When exactly can we expect to see our purchases in our mailboxes?
Already got my copy. It's a great read.

843  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: April 05, 2012, 08:53:27 PM
I dont see it in the block explorer, but then I dont see any of my mined coins there - only transferred coins.  I got 1.7 yesterday morning, then 2.something yesterday night.  Much more than I would think with my 1.4Mh/s.  This morning my 2.something was not confirmed and upon reboot it disappeared leaving only my 1.7 which is confirmed and is the only payout I have gotten in almost 48 hours.  Weird...

Still no payout...    Undecided

I think I should probably make my own thread about this.

Any ideas?  Here is my p2pool screen,

You need to update bitcoind and p2pool
844  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 05, 2012, 06:03:40 PM
You don't need to specify $BITCOIN_USER or $BITCOIN_PASS if the user running p2pool has it in their bitcoin.conf
You do if you want p2pool to be able to connect to your Bitcoin instance.
No. You don't.

This is the command I use to start p2pool.

Code:
python ./run_p2pool.py -a 1HZY2Bks6HjTXFxXSj8ivhWCnkosypiUxR --p2pool-port 8335 -w 8336 --merged http://namecoindrpcuser:pass@127.0.0.1:9332/ --disable-upnp -f 0.5

See any bitcoind username/password there?

It's gonna be a website like bitcoinica or mtgox -- you don't see their code, right ? But you use it, and pay commissions.
I think those sites will only survive until someone figures out a decentralized and open way of doing trades.  This is a difficult problem, but people are working on it.
846  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 05, 2012, 05:54:15 PM
Here's a simple bash script which avoids running an out-of-date version of p2pool and minimizes downtime as much as possible during upgrades.
It assumes everything runs as the "bitcoin" user, you have a git clone of the master branch and the screen utility is used to launch p2pool.
You'll have to change some variables and/or p2pool parameters to suit your configuration/needs before launching it with crontab. If your environment (the email system more specifically) is configured correctly you should receive an email telling if a restart was needed or not. Enjoy !

Code:
#!/bin/bash
P2POOL_DIR="~/p2pool"
FEE="0.5"
PAYOUT="change_this"
BITCOIN_USER="change_this"
BITCOIN_PASS="change_this"
EXISTINGPID=`pgrep python -U bitcoin`

cd $P2POOL_DIR
if git pull | grep -q 'Already up-to-date'; then
        echo "No restart needed for p2pool"
else
        echo "Starting new p2pool"
        screen -U -d -m python run_p2pool.py --disable-upnp -f $FEE -a $PAYOUT $BITCOIN_USER $BITCOIN_PASS
        if [[ ! -z "$EXISTINGPID" ]]; then
                echo "Waiting for new p2pool to be ready"
                sleep 90
                echo "Killing old p2pool"
                kill $EXISTINGPID
        fi
fi

OK, I guess I'm defending Goat now...

I don't believe Goat is running a ponzi scheme.  He is running pass-thru operations to his First Pirate Savings & Trust account.  While that doesn't make him a scammer, it does make him a liar.  He's getting a higher % off his investor's BTC than he is paying out and since his operations are make believe, that can make tracking dividends and such difficult (what a tangled web we weave when we aspire to deceive).  I also don't believe he is in Thailand.  His avatar looks like a poorly photoshopped job (see black shirt on black background) and he appears to be selling honey using a 3rd party in Thailand to make it appear that he is located somewhere that he is not.  A simple 10 second video of him and his wife with some honey in Thailand would show me that I am wrong, but he doesn't want to do this for some reason.  That is why I worry about the potential of him disappearing.  He also has expressed fear in regards to Shakaru's situation of having a bounty hunter sent after him and refuses to provide the GLBSE with his identity documents.  Ask yourself this, would someone who is running an operation the size of Goat's claim, with multiple listings on the GLBSE and even larger outside projects, spend their time visiting bee farms in Thailand to sell honey for next to nothing to raise funds to be a donator?  It just doesn't add up.  Is Goat running a ponzi scheme?  I don't think so.  Is Goat a liar who cannot be trusted?  Yes.  That doesn't mean he will scam everyone, it just means he's a liar.  If you are comfortable doing business with a liar, buy his shares and enjoy the ride.  If not, don't.  I think it is that simple.
I think "liar" should be replaced with "withholder of truth"
848  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reverse-engineer bitcoin transactions on: April 05, 2012, 05:06:53 PM
Open-Source:
The code will not be open-source, and will be hosted on our server.
I don't think the community is going to put much effort in supporting a closed source project that is used to monitor them...
849  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] TyGrr Tech on: April 05, 2012, 05:00:25 PM
GLBSE with 4 accounts and assets everywhere is very hard to manage.

