What's the name/location of her store? That's a big leap if something necessary like clothes is being sold for BTC.

Unfortunately we closed up the shop last year.

What is the benefit of bitpay over simply telling the customers to send it to your personal address?

For retailers they like to be able to just put an app on their employee's phones and let them type in the dollar price of the purchase.

It is as simple as that. No need to coordinate addresses for each employee or have conversions for bitcoins or a tracking system.

BitPay will also allow the business owners to get all of their money in dollars. And it has a good tracking system of the payments.

For a merchant that does not care about bitcoin but wants to accept them, BitPay is ideal. All they need is an app. The setup is easy, and they get their money in their bank account just like with the credit cards that they are used to.

Their fee (1% I believe) is small compared to the convenience.

LOCAL SHOPS =/= Company
Employee Huh

Many retailers have some kid running the register. Or for restaurants you have waiters/waitresses.

I set up my wife's clothing store through BitPay and everything is very convenient. The YouTube video I posted shows how the transaction takes like 30 seconds and they said that they had to slow down for the video.

Yes, buy shares from a mining company, collect dividends, sell shares higher, ... , profit!

So it's a profit deal....

What I mean to assert by describing the state of the computer OS ecosystem, is that hierarchically organized power is good at one thing, and that is attaining more power. That's its ultimate goal. Its medium of operation comes second place to its pursuit of power it seems. Monopolies don't have to worry about their products because they have no competition to respond to. In the same way, we could consider that the present banking and monetary systems are monopolies. Through their use of legal, military, corporate, and social engineering, they have crafted a rather comfortable seat for themselves in the global sphere. Do they really feel threatened by crypto? I know some of you will point to recent legal action as signs towards a positive affirmation, but do they really? Will oil reserves be bought in Bitcoin? Will Blackwater (or whatever they call themselves nowadays) be payed in Bitcoin? Will Halliburton be accepting Bitcoin any time soon? How about the bond payments due to China? What about BP? How about the major banks themselves? Will JPMorgan be paying its multi-billion dollar expenditures in Bitcoin any time in the near future?

This is what I aim to change with BitPools.

Going from hierarchically organized power obtaining more power to simply organized power.

I bring this up here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266502.0

Power is all that matters, nothing else. Unfortunately the thread turned into a typical right vs left game of semantics so I locked the thread.

Will Blackwater be paid in bitcoins? Perhaps, or perhaps a competitor will emerge. Who will they work for? Whatever group of people wants to pool their money to pay them. Oil reserves in bitcoin? Maybe if enough people pool their funds and want to get into the oil game.

Baby steps first. The old games are about to have a new challenger and Bitcoin will be a useful tool as a new way forward emerges.

8428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ridley's Grocery Store accepting bitcoin from Life On Bitcoin couple on: August 16, 2013, 03:48:30 PM
This is awesome.  But when I've done transactions using multibit these have taken over an hour to validate!  Surely this would need to be completed before someone could leave the physical shop?

Or is this a non issue...

One word: Bitcoins
8430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Living only on bitcoins on: August 16, 2013, 01:14:21 AM
Actually, the Life On Bitcoin couple has been able to get gas, farm fresh produce, eat at 4-5 restaurants, and at least 3 of these are now accepting bitcoin from all customers, join a gym, pay for a cell phone, pay for accessories, buy hatching eggs, pay their neighbors for internet service, buy clothing online, pay for Beccy's volleyball team fees with a friend, and huge news - they just brought a local multi-location grocery store chain online. You can follow all of it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the blog you referenced above. Thanks so much for supporting the project.

Awesome. Good thing one of those stores has a gas station attached.

The great thing is, after this documentary is finished, they will still be able to pay for most things using bitcoins in their home town.

Loving the new look of the creep spawning, but there are a few issues with it: mainly that you've removed custom amounts. I said it was tedious, not unnecessary. Now you can't send out anything between 1 and 10 creeps. My suggestion would be: in addition to having the buttons there which spawn set amounts, add an input box where you can put custom amounts. Adding it after the 100x button would be best.

