861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monacoin Price up nearly 150% on: October 12, 2017, 07:15:15 AM
To me monacoin is like the dogecoin in Japan. Other than hearing news about being listed in one of japan biggest exchange and poloniex
any other reason for this price rise? https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/monacoin/usd
I am betting that it is temporary!  Kiss

It is probably temporary to be honest.

The coin is completely community driven in my opinion and doesn't really have a bigger community than dogecoin, or have as big a volume as dogecoin on a regular basis. Yet, it is ranked at around 15 places above dogecoin on coinmarketcap.

Should just be a temporary thing. 180% per day gains are unrealistic for the long term, and an adjustment should come sooner or later.
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Russian Central Bank To Ban Websites Offering Crypto-currencies on: October 12, 2017, 07:09:19 AM
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-russia-cenbank-bitcoin/russia-turns-cold-on-crypto-currencies-idUSKBN1CF0RF

"Russia will block access to websites of exchanges that offer crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin, Russian Central Bank First Deputy Governor Sergei Shvetsov said on Tuesday."

How do you think the news of Russia banning crypto exchanges will affect prices? At the moment Bitcoin is up at $4900 and Ether is steady around $300. Is this like the China ban news?

How can we stop bans from spreading worldwide?

Nothing we can do as a community, other than making coins more decentralized so that governments can only ban websites and exchanges but not the infrastructure that is actually running the bitcoin network itself.

Personally though, this seems a lot like FUd, just like China as you said. People are speculating that China will ban bitcoin, but it clearly hasn't.

Seems to have no effect on bitcoin and altcoin right now, prices are still generally climbing.
863  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy the dip on: October 12, 2017, 07:06:54 AM
Typical retrace when the acceleration of the price is too steep and it fails to crush the ATH mark at first attempt. Well good news for these that still didn't buy, time to buy the dip and enjoy your $5000 coming near your soon. Clear ascending triangle still at work and if you get out now you will make a great mistake. We aren't going any lower. $4600 is the lowest attempt if you want to gamble to get as close as possible to the retrace. If you have been around the bitcoin game for long you should know that taking these chances is a mistake, just buy the dip, this big red candle will not last.

As predicted by you, today we see another shot at $5000.

Resistance is quite strong, as seen before. However, once this resistance is gone, we should not only see bitcoin rise above $5000, but potentially much further up than $5000, along the lines of around $5200-5300.

If there are any more dips below $4750, buy them.
864  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The best mixer for BTC? on: October 12, 2017, 07:03:44 AM
What's the best mixer to anonymise some coins?
i.e. in terms of reliability and cost.

Thanks, K

Chipmixer is the one to go at the moment, probably.

Even though it may seem like it is quite young, it's got a great team behind it and a very active support that is actively resolving issues. I know that they've also spent a lot of time advertising their service which is very unique(chip based, nobody else does it in the industry).

The only fee involved are the tx fees of the bitcoin network, or if you want to donate.
865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH to go bullish after Metropolis hard fork? on: October 12, 2017, 07:01:15 AM
It seems to be a very huge improvement as its the 3rd stage of Ethereum Cycle

From what i read
- Block time will be reduced and optimized
- POS integration time by time
- More flexibility of Smart Contract?
- Zero knowledge protocol

Is this the main benefits of it?

It is very possible that ETH might break the $400 ATH if the Hard fork are successful i guess
IF the hard fork is successful the the ATH could be achieved.

ETH has been pretty quiet and down a lot from its previous ATH and is due for a pump right now I think. Price shouldn't dip below 0.06 BTC, if it does due to panic sellers then it is probably a good short term decision to pick up some coin.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 5 crypto currencies to invest in 2018 on: October 11, 2017, 08:53:24 AM
Hello everyone, my first post here, hopefully I can realize my dreams with help of the community.

I'm planning to do an initial investment of $500 in crypto currencies. $100 for 5 separate crypto currencies. I'm thinking of XRP, Adcoin, maybe Ethereum and 2 more. Any advice related to the choice of coin?

My goal is to find at least one Unicorn which will generate me maybe $30k in the next years. Which coins would you invest most likely in to achieve this goal?

If you are only investing $500 then don't expect to gain $30k over a year. Even ETH did not rise by 60x in one year, and it is probably one of the best performing assets this year worldwide, even outside of cryptocurrencies.

Take a look at new ICOs, with such a small starting amount, ICOs are going to be probably the easiest way you'll be able to make a sizable amount of money.

Ongoing ICOs like EOS may be of interest to you.
867  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which hardware wallet 2017? on: October 11, 2017, 08:51:44 AM

Which hardware wallet do you think is the best to get in 2017? (price not important, security and ease of use is)

How do you know the manufacturer hasn't installed something malicious in the hardware wallet?

I saw a unanswered question on youtube saying, what happens if the hardware wallet chip fails can you get you bitcoin back?

I feel like Trezor is probably still leading the way here, with Ledger closely following.

You simply cannot. There is no 100% guarantee that whoever manufactured your wallet has tampered with it in order to steal coins from you, and it is always assumed that if they steal from you they'd simply lose out more in the long term(which could potentially be a myth).

If the wallet fails, then you really have to ask the manufacturer. It could be recoverable, could be not.
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Etherium's price by 2018-2019 on: October 11, 2017, 08:39:44 AM
Hi guys, im new to Etherium can anyone here give me some speculation with eth? Im guessing that it would reach up to 1000$ at 2018 and rise and rise because of more and more ICOs are getting into eth.

Cheers!

Well with the current uncertainty surrounding the regulation of ICOs, I have doubts about Ethereum price. Don't forget that before this year the price was only around 0.01 BTC, even though it has lost around half its value after the dump this year, it is still sitting at 6x that figure.

