New Counterparty Timeline Highlights Platform's Milestones

The following link is an interactive timeline that includes all the major projects, tokens and developments that happened on Bitcoin's Counterparty platform between 2014 - 2023:

https://time.graphics/line/858561

It covers notable early tokens like TEST, SEBUH, OLGA, JPJA, and projects like NILIcoins, Spells of Genesis, Sarutobi, Rare Pepe, Bitcorns, and Kaleidoscope.

A lot of project/token creators had/have presences on the forum -- some are gone, but a few are still active, such as nili, who was one of the first people ever to experiment with tokenized art projects.

The timeline was developed by davesta, who is a Rare Pepe artist and now one of the most active Counterparty ambassadors. He's a real cool dude and if you're on Twitter I recommend giving him a follow.

There is of course a lot of hype currently surrounding Ordinals, leading a lot of people to believe that this was the first time Bitcoin had NFTs. Well, that's not true at all: Counterparty has been doing it since 2014 and continues to this day with projects like Fake Rares, Notable Pepes, Bassmint, and others.
862  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who is digaran Bitcointalk? (AI) on: November 22, 2023, 05:49:48 AM
Do you think this is a good summary of this troll?

Uh... I have a hard time believing this is real. Bing AI actually called somebody a troll? Seems like they would steer clear of doing anything that could potentially result in a defamation lawsuit against them, or even say anything bad about people. I asked it the same thing and it returned a totally different answer:

Quote
Digaran is a user on the Bitcoin Forum. They are involved in discussions about Bitcoin puzzles and cryptographic key cracking. They have contributed to topics such as “Pollard’s kangaroo ECDLP solver” and “Bitcoin puzzle transaction ~32 BTC prize to who solves it”. Please note that this information is based on the search results and may not fully represent the user’s activities or interests.

Can anyone else confirm it says "Digaran is known for being a troll"? Here is the website:

863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Shitcoin 3.0 - First Parody Token on the First Parody Blockchain! on: November 21, 2023, 07:01:38 AM
Hey, if you're gonna buy a real shitcoin, you should buy one that:

1) knows its a shitcoin,
2) has historical provenance, and
3) is super duper cheap.

This section is filled to the brim with shitcoins... You're gonna tell me you're seriously interested in them and not the Shitcoin? The original second third Shitcoin ever?

Here's how you do it:

1) Simply download & install the Dogewallet.
2) Send yourself a handful of Dogecoin (anywhere between 4 and infinity will work).
3) Send DOGE to the SHITCOIN dispenser address:

https://dogeparty.xchain.io/tx/b3ff46c2c233607c2cfd9d098a52111f8dc8515e0a77ddaa3ce4ee2c315da625

And voila, 100 SHITCOINs will be transferred to your Dogewallet address for every 3 DOGE sent! It's that easy folks. No intermediary required.

Let me know if you do and I'll load you up with some free goodies.

Experience the power of Shitcoin today!

Note: Open AI still states that content generated using their API should:
Quote
Social media, livestreaming, and demonstrations:
<…> •  Indicate that the content is AI-generated in a way no user could reasonably miss or misunderstand. <…>
See: https://openai.com/policies/sharing-publication-policy#content-co-authored-with-the-openai-api-policy

So even from the point of view of Open AI, user’s should credit the fact that the content is AI generated when it is. The problem obviously resides in proving it, but that does not give one a free pass on his intent.

Thanks for finding this and posting it... I spent a few minutes reading through the OpenAI terms and conditions the other day looking for something similar but didn't notice that clause.

I suspect we will continue to have lazy shitposters finding ways to skirt their ChatGPT copy/pastes from being detected by the detectors, rather than bothering to use their own brains to generate thoughts. Here's one such example:

Quote
Exactly! Casinos are designed to have an edge, ensuring they stay profitable. While some may have those extraordinary wins, for many, it's a game of chance with varying outcomes. It's essential to approach gambling with an understanding of the odds and acknowledging that in the long run, if we tend to lose big time, the casinos win big time.

Anyway, am i in profit? No. Do i still bet? Yes haha but am i in debt? No

Here you can see the post is buffered by original content ("Exactly!", and "Anyway, ..."). But the middle chunk is largely AI-generated.

Copyleaks: AI content detected
Hivemoderation: 100% likely to be AI generated
Sapling.ai: 100% fake

As a matter of fact I'm going thru this person's posts and will probably find a lot of them to report here. The Gambling section is chock full of such posts. Where will the moderators draw the line? We'll find out.

Dogermint Turns 2 Years Old!

That's right... I've been doing this for two whole years! I understand that this forum is just about the worst place to advertise my tokens or try to get people interested in Dogeparty in general, but I have to mark the occasion here anyway. Here is a thread on the Dogermint story in case anyone is interested in learning more about what we've accomplished:

(ps: there's a secret giveaway at the end of it... all you need is a Dogeparty wallet in order to participate)

The most entertaining aspect of this is that only one DT has since ~Vod.  Cheesy

I think theymos has been tired of the drama for years, and I don't blame him.

