Do you set rpcuser, rpcpass(word?), server=1 (or deamon=1? or even both?) and allow connections from localhost in the config file?

Edit: just checked and

server=1
daemon=1
rpcuser=whatever
rpcpassword=SHA256(ofJustAnythingYouDontNeedItAnywayUnlessYouConnectRemotly)
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

should work. IIRC localhost is allowed by default, so that setting might be redundant.

-snip-
"Adopt this blockchain, it is the best one" and they are trustworthy, and people adopt it, but the blockchain has bit rot?  Anyway I'm not going to worry about it, it's not my job.

Thats not how bitcoin works. No full node just trusts another node. Most of your threads I read in the recent past could be avoided if you read the whitepaper.

8565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.org now claiming to be "offical" site on: October 20, 2014, 05:36:57 PM
Most users will learn that google is broken and will misslead you if you dont double check. Google add scams in the past, broken search results now.

Remember google is not your friend.

btw your title looks missleading as your text states that google lists the site as official not the site itself
8566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unconfirmed transaction almost 18h :( on: October 20, 2014, 11:20:45 AM
Transactions without fee may be long, several miners are choosing blocks with higher fee.
Has it occurred to me that a transaction without fee delay 4 days to confirm.

There are several factors to determine the fee.
The most known is the size of the TX, 0.0001 per KByte, but the age and the size of the input also matter.

I had a TX that did not confirm for 8 days with very small inputs. 4 inputs total 0.0022 BTC. In the end I had to doublespend the TX with fee.
I also had a TX just this morning that had a single input >1 BTC and confirmed within 9 minutes without fee.

See here [1] for the formula.

8567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Most recent wallet not showing any balance on: October 20, 2014, 09:11:44 AM
alright, i was aware of that but the new thing to me was that the overview tab is not showing any of my transactions and 0.00 balance in both pending and available,

is that normal with this version of this client?

Yes its normal. Your wallet.dat has the transactions safed inside, thus they are shown under the transactions tab, but since they are not yet valid for your client they are shown as conflicted and not on the main page. If the sync progess would be very fast you could see them on the main page one by one while the conflict gets resolved. The the sync currently works chances are this will happen while you do not watch the main window Smiley

-snip-

That makes no sense. Im not sure if you are even serious. Let's say 1 BTC = infinite US dollars. Then what can you buy with 1 BTC, the universe? it makes no sense.

"What you can buy with it" is not messured in US dollar. If 1 BTC = infinity US Dollar, it would mean that the US financial system collapsed and the US dollar is worth nothing. 1 BTC could buy you a club-mate maybe. It makes no sense, but for a different reason.

Can someone tell me how to get funds from Bitgo to my downloaded application Bitcoin Core QT? Here's what it looks like:

Thanks!  Tongue

Select ... uh MacOS... does it show a menu bar somewhere? Maybe if you press alt or the CMD key? There should be something called File or similar and Receiving address below that. The same menu should allow you to make a backup, consider making one (encrypted!) after you have send the coins. Just in case.

It will list all your addresses and allows you to generate a new one. It also has a copy button, select an address and hit the copy button to get it into the clipboard.

To send the bitcoins to that address from bitgo you can use their step by step guide here [1].

Hi.
recently I opened up Multibit only to discover that most of my bitcoins were sent to someone. This transaction happend on a day where I had not used multibit. I never authorized this transaction.

Scan your machine for malware from an external OS (boot CD/USB/DVD/etc. made on another machine).

Is there any was I can get my bitcoins back?
Thanx

Probably not, want to post the TX id?

Yes, I thought of that. That's a good idea. It will take a little while. Will let you know if I have any success! Have a nice weekend all!  Cool

Enjoy your time in wonderland.