I think that price will stabilize at around $200-300, perhaps with some pumps along the way, but won't really last long enough to make a difference.
869  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 by 2018 is looking now like a possibility on: October 08, 2017, 06:24:19 AM
Price COULD go up to $10,000 or even more by 2018.

Price has already gone up so much this year and even though we are in another bull wave right now, i don't think that it is as strong as it needs to be to push the price up by 200+% once again, even in the best case scenario.

I don't think it's going to happen. But it is a possibility.
870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops & Forks: An ongoing, updated list of Altcoin Giveaways on: October 08, 2017, 06:10:37 AM
Does anyone know when the OMG airdrop for SingularDTV and Golem is going to come? What are the ratio of these airdrops going to be? If anyone can help me out here it would be greatly appreciated, thanks Smiley

Also, why is there 2 bitcoingolds? Will tehy have an airdrop for waves holders as well?
871  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ShapeShift.io and CoinMarketCap on: October 08, 2017, 05:52:18 AM
It's still possible to list Shapeshift on coinmarketcap if the creators of coinmarketcap really wanted to. They would just have a lot less information to work with since there is no real API possibility with shapeshift. Also, the value of altcoin actually varies depending on your order size.

Technically, since recent transactions are all listed in public, coinmarketcap could possibly get info from there. But that's gunna be a hassle and with an exchange with only 1200 BTC worth of volume daily, it's probably not worth it.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What will it take for Altcoins to climb again versus bitcoin like we saw in June on: October 08, 2017, 05:49:23 AM
Im just wondering if it is worth holding altcoins when they continue to all drop versus bitcoin since june.... just keep going further down, whats the point of holding, better off just keeping bitcoin offline. safe, secure and no risk of it totally crashing.

maybe some experienced users can explain the situations necessary to see altcoins in general climb back to strong levels versus bitcoin...

my guess is bitcoin has to stay at the same price for a while and eventually people will get tired and look for profits in alts?

i think that we'll see bitcoin dominance index climb against altcoins for a while to come.

It seems like altcoins only boom every once a year or so. So right now, things are cooling down a bit. ETH is down big time from its ATH, there has been a lot of dumps instead of daily 10% returns on your investment.

It's probably a good idea to turn most of your altcoins into bitcoins now, then buying when it's lower.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy BTC becasue of the fork or getting / holding atlcoins? on: October 08, 2017, 05:41:02 AM
Hi,

what would you do? Buying / changing to BTC because of the upcomming fork? ...isn't it like BCH that you will get the same amout of the forked currency as you have in bitcoin?

...or would u buy altcoins like NEO?

I'm not sure what will give me more profit

Depends on you. I'd say that bitcoin is going to be the safest bet however there is going to be plenty of ways that you can profit from buying altcoins as well. NEO may drop off a bit from here, before potentially climbing up to a greater level.

I think that BTC will first break $4500, then potentially hit around $4800 before a correction.

If you think that your altcoin investment is going to rake in more than that, go ahead. But i wouldn't buy neo right now.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My Crypto experience on: October 08, 2017, 05:38:32 AM
Your story is amazing.

However, i wouldn't really agree in buying any altcoin right onw. There is too much risk if you don't catch the pump and time it right because you can really get ripped, hard. Altcoin markets are very saturated and there are new coins coming out every single day.

Just because people don't talk about it now, doesn't mean they ever will.
875  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Bitcoin fork on 25 October on: October 07, 2017, 04:39:59 AM
What will happen in BTC bitcoin market when another fork hits bitcoin, results in emerging bitcoin gold as new coin
Will price of bitcoin go down
Will new coin get popularity like bch Roll Eyes

We could actually see bitcoin price rise after the fork, just like 1st August. However, the fork is likely to cause a lot less commotion and confusion than the bitcoin cash fork, since it is probably not as well advertised by the founders.

Price will not be overly affected by whatever happens with bitcoin gold since it is really just another altcoin after it forks, but if there is a bull market then it could actually go over the $4500 resistance that we are experiencing right now.
876  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Is Bitcoin's Value So Volatile? on: October 07, 2017, 04:38:00 AM
Why Is Bitcoin's Value So Volatile? I am confused to buy bitcoin now when it's value is too high.

It is traded without any limits on the free market, without any regulations. There are no unions or whatever to keep the prices artificially high or artificially low. Government has no influence on bitcoin's price. These are main reasons why bitcoin prices are volatile as it is.

However, we are seeing a gradual decrease in volatility.

This should continue to decrease as time goes on, imo.
877  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MinerGate Looks like a Ponzi Scheme to me. on: October 06, 2017, 10:59:22 PM
This could be possible. The fact that you can buy 80 BTC worth of mining power without having to pre-order or anything is extremely suspicious. Even Genesis mining a lot of the times run out of stock for their miners.

There is simply no mining farm with unlimited amounts of miners, and them being able to seemingly accept such big orders and start mining straightaway is suspicious. Though, terminating a contract before it expires is common practice in the cloud mining business, as long as the profits don't exceed maintenance fees.
878  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoinbank.22web.org - is it real? on: October 06, 2017, 10:56:49 PM
Looking at the interest rates alone this is a scam. 4% a day minimum is just unsustainable and no way someone would be able to afford to pay that.

And this is not even taking into account the fact that the site is hosted for free, the site looks like it's made by a three year old and there are alarm bells going off everywhere. Do not deposit anything into their scheme if you want to keep your coins.

880  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Debit Card will STOP on: October 06, 2017, 09:36:28 AM
Right now basically every single bitcoin debit card is backed by Wavecrest.

I know for sure that Wirex is going to switch over to a new provider. You can get their card at a fee or for free if you hold a balance with them right now(there may be specific limits, i'm not sure personally). Though there will be no new VCC.
