861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really secure? on: October 09, 2017, 08:17:25 AM
Hello pals,
Recently I introduced Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to my friends and family, they liked the concept but they asked me a question that I wasn't able to answer. Is Bitcoin really secure? What if a hacker was able to hack Bitcoin system/blockchain?Who manages Bitcoin security and what are the security measures taken to avoid hackers being able to steal Bitcoins? Why Bitcoin is not blocked for those who use it illegally by buying/selling in the deepweb market? What if governements ban Bitcoin because of these people?
I really appreciate if you  guys give me some answers

I don't think hackers at any point of their lives didn't try to break into the Bitcoin system. I think they tried and I think Satoshi Nakamoto also designed Bitcoin to deny all of them because if not, then Bitcoin has been long gone in the cryptoworld already.

That's only my opinion though.  Smiley
862  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Philippines Board nagiging social media. on: October 09, 2017, 07:42:05 AM

Good luck!
867  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Need Wallet Recommendation on: October 08, 2017, 07:20:22 AM
Ano po ang paraan niyo nang pag cash in and out? Thanks

Ngayon, meron ako tatlong wallets. All web wallets yun gaya nung nasa ibaba.

868  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: exxx Tokens Airdrops nagsulputan? on: October 08, 2017, 07:04:10 AM
Para sakin wala naman mawawala if mag register ka to get free coins. So if nag materialize at napnta sa exchange na maipapalit mo sa BTC then you're a winner.

869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you first hear about bitcoin? on: October 08, 2017, 06:36:03 AM
I first heard about Bitcoin together with its so called public ledger or the "blockchain" itself over the TV news about its rise and its impact in the currency. I wasn't so interested about that news until few years later when my friend who is investing in Bitcoin too that i learned a bit more about Bitcoin.
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Dead Without China? on: October 07, 2017, 09:56:09 AM
China has become the powerhouse for Bitcoin (and the whole cryptocurrency in general) as it is hosting many Bitcoin miners due to cheaper electricity and maybe also cheap labors. China also boasts of probably millions of Bitcoin owners and traders who are influencing the moves of the market on day to-day basis. As far as acceptance of Bitcoin in China, it is comfortably good until such time when the government decided that it is time to intervene.

In general, the Chinese government is not comfortable with Bitcoin as it indeed representing a different currency that they can not control with. since Bitcoin is decentralized it would be hard for the government to make interventions and so they are thinking that maybe it is time to ban it altogether. The government can not kill Bitcoin but what they are doing is actually closing the country as a market for Bitcoin.

So the question is: Can Bitcoin survive without China? In case, it can't then then there is something wrong with it since it is not resilient to ride the big storm it is in.

It's like "they don't really know what hit them" scenario. Banning Bitcoins will not affect the cryptocurrency world or even weaken the solidity of bitcoin because i don't think Chinese owns the biggest percent of Bitcoins in the market. Yes they can ban Bitcoin forever but doesn't stop BITCOIN. Though bitcoin suffers a major downfall on that action by China, still, "The currency for the people" has its value skyrocketed once again and that its value may even reaches 5K USD before this year ends.
871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you like best about bitcoin? on: October 07, 2017, 09:30:53 AM
I like BITCOIN since it is digital and since it is digital, it's safe from being robbed physically. Its transaction is also secure since it uses military-grade cryptography.
Every transaction is also recorded in the public record or ledger called the "blockchain".

And lastly, it is decentralized which means it has no government affiliation or autonomous and has no banks because it’s based strictly on peer-to-peer technology.
872  Economy / Speculation / Re: what you think about bitcoin in like 5 years? on: October 07, 2017, 08:59:09 AM
bitcoin is five years time in my opinion there will be a lot of hard forks from the original bitcoin blockchain and the value of bitcoin would increase by 300 percent today's price. if transaction's speed and price remains the same, bitcoin's not improving and maybe the price wont grow that much

Hard forks are inevitable and it will always will. Without it, a digital coin won't survive. With that being said, Bitcoin will lasts and i think it is designed infused with 100% longevity in the cryptocurrency world.

