This is an awesome site -- I love how it looks! Any chance of releasing clones of this for other coins as well (Alt/BTC)?

Also, to add, OP... if you get everything squared away I may add it to the BTC Faucet Rotator. I'll keep up with your progress, Smiley.
8423  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Guide: Building a Solar Powered Mining-Plant on: June 16, 2013, 09:57:27 AM
I think it's really expensive to power your house from batteries at night.  Most houses get power from the grid at night.

Wouldn't the batteries be charged during the day though, to where at night all you're doing is burning up the saved energy, then replenishing it (while at the same time generating power for things) during the day?

Yes, but you have to buy the batteries and all the charging equipment.

I was under the impression that all of that was required anyways, to account from the over/underusing (so for ex. if you're generating 1 KW/hour and you happen to use 300 W one hour, you'd have 700 stored away so the next hour you could use 1.7KW and still not have issues).
.....
If only it was 100% efficient....., you don't take into account fully charged  or empty batteries.

Also you have to watch these "criminals" and their solar power ratings for the panels., just consider that you need to at least double or triple up, to ensure that you can use the power AND charge the batteries, if you go that way.... even if you feed surplus into the grid its not the storage capacity you think it is..

I spoke to a 'friend' who has a solar panel factory.. and I was quite shocked, by the time he had finished calculating, we reckoned  on nearly 500 panels for even a small sized mining operation.....

Just run the figures for something about 500w..... over a 24 hour period..... (12 kw) based on a 4-5 hours of full sunlight ...

and these 20% conversion rates are bull*** as well (yep if you can get NASA quality then your in with a chance)

So you mean that if you need, say 10 KW a day, estimate 2 KW per hour and therefore you need at least twice that (4 KW/hour) to account for bad efficiency?

I'll take a look at the source again but I'm pretty sure everything mentioned here is covered already.

I've been thinking about coinbox though.

the input is appreciated.

If you can get into coinbox that'd be awesome. It matches up your payments to that of other faucets as well, cutting down your cost and raising the payouts people receive on a per-payment basis.

I agree, mining alt coins will give you extra life out of your video cards. I'm about to build a new mining rig that uses 4 x 7970's in it JUST FOR Litecoin mining. Mind you, there are other litecoins that are more volatile if that's your thing. But fear not! Your video card won't be wasted!

7950 would be easy to configure with better hash and price ratio. 7970s are not worth the extra price.

What's the difference in power usage though? That could be a huge selling point depending. Even if the 7970 has a higher upfront investment, saving $2-3 a day could easily make it worth the extra cost.

You still have a chance. Don't mine bitcoin directly mine alternate coins like WDC,DGC or my most favourite PXC. And keep them for atleast 2 months and you will definitely have more profit then you can even imagine.

I am mining WDC at the moment with my single 7950.

I wouldn't say "definitely." Any alt-coins can crash at any time (just like BTC could). While you probably WILL make more doing alts, it isn't guaranteed.

He said that he has bought the card so he has no other chance. He must mine alts to have a profit. And I agree to that alts can also crash at any time. But the fact is that all of them can't crash at the same time.

All it takes is for the alt you're mining to crash to turn your ROI from x% to 0%.

And I agree that alts are the best choice, but claiming one is a better choice than the others, with how young they still are, doesn't make sense. If anything, LTC would be the best choice and even it's still in limbo right now.
8427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC USB Bitcoin miner 300Mh/s on: June 16, 2013, 09:21:59 AM
Very overpriced

Yeah, if the price is .8btc. I will buy 100 of this.

I'd say even at .8BTC you're probably not going to see a ROI. It will mine so slow that it would take forever to get anything, and by the time it did it would likely be dead (the hardware).

1000 satoshis? That's below the min output limit. Your TX will never confirm.

Try seeing how CoinChat does it (plus, people frequently get a whole mBTC for a line of message).

The transactions will be sent out in 1 bulk pay to 100 recipients at a time, not individuals.

That will not confirm.

If you send ~5430 satoshis or less to anyone, EVEN if you are sending to 100 or 1000 addresses, the transaction will be "non standard" and the default client will block it.

This.

What you will need to do is create an account-type system to handle them. Then either do auto payouts once you hit a certain threshold or allow users to manually move their balance from delayed to pending.
8429  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is one 7850 at 78 degrees, but other two at 54 and 57? on: June 16, 2013, 09:18:26 AM
I'm not 100% sure about this but I've read elsewhere that the main card (used for your video and such) will be hotter because the system is also utilizing it while the system's running. The other two are only being used for the mining.

its no working  Huh

Use the BTC Faucet Timer/Rotator instead, :p. All sites on it are paying out, and all are checked regularly to ensure they keep paying and working.

(cutting down on quote length)

I see where you're coming from. In my case, I don't carry a gun, but then again I haven't seen any real violence where I live either (according to our PD, in my city there have been two violent crimes in the past 15 years, o.O). I do live in the middle of nowhere though, lol.

Thanks was about to cut down on the quote wall too
I don't carry a gun myself nor does anyone else for that matter up here, only the Cops carry visible guns and even the criminals don't bring them for anything but crimes. Just the usual concealed knife no one knows is there
That said if anyone wanted a weapon there's always something
Air-Soft Rifles
Kitchen Set Knife Set
Swords
Backpacks with a rice cooker
Molotov Cocktails
Crowbars
3D Laser Printed Gun
The list could go on a while

That said these weapons kill less efficiently than a gun so the most efficient route is usually the preferred one for crime and the most efficient weapon is usually the ones criminals prefer.
I also don't want armed border guards with guns protecting school children inside iron-cross bar windows
Too much like a prison  Grin
And signifies everyone should live in fear not a real positive message

That said if you live in the middle of nowhere a tranquilizer gun for wild bears might be handy or a gun for alligators if nearby
I hear they do make a mean gumbo

Lol, it would be somewhat funny to see people running around with samurai swords slicing and dicing. I always forget what group it is but one of the 2000+ or so year old colonies used to carry swords and go from village to village killing for sport.

