1) Can we have a client that changes hardware depending on the necessary algorithm?
           Device profile asic for sha-256
           Device profile gpu for scrypt+sha-256

I think someone would have to create that on their own, unless flounder (or someone else) created an app that would interface with the server and automatically close/launch the miner with the appropriate flags when it goes from scrypt to sha-256 coins.

A random question:  I'm pretty sure on one of the rounds I entered one of my BTC addresses instead of my DVC address.  I guess I was subconsciously hoping the five DVC would miraculously turn into five BTC (LOL!)

So... where are those devcoins now?  In general, what happens to cryptocoins that get sent to an address for another cryptocoin?

I'm not too concerned about recovering five DVC.  I'm more curious than anything.

Your question makes me wonder the same thing. I assumed they would be added to the blockchain anyways but would never be claimed (since the address won't exist). Would love to hear though!
8723  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase account hacked? Has this happened to anyone? on: June 14, 2013, 05:04:37 AM
I apologize for the comment above, wasn't anything malicious.

42BTC was stole? That is scary. Someone has infected your computer without a doubt if your pw was what you are saying and 2nd auth was in place.

I truly feel sorry for you. Was there any new sites you used or members links you clicked?

No hard feelings, I didn't take it in the wrong way at all. I have most definitely scanned for any sort of malicious software and haven't heard a peep. My system is clean and I do not actively browse while I am trading (especially today, I didnt even have a chance with those sell offs!)

I am hoping to get a better idea over/after the weekend once coinbase has had a chance to take a look at what went down.

Well good luck with this overall. I know I would have broken my monitor if this happened to me.

Maybe this is the perfect time for coinbase to build some great publicity and refund at least partially what was stolen.

I really appreciate it. I actively browse here on bitcointalk and haven't heard anything like this happening so it was the first place I wanted to ask. I can't imagine I would be the only one, but this may very well be the case. I would never wish this experience on anyone else in the first place!

I feel you! If it makes you feel any better, I've sent multiple tickets to CB to better understand policies and such, and they have been awesome at explaining things thoroughly and being patient with me.

$0.05/kWh?  Are you actually *in* the middle of nowhere or can you just see it from there?   <G>

No, it's what his mom is charging him.  Grin

My electric bounces around a bit... our company is a "co-op" so basically it's a non-profit electric company. Pretty cool, but that's because we live in the middle of nowhere.

It also means voting rights in anything the company is doing, though we've never taken part in any of that.
8725  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitVegas and BitcoinGet Partnership on: June 14, 2013, 05:01:01 AM
Does this also mean that the earnings go straight to Bitvegas instead of to a BTC payout address?

This gives BitVegas players an easy way to have earnings made go straight to their BitVegas account. We may also have promotions in the future that are restricted to BitVegas players.

For all other users, you are still able to use your BTC address.

That's an awesome benefit! It also helps cut down costs on the users since they don't have to have the payout go to them, then transfer it over to BV. Huge +1 from me!
8726  Economy / Services / Re: FREE BTC! BTC Faucet Timer/Rotator! on: June 14, 2013, 02:16:14 AM
Just did a round and will report back after they pay. Small amount but its free so no complaining here.

Thanks for the list, will be great if everything works like its supposed to.

They do all pay except one (NewbCoins -- they are keeping the list of BTC addresses so all requests ARE counted and should be paying out soonish).

The rest though... some require a minimum amount before cashing out, and many use the service coinbox.me (which also has a minimum payment amount but it's pretty easy to hit since a lot of faucets use them).

The minimum payment amount is because there is one enforced by the Bitcoin network now.

Can you at least post the address it was sent to or the blockchain transaction?

If not I call BS

A random transaction could just be pulled and be given as "proof" though, so that doesn't really prove anything.

Well if it was me I would of posted the address it was sent to in the OP so idk. Might be real, might not. In all reality it doesn't matter to me.

It just bothers me because there is so much libel going on in these forums that it's hard to tell what is real and what isn't anymore. Apparently every site/coin/service is a scam. Every person here is a scammer. And no items actually exist in the real world.

It's like we're in an alternate dimension.

Well it seems like you would include that wouldn't you? I mean how can you just make a claim like this without any evidence that it happened?

At this point, yes. "Innocent until proven guilty" plays a big role with me.
8728  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 4.15 Gh/s on: June 14, 2013, 02:02:07 AM
Quit challenging me.  I'm a type A.

