861  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just HODL on: January 05, 2024, 08:55:00 PM
As far as Bitcoin is concerned, I don't encourage trading, whether for beginners or professionals. If you have hit your maximum stash, then you can think of trading, but for the most part, it's just a hobby, so just hodl.

All these losses are because some people just panic at every little shift in expectations, whereas they know too well that they are gambling yet leverage with what they might not afford to lose.

Since we are still anticipating halving, the advice is to just hodl, which the supposed majority of us here already know or are doing already.
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kaspa or Ethereum Classic? on: January 05, 2024, 12:59:54 PM
As much as KAS is getting more attention, I don't really know how well it will perform in the future, so I can't really predict its future. Between Kaspa and Ethereum Classic, I can't really tell which one is going to be better than the other.

I think you should make comparison with this website https://walletinvestor.com/compare/ethereum-classic-vs-kaspa to know which is probably better.
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is GRIN still a thing? on: January 05, 2024, 12:22:36 PM
I don't really know what is the faith of the token but I believe it has become a 91% fallen crypto that might not come back to it's ATH. Grin has recorded $14 ATH but has not been able to return to half of the ath till date instead it has been heading downward to $0.08 in coinmarket.cap with this price I don't think it can be back as tokens like Monero has taken it's position in the crypto space.

The last hit that got GRIN to this situation was the 51% attack by miners whose identities where unknown and their took over 57% of the GRIN network and I believe it lead to it's last fall in price, you can check coindesk to read more about the attack.

OP, how do you really know about this tokens? your have been strange this days lol  Wink

Hello!

I supposed you have received alot of materials for studies and I hope you read them. Bitcoin knowledge is a very complex one that you really need to take your time and read through each of those materials and as time goings on you might find it difficult to condense some knowledge but you can come here to ask questions.

The problem beginners face is they don't really take there time to read but always in a haste to converse with minimal knowledge and I hope you won't be one of them.

Newbies - Read before posting, you can this read first, You should study each and every topic, and if you don't find the solution where you have difficulty understanding then you can post in the forum, then you will get the solution.
from my little understanding op isn't asking how the forum works but he/she wish to know about bitcoin. The link you drop could be helpful but not here, I advise you read thoroughly before dropping links as it might be considered spam in some discussions.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: January 05, 2024, 09:06:18 AM
I'm still surprised to see people say what if? whether is approved or not bitcoin itself is always fine with or without every other features that can help in increasing the price.

in as much as we want it approved doesn't mean if it goes side ways Bitcoin won't survive it has been in existence without the ETF so it's just an additional benefits for us.

Though if the ETF is not approved there will surely be a decrease in price for a while but after then it will bounce back to normal.
866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many individual holders of Bitcoin are there? on: January 05, 2024, 08:59:29 AM
They have been so many attempts to know how many people uses Bitcoin or own Bitcoin but it all failed because of the same reason Charles Tim has mentioned above.

According to chainalysis there have been over 460 million Bitcoin address recorded including both empty wallets but it doesn't determine how people holds Bitcoin in reality because two people can own a Bitcoin address (multisig wallets) and other reasons why we can't actually know how many people holds people.
867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We dont own enough bitcoin on: January 05, 2024, 08:39:15 AM
As much as it's good to have Bitcoin, I don't think we should have it to the extent that it will look stupid of us. Yes, we have a life to live, and this life isn't just for Bitcoin; we have other things to do. So why do we overexaggerate our buying of Bitcoin? Why not just buy what you are satisfied with rather than buy to impress someone that you have a lot of Bitcoin that you hold, whereas it's not for any meaning rather than impressive motives?

For me, I will just buy Bitcoin to a level that I'm satisfied with. I have a target, and as soon as I reach my targeted stash, I will rather buy for a short period (trade) in order to maintain my stash than buy to store it up again.
868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin fees and how we accept its volatility on: January 05, 2024, 07:47:39 AM
It's very good to see the high transaction fees go this low, the Brc-20 was a very negative effect on the Bitcoin blockchain that it lead to the use of alts for transactions.
Personally, I never had to complain even when the price was high because I never had Bitcoin to transact so I didn't complain. Maybe from now I could purchase a little for myself as the transaction fee is relatively low.

