8621  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which exchanges use proper security? on: January 27, 2019, 05:40:55 AM
If you think logically, launching a dex is against his main centralized exchange, so there must be something that will allow Binance to still make profit in form of fees or something. On top of that, how decentralized is decentralized? I don't trust any of this because you don't shoot yourself in the foot like that, especially with how their Binance brand will organically direct a lot of users to their dex.

I believe Binance DEX is just another name for Binance Exchange. I'm pretty sure they will implement KYC/AML as IDEX does. A vague answer by CZ regarding KYC give clear indication that this DEX won't be what many people expected.[1] So the only difference is we don't have to deposit our crypto to Binance (in theory) to trade[2], but the rest will be the same.

Just another way to make more money and kill competitors to gain more volume.

8622  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptocurrency and Shopify on: January 27, 2019, 05:14:27 AM
It's not ICO related. I will accept EUR as my fiat currency and I discovered that I can accept cryptocurrency as well (btc, eth, ltc) going through Coinbase. And I don't mind to accept crypto. But in the Facebook Ads I was thinking to specify that alongside Fiat currency I will be accepting CryptoCurrency as well. On my short search I haven't found people accepting crypto on Shopify (I'm sure there will be someone though). I'm not promoting ICO or register to get 10usd or anything like this. But the doubt passed my mind

Use general wording like "pay with fiat or other currencies that you like". It is not directly talking about crypto and it cause some short of curiosity to the readers, which will know what you're talking about when they visit your shop. I believe this won't cause any problem with Facebook Ads policies.

8623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ASK] Where i can learn/read more about bitcoin ETF? on: January 27, 2019, 04:58:22 AM
The shutdown is over now, there may be an issue in three more weeks but I doubt it will come to that. Looks like we can start being disappointed in ETF results again!

Never have any expectation about ETF since the end of last year. I believe they'll continues to postpone this till next year lol.

The only reason it hasn't passed has been the first one you stated, that it can be manipulated, but this is a bullshit answer and we all know it just look at oil. The big players are just orchestrating their moves, simple as that.

Correct, oil is manipulated by those who can control the supply. I'm not sure why this manipulation reason is being used again and again while there is an exact historical proof that shows us manipulation is almost impossible to prevent. Instead of making sure an asset is not prone to manipulation, why not design how the market can prevent/decrease the possibility of manipulation?

@OP if you want to read/learn more about Bitcoin ETF, Google is your friend. I'm not sure which source is credible so you can start reading one by one. But maybe you can stick to Investopedia, or something similar.
8624  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Hardware wallet portfolio tracker – all coins/tokens (using XPUB ?) on: January 27, 2019, 04:31:33 AM
I am looking for some app which will list all the coins and balances just by importing XPUB key (if possible?)

AFAIK there is no app that can do that for you. Your best alternative would be to manually add the address that you use into a portfolio app like Coinstats. The problem is, you need to pay if you want to add more than 2 address.

Recently I have discovered this website that allows you to track  balances of some coins
http://www.homebitcoin.com/easybalance/

The coins supported here is limited and I'm pretty sure we also need to manually add the address, not the xpub.
8625  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: KYC challenges on: January 27, 2019, 03:56:42 AM
People doesnt want their personal information to be given thats why they choose crypto as an investment.

No, most of them want to get rick quickly and that's why they choose ICO.

But if you look to the other side, you will see that within this vast world of internet, giving or asking for some of your personal informations are necessary for your security. Its not always negative, sometimes its way better.

That depends on who ask your information. I don't believe anyone who never told me who are they first before giving my personal details. I made a lot of mistakes previously by giving personal details to anonymous exchange which eventually went down. I don't know what will they do with my data in the end, but I keep praying it won't be used for illegal activities. I'd avoid KYC at any cost, and try to use an alternative option if it's available.

I really hope we can solve this option by making our "KYC" as signature verification, just like Bitcoin/PGP message. That way I only need to send my KYC hash or message which can be verified by anyone in the world. Governments around the world should work together to provide a global hash identity ledger.
8626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cost of STO token on: January 26, 2019, 01:25:37 PM
What is the average cost to design a security token? With or without investor dashboard?

Designing a security token does not have any relation with investor dashboard/app/whatever you called it. STO token is basically the same as your usual ERC20 ICO tokens. I believe designing the token and building an app for the investor is a separated issue. If we talk about the budget, I don't think it will be really different from the current ICO budget, it will depend on how complex your dashboard/apps will be.

