if i recall correct, its a percentage of 27% right?
Why not buy from some local companies there and have them change the initial purchase price? Saves a lot of taxes...  Cool

I believe it is a 27% tariff of the total - I wouldnt know for sure as I have not bought any since - I would buy locally if they were not asking for twice the price and if they were new not used, had a warranty, and were actually trustworthy sellers.

I have spent over 10k on purchases where the seller never shipped what they were selling... I now only buy from manufacturers

I agree, the current situation would make anyone loose enthusiasm for it, not to mention the 27% import tax they got on the miners coming into the U.S now, which makes you want to quit even more if you don’t have the miners on hand already.

In my case I’ve finished installing everything and the miners are just sitting here so I have to try to see what happens, after all the work has been done.

I keep hoping to see Japan come out with ASIC's so can avoid the import tax, though even with it - Bitmain S9's are super cheap, especially when having a shit ton of coupons that are just expiring left and right lol

yea - I am a bit pissed about it and yea, if I run a temp line over to the miners - they will see my main residential service increase as they did on the secondary. My solar panels can run maybe a couple of miners during sunlight :/ Makes me really wish I had a battery installed on the system.

Cool man,  the electric company made me buy and put 2x600 amp, one next to the transformer and one inside the building, as well as one 200 amp fuse.  The wire cables that I got running to the 600amps is 350mcm which is as thick as 4 fingers put together, that wire was hella expesive!  I don’t remember the exact price but it was around 3-4K just to run it from the transformer to the inside of the farm.  It was a lot longer to runit to the main line outside.  Pretty much I’ve spent a fortune to install all of it!  Not to mention the price of the transformer.  Lips sealed

It was my plan to build a 60x100 building and fill it with miners but right now, that is not cost effective and with the electric company giving me so much crap, I am starting to lose my enthusiasm for it.

isnt it a option to pull a extention wire with enough capacity from your house connection to the other location temporarily?

I dont think I can pull 400 amps with an extension cord lol

Wow, you got your own building on 3 acres and they are still giving you sh...., that’s messed up!  I just installed a transformer my self but it took them almost half a year to do it, because of all the bureaucratic paperwork I had to go through.

Yea - I am on month 4 or 5 in trying to get it hooked up. I want 3kv or thereabouts.

Extension wire? Lmao  Cheesy.  Bro, i don’t think he is trying to hook up one vacuum cleaner  Grin

well I do have a vacuum in the building but yea it's not just for power to that - there are the miners, the fans, the a/c unit, the dehumidifier, the cameras, the routers and maybe a few other things.

well I am currently stuck - the electric company has suspended my service to my mining building for the time being.... and that is why my miners were no longer mining. My building is located on my residential property (about 3 acres) but has it's own and separate meter/panel box - due to my high consumption, I have had multiple visits from the electric company (even a couple from law enforcement who detected the heat on thermal and thought I might have a grow house) and now they want me to convert my residential service to commercial and state they need to install a new/different meter and I will have to pay for the changes... now mind you, I have been trying to get a transformer installed so I can expand and they have been delaying/blocking that and NOW they pull this move... So, I am pushing for them to install the transformer that way I can build a larger building to house more of my miners and to possibly do hosting...

but for time being, I am temporarily shut down. I may try to relocate a few of my miners to a location nearby in the meantime just too keep accruing BTC, but I doubt I can do them all and keep it profitable.

eh... I just noticed that my miners have not been mining since Monday on Kano pool... I have been so busy at work and all that I have not even gone out to check the miners smh.... I am heading there after work to see what the issue is... I cannot remote into the pc there atm so my guess is the breaker must have tripped. I really hope we dont get a block now until I ramp back up!

10 rewards per month of a 30x reward is exactly the same as 30 rewards per month of a 10x reward.

This is totally true. Thats why i look at the total picture, and not the rewards individually.
And my calculator tells me that currently, i do better as on Kano...

I have a feeling that your calculator tells you what you want to hear.  The "total picture" covers more than just "currently" and if you look at what you earned for the year at Kano it was higher than those other pools.  Good luck chasing luck...that usually never works out like folks think it will Smiley

Do not get me wrong, I love supporting Kano but for the 2 months that I have been on kano pool I have earned .08342365 - 5 other miners with same hash rate on another pool have earned .12601409 so for the 2 months I have essentially "lost" out on almost 1/3rd of the profit I would have made had I not used Kano.

Now I realize we have had 2 low luck months and had I been on for September and using my average pymt amount, I would be at .19364022 for Kano and the other pool, including Sept would only be at .18942017  --- so Kano would have been better for me had I been on the pool longer. Short term may not always look good but for long term, Kano would be more profitable for me.

edit** and had I been here the whole year or if  I was willing to put all my miners on one pool - and had been here the whole year, I would prolly have quite a bit more than I have now, considering that BTC value and rewards have decreased over time.  but to use the average I get now (yes, I know it would have been higher earlier in the year) I would have made .89 BTC off the 200 blocks mined by Kano pool. where as the same 5 miners earned .753 BTC on slush - and that is actual based on the value/reward/difficulty that was in play at that time.

You know MAGA hats and Trump 2020 signs are all made in China.

Mine were made in America - by a local shop that sells them to locations all over the US.

Yes of course, I knew that very well lol I just wanted to know if he proposed something new;)

I think I lost what you are asking - you stated "If he proposed something new" - do you mean Bitmain?
8534  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: November 27, 2018, 05:06:35 PM
Any additional option ?

such as? LPM is as simple as that, LPM only - if you want to adjust freq and such, that still has to be done the same way as it was done before and is also dependent upon which firmware you install prior to the LPM update.
8535  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: November 27, 2018, 04:43:11 PM
UP ! Bitmain Release new firmware for S9I / S9J and say :

"Add support for low power mode, reduce power consumption."

Any people try it ?

I have tried it on both the S9i and S9j and have zero issues so far. they are hashing same as before - I do not have a way to measure power consumption though other than waiting for the months bill to see if it drops.
8536  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BitCrack - A tool for brute-forcing private keys on: November 26, 2018, 05:26:56 PM
One advantage of focusing on puzzle transactions is that finding (and taking) those funds presents no moral dilemma. It's meant to be a reward.

please clarify - how is finding/taking funds (essentially stealing) found to have no moral dilemma? and why would stealing be a reward?

or am I misunderstanding and there is no stealing being done and these are just free funds floating out there?

The whole point of a puzzle transaction is that someone will solve it. The person who created the puzzle has donated those funds, and intends for the winner to claim them. Kind of like hiding a wad of bank notes in a local park, and publicly announcing clues on how to locate them.

ok got it - you are not brute forcing an unknown person's account but one specifically set up for this challenge.

finally figured out what the issue was with the disconnects... for some reason, Awesomeminer was trying to do profit switching on my ASIC's so it would keep jumping them from one pool to the next.

Not sure why it was trying to apply profit switching to my ASIC's but after finding the setting and turning it off, my miners have not disconnected.