I just hope it doesn't jump back to a high price again!
869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 06:04:45 PM
The other day someone was talking about how he hates gambling as it nearly ruined his life, and within my mind I was like, no it was not gambling that nearly ruined you it was actually you that tried to ruin your life and that's because you refused to gamble responsibly and discipline yourself by not been capable of differentiating money meant for gambling from money meant for other projects in your life.

Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?

Please edit your post before it gets noticed by some senior colleagues that might not take it likely.
Here it's just same thing with OP's

Most times this things happens subconsciously, people don't really know there are making mistakes till it ends their lives. some might be gambling to the extent of ruin his or her life with out knowing that they have gotten to the limit they will need someone to help them get themselves back.

The reason why people do see the fault in others rather than themselves is because the feel they are right in there actions and refuse to take responsibility for it. Gambling is vice versa it's either good to you or bad to you it depends on individual responsibility anyone who is responsible enough won't let gambling ruin his or her life.
870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 04, 2024, 05:50:44 PM
For me I don't record my winnings or loses I just gamble but I know that most times i win because I haven't been too greed unlike when I started gambling. I just go for the little things and I do loss too but if I loss I don't go after my losses.

I haven't been gambling recently because I'm into somethings that are taking almost all my attention but within last 2 months i suppose I won more because I was only gambling or playing games.

Your ideal is a good one it will even unlock some people's potentials of winning regularly, maybe when someone who knows how to predict uploads a booked bet we can just follow up and place a bet too. But what I don't know is if such ideal or thread has been in existence without my knowledge but if you succeed with that I guess I will be visiting that thread regularly.
871  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which Casino and Sportsbook have the best UI? Which others can improve? on: January 04, 2024, 05:27:33 PM
Practically, it's not possible to use all casinos at the same time or be updated about all casinos to know about the new UI updates. So we just stick to the one we use regularly. If you're not comfortable with the UI of the casino you use, you can change to another one or test a few to find a better one for yourself.

On a personal level, I have been using BCGames and LiveCasinos not because I like the UI but because it's easy for me to deposit and withdraw at anytime, which is one major consideration I put forward before using any casino.
872  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Hand work and skill or well paid government employee on: January 04, 2024, 04:37:32 PM
Having a skill is as good as getting a government or non-government-paid job, but it's all about individuality. I might love to work for the government, and you might want a self-employed job. The situation in our country has shifted the quest for jobs to a skill interface, but the truth is that whatever makes you comfortable should be what you most go for because there is no amount that any job can pay you monthly that your skill cannot pay you.

These two categories of jobs have both disadvantages and advantages, so we just have to choose the one that we are most comfortable with. For me, I just prefer handwork to government employment because I control everything that happens around the business. In fact, let's say I like freedom, so it depends on the individual.

Among the 3 factors you mentioned, they are all correct from your perspective, but from my view, a poor background doesn't hinder anyone. learning their desired skills because there are skills that you don't need to register to learn, or you can just adopt the method of the Igbo tribes to serve for a few years and get your desired skills and business ready.
873  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Who is an educated Person? on: January 04, 2024, 03:49:02 PM
Firstly, there is a misconception about education. People seem to take education to mean having a total number of degrees or certificates from a school or institution, whereas education is not the western way of learning. People seem to have accorded education to be the western way of learning; sitting in a room called class for several years and having attended some questions in tests and exams means you're educated.

Education, in its original meaning, is to bring out or rear up. Education is divided into classifications, levels, etc. In the classification of education, we have formal, informal, and non-formal education, which means what is regarded as education is just a part of education. Those from the streets are educated people too, but just an informed education because they were not taught in a formal building called school, but they have a special education from experience gathered every day.