868  Other / Archival / Re: 1miau, meow why so serious? on: November 20, 2023, 03:41:36 AM
I'm of the opinion that people shouldn't be negged today for 5-year-old offenses, especially if they already have a negative (or more than one) for the offense.

For whatever reason I didn't notice digaran back then, but now I find his takes for the most part humorous and not overly annoying. Let's break down 1miau's trust rating on him:

Quote
digaran is a proven troll.

This much is true but this in itself is not a good reason to red tag somebody. Many (most?) of us that have been around for a while have been a troll in some capacity or another, at least briefly.

Quote
He is known for spreading lies, repeatedly harassing forum (DT) members + stirring shit (msg63185119)

I'm not sure about the "spreading lies" part, would need a clearer example than what is referenced in the trust rating. As far as harassing DT members is concerned, yes I believe that would constitute a negative, but only if they are being harassed about DT-related matters. "Stirring shit" is definitely more neutral rating territory.

Quote
and he's known for his past shady dealings. Not to be trusted.

Well the asking money for negative rating removal was certainly a faux pas, but again it was 5 years ago and I don't think another negative is warranted.
869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 20, 2023, 03:02:20 AM
I disagree with your point and your view about this coin.

Of course you do, you're in the signature campaign for it.

Do you mean to say he studied about Dogecoin AKA joke coin?

Yes, that's exactly right.

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1396916392629137409

He first noticed and talked about Bitcoin, am I right!

Everybody first noticed bitcoin. You may not be aware of this but bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency.

Now, numerous studies have now suggested that Bitcoin is far better in terms of energy consumption than others.

OK, name one coin that requires more energy consumption than bitcoin.

His point was to make meme coin more common as it doesn't come up with liabilities to solve real world problems. It is meant to be a joke and if the community of Eloncoin constantly bombards his X.com handle, he would eventually end up checking it. Isn't that what happened with Dogecoin?

No, not at all. Everything you just said is incorrect. He likes Dogecoin not just because its a "meme coin" but because it has 1 minute block times and low fees. Nobody was shilling Dogecoin to Musk before he decided to invest in it & help its development.
870  Other / Meta / Re: What's AI Written Post? on: November 20, 2023, 01:41:52 AM
Well, the problem is that using Artificial intelligence to create post is that it widely differs from the classic definition of plagiarism and the way it has been created for most of the history of humanity. You know, until not long ago it implies the copy/pasting and small modification of information which did not belong to us but try to fool others to believe it does.

If you post AI-generated text without crediting the AI, how is that any different from plagiarism? You are attempting to take credit for something that you didn't write.

The main problem is the origin of the information, if the AI was legally recognized as an author, then it would easier to accuse someone using it to generate content for their own purposes to be a plagiarist, on the other hand, it would also imply the AI itself is committing massive plagiarism.

For the AI to be committing plagiarism, it would have to be demonstrated that the AI is directly copying words from another source. It does occasionally do this, but not always.

Dogeparty to Get Curated Collection on Emblem Vault

After the successful transition of vaulted Rare Pepes to their own curated collection, the Emblem Vault team is setting their sights on doing likewise for Dogeparty assets. This will help assure that the contents of vaults match their descriptions, making it easier for anyone to locate assets that have been wrapped for sale on OpenSea (or other ETH-based NFT marketplaces). There are currently 454 vaulted Dogeparty assets, many of which are considered historical or vintage assets. Here are the top 10 most popular vintage assets to be vaulted (assets with issuances from 2014):

 - GOLDENSHIBE (82)
 - HAPPYDOGE (70)
 - SUPERSHIBE (39)
 - JOLLYROGER (36)
 - MILKYWAY (24)
 - HAPPYSHIBE (21)
 - BENGALS (17)
 - FLOWCOIN (17)
 - DOGEDIME (13)
 - NISSANGTR (13)

(just want to point out that 6 of these 10 are Dogermint assets and I'm quite proud of that fact)
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 19, 2023, 02:48:23 AM
At first I won't denied that I actually thought same thing too but after following up this I come to realization that doge coin and Shiba are the project which Elon has some influence on.

Nope, much like this coin, Elon doesn't give a f about SHIB (well he'd have to know about this coin in order to not give a f about it, and I'm almost certain he does not -- it has very little presence outside this forum). One time somebody asked him how much SHIB he held and he answered zero. Elon said he held BTC, ETH, and DOGE, and DOGE is the only coin where he's taken an active interest in its advancement.
873  Other / Meta / Re: What's AI Written Post? on: November 18, 2023, 04:09:53 PM
I feel that we need to update with some internal guidelines that should help the newbie come up and create topics that are AI-generated.
Why would that be needed? Asking an AI bot to write you a post on a topic or searching for that topic through Google or Bing is the same if your ultimate goal is to copy-paste the results and pretend you wrote it. The punishment should, in that case, be the same.

Absolutely.

On the other hand, if you created an ANN for a casino (since that's the example you made), and you mentioned in the sources that it's AI-generated content, you wouldn't be accused of plagiarism. That still doesn't mean you should do it because this is a forum for human interaction and exchange of ideas and thoughts. It's not and shouldn't turn into a place where bots talk to each other with humans only giving commands.

