i got screwed over with super jupiter, i want to do something about it please help

Ah, buyer's remorse. Sorry, but there's nothing you can do. I'm quite satisfied with my FrankenJup. Why do you feel screwed?

And you are experiencing retrospective rationalization.  Why DONT you feel screwed?

I received an assembled FrankenJup and  18 bonus boards. I'm currently running 30 boards and they work just fine although I have them underclocked a bit and getting ~4.5Ths.

Yes, they were a hassle to get working properly and I do have a few bad boards. But I've been hashing with them for a couple months at much lower difficulty than the Neptunes will. I was very disappointed when they announced the bonus Neptunes after I converted my order. But I think I'll still generate more BTC than Neptune customers.

After seeing the specs on the shipped Neptunes, I am sure you will make out better than the Neptune customers.  You got a lucky break, many customers just got broken crap they have to RMA.

There were some real disasters shipped to buyers, no doubt... boards with missing VRMs and capacitors. But I also think a lot of people received FrankenJups that maybe needed some minor fixes and then would work fine.

I'm certainly no DIYer but I can reseat a heatsink, swap out fans, reflash SD cards and reconnect cables. And that's the extent of my repairs to my FJ.

But of course, that doesn't excuse KNC for engineering such a terribly designed device and packing/shipping them so poorly. They are truly cheap bastards and will do anything to save a penny. For example, I ordered a couple extra controller boards and they refused to ship the IDC ribbon cables with the boards. Kurt said I could buy them at any electronics store.  Right! If you live in Shenzhen maybe.

No there is no excuse for KNC did to Neptune customers who decided to opt for the early 3TH/s miners.  This is company who openly bragged about closing in on 100million USD in sales by June of this year who is running a datorhall that was raking in 450k USD per day in early spring this year.  They could afford to do better and chose otherwise.

You should try selling it to xstr8guy for what you paid for it.  He'll probably jump on a deal like that.

Excuse me? Do you think I'm a KNC shill or something? Of course I wouldn't pay $10,000 for 3THs now and certainly not another miner from KNC. There are far better options available today.

No but you did say you were "quite satisfied" with your SuperJupe.  Thought you might be interested in bittawm's.  There aren't better options to get 3TH by Monday.

8784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 21, 2014, 05:23:23 AM
That makes no sense.  Why would KNC says "We expect to ship to Batch 1 pre-order customers this week and to Batch 2 pre-order customers before the end of the month." in their latest posting?

https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-94

So nobody knows a real situation with litecoing hardware from KnC?

Batch 2, October 30th. Expect it no sooner or you will be disappointed

Because they're so used to feeding us crap as facts that they don't even care to proof-read their cut-and-paste lies anymore.  Classic.

Why not just keep pumping the money back into the company and receive yearly dividends every Christmas? I'm all for it Smiley keep the funds FC, make it a fatter payout at the end of the year for us lol

I actually wouldn't mind this either.  I'd like to see FC diversify a bit and start a holdings unit as a second line of business just to give us some wiggle room and stabilize prices.  What's your take on that Friedcat Buffett?

They need better customer service. Transfer of shares took 9 days last time, now transferring to havelock, which will take who knows how long. This is why they need the shares to be on havelock or counterparty, or figure out a way to make it easier for investors to trade holdings.

And dividends are a must, this is a crypto stock, very high risk. If they can't pay a decent dividend, the price should be much lower than it is even now.

A week and a half is not long at all for transferring shares.

Stocks are leading indicators not lagging.

Stock market returns are leading indicators.  Thankfully, they are not always accurate.  Let's hope they are not accurate in the case of Asicminer shares.

I don't know about that.  AM has returned multiple times the IPO price per share in the first year.   That seems a pretty good indication.  On what scale do you find that to be a bad indication?

On a scale of 4 to 0.2 I'd have to say...

The return of multiple IPO price was a long time ago and was fuelled by speculation.  Sure we got some dividends but we don't mine anymore.  Now we rely on outside expertise to make our chips into something useable.  Yeah all I can see are bulls and roses.

I have not received the refund yet nor have I received a delivery and yet they are shipping.  Does this mean I am no longer entitled to my refund?  Do statements about refunds made 6 months ago still apply?! Can you give me your analysis of this situation or would you prefer to wait until I do or don't get a refund to offer up your special brand of creeping determinism?  Please don't leaving me hanging until AFTER something happens...

That is definitely bullshit on kncs part.

I also agree that they had no chance of delivering in q1 so it was bullshit to suggest it was possible.

But you have to accept the fact that you agreed to a shitty contract with an absurd delivery window.

I accept that but I am still hopeful that one day there will be a company with the integrity to do what they say they'll do.

They better hurry up. Alpha supposedly has 250gh  shipping mid to late July.

supposedly says whom ?

"We will also be releasing a full guide on how to use the miners both with the WebGUI and without it before shipment (which will begin somewhere from the 15th-31st of July)"

Says Alpha.

