True. Real-world example here is what happened to me a week ago:

The kids got into the mining room and bumped the power cord or something on my 741, which knocked it out for the whole afternoon.

After that valley dropped off the back-end of the 5Nd, my Shift Graph's avg bumped up 0.1TH/s...

In retrospect, maybe I overreacted just a little bit in giving my kids up for adoption after they did that. Sure is quiet now, though. Wink

hahaha that is funny as hell. Smiley all i know is with the LPM issue I was not looking to have any less shares on my shifts or even having zero shifts Smiley

Does this update include S9i and S9j?

no this is for the S9 only  not the S9i S9j

5-6 hours at slush would be zero payment after bout 90 minutes.   It's there for a reason.

5-6 hours on any pool makes a difference. some less than others for sure and some more as well.

if you wanna ged rid of decreasing hashrate just disable asicboost in webinterface. no need to downgrade

when i was using it, the hash rate still decreased whether LPM was checked or not.

Yay! Our good ol' buddy 1FX brought us home a block! Thank ye, sir.

Yep! hell of a way to start the month, with a block less than an hour into the day!

I just happened to still be up. My damn cable company pushed out a firmware update to my router - every time they do that, it causes havoc as the wifi is disabled and I have to log into the router directly and turn the wifi back on. I have several switches that are hooked to range extenders - I found this easier than running hundreds of feet of cat5 cable everywhere.

But I was happy to see the block! made me go faster to get my network back up, just in case we had another block right after lol

The good thing about 5Nd is if we hit a block while your wifi is down you would not lose anything...it would be just a blip on your HR chart! Cheesy

This is our 1st of BLOCK NOVEMBER! Cheesy

Time to get the block party cracking! Cheesy

can lose a little though as my overall contribution would drop - especially if I had not caught it before bed, then it would have been offline for 5-6 hours.

out of curiousity - is slush ever going to issue the NMC rewards? Last was in like January or February if I recall
8708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Things You Can Buy with Bitcoin on: November 01, 2018, 12:55:44 PM
you can use btc with Microsoft (for windows app store and xbox store), overstock.com (since January 2014), expedia.com (since June of 2014), egifter.com, newegg.com, all shopify merchants have the option of accepting bitcoin (since November 2013), Dish (satellite service) (since August 2014),  https://www.roadwaymoving.com/ (since 4th quarter 2017), http://pizzaforcoins.com/ - where you order your pizza and pay with bitcoin (actually accept over 50 different cryptos) - they then relay the order and pay cash for your order so you can use crypto, intuit labs software using their "PayByCoin" service

the list goes on and on.

You can even get a bitpay visa card - I do this, I put my BTC in a bitpay wallet, when I want to buy something it gets xferred from the wallet to the card and I swipe the card anywhere Visa is accepted and I am essentially paying with BTC for that transaction. I spend over 1k USD this way each and every month.

Yeah  I am taking a shot and pointing it to this pool.

http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

the odds are slim

could use Nastypool as well - its not fully solo as there are a couple of people in the pool but I dont think they have found a block since May.

well, you get a reward once we find a block. We have not hit a block for going on 7 days (152.5 hours) also you have diminished rewards as you ramp up - I think that takes about 7 days.

Ramp up takes 5 block finds.  Normally, if we have 100% luck, that is on the order of 7 days, but it could be 3 days, or 10 days, or ...  whatever it takes to find 5 blocks.

wait, its 5 blocks to get ramp up? from the way it was explained to me was that it was between 7-8 days or was it 6-7 days? I was receiving full reward after like 3 or 4 blocks
The 'ramp up' is 500% Difficulty = 5Nd

If luck was exactly 100% then that's 5 blocks.
The time of 5Nd is shown on Help->Payouts - it depends on the size of the pool and the network difficulty - which both change often.
The number of blocks found during that 5Nd has no bearing on it at all.

That is what I thought, so it is only 5 blocks if luck is exactly 100% otherwise it's about 7 days

Which is under 5 cents a kwatt.

ahh gotcha, yea that is a good deal!

it keeps disconnecting though so I sent it back to kano.is for now - I will try with another miner later and set it up to point to both nodes - If I recall there were only two to choose from.

Yes, there’s a US and a European node. If you let me know what node you’re having issues with, I can request they restart it for you. Perhaps that may resolve the issue.

will let you know when I try another miner.

I am using a single S9 with bitmains software - it only did it 3 times so far, if it continues, I may move it back to another pool. I have quite a few miners I move around. To some degree, I do not mind supporting decentralization Smiley though it would be nice if the payout it is currently showing was real - I would move all my miners here lol. My miner is up to like 0.00072248 BTC already after less than an hour.

You’re likely referencing the expected amount should a block be found. It could be a long wait with the current p2pool state. Make sure you are aware of the odds of finding a block. You may want to try using a different NastyPool node, or setting the other node as a backup, so if you did drop from one node, you’d resume with the other. It’s never a good idea to rely on a single pool regardless of what pool that is.

yes - expected should a block be found. I spread between quite a few pools with quite a few miners. I am currently on 7 different pools with ranging from 1 miner to 5 miners per pool.

is this pool still active? I configured one miner to it and it showed hashing in the antminer Miner Status screen for all of about 30 seconds and then went blank. my miner showed up on the ticker but shows 0 which makes sense as the miner stopped mining after less than a minute.

not as I typed this, it reconnected and started hashing again, then stopped again...

is this the norm with this pool?

NastyPool is still active and looking at the current user charts, I don’t see anything that appears out of the ordinary.

What miner/software are you using? Also, you should be aware that mining on p2pool is very risky currently as the hashrate is quite low. It is possible that no blocks will be found for a period measuring in years. If supporting decentralization isn’t something you are willing to sacrifice reliable earnings for, you may want to consider another pool. At least until some issues with the currently splintered p2pool networks improve.

yep that is the Nov FW - not sure why your other ones will not flash back. I did on the update on half a dozen and converted all back with no issues.

I have tried to flash the old Nov 2017 firmware 3 separate times....but the new firmware is still on my S9.  Can't seem to get the old firmware to install.  Fortunately I only installed the new on fewer than 10 of my S9s but would like to change them back until this decreasing hashrate issue is resolved.

Anyone have an idea what I might be missing/doing wrong?

Downloaded the file from Bitmain, click on system" tab, then "upgrade", then "choose file" (the old firmware file shows in the "file chosen" box), and then I click "flash image".  S9 appears to act like it is flashing but when it is available same new firmware image is still there!!

Thanks

let me ask this - was the nov version what you had prior to upgrading to the 10/23 version? there are some previous S9 firmware versions for the mines with fixed values - could you have been on one of those?
