Hey Snorek, do you mind telling us if your Slark account had a strong password?  I mean seriously...  I don't think I've seen as much accounts getting hacked in a forum before.  It's weird.  How do they get all those passwords?
8402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: June 11, 2018, 11:05:25 AM
Last call to join the cool kids guys.  If you wanna play in the FIFA WC betting pool just go to the thread and tell hilariousandco you're interested.  It's just 25 GBP to join.

8403  Economy / Speculation / Will Bitcoin Go Below 6000 USD? Prop Bet on: June 11, 2018, 10:45:02 AM
And discuss why or why not?

I just wanna know all your opinions.  I was also gonna make this a poll, but I think the discussion 'why' (or why not) would be better.

Let's also have some fun around in the thread...  Wink

Edit:  Prop bet added.

Anybody wanna put their money where their mouth is?  Since it's near the what I think is the 6000 USD floor, would anybody here wanna bet against me 8 to 1?

I say BTC won't go below 6000 USD for your 80 bucks vs my 10 bucks (I could go up to 50 for your 400).

Terms would be:

If BTC goes below 6000 USD, it should stay there for at least two weeks to be considered actually 'below 6000'.

If BTC goes below 6000 USD for a week (for example) then goes back up and then back down again, the counter for the 'below 6000 two week time frame' goes back to zero.

We use Bitfinex's BTC/USD price.

Bet is only open while BTC is above 6500 USD.

*Bet is only available til the end of June (2018).

Bets would only be open to very trusted members and gamblers in hilariousandco's FIFA and EPL betting pool.

*If ever somebody bites and bets against me, it will end on December 31, 2018, midnight (forum time).

Anybody?

8404  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 225: Whittaker vs Romero 2 Info and Prediction Thread on: June 11, 2018, 10:34:03 AM
^  Yup...  I honestly had Romero winning that match.  But yeah, I think it would look really bad for the UFC to parade Whitaker with the belt around the octagon if he lost.  Lol.

Edit:  Surprising was RDA vs Covington...  I really thought RDA was taking Covington to school.

8405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 10, 2018, 12:50:09 PM

^  Ok let's wait.  And yup Vettel was great but I'm more excited about the guys on third and fourth on the grid.  Verstappen vs Hamilton!

Should be fun seeing Verstappen defend vs Hamilton (under breaking!  Lmao).  Grin

^  We already did.  They're all talk, no action.  Grin  Anyway I have some side bets offered in Joca97's thread   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4409609.0

It's open to anybody who's in the FIFA WC betting pool too.  Anybody want in?  Grin

I checked your bet a bit and will probably take you on it or slightly different one if you are interested. What odds would you give me for Griezman? Neymar or Messi will probably outscore him but I would like to take him if you offer fair odds.

It's pretty much a coin flip between Messi and Griezmann with the latter as a (very) slight favorite.  I'm looking at the latest odds at Pinnacle right now (Nitrogen doesn't work on my tablet):  https://www.pinnacle.com/en/odds/specials/soccer/fifa-world-cup

Last time I checked it was very close with Messi vs Neymar.

Wanna go for it?  Messi vs Griezmann?  G is a nice pick btw...  I regret not thinking about him.  I went for the obv choice.  Lol.

Ok. Fair enough. Let's go for it, in the bookie I checked Messi was a slight favorite.
Couple of rules for the bet, add something if I missed it:
1. We look to official FIFA page for number of goals scored (in case of some funny situation where it is unclear who scored the goal)
2. The bet is void if Messi & Griezmann score same amount of goals (sometimes FIFA proclaims the winner based on some obscure rule like who scored first or last, we will ignore that).
3. Amount? I will let you pick that one. I saw you said from 10-25$. I am ok with anything between 10-50$. I would prefer if we make a bet in BTC comparative, that way it is also sort of small crypto investment but if you have problem with that we can leave it in $.
4. And of course I pick Griezmann and Messi is your choice. If you want to change it to Neymar, please do because I believe Messi will outscore Neymar for sure Smiley

Quoting that^ and confirming that I agree to the rules.  Since you could go up to 50 USD then let's go to 50 USD.  But I prefer to leave it in USD...  We wouldn't have to deal with the volatility.  It would suck to agree with something like .007 and see BTC go to 15K USD the next month.  Lol.