With that said, there are several resources detailing the budget to run your STO, like this[1] or this[2].

8627  Other / Meta / Re: How to check potential activity of bitcointalk account? on: January 26, 2019, 12:53:18 PM
Is his old site opensource?

His code is open on GitHub, TryNinja posted it on the #2 post.

If OP still wants to look for an alternative then you might want to try iasenko Rank & Activity calculator. Again, this assumes the account post at least once in 2 weeks.[1]

8628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN-ICO-AIRDROP] HARA 🌐 Empowering Billions Through Data, One Byte At A Time. on: January 26, 2019, 12:24:38 PM
So they only sell nutrient tokens there? not to be traded? and what are the targets that will be sold on the tokenomy platform? and is that the final stage of selling ico?

Nutrient tokens? What are you talking about?
Of course, it's going to be traded, and again there is no further ICO, it's already finished. I don't know how you miss that when I clearly write something like this:

The sale is over, there will be no more token sale. The ICO was done on Tokenomy launchpad. I believe s/he means that HARA will be tradable on exchanges after the sale is over.

The field agents are paid with fiat, they can earn up to 700USD per month, they just need to put in the work. You can read this article on How HARA creates jobs for anyone with a mobile phone

I don't know if my reading skill is bad or not but I've read the article before and I still don't find explicit information that they'll get paid in fiat, only "up to 700 USD per month", which can be interpreted as paid in fiat or tokens/crypto.
8629  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Localbitcoins sell via bank deposit on: January 26, 2019, 11:45:32 AM
Thanks for any advice / details. (I wanna never use a centralized exchange again)

May I know why? While a centralized exchange is not ideal, I believe it's in some case safer than dealing with in Localbitcoins. You can also use escrow in this forum when you want to buy/sell bitcoin, there's a lot of reputable escrow here that can help you. If you are not in a rush and don't want to use centralized exchanges, trading via escrow in this forum might be a good alternative.
8630  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com outgoing fee optimization on: January 26, 2019, 08:02:41 AM
Just today I payed only $0.07 for a transaction worth around $50 which was performed in less than 10 minutes! No accelerators, just a premium fee which is nowadays extremely low.

You can do the same thing with Electrum, or core tbh. The speed of the transaction is not related to which wallet that you use, and there's a better guarantee that the fee you set on Electrum will be the same fee that you paid to for your transaction.

Why not to use this website instead? I feel safe keeping my btc there and performing transactions whenever I need to.

I'm surprised that anyone still uses blockchain.com as their wallet, not to mention any risk of a phishing attack and something like that. You don't store your BTC there, you 'store' your Bitcoin on blockchain and you use a wallet to access it. I prefer a way that is more secure, like Electrum for example.
8631  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [INFO][GUIDE] Waktunya menggunakan SegWit address/wallet on: January 26, 2019, 07:37:00 AM
1. Apa web wallet (blockchain.com dsb) masih belum bisa menerapkan segwit address?
2. Kenapa agan lebih menyarankan p2sh segwit dibandingkan bech32/native segwit?

Quote
Format alamat SegWit

1. Diawali dengan angka 3 (P2SH SegWit)
Kelebihan : Bisa dikenali oleh semua wallet/exchange
Kekurangan : Ukuran transaksi sedikit lebih besar dibandingkan Bech32

2. Diawali dengan kata bc1 (Bech32/Native SegWit)
Kelebihan : Ukuran transaksi paling kecil dibandingkan lainnya
Kekurangan : Tidak dikenali/didukung oleh semua wallet/exchange

8632  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which exchanges use proper security? on: January 26, 2019, 06:25:00 AM
exchanges are opaque about their security practices for good reason but as customers, we're left guessing. we can easily rule out those who have obvious publicized security lapses or pathetically bad front-ends, but that doesn't tell us all that much.

Only the government can request or inspect them thoroughly (at least that's the case in South Korea). But this also creates another problem of trust as we don't exactly know whether the report is objective or not.

Some alternative might be using exchange with open source code like Open Trade, but there's a lack of development and a lot of security issues on the current open source exchange. DEX also lack liquidity, so in the end, we have to trust exchange at some point.

