не пойму пойму почему cryptsy.com добавляет сотни разных говнофорков, а monero не добавляет?

кто может переведите) спасибо Wink
I can't understand why is cryptsy.com adding hundreds of shitcoins, but they are not adding monero?
Can someone translate it) Thank you Wink

Those hundreds of shitcoins are all (at last 99% of them) bitcoin clones which take literally no work for cryptsy to add. The cryptonote coins use different APIs and would require effort on their part which is why they haven't added any of them.

Similarly one might notice that cryptsy doesn't honor snapshots that other exchanges routinely support. Too much work for them.

Information about Smooth Investment Fund

I've received a few questions about Smooth Investment Fund.

Answers:

1. The IPO price is 1m per share

2. The number of shares is unspecified. We are currently at approximately 1200 shares.

3. Investments may be made in cash (moneritos) or assets. Assets will be valued at their midprice in order to calculate shares. Market makers are not eligible to invest their own assets, and if I feel the asset price is being manipulated, I may refuse the investment (you are welcome to invest cash though).

4. The investment fund will use the cash generated by the IPO to buy assets.

5. Assets used to purchase shares in the IPO may be held by the fund, or sold to purchase other assets

6. The management fee is charged on price appreciation only, only once (if the price doubles, then halves, then doubles again, you are only changed the fee once), and only when a share offering or redemption (buy back) occurs. No fee is charged in connection with secondary market trading (you can sell your shares at a profit and pay no fee, though the buyer may eventually be charged a fee). Distributed dividends are not charged a fee.

Update on the Smooth Investment Fund and smooth QC IPOs

1. Smooth Investment Fund has received initial commitments of almost 1.2 billion moneritos in assets

2. Smooth QC has received an offers for 10 16 shares at a price of 2.

Smooth QC has now received bids for 91 shares (out of 100 planned to be offered) at 2.

The Smooth Investment Fund (which will receive 100 shares of Smooth QC) IPO will close simultaneously with the Smooth QC IPO. Once the investment fund IPO is closed, shares may only be purchased on the secondary market until and unless the fund management decides to open a secondary offering.

Bids will remain open for at least 24 hours.

Heads up everybody. Polo is delisting AEON. If you have any coins on there remove them by December 31

thanks smooth, but is there any point, is Aeon still being developed? Are there plans for an Aeon 'moon shot'? I got a bag, so I'm hoping some smart dudes are planning a reboot Smiley

I have no comment on this. I said earlier that it was up to the community to engage in further development activities if people want it. I took on the task of making sure that critical security issues are patched, and coordinating a few things like getting some new seed nodes working.

Request for Indications of Interest: Smooth Fund and Smooth QC

Lord smooth is accepting indications of interest for the formation and first round of shares (IPO) of an Smooth Investment Fund, to serve as a holding and management vehicle for various in-game assets. The Corporation will be seeded with assets from the personal holdings on Lord Smooth and several other characters being managed by Lord Smooth.

The fund management will be provided by Smooth Investment Management Corp (SIMC), a newly-formed corporation wholly owned by Lord smooth. Management fees will be paid as a 20% commission on net share gains realized on any future secondary offering or redemption of shares (to occur at the discretion of the fund management).

SIMC will make a secondary market in shares of the fund.

The investment strategy will be to hold a diversified basket of in-game assets, with a goal toward a higher weighting in undervalued assets. The fund will not engage in borrowing/leverage, but may invest in assets which leverage underlying holdings. 25% of dividends will be distributed real-monthly, 75% will be reinvested. This dividend policy may be changed at the discretion of management.

IPO shares may be acquired with cash, or (at the discretion of the manger) by contributing publicly traded assets which will be valued at their mid-price at the time of closing.

In connection with this offering, 20% of smooth QC (100 shares) will be floated to the public (initial price talk of 2.5/share -- please make offers), and 20% will be contributed to the investment fund, valued at the IPO price.

Information about smooth QC. We are "into the stone" and currently profitable with stone sold recently at 151 (annual revenue about 68m) and a cost of 111 (annual costs about 50m). In addition to other assets the quarry corp owns 2000 CKG valued at approximately 0.6m per share. We are scaled up for larger production and rumors indicate that far more stone is available to be quarried at the site, though this of course can not be guaranteed.

The University gladly accepts the generous gift of the strange rocks.

They will for now be stored in the archives, as they are not something of obvious interest to our Military Sciences department, but soon we will have more philosophers and scholars who may be able to make sense of them.

