It's true the internet has so much information about us and if this informations enters  the wrong hand it will be very dangerous, i don't believe that there is a safe place in the internet not at all, we are only promised a little security or privacy but not total privacy. If companies decided to release the information of its users then we would not be safe at all.

There are places that they promise us encrypted messages or activities but it's not still encrypted, it only hidden to us but to people that can access them it's not. Have you held of the dark web this place people's identities (internet activities)/information are being sold or hacked activities are being traded for money. If we read the terms and conditions of each service we use online you will find areas that they said that our privacy is determined by governments if it's required by the right authority then it will be surrendered.

Even with the suggested search engines that seems private if looked into the activities will still be uncovered.
883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey has started again on: January 01, 2024, 09:26:18 PM
In as much as you have invested in Bitcoin before but had an ugly experience I hope you have now you've learnt the necessary things that most guide you through your entire time of holding. I supposed you sold out your Bitcoin for personal reason maybe as a result of not putting other expenses in place.

Hence make your investment time more stable by having an emergency fund that can serve you well for all your necessary life activities. As time goes on prepared yourself not to be keeping you holdings on exchanges or third-parties especially when you have a good quantity of Bitcoin already even it's not too much but as soon as you have an amount that is worth more the half a thousand or less than half a thousand then you should think of having a self custodial wallet to be in control of your investment. As most have suggested you should increase your stash also be do not be in a haste for quick profit or as most people night suggest you trade don't get into gambling with your funds.

885  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: NAIJA BOARD 2023 ART CONTEST 24th DEC --- 31st on: December 31, 2023, 11:26:04 AM
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO OUR NAIJA LOCAL BOARD

Description: This art was inspired by all Nigerian (naija) local board members. Since I found this forum, y'all have been good in diverse ways, so I dedicated the art to the request of Nigerians for more merit sources. The Santa Claus in the image represents Theymos and is called SANTHEYMOS, offering Naija a local board with all that was requested using Bitcoin and Christmas packages to represent the different requests.

The house in the image represents the Naija local board, and everything else has good meanings but can't be described here.

Thanks to @1maiu, @Fivestar4everMVP @Mia Chloe (Host) @Charles-Tim @Mpamaegbu @SatoPrincess @wiwo @Majestic-milf
etc. for the sponsorship on the local board. I use my art to appreciate you all.

Since you have seen almost all the links that would have been shared here and ever young has given you a warm welcome for saying HI, you can ow lock the thread with button down bellow the thread because this kind of hi message or post pisses alot of senior forum members off. So do well to read them and adhere to the rules you will see there and don't for to lock the thread once again!
887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Single or accumulation, which one do you prefer when it comes to sport betting on: December 30, 2023, 10:50:11 PM
I just do whatever comes to me at the moment; I don't even consider it to be a choice. I utilize both, and thus I haven't actually established a formula for betting.
despite the fact that a single bet has a higher chance of winning than an accumulated bet, I only make use of single bets when my gut tells me to, and I simply add games that are comparable to my single bets when I realize that they can't pay off well. As a result, my single bets have evolved into accumulative bets. Although it very good to gamble with single bets because it very much good to profit regularly than loss often because you are chasing a very huge amount.
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I Too Broke To Own Bitcoin? on: December 30, 2023, 10:24:18 PM
I think you have gotten good advice from a few members already. You have a very good salary that I believe should foot all your bills, or are you taking care of a whole community or your entire family? that you can't hold bitcoin even with the slightest amount. Brother, you need to learn money management because if you don't know this key to success, you will probably be working from hand to mouth every time.

There are unnecessary bills that come in as a man that need to be ignored. Yes,  I'm still a kid, but I know that. You can't respond to every need, so you can split your pay differently to use a small portion for Bitcoin holding. Out of $3000, you can just use at least $30 for DCA, and if you can't still hold as little as that in your DCA, then I will suggest you just take your hardware wallets far from you so you can get them when you wish to sell and take your money. I think this will help a little, but you really need to learn money management, buddy!
889  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Board selection as a newbie on: December 30, 2023, 09:22:08 PM
After reading the rules in the forum, you can just keep learning from what others are discussing from time to time; for now, you don't need to stick to a particular board. Just keep going around and seeing things you get familiar with everywhere, but don't comment for the main time unless you know what you're talking about and can prove it very well.
There are conversations that you don't need to join; if not, it will be considered spam. Don't also argue with people; instead, learn from their arguments to keep yourself from hatred or personal attack.

I will also let you know one important thing: you will always receive bad responses from senior colleagues; it will also sound so I'll manner, but you will have to grow thicker skin not to take anything from here.
890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online or offline gambling which is more safer? on: December 30, 2023, 08:55:22 PM
For me, it's the same thing, and neither is better. If you play online, it's always for your comfortability or time factor, while if you play offline, it takes your time to visit the casino hall. Now,  people are not addicted to gambling because of the fact that they can add more money and play, but because they are either greedy to let go of their losses or because they just like playing all the time.

So it doesn't matter whether it's online or offline; it's a personal issue. If you can't control yourself to become addicted, then it's your cup of tea.
891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying and Losing My First Bitcoin on: December 30, 2023, 08:29:46 PM
Well, I haven't invested in Bitcoin yet because I'm not earning for now, but soon I will be investing a huge amount that might cover up the DCA that I wish to do since I knew about Bitcoin. I'm also happy that I learned about Bitcoin. Though the learning continues, I know for sure that I won't regret my actions because I know the risks, pros, and cons of Bitcoin investment and would not make the mistake of investing in shitcoins that will end up putting me in regret.