It would also be cool to be able to set custom amounts for every single type of creep, making combo attacks easier.

I agree, with the new setup you have to click on a creep 3 times if you want 3, then it spaces them out where there is not much advantage over just sending 1.

A combination would be great too. But doable with fast clicks.

It looks like the Utah couple filming their life on Bitcoin is 3 weeks into their 90 day experiment and they are not doing all that great.

http://lifeonbitcoin.com/blog/

One restaurant in their town is willing to accept bitcoins but the owner does not have a smart phone or wifi. And the couple has not yet been able to get a cell phone data plan to use to pay for things with bitcoin on their phones.

At least the price has been fairly stable. Unlike when Kashmir Hill was doing it for a week and the price dropped from $130s to low $90s.

I guess I should add these quick items about their project:
Quote
Is this a "fund my life" project?

NO.

A lot of people are misunderstanding what this project is about. The Kickstarter funds are going to fund a professional crew to film the feature length documentary. Beccy and I both have very successful professional lives. We have absolutely no need to live on bitcoin or get a free vacation. We will continue our day jobs. Taking on this documentary was a hard decision for us. We’re adding a a lot of work to our already busy lives. Good documentary films cost money, for filming, editing, expensive gear, and more. We’re doing this Kickstarter project to fund the film crew that will follow us for 3 months, then edit for months more making a professional documentary film.

Quote
Rules

1. Kickstarter funds will be used for production costs, filmmakers, post production, Kickstarter's 5% commission, the credit card transaction fees and the cost of the rewards. Kickstarter funds are not being used for our living expenses!

2. Credit cards, debit cards, and cash will all be confiscated at the airport upon returning from our honeymoon and arrival in Utah. Cell phones will also be revoked. New cell phones and minutes will need to be purchase with bitcoin.

3. All transactions for the following 90 days will be accomplished using bitcoin as the medium of exchange. Exceptions include taxes and medical emergencies.

4. Beccy and Austin will minimize participants in any transaction, ultimately reducing the parties to the bare minimum of buyer, seller, and the blockchain verification.

5. All attempts at direct exchange will be made. Intermediaries are permitted only after attempts for direct exchange have been thoroughly exhausted.

6. Friends and family will not be party to exchanges, unless they have commercial businesses, with which Beccy and Austin can exchange.

7. If we sell stuff or do contract work, we will need to be paid in bitcoin. Every attempt will be made to receive payments in bitcoin for any goods sold or services rendered.

8. The experiment will progress in a “bigger and better” style, finding the practical limits of bitcoin as a currency. If Beccy and Austin can accomplish a task easily, they then will accomplish the same kind of task at a larger scale. If they can travel to Salt Lake City with ease, can they travel to another state? Or another country? If they can order food at home with ease, can they get food at a restaurant just as easily? Can they get fresh produce?

9. All relevant experiences and learning will be shared across social media platforms, including at least a daily YouTube vlog, facebook posts, tweets, and Instagram photos, and expense logs.

EXEMPTIONS: Taxes, emergency medical expenses, existing debts such as student loan payments or credit card payments.

He talks about the constitution a lot.  He's a big fan of the New Hampshire constitution.

Even the part that makes it legal to revolt against the government?

 Grin

I believe he served on the redress of grievances committee before the new guard disbanded it.

I don't know if the exploratory committee is taking a position on article 10.

It will not come up. I just like that NH has it in their Constitution. Smiley

Bad things start happening when you send thousands of rats in all at once...

For me it starts repeating the same thing over and over like deja vu on the screen without all of the rats.

difference goes to state or get wasted (Today you sell for $$$, tomorrow you get jail and confiscation. Or get shot by competitors). I wouldn't like to become that rich.  Grin

You gotta get bitcoins first. Then when you get the bitcoin, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the woman.

The war on bitcoins will do to the Bitcoin price what the War on Drugs has done to the price of drugs.

We are all about to get stinking rich.