They said MARCH! Then they said Q1/Q2 - in this way, people were certain to order @ $12,995 USD.
"We will ship no devices in December 2013, January 2014 or  February 2014. Meaning that once we have taken the difficulty up at the end of November we will not release any more hashing power for 3 months. We will then release our new generation of devices, which will begin shipping in March 2014. These devices will also have a much higher GH/$ rating than any of our current offerings."

If they had actually said "June", they wouldn't have sold ANY!

So a statement made 1 year ago before the announcement of neptunes somehow means a definite shipping date?

Q1/Q2 means shipping some time before july. Most people understood this but if you were naive enough to think you would be getting a neptune in march hopefully you learned your lesson with preorders.

Next time don't preorder from a company that provides a 6 month shipping window. In fact you should never preorder hardware that doesn't exist.

Well Jimmy, as I explained, I believe they were well aware of what they did in planting the seed in our minds about March.  What did that mean to you?  Nothing?  Why did they state it?  Most normal people make statements to communicate their thoughts and intentions.  Q1/Q2 actually means January, February, March, April, May, June and while I probably don't have to explain this to you, March means March.
"New generation of devices" means NeptuneNeptune being the name they gave to their next generation device.
The difference here is that I was trying to predict the future of events based on the information I was able to garner from KNCminer in order to make an investment decision while you are able to see this event as having been predictable despite there being little if any objective basis for its occurrence.  Which is probably why you say Q1/Q2 means "some time before July" and statements made one year ago are invalid since they don't fit your perception of what transpired while congratulating yourself for doing nothing and staying safe.

So, when March came and went, I requested a refund.  KNCminer had said I could have a refund "right up until shipment".

Well done KNC, you managed to ship all of Batch 1 this week as promised (i.e. Elenelen's rig).

Next week you will ship all of Batch 2 as promised (i.e. jelin's rig)

Cheesy

I still don't understand your logic. Is the joke that there are not a lot of orders due to refunds or something else?

Because when you take all the BS away and present facts, I see:

Goal:

3 TH/s Neptune by June 31st (Q2)

Outcome:

3.3 TH/s Neptune delivered June 20

Power draw .6w/GH

They literally delivered exactly what they said they would.

Additionally, aren't people getting another miner for free as well? (I may be wrong)

in CGminer I get a lot of "Failed to setwork" errors.... I think that should be solved in the next HW update  (although it doesn't seem to have any effect on the Hash rate).

Minor correction... Instead of "HW update" that should be "FW update" as in firmware.

 Yeah, you HOPE!

We need some land first, maybe we could take it with force from someone else because they are lesser than us.

Yeah and well want it to be someplace warm with a nice view.

Yeah, maybe with lots of good natural resources and plenty of space to grow. Then once we are big enough we can tell others what to do outside our own country.

Ideally, we could pretend we are exploring for our respective countries.  We can bring with us all of our disease, prejudices and laws just to get started when we find the right place.  We can even get our standing armies to help clear a place for us and once the money starts rolling in, we tell them - "Hey, we've had enough of you and your system of taxation!" and well declare independence.  Then, we'll tax the heck out of our population of investors... oh wait, if they get wind of that, they'll never invest!
8795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we all write to FBI asking not to sell bitcoins but hodl them? on: June 15, 2014, 01:24:41 PM
A little literature has appeared on blockchain.info, a derivation of Francisco d'Anconia's money speech from Atlas Shrugged to be precise.

Compared to the usual drivel left in public notes, I have to say I found this quite enlightening.  Thought it's worth a share.

https://blockchain.info/address/1i7cZdoE9NcHSdAL5eGjmTJbBVqeQDwgw

It's interesting but also as wrong-headed as Ayn's original diatribe.  Money has never been considered evil, it was the LOVE of MONEY that was and is the root of all evil.  I read Atlas Shrugged but it put me off reading for a long time.  Thanks Ayn!

yeah they too can hodl them and benefit if bitcoin goes to moon!..
no point in selling now...they too can add wealth to FBI..

maybe buy some FBI gadgets using bitcoins.

Yes they should hold them. 30,000 coins X 1,000,000 per coin in 2017 could pay down the debt by a few percent! Wink

Actually, with the national debt at 17.5 trillion dollars, those bitcoins even at 1 million dollars each would pay only 0.17% of the debt.... not even close to a few percent.   Why does the US marshals office get the proceeds from these anyway?!  If anything they should donate them to charities.

To cover the cost of doing all the arrests in the first place.

But yes more money should go to charities.

I made some first BTC trades for people if they paid charities and i gave them BTC in exchange. Nothing major like $10 here and there, but more should be done from people.

So they make money by busting as many people as possible.  Great system!  How do I get in on that action?

Start a country and start busting people for doing things you dont want them to do. Easy...... Grin

That's a good idea.  I could make millions of inane laws to enforce as well.  This is going to be lucrative!  Anyone wanting in on my IPO, I'll be listing with Havalock next week.  First thousand buyers get to create an absurd law and become honorary deputies.  30% of the take goes back into creating a larger system whereby we raid other countries and push our laws on those unsuspecting "criminals" as well. The reminder will be paid back in dividends.  Oh and by the way unregistered securities are illegal in this system... just so you know Wink