If you were in Canada you'd be a "type eh..." o.o

I'd be interested if you can prove this is legit. PM me more details. NDA is fine.

I'd beware of signing an NDA though. Giving out your signature can be damaging if other information is given with it.

Does this also mean that the earnings go straight to Bitvegas instead of to a BTC payout address?

My electric is only .05 kwh.  Crazy cheap.

But yeah, it's in the formula.

That's the nutty thing about BTC, you spend half your time in excel doing math equations contemplating 1,000,000 hypotheticals.

lol, so true. My electricity is 11c/kw, Sad. You're lucky you've got it cheap!

Tom - to delete the message just hit 'edit this page', delete the text, save. Unthinkingbit shoudl get back to you soon, esp as he messaged you which is probably about your dvc address

Ah cool I was looking at the separate sub-section edit links.

I guess the address thing might be to do with me changing the payment address at the time of block 92998 or so cause I managed to mess up the devcoin client by updating net framework, so quickly installed it on my sisters pc! I've checked it and is definitely the correct one.

One thing I had wondered though: it seems to be possible to go onto another user's page and edit the coin payment address. obviously I didn't click save but is this not a huge oversight in security?
I doubt everyone checks their own payout address regularly; using a vanity address generator it wouldn't be too hard to imitate the first few characters to make the thief's address look very similar!

I'm not sure about the wallet address as I don't have anything to do with that side of things. Sounds like it should be easily resolved though.

The devtome security - yep this issue came up a while ago as a concern. From what I remember those with better knowledge than me were looking into how to change the configs to address it, along with enabling picture uploads. I don't know where anyone is with that, although I guess we'll now hear soon, but that's one of the reasons a message goes round before the final receiver file is put together to ensure wordcounts correspond to addresses which correspond with persons.

As far as I remember hearing, the address on the site is also really irrelevant since the real address is posted in the receiver file itself. If I remember right, the script ignores the address on devtome so that's really not an issue and wouldn't give anyone any benefits.

Although we do need locked user pages for sure.

This is why you should ALWAYS enable 2-step verification when available.

And it is available on Coinbase.

The crazy thing is, I have 2 step verification on my account. I should have noted that in the initial post. This is what has me worried a bit and I haven't been able to hear back from Coinbase yet.

If this is true, then either there's a piece of the puzzle missing on your end or there's something serious going on. If is it serious, they should have suspended active accounts by now... and mine is working just fine. Let's hope Coinbase has not been compromised.

Also, coinbase needs to add G-auth.

+1

No issues here yet either... I'm thinking this is a secluded problem or the OP isn't giving all the information (as we see all too often when claims like this are made). Not saying it's not possible that this is legit, but it's not likely.
8736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 4.15 Gh/s on: June 14, 2013, 01:42:03 AM
11 GPU's.

I was doing 1BTC per week.

Book payoff is the first week of July.

The crazy difficulty is going to push that back a few weeks at least.

You also accounted for the electricity, right?

xboxgames is a scammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because I messaged you about your post?  Gtfo fag

Just to throw it out there, based on what I've seen about xboxgames, he seems pretty legit. So ignore this claim against him, Smiley.

Although we can question his love for the Xbox, considering what's happening with the One...
8738  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: KH/S not showing up on multipool.in on: June 14, 2013, 01:39:18 AM
Yeah, there's a somewhat long delay between what you see and what's going on. As long as your miner is showing everything is alright, and your username/pass are right, you should be fine, Smiley.

offer me any job and i will do it for bitcoin Wink

You can do faucets and stuff for free BTC: Automatic BTC Faucet Rotator.

Is that really a good idea? How will he ever be able to spend that dust?

Yeah, you can. It's a good idea to merge the amounts every once in a while, but most sites compile multiple payouts into one before sending it to you, so you don't get a ton of transfers.
8740  Other / Meta / Re: Is This Forum Degenerating? on: June 14, 2013, 01:13:52 AM
The mods seriously need to start being more reactive and step in on this stuff. It's getting bad.

False! The lack of moderator activity is due to volume and inability to canvas. The obvious solution is allow more regulars on the forum to be moderators. When everyone has a gun, there is no violence.

There's still violence, :p. There will always be those that are mentally insane that will attack anyone they can just because.