As far as IPs getting logged if you aren't comfortable with that you shouldn't be on a p2p network. Your IP is being sent to all the other nodes (i.e public). Nobody knows it's you though.

isn't this the reason i2p is being integrated?

Sort of. Nobody will know the IP address of your Monero node, since it will be hidden behind i2p. But i2p is also p2p network, so your IP will be shared that way!

The main reason for using something like i2p is to obscure the association between your transactions and your IP address

Here are a couple of working nodes to try. These are just regular nodes, not official seed nodes so they might not be available at a later date

--seed-node 5.9.23.116:18080
--seed-node 198.27.64.122:18080
use like
bitmonerod --seed-node 198.74.231.92:18080
bitmonerod --seed-node 182.92.68.201:18080
bitmonerod --seed-node 37.187.75.56:18080

needed: some current nodes that are stable

trouble: what if someone doesn't want to have their adresses logged in a public forum?

A set list of seed nodes isn't really needed. The default list built into the node will get fixed and until it does (or if there are such problems in the future) just get some IPs from any other user. (print_cn command on any working node)

As far as IPs getting logged if you aren't comfortable with that you shouldn't be on a p2p network. Your IP is being sent to all the other nodes (i.e public). Nobody knows it's you though.
8791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] Simple Monero GUI Wallet - Yet another Monero GUI made for Windows on: December 19, 2014, 11:06:54 PM
Can already created wallet.bin files be imported into this?

It is a script that uses simplewallet for all the actual functions, so yes. You are on your own to figure out how to do it though. I haven't tried it.
8792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin. Secure, private, untraceable since 2012 on: December 19, 2014, 08:58:56 PM
I am really eager to see something from dev team, but no news on development for so long time...
My guess is that they have given up bytecoin, they know it has no chance being a pre-mine. It would make more sense for them to build something new, from scratch / different code, and release it in a fair manner instead of updating bytecoin only to have monero clone it.

The blog is still being updated and we are heading into the holiday season. No one has given up, even the fudders are still here Smiley

The only ones still here are the independent critics and the paid marketing/shills (which includes the so-called developer blog) who probably got some kind of term contract and are running out the clock. Hi guys.

Oh come on... go check how's Monero's doing. Not so good from what I hear.

Why are you posting off topic subjects on the Bytecoin thread?

There seems to be a problem with the built in seed nodes. If you don't have a valid p2pstate file, you need seed nodes to find the network (as long as you have such as file they are unused).

Here are a couple of working nodes to try. These are just regular nodes, not official seed nodes so they might not be available at a later date

Price low,
number of bitcoin adresses all time-highish

Growth in number of address is becoming very regular though, which would point to automated generation (exchanges, mixers, etc.)

Previously the irregular variations were more of an indicator of humans activity being behind the change.
So growth=less people and
no growth=less people?

Nobody seems to want to explain why transactions is growing too.

saw the thread but never really bothered reading what's inside... but wow!  awesome idea.

one question tho, why use XMR?  why not go for BTC directly, or something with a bigger market like LTC or DOGE?  just wondering...

Better solution: make the XMR market bigger than those. DOGE is a bit of an outlier, but XMR clearly has more to offer than LTC, which is a dumb BTC clone with different ASICs. XMR has more to offer clearly.

The easiest way to find out about the forks:
https://github.com/amjuarez/bytecoin/network/members

That is not accurate. It shows forks that were done automatically, but not others. For example AEON is clearly a Monero fork, as it includes features that originated in Monero such as the mnemonic seeds (also the AEON source has Monero Project copyright notices), but it doesn't show on the above list at all. Likewise Monero isn't shown, only the abandoned predecessor bitmonero.

I like the discussion, especially fluffypony's thoughts on the utility of XMR being more important than mere speculation.
I have this thought:
Monero will be a seriously formidable currency when there are Monero forks (clones).
There are already two. They went nowhere

You thought they were just two ?

No, there are at least 8 clones :

QCN/FCN/Aeon/Duck/Dash/OEC/MCN/ORION

All DEAD in a matter of few weeks.

Two were cloned (well forked with minimal changes -- just parameters) off from XMR: QCN and AEON. The rest were cloned from other cryptonote coins, as far as I know. Dash certainly was (BCN). MCN was forked from FCN. It is possible some of the others were forks of XMR, but I'm not sure.