And if i see it in the next 5 years, its value will triple and will be a million worth in the next decades and will always dominate the cryptocurrency world.
873  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: October 07, 2017, 08:38:23 AM
Personally, if I'm in a coffee shop or any store with some people, I pull out my wallet and subtly show them my Xapo debit card. Then they get curious on what kind of card is that since it doesnt look like the usual Mastercard or creditcard. Then I explain it from there on.

What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? Smiley

Videos are the best way to go. People are too lazy to road wall of texts about convoluted technical stuff. Andreas Antonopoulos videos are a good way to share some basic knowledge on bitcoin. I also like Trace Mayer interviews where he makes some good points.

So yeah, share videos because if you think the average person will bother to read the whitepaper you are dreaming.

I'm into social networking site like FB. That's when i joined social media campaign in one of the bounties i found here around and my friends started to noticed that i've been posting unusual in their sight. They asked me about what i am posting recently and that's it.

Either way, your medium of spreading Bitcoin knowledge is amazing.

Cheers!
874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can cryptocurrency make real money disappear? on: October 07, 2017, 08:23:39 AM
Maybe in the future if bitcoin will be legalized in all countries around the world. But pros and cons will always be there too.
Just think of those people who are not techie especially the oldies. Maybe they could not buy what they want if they go to a store alone without a techie companion.
875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who can destroy Bitcoin ? on: October 07, 2017, 07:45:08 AM
Call it termination, destruction or whatever may be, nothing can destroy Bitcoin except its creator.
But Satoshi Nakamoto is nowhere to found and that means Bitcoin will remain for centuries to come and will always dominate the cryptocurrency world.
876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHY OWNER IS HIDING on: October 07, 2017, 07:33:33 AM
Actually, I've been thinking about this for a long time now. Facts have it that Bitcoin was created by own Satoshi Nakamoto or so and since he did that he has gone underground and has been hidden. Now I'm wondering, I made an invention that is now worth so much money in the world and am still hiding, what could have been the reasons for his action??

My theory would be that he's fearing for his life in the sense that someone would like to copy the algorithm that he used in Bitcoin. Or maybe he's afraid that someone gonna forced him to make a prototype of his cryptocurrency and order him to destroy Bitcoin in exchange of his life.
877  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin won't live to see the next 10 years on: October 07, 2017, 07:26:55 AM
Quick Disclaimer:
1. I'm not here to support any shitcoin.
2. We're all gathered here because of bitcoin, so it's hard for me to see it fading way.

Bitcoin was designed not be fully anonymous since transactions were open permanently for the public to view.
Authorities and security agencies were able to trace the bitcoin owners based metadata and transaction pattern, history and so on.

Some developers understand this issue and they go ahead to create some new altcoins which they are fully anonymous by implementing new hashing algorithms on their very new altcoins such as Dash, Monero, Zcash and Zcoin.

So why the bitcoin "hard fork" instead of updating the original bitcoin core?
Forked coins like BitcoinCash & BitcoinGold are moving from ASICs to GPU mining for faster transactions, why not BTC?
Why not update bitcoin mining algorithm to Equihash (zk-snarks) like Zcash and the next upcoming Bitcoin Gold BTG?

Instead of updating the original bitcoin core to have more secure and fast transactions with lower xt fee, yet making hard forks!
I think hard forks will soon kill the original bitcoin.

What do you think, huh? Share with us what you think. thanks Smiley

I agree with this because despite the hard forks the mother of all cryptocurrency has encountered, it will always survive and will always will. I can't see it gone in the next 10 years but i see its value to balloon over a million each.

We may all gone but this long term cryptocurrency remains.
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: October 07, 2017, 07:22:09 AM
You can invest 1/3 of it to bitcoins, the other 1/3 to trading and the remaining 1/3 at the bank. But i think it's more profitable investing in bitcoins since its value is surging high despite it fluctuates sometimes. The risk is there but it's always a win-win situation at the end of the day.