Also, where I live we do have coyotes and wild boars, although I haven't seen any of them alive. Oddly enough an actual city nearby is the one plagued by coyotes and such the most (probably related to the whole gun thing -- they are outlawed there -- so people can't defend themselves).

Out here there are no real laws, other than federal ones. Ex. we can shoot guns out in our yard or whatever we want, really. The downside is that we don't get city assistance with fixing up roads or cleaning up dead animals.

.. When everyone has a gun, there is no violence.
Sorry, but this is just rubbish.

No, when everyone has a gun, there is LESS violence, and any violence that does occur is usually quickly contained.

Right, I completely agree that there is less. I don't agree that there is "none."

For the record, statistics have already proven this as well. If you look at the number of crimes with guns that are committed in various businesses, you will find that statistically they happen MUCH more often in places where weapons are banned (counties) than elsewhere. This isn't a coincidence; people want to commit crimes they can get away with. If everyone is capable of stopping them, their chances of success go down and therefore the number of people willing to take the risk does as well.

You'll always have those that are "insane" and will commit crimes regardless, though.

Difficulty of the acquisition of weapons is important when factoring those statistics
You said counties so I presume other counties allowed for weapons and so the point of entry is easy between regions
Counter Example would be the United Kingdom knife violence but a lot less gun violence
So choosing the best weapon of choice definitely factors into criminal minds everyone has a gun they use guns or everyone gets a knife
^_^ This count as an example of the forum degenerating XD

You are right on the concept of weapon availability, to a point, but some are easier to use. There's the theory (or fact?) that if all we had was rocks, people would still kill each other, just using rocks (and medieval times proves this as well). But giving easier to use weapons and/or faster to use ones makes getting away that much easier.

As for the counties, you're right: each county (which can be pretty small) can have its own laws on those things, so you could, for example, drive for 30 minutes and go through Guns Outlawed -> Allowed -> Outlawed -> Allowed. So something we've seen through statistics is that people go out of their way to go into another county where it's outlawed to carry guns, rather than going with their local area.
8435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MultiCoin][Stratum+GW] multipool.in - Always mine the most profitable coin on: June 16, 2013, 08:13:10 AM
Just to add on my own experience in case it helps with debugging, I'm not experiencing this problem. I'm at 31818 Accepts and 962 Rejects right now total, and ever since it jumped to LTC my Accepts have been going up while Rejects have stayed pretty low (most of my Rejects were from the fast-block coins).

This was on FTC... just now... The Diff changed mid-stream due to the number of workers online now.

diff 32 hurts when it drop due to new block found, and rejects up to 6x shares that were "waiting" for delivery, just before the block was found. Not so bad on slow coins like FTC, but on fast coins, it cuts you short by almost 50% of shares.

Alleviated by reducing my work-load size to 64 also... thus, it finishes up to 4x faster and then submits... instead of waiting for workload 256 to finish, before submitting on every card.

Problem resolved... Use CGminer 3.2.1 (I was only using 3.2.0 for issues related before all the wallets updated when I was solo-mining on this machine.)

Is it recommended to use WL of 64 for all coins (er, the multipool) then?

that's more of a card setting than a coin setting, afaik.

Well, I mean for LTC there are almost no stales. When it comes to the quick-block coins, though, after each block is found I have anywhere from 3 to 10 stales, which sometimes adds up quick. I'm wondering if the work load will decrease this (I don't quite get what the work load does).

I think it just controls the size of the packets that get sent to the GPU.

Ahh, thanks! I'll go ahead and give it a try and see what happens. I figure it can't hurt anything.
8436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mtgox safe to keep coins on: June 16, 2013, 08:12:33 AM
No where is safe, except backup on a USB and keep the USB safe. Best to keep 2 USB one as backup if you have lots of Bitcoins

USB isn't safe. It's a flash device, which are known to magically come up with missing data. I'd suggest you never trust only USB devices, even if you're using 2 or 3.
8437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: new to this have a few questions. on: June 16, 2013, 08:05:37 AM
Any chance you can mine ftc with a basic computer?
Just dont try it with a laptop. It will melt within a few hours.

lol, I think this one should be obvious for most. Just like why you shouldn't do hardcore gaming on laptops, :p.

But I do - some laptops have good GPU for a reason. Its hot when playing games, but the notebook has warranty as well

I would think that their heat dissipation would be a problem though.

Also, for anyone who does gaming on theirs, keep in mind that unlike gaming, mining keeps your GPU at 100% (unless you set it lower). I guess if you have a laptop BUILT for gaming and properly equipped, you can set the mining intensity lower and still be alright.
8438  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mtgox safe to keep coins on: June 16, 2013, 08:03:54 AM
I'll add that I think it's a good idea to have two off-line wallets. Secured one by saving it in an encrypted disk image on your hard drive and keep the majority of your bitcoins there. The other wallet should be treated as insecure since someone who hacks into your computer from the internet can steal your private key if they know where to look.

This would be the idea of "hot wallet" and "cold storage" if anyone cares, :p.