8633  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Fplus.ai on: January 26, 2019, 06:05:27 AM
I think they are a front of house for https://genesistrading.com/

Where did you get this information? And how did they contacted you in the first place?
If I were you I'd avoid this kind of algorithmic trading platform that offers profits without any reputation (no public information at all). Why don't you use GunBot or other services, like Caspian if you want to use sophisticated tools across many exchanges?

Forget this site, I believe they'll scam you sooner or later.
8634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CoinStar: turn coins into BTC on: January 26, 2019, 04:23:56 AM
CMIIW, It seems like if you want to buy Bitcoin you have to use cash[1] and then redeem it on Coinme. So then, you need to bring your coins, exchange to cash and then buy Bitcoin with it, or something like that?

Sounds ok to me, but the fee is too big, 11.9%.

8635  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Report: In Indonesia legal Bitcoin is based on commodities on: January 26, 2019, 04:02:38 AM
But they can't ban localbitcoin right so people will be still able to make bitcoin to fiat or vice versa until they can be able to find the sellers and buyers.

@joniboini
LBC is a regulated third-party platform (and later implemented KYC), thus, I cannot totally consider it as a P2P exchange.

I'm not sure why you guys considered me talking about Localbitcoins. Did I mention it in my post? I don't even recall writing about Localbitcoin here.

I'm talking about P2P, like peer-to-peer exchange as a way to trade, such as exchanging Bitcoin here on the forum, or using Telegram, or directly face-to-face. We've been able to do that since years ago and I'm sure it will be difficult for the government if they want to eradicate it. That's what I'm trying to say.
8636  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia hack leads to ‘significant losses’ on: January 25, 2019, 01:45:18 PM
And how could they leave their private keys or mnemonics on a server with access to the internet...
Pen and papers is still the safest way to backup passwords.
I hope the hackers only had access to the Ethereum wallets.
I gave you 1 smerit. My last one...

I don't really know how Cryptopia handles their private key, but I'm pretty sure even the most secure exchange won't use pen and papers. It's not fast enough and even gave practical problems when they need to move and manage their wallet. Still, that doesn't mean they should leave it online either.

Let's hope the hacker(s) only hack their hot wallet, because if it's not, then Cryptopia is really doomed.
8637  Other / Meta / Re: How to check potential activity of bitcointalk account? on: January 25, 2019, 01:19:59 PM
Is there some application, script or maybe some method to check or calculate potential activity of Bitcointalk account?

If you want to do some manual work:

1. Find when the member is registered.
2. Find what date is today.
3. Do a simple math = (date_today - date_registered) / 14 (rounded to the smallest number)

That's the potential activity, assuming the account always post at least once in 2 weeks / 14 days.

If you don't want to, then use achow code.
8638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: is it possible to store the blockchain in two different hard drives? on: January 25, 2019, 12:20:35 PM
Blockchain is actually stored on many hard drives (replicated) and they 'work' simultaneously. The blockchain is simply a file/database, you can store and copy it many times.

If you're talking about running a node and then split your blockchain file to two different address, I doubt it's not possible because blockchain is stored in a single file, blk*.dat (in Bitcoin). If you split it (that single file) into two (not sure how you did this, I assume you'll split it and therefore break the data, just like a broken zip file) you won't be able to use it because it's corrupt. You can read further here[1].

That's what I understand at least, maybe someone smarter than me has a different opinion.

8639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So I told my banker about bitcoin on: January 25, 2019, 12:08:26 PM
As far Bitcoin wallet is concerned it is technical stuff

Tbh I don't think Bitcoin is that technical (for daily usage). While it's true it is required to have somewhat deeper knowledge to fully embrace the tech, to be able to use it regularly we don't have to do that. For example, to create an address, you don't have to understand how BIP32 works, they can simply open Electrum, generate a new address and so on.

This technical barrier is quite low tbh. We don't have to spend hours learning about it.

8640  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmoneytalk.com - Social Network for Crypto Enthusiasts on: January 25, 2019, 08:37:53 AM
Thank you for your appreciation. You are correct I really need a big budget to achieve a good result. I'm thinking of giving rewards worth of bitcoin weekly so that many users would join the platform. Also, I'm thinking of giving rewards to those who would invite to come to the community(like an afffiliate).

Be careful with this strategy. I've known several forum which starts their advertisement by giving away/running a campaign dead after the campaign is over. I'm pretty sure organic traffic will come to your site when someone can find something unique which is not replaceable or can't be found on another site.

Anyway, good luck with your project.
