861  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: November 21, 2018, 04:21:30 AM
Still seeing "missing nonces" and "reset" even after trying at 100MHz and one at a time in the plugable. Do I need to turn the dial clock or counter-clock to dial in wattage for stability?

I've found that I have to run at 75 otherwise the unit get's to hot and like in the support thread says it will throw an error to protect your hardware. This is passive cooled, so no fan being used.

Well, I'm over this price crash. Anyone wanna join me in some drinks?

Absolutely.
864  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: November 20, 2018, 07:31:01 AM
Wow at 100 these run hot. I'll have to down clock for portability as I like to mine on my laptop or surface with the 2pac. Other than some sensitive finger tips though I'm camping happy.

866  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now that usb sticks are being sold by sidehack here is a new usb hub thread. on: November 19, 2018, 07:26:57 AM
Nice, I have six 2pacs on a kdata 10 port 12V hub running ok. A zombie here and there still. Sipolar has been more consistent though. Waiting for newpacs to arrive here this coming week and hopefully soon the GS hub sidehack has been talking about. I think I drool more at night dreaming about these lately.

We've watched this a little while. since May or so. Typically if emails go no where with a company, or "entity" we tend to stay away. Best to those who sank teeth into this.
868  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: November 18, 2018, 11:54:19 PM
My updates went fine for my s9i and s9 auto tune. No issues, hash rates are good 13.7 and 14.
869  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac Stickminer Official Support Thread on: November 18, 2018, 09:32:10 PM
Also this hub intakes 12 volts  from a brick.  I am pretty sure  that a gpu rig could mine these sticks along with gpu coins and you could tap the  atx psu for the 12 volts of power.

Pretty much the set up I have, newpac's are coming for us at mfb soon so I'll hope to sneak these home. Smiley

870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW BAIKAL MINER BK-G28 released. on: November 17, 2018, 06:38:19 AM
Just been reading through this thread and goodness does it sound dreadful.  I'm still looking for a  good opportunity to get in on an ASIC but so far they all seem so risky.

Guess I'll have to be patient and watch for now.

How do you have a legendary account and are not sure on asics? Not a troll, really asking.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Daily power cycle an s9 or l3+ ? on: November 17, 2018, 06:35:56 AM
A lot of Solar power guys do this. I find if you unplug the power cord from your internet router/modem first, the miners lose their internet connection and are disconnected from the pool. Wait a few minutes for the miner fans to cool them off, then switch off the miners and reconnect the modem/router power.

It's a bad idea to just switch them off while they have been mining and are heated up. Heat will kill your chips so let them disconnect from the router/modem and cool with the fans for a few minutes beforehand.
Chris B.

Do this and utilize and switched pdu.
872  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: November 17, 2018, 05:25:38 AM
If that is true I could prove it if  Japan gave me full authority to investigate it. But that is less likely then my 2 sidekick new pacs hitting back to back blocks. Grin

This made my day. Smiley
873  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: US Tariff Ruling N297495 = 2.6% mandatory tariff on bitcoin mining hardware on: November 17, 2018, 05:21:53 AM
There are multiple sections on the action from this year, the highest is 25% the lowest is 10%. Some came prior to late august, some after but nothing that would affect our area in mining before August. I believe you can find the date in the thread here somewhere.

I won't speculate on politics. 1) cause I don't care 2) cause who knows what these hacks do next.

The shipping company technically shouldn't release parcels till duties are paid. We're used to them expediting service as a benefit for consumers.

Someone requesting a ruling, and these insane tariffs essentially put light on the products and now duties known and required. Please do not ever, by any means requests a ruling. Instead, submit your own for approval by the CBP.

As a business you should pay your duties and file paperwork prior to arrival and just get it out of the way with the rulings at had. If things change you can resubmit if you're due credit otherwise most company's sit on the paperwork since they paid a duty already (typically).

As a consumer you might skate by, you might not. Probably not with a "trade war" as 2.6% can be negligible but 25% is not.

Please remember it's your responsibility to pay duties and most corporations have years and years of back log. It's a never ending process and inefficient as hell.

For Philip's situation if you're waiting for a bill and you know when, where, and how much for every parcel you can get ahead of it. Otherwise, estimate on your books hold those funds and get on with your business knowing you can tackle taxation for future and plan for your upgrades if ready.

Technically if you're importing it's your responsibility to submit proper paperwork not FedEx. I would gather the information on the ruling they used at time of import to the one they're attempting to collect on. Things to consider are: if you mine as a licenced business and how much you use FedEx.

Yea, get an invoice. Did they charge you duties when they were imported LY?

Will be nice to get market to swing back or on a run. I'm wanting to get my exhaust going and get some more units. My power bills from swapping to a commercial power rate from residential were about $200 less. Will be more now that 821's off practically permanently unless I want to pull heat into the house since it winter.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pangolinminer demanding extra payments for delayed Whatsminer D1 shipments on: November 16, 2018, 03:30:17 PM
Pre mining is one of the biggest issues with the industry. Kills trust, their consumer base, profits, and ROI for consumers. Everyday microbt mines on these the worse their reputation becomes and the more business they will lose long term. Regardless of the hype of who they have developing for them or new releases customers DO NOT forget poor experiences.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: November 15, 2018, 07:41:41 AM
Taxman always gets paid. One way or another. Either that or shipping company's black ball you, credit get rekt, etc if the amounts are high enough.
879  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: November 15, 2018, 07:39:16 AM
Yesterday I wrote up a roughly chronological 15-point master plan for the rest of the year. Work which will be used toward a pod miner were included in items 1-3, 6, 10, 12 and 14. There's development for some other fun stuff in there that I hope y'all also like.

I think my body is tingling.
880  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: November 15, 2018, 07:37:12 AM
Timing is everything, then there is price to market. GMO was doomed when they announced in what March-June ish? Way to long for a release. Even 60 days is too long now. Manufacturers will need to step up and deliver hardware that is the very best they can offer otherwise they'll get constantly trumped by the next release and so on, and so on.
