the blockchain drivers or with the latest 17.1x.x drivers toggle the GPU's to compute mode in AMD settings. That applies the DAG size fix when mining ETH.
845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Flashing Sapphire RX580 8GB Nitro+ MICRON Memory on: December 23, 2017, 09:52:17 PM
I got a Nitro+ RX 580  8GB card from Newegg today that came with Micron memory as well. With the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.5 'one click timing patch' that adjusts the 1500 MHz and up timings with the bundled performance strap, I'm getting ~30.1 MH/s on UBQ + 905 MH/s DCR dual mining using 1200 MHz core/2250 memory. Not as good as the Hynix cards that get to 31+ MH/s with the same settings, but not bad.

In the words of a famous country song,

Quote
"You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

Now Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."
847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bminer: a fast Equihash miner for CUDA GPUs on: December 20, 2017, 04:09:42 PM
1070's max power isn't 250W, not sure where you got that from. It's 150W. Thus 65% would make it run at 98W. Yours runs at 161. You'd never be able to run it at above 180W, let alone 250.

250W is 1080Ti's max power.

Like it says on the top of the specifications in your link, the 150 W power limit is for the reference cards. The Zotac AMP! Extreme 1070 is a dual 8-pin card with a max power of 250 W.

848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bminer: a fast Equihash miner for CUDA GPUs on: December 20, 2017, 03:06:32 PM
Ah, that explains it: your power limit isn't actually in effect, which is demonstrated by the card consuming up to 161W, or 107% (not 65%), performing at 3.15 sol/J. Those are expected values for a well-made 1070. I thought the 503 sol/s at 147W was a sustained figure, which it doesn't appear to be. Got my hopes up for a second there. Cheesy

The 65% power limit is in effect. The max power is 250 W, 250 x 0.65 = 162.5 W. As long as the extra hash is profitable the extra wattage is irrelevant.

849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bminer: a fast Equihash miner for CUDA GPUs on: December 20, 2017, 02:27:43 PM
Can confirm that Slushpool works now. On my GTX 1070 with 8960 MHz mem clock, 105% power limit, and CPU polling disabled in the miner, I'm getting about 508.5 sol/s (3.22 sol/J), or ~6 sol/s more than on the DSTM miner on average. (Note that this setup is optimized for maximum profit rather than maximum power efficiency because power is very cheap here.) I also enjoy the fact that it keeps desktop applications sufficiently responsive by default without dropping too much performance (I see a ~4% drop when e.g. watching a YouTube video, which is perfectly acceptable) and without having to manually tune intensity settings. Good job there!

Although by a small margin, this is, indeed, the fastest miner around. At least until DSTM turns off the dev fee. :p

Could any 1080 Ti owners test this miner on their highest stable clocks (without voltmod) and report the sol/s values they're getting? I'm interested in investment opportunities. If my estimates are correct, it should be possible to push some 810..825 sol/s with this miner.

Awesome update. On 3.0 I'm getting 1080-1090 Sol/s with a GTX 1080 and 1070 @ ~300 W! The high CPU usage is now gone with ~30% usage on a G1840.
Is this with CPU polling off? What are your 1070 clocks? I don't think I've ever managed to go above 500 at 98% power limit (which I assume is your setting).

Zotac Amp! Extreme GTX 1070. Core +100 MHz, Memory, +500 MHz, Power Limit 65%, CPU polling off. Running stable almost 2 days. With EWBF 0.34b I get ~460 H/s and with DSTM v0.5.7 ~495 H/s with the same settings.

850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are there new graphic cards coming out 2018 on: December 20, 2017, 03:28:33 AM
Due to incresed manufacturing costs from moving to a new 12nm process , Volta is probably going to be even more overpriced than the current series is. Get ready to get out your BTC wallet out.

851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it safe to use the same cable for riser and RX570 on: December 19, 2017, 10:03:07 PM
8-pin PCI-E connectors are rated for 150 W and 6-pin connectors are rated for 75 W. Dual mining a RX 570 will use ~100 W and the riser ~50 W, so if the PSU came with 8-pin PCI-E cables with a 6-pin pigtail you can use it to power a single 8-pin connector on the card and use the 6-pin pigtail to power the riser and it should be perfectly fine as long as the PSU has good quality 16 AWG cables. You could also use a 6-pin PCI-E extender cable if the pigtail cable is too short.

852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's your OPINION - Buying New Mining Rigs VS. Holding onto Bitcoins U Have? on: December 19, 2017, 06:20:58 PM
IMO, you are better off investing in rigs at this point. About two months ago you would have been better off investing directly in BTC by far.

The easy double and triple gains on BTC are probably behind, for the most part. In contrary a lot of people coming in to Crypto will realize there are lots of Altcoins that look cheap in comparison, so it's a great time to be a miner. Smiley

853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS PRIME Z270-A OR ASUS PRIME Z270-P on: December 19, 2017, 05:15:23 PM
The Asus Z270-A has 7 PCI-E slots and the Z270-P has 6. BBT has put more rigs together than most on this forum and the Asus Z270-A/AR was his go to board for many of his builds this year. He is now switching to the new Z370-A to replace it.

I ordered some, so I'll let you know if they do save power. I also like the fact the risers have a slimmer design that doesen't stick out from the sides of the cards. I was having to space the cards farther apart on a dual tier open air case because the risers from the cards on top would be too close to the fans on the bottom cards.

855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASRock H81 Pro BTC R2.0 / Wiring. Please help. on: December 19, 2017, 02:16:55 PM
On researching connecting multiple PSU's safely , I came across multiple answers as well. Ultimately the one that made the most sense was to power everything connected to the motherboard with the same PSU, including all the 6-pin USB risers. The primary reasons given by several posts I came across from people claiming electrical experience was to ensure there is a strong ground connection between the PSU's and to make sure there is no voltage difference in the lines connected to the motherboard  by mixing power sources.

I have also confirmed with a multimeter that there IS a 3.3V and ground line coming from the PCI-E slot on the motherboard through the USB cable on the x1 connector to the riser, so claiming the risers are electrically isolated from the motherboard is FALSE.

You can set the minimum payout on Dwarfpool to 0.1 XMR and each payout has a 0.008 XMR transaction fee to a personal wallet or 0.014 XMR for exchange wallet with payment_id.

857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Minig Monero on: December 19, 2017, 11:39:00 AM
It depends on what the minimum payout is on the pool. That's something you should check before you start mining on a pool since a lot of XMR pools have a high payout threshold of 0.5 XMR or more. If you have a low hash rate, it could take months to receive a payout.
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Profitable these days? on: December 19, 2017, 02:57:00 AM
Right now a six card RX 570 4GB Rig is netting you 0.75 ETH a month for ~$50 in power costs, so hell ya it's profitable.

If you go with the RX 560, be careful. AMD has lowered the performance specification on the RX 560, so make sure you get the cards with 1024 cores and not the new gimped RX 560's with only
 896.

Your timings are too aggressive. Search the forum for the Bios guide tutorial by Mattthev and follow it. You can also try the Polaris Bios Editor v1.62 'one click timing patch' on the original Bios.