Yes, if its mentioned that ChatGPT was used to write the text, then its OK, because you are crediting the source (similar to putting a reference). It isn't great, and posts that are copy/pastes of articles or tweets with a "Source:" appended to the end of it usually suck to read... But its not technically plagiarism so the posters get away with it.

I don't know about everyone else, but when I start reading a text that is clearly AI-generated, my eyes just kind of gloss over the words... I have no interest in reading it because I know a human didn't write it. We should really do our best not to let the forum turn into a place where this is the norm.

For the first time since Week 5 I'm actually pretty happy about my lineup. But I won't go into depth about it lest I jinx myself. Achane is coming back after 5 weeks out. I'ma keep resting him though, just one more week...

As ChiBitCTy said, those injuries are disappointing AF... what can you do except adjust as quickly as possible. Speaking of adjustments, I think its kind of interesting that there seems to be a slight correlation between a team's number of moves and their league standing. Look at the Potatoes and the Barbarians, league leaders & 32 moves apiece... perhaps there's something to be said for that as a strategy.
875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to roll-back Ordinals? on: November 18, 2023, 02:37:15 PM
Mostly because colored coins never gain popularity. And some of it utilize OP_RETURN on single TX which is more efficient than ordinals.

This is true. As a collector of old blockchain knick-knacks I looked into it once and all the original Colored Coins protocols are dead. I tried messaging their creators and they never responded to me.

(Sure there are a large category of money-grab altcoin tokens as well, but it doesn't comprise *all* the network's tokens like the BRC-20 ones do.)

Point taken. The big difference is BRC-20 tokens can't offer any kind of functionality... They aren't being used for anything other than hot potato ponzinomics. I suspect we'll never see them gain functionality as it will be prohibitively expensive to move them around as compared to ETH (usually), MATIC or BSC. Besides, that's not what the players of that particular game are there for, anyway.
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 18, 2023, 11:08:01 AM
...
And yes I wouldn't invest into any coin where one holds such an large amount.

OK well there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth.

I will try to airdrop it slowly over time and spread it out, this should overtime improve the position, and reduce the problems in regards to this.

So this is your coin? You appear to have control over the website & GitHub repository; this along with the info in the quote above makes me believe that it is. Well man I gotta say, this is a real piece of horse excrement. But you do seem dedicated to making it appear less scammy. Probably should have built the entire website first and dispersed the master stash into more wallets before launching the sig campaign, which BTW, seems to have no quality control whatsoever.

Anyways, I'm sure the richest man on earth will someday show interest to this parody of his name.

I'm not so sure about that -- there's already a token with his name in it that he's never said peep about, Dogelon Mars... Its ticker is even ELON.

If you share some of that premined coins we will say that he "might" show some interest "someday", you know after all if we too have a cut, it'd be in our interest to say that.

LOL. Speak for yourself. Sometimes I wish I was shameless, I'd probably have a lot more money by now.
877  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Opinion The IRS Is Making Crypto Compliance Impossible on: November 18, 2023, 09:28:37 AM
I was reminded of this meme:

Several years back my state passed a ludicrous law that forbids any USA-based crypto exchange from servicing me as a customer (because the law's demands on exchanges are ridiculous), so what is being proposed is literally impossible for me to follow. I imagine there's at least hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Americans in a similar situation. As we discussed in the other thread, there's no way the IRS will have the manpower & resources to track us all down, and they will only go after the worst offenders (according to tax data they receive from complying exchanges).

thanks for the 4 merit  Grin

You ask some good questions larry, and seem to be interested in cutting-edge bitcoin tech & policy on your own accord, so you deserve every merit you get, even if it turns out you were a government mole all along Cheesy
878  Other / Meta / Re: What's AI Written Post? on: November 18, 2023, 09:13:53 AM
The forum doesn't have any specific rules on the use of AI bots, but it does have rules on plagiarism. If the admins deem that you have plagiarized, then you are in trouble regardless of whether you used an AI or took the content from elsewhere.
...
We need to make a distinction between what the forum allows/disallows and what isn't encouraged by the community.

I'm curious (and may open my own poll about it shortly), is there anyone who believes that posting unaccredited AI text isn't plagiarism? It seems to me the general consensus is yes, it is plagiarism, but I am potentially biased because that's what I believe as well.

Aside from one famous example (and kudos to Royse777 for his no-AI policy), I rarely see accounts removed from campaigns after getting caught posting AI. This could be because campaign managers are largely unaware of it happening -- usually at most people will leave a neutral trust rating for the offense, if anything at all.

So AI posters exist in a legal loophole right now:

- its often hard to know 100% for sure that a post is AI-generated
- its not considered plagiarism by moderator standards (as of the moment)
- there's no precedent for red tagging users for doing this.

An added "?" wouldn't hurt either.   just sayin

I'm skeptical of any account that addresses people as "dear".

Edit: @Hamza2424, I know you are currently evading a ban and that you are Cosmic Beyonders, SaimExch, Waleedzain323 and Waleedhaji... I'm sure you have several other accounts as well, some currently active.