Anyway quote this reply and it's on.

This is gonna be Messi's WC!  I can feel it!  Grin

^  I'm glad.  I'd like to see more of Kane and the Spur's core players this year.  I think City will have a waaay harder time dominating the league this time around with LFC, Man United and Tottenham improving their squads.  Tho we haven't seen Poch acquire anybody yet, it's safe to say Daniel Levy could break the bank to get the players they actually want.

8415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 225: Whittaker vs Romero 2 Info and Prediction Thread on: June 09, 2018, 12:16:15 PM
So Romero didn't make weight again, making the main event a none title bout...  Sucks since there isn't much at stake anymore.  But the good news is the Romero line is going up.  Not sure what that means tho...  Does that mean he won't be fighting at peak performance?  Did he get an extended wait cut before the weigh in?

Anyway, the RDA line is fading too.  He's now the underdog and I'm not sure what that means too.  Lol.  I'll prolly just make small bets on the underdogs of the top fights in the main card (Romero, RDA and Anderson) just to make things entertaining.

^  No go on the bet?  It'll be fun...  And the winner gets bragging rights.  Lol.  And it isn't really about the BTC, it's just 10 - 25 bucks worth.  It's just having a bet with somebody in the gambling section makes things more interesting.  Grin
8417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Real-Life Professional Gambler will help you recover your losses on: June 08, 2018, 03:31:31 PM
Rofl professional roullette!  You're kidding right?  Cheesy

And the thing about pros is they would never ask for any money or offer any 'services' if they are winning.  They would mostly be eager to help out a fellow gambler who's going thru a bad run.
He was actually kidding. He meant to say a non-professional gambler that would help you run away with the little funds you have left. It would take someone who is stupid to actually fall for such a trick. Any professional obviously knows that everything is luck and most especially a game of such.

Generally, in the gambling world, even with poker than at least come with a little bit of skills still all balls down to luck and someone offering a service like this is actually looking for naive and gullible ones to feed on.

Uuuhh nope.  Tho luck plays a role, poker pros usually trust and rely solely in the math.  Every decision usually made is always what's good 'in the long run'.

Poker on TV with the high stakes pros gambling for big pots is not what it really is.  Those shows are edited.  Poker is more of a grind making +EV decisions as much as you can.
8418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum, Ripple and Their Regulatory Capture Advantage Over the Competition on: June 08, 2018, 02:01:08 PM
I tried to talk about this in the FJ Discord but there was a lack of responses.  I might as well bring it here and see what you guys think and gather opinions.

I know the research is lacking but I'll update the thread as soon as I get all the facts straight, like 'who exactly went to the SEC and represented Ethereum and Ripple'.  I heard Andersen Horowitz was there (that true?).  If he was, then more questions...  Which crypto (let's call both crypto for simplicity's sake, I know the issue about XRP) was he representing?  ETH or XRP?

Anyway read below.  What do you guys think?

Quote
So the SEC just hired another advisor for crypto...  And Ripple hired a former SEC director to make a case that XRP isn't a security.  I think something's up.  This could be regulatory capture at its best with those people (maybe) talking behind the scenes.

I think Ethereum could be part of it too.  Remember the news about a closed door SEC hearing on Ethereum and Ripple last month?  ETH and Ripple reps could be shilling their warez to the regulators...  Again regulatory capture if the SEC starts favoring some ICO's (and other privately funded projects) over the rest.  That means bad news for ADA, EOS, etc...

^  Yup.  I don't see him leaving too unless it's gonna be another record transfer like Coutinho to Barca.  They could def use the business, considering that Liverpool is trying to bolster their squad.

This could be THE season they're going after that EPL trophy.

Salah will stay with LFC
Source?

According to L'Équipe, Liverpool are very close to signing Nabil Fekir.

Apparently, Liverpool have reached an agreement with Lyon, deal is around €65m + bonuses. An official announcement from Liverpool is expected in the coming days. I think 65m is a bargain...now Liverpool needs a quality CB to rotate van Dijk or Lovren, and a quality GK (Alisson Becker, Roma goalkeeper, has been linked several times with Liverpool)

To say that 65+ EUR is a bargain for a single player shows that this transfer market is crazy.  Cheesy