I imagine it would be.  Especially when they are all scams.
Scams pay dividends? I never knew! I must invest in a few.

A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to its investors from their own money or the money paid by subsequent investors, rather than from profit earned by the individual or organization running the operation. The Ponzi scheme usually entices new investors by offering higher returns than other investments, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent. Perpetuation of the high returns requires an ever-increasing flow of money from new investors to keep the scheme going.

The system is destined to collapse because the earnings, if any, are less than the payments to investors. Usually, the scheme is interrupted by legal authorities before it collapses because a Ponzi scheme is suspected or because the promoter is selling unregistered securities. As more investors become involved, the likelihood of the scheme coming to the attention of authorities increases.

Sound familiar?
Are you HorseRider's alt or something?

You saw all the math above about mining, right?  I guess you believe its all fake numbers and goat is somehow using his own funds from selling his own shares or...?  How many baseless accusations are going to be thrown around here?
850  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: April 05, 2012, 04:49:43 PM
Funny had same problem.   Is anyone here Litecoin mining on their BAMT rigs?  I am not well versed with linux and would like to get some of my quad cores LTC mining. Thanks for any help!
BAMT is 32-bit so you won't have much luck.
851  Economy / Services / Re: League of Legends Referrals on: April 05, 2012, 06:36:54 AM
$40 is much more appealing.  Do you still have my referral link? And how many BTC would that be?
852  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1176 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); supporting p2sh! on: April 04, 2012, 11:43:01 PM
it does work like that...if it was the opposite then it would be bad luck...

853  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - The most advanced Bitcoin Client in existence! (v0.60-alpha) on: April 04, 2012, 11:11:11 PM
Seems like a good feature to add to the "Developer" usermode.  I'll make a comment to myself about using a scroll-area for the confirmation window, and then I can add that pretty easily.
I would be very happy with a "send to JSON" command in developer mode.

Keep up the great work!
854  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1176 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); supporting p2sh! on: April 04, 2012, 11:08:47 PM
A while back I was complaining that my pool payouts would never catch up with the blocks my miners have generated. Well, the ratio looks much better now. 7 blocks to 326 BTC paid out plus Namecoins. Seems I was wrong. Looks like you really just need to keep mining long enough for it to equal out.

Consider the following :
I'm at 198 BTC and no block found ^^

Lol I'd start solo mining, and hope that variance and luck catch up with me.
If only luck and variance worked like that
855  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - The most advanced Bitcoin Client in existence! (v0.60-alpha) on: April 04, 2012, 10:38:47 PM
I don't know why http://p2pool.stitthappens.com:8336/patron_sendmany/123 doesn't load for you.  It loads fine for me on all the systems I have tried.

Sweet. Now I wonder if there is some way I can make Firefox interpret that URI as a blockexplorer link. Hmm...
I'm sure greasemonkey can.  Of course, greasemonkey could have done it even without the forum being modified.

Very cool!
858  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - The most advanced Bitcoin Client in existence! (v0.60-alpha) on: April 04, 2012, 06:19:54 PM
So to answer your question, it is a feature.  I didn't anticipate users not realizing they don't know their own passphrase.
I love this feature btw.

I have a request.  I wanted to import several addresses into Armory, and it was a pain because I had to enter my password every time.  The Satoshi client has the ability to unlock the wallet for X seconds.  If the wallet could be unlocked for the session or for X seconds, it would have been more convenient. The ability to relock the wallet would also be nice.  I don't think this needs to be default behavior, or even available to every user level.

Also, is there any way to send a transaction with a list like this?  http://p2pool.stitthappens.com:8336/patron_sendmany/123
859  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [390 GH/s 0% fee SMPPS] ArsBitcoin mining pool! on: April 03, 2012, 06:01:17 PM
I'd love to see Ars keep running.   I don't use Eligius due to the long wait required to reach the payout amount (or at least that's why I stopped using it a long, long time ago, and haven't been back to check if anything changed).
Why does this matter?  Do you really need your coins immediately?  And it's actually MORE secure since it's impossible for Luke to run off with the coins.