An educated person is someone who has been brought out of ignorance or has been reared up to knowledge on one thing or another. The more information you're exposed to, the higher your education, so an educated person isn't ignorant of one thing.
874  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Who should be held responsible for the problems of the society on: January 04, 2024, 03:08:24 PM
Basically, nobody is the problem of society, but everybody is the problem of society. If we dive deep into how society is now operating, you will find out that even the slightest person is involved in the so-called societal problem one way or another, from the commonest taxi driver or okada rider to the president, who is corrupt. So how then do we expect one particular sector of society to take the blame? If we can change our own ways from the smallest crime we commit that seems normal, then the whole society could change from our changes.

Moving forward, I don't blame anybody for whatever is happening in society. Evolution brought us this situation. Back then, when the world was in a primitive society, there was nothing like cyber crime and everyone lived happily, but now the internet has brought it's good to us, but normally in every society there are also good and bad people, so the ones who made use of the flaw of the internet are the people we believe are at fault for the misbehavior of the society, whereas they are not the problem; the problem lies in the root.

For a nation to be free, they have to first know the root of their problem. In our nation today, the problem isn't the people, but our problems are the foundation of our country. From the time of colonialism on, societal problems began. The ways of life of the colonial masters that were introduced to us brought us to these societal problems, from the introduction of Christianity to Islamic religion. I won't go deep into that today, but the problem in our society today isn't what we think it is.

Back to the situation at hand, the aunty is not to blame, the mother is not to blame, and the fraudsters are not to blame. Like I have said before, none of them is to blame, but all of them are to blame.

Even if there is no work in the country or no job for the unemployed to engage in, it's a personal decision to go into fraud. There are lots of things that one can do instead of fraud, but they all decided to go into fraud because of their greed, so the fraudsters are responsible for their actions, which means they are to blame in that aspect. The government, too, is to blame for not providing jobs for its citizens.

I would love to go further, but I will be visiting this thread regularly to explain more reasons why everybody is to blame.
875  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Their is nothing too special about the future, INVEST NOW. on: January 03, 2024, 11:01:28 PM
For sure, we no need to procrastinate for anything whether na for Bitcoin matter or other businesses we need to do things as e dey hot. Just as CryptopreneurBrainboss don talk say make you no gree for any body this year, make we no gree for Bitcoin this year too munt the Bitcoin back to back. As you dey chop food make sure say you bitcoin wallet too dey chop Bitcoin make una two grow together.

Na procrastination be one of the major problem wey we dey face if not most people for don succeed for life but Dem just dey say them go do am tomorrow from there the tomorrow no dey finish till e turn to regret. But as Bitcoin dey our door step now make we no try miss am, even if e no change your life forever e go open wey for bigger chances wey go change your life better.
876  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Dangers of the internet on: January 03, 2024, 10:44:34 PM
It's true the internet has so much information about us and if this informations enters  the wrong hand it will be very dangerous, i don't believe that there is a safe place in the internet not at all, we are only promised a little security or privacy but not total privacy. If companies decided to release the information of its users then we would not be safe at all.

There are places that they promise us encrypted messages or activities but it's not still encrypted, it only hidden to us but to people that can access them it's not. Have you held of the dark web this place people's identities (internet activities)/information are being sold or hacked activities are being traded for money. If we read the terms and conditions of each service we use online you will find areas that they said that our privacy is determined by governments if it's required by the right authority then it will be surrendered.

Even with the suggested search engines that seems private if looked into the activities will still be uncovered.
877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey has started again on: January 01, 2024, 09:26:18 PM
In as much as you have invested in Bitcoin before but had an ugly experience I hope you have now you've learnt the necessary things that most guide you through your entire time of holding. I supposed you sold out your Bitcoin for personal reason maybe as a result of not putting other expenses in place.

Hence make your investment time more stable by having an emergency fund that can serve you well for all your necessary life activities. As time goes on prepared yourself not to be keeping you holdings on exchanges or third-parties especially when you have a good quantity of Bitcoin already even it's not too much but as soon as you have an amount that is worth more the half a thousand or less than half a thousand then you should think of having a self custodial wallet to be in control of your investment. As most have suggested you should increase your stash also be do not be in a haste for quick profit or as most people night suggest you trade don't get into gambling with your funds.