893  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto investment vs real estate investment : Which one more dependable? on: December 29, 2023, 11:53:42 PM
Choosing between cryptocurrency and real estate investment I will certainly suggest crypto (Bitcoin, in particular) because of your capital, which is $2500 or less. If you invest in cryptocurrency now, you stand a chance of making a very good profit in less than a year because a season called bull season is fast approaching.

Compared to real estate, you can't acquire a property for such an amount depending on your location because there are very poor countries where $2500 people could buy a property, and I'm pretty sure you're not in such a country.

So to make a comparison, you need to put everything into consideration, and if that is done, you will find out that real estate requires so much documentation and other factors, while cryptocurrency requires only a few things, like a good wallet for safe storage, your capital, and most importantly, your knowledge.
894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not everyone deserves to hear of your winning in gambling. on: December 29, 2023, 10:23:27 PM
Since individuals have diverse perspectives, it is undoubtedly their fault if someone uses information negatively. Additionally, you might not have intended for your sharing to serve the purpose that the other used it for. It's wise advice, we shouldn't share our winnings with strangers when we succeed in life, particularly if it involves money. This applies to winnings in gambling as well. It's not always a good thing since you never know what someone could think of you, and sharing it with them could backfire.
895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Must you lose before you gain in Bitcoin investment? on: December 29, 2023, 09:45:38 PM
Your friends lack the basic bitcoin knowledge hence misconception is hindering their involvement in Bitcoin therefore this narrative have to be changed.

One must not loss before you can profit from Bitcoin like others have said. if you're involved in trading of Bitcoin it's certain that you will loss even if you're an expert in the field but when you invest in Bitcoin with what you can afford to loss then hold for a long period time then you will profit certainly without losing.

Since you're here already I guess in less than no time you will have a good Bitcoin knowledge and will not longer see Bitcoin from such perspective.
896  Other / Meta / Re: Why is this forum on SMF? on: December 29, 2023, 09:18:18 PM
Recently I installed a forum for testing. I used phpbb on it but later I realised that it has a big demerit that the URL it gives does not contain the content of title of thread. I checked this forum and here also the issue is same.

Its never a demerit for this forum not including title of thread in the URL because it can still be included.

I guess we have discussed issue some time ago, it only requires the admin to do alot of work before title can be included in a thread URL. Mean while that update was only included in SMF version 2.0 hence this forum operate on version 1. 1. 19. though it can still be done but at a very high risk.

Hence I suggest it shouldn't be change anyways because there have been millions of threads since the forum was built and trying to change this just for some people could lead to a crash in the forum if not well taken care of.

If you wish to try update your personal forum you can go to admin panel: Configuration -> Modification Settings-> Miscellaneous and change it from there, but it's at owners risk.

Was this not taken into consideration while choosing forum software ? Or does it not matter much? Are there some special benefits of SMF over other popular forum softwares like xenforo or vbulletin?
Back then when this forum was created it was not yet an issues for people to include title of a thread in their URL, that update was initiated in 2010 and this forum was created in 2009 or below.

You can't compare this SMF with other forum software providers because it has a high Level of privacy that others don't have. Satoshi knew what he wanted by using SMF because even your IP address can be released to anyone not even the admin that is the level of privacy it has plus other factors.
897  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [ECONOMICS] Who's Using eNaira Here. Expect Less Cash in Circulation on: December 29, 2023, 04:37:38 PM
To be sincere I never understand this CBN news at all, because I never see anybody we dey use this enaira for business or transaction. Abi na the normal rate of transfer (online) transaction wey people dey do naim dey add up to make their statistics?
Some times the false information wey dey for news channels dey very high. I fit add this one as fake news for the main time till I get enough reason to believe the news.

Even as Charles Tim talk say for north Dem adopt am well well, e no still fit reach that level of statistics abit them dey calculate from other sour es wey we no dry aware of.

For people wey get business I dey see most of them get pos already because of the last incident of cashless policy so I guess they are already prepared for any change. And one thing wey I like about Nigeria na we fit adapt to any condition at all.
898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's Your Feeling After You Finish Gambling. on: December 29, 2023, 01:47:58 PM
I chose satisfied because I usually play with a particular amount set aside just for gambling, so as soon as I exhaust my money, I'm satisfied, but sometimes it doesn't end that way.

I usually have these exhausted feelings too, and most of the time I enjoy them; in fact, they vary depending on what the target is or the particular game I gambled on. When I gamble on sports betting that takes some time to finish, I end up feeling exhausted. But when it comes to casino games, I enjoy them, but at the end, I'm satisfied.
899  Other / Meta / Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ? on: December 29, 2023, 01:18:38 PM
Apart from being a Nigerian and wishing for more merit source, I wouldn't ask for any change in the forum yet because it might cause some bad effect which I don't know but certainly when there is so much change it could probably shift the forum from what it use to be to another whole new thing.

If only spamming, plagiarism, AI contents etc could be reduced then it should be in my agenda for next year.

This question has been asked literally every single year for almost a decade now and my answer would still be better mobile UX. The EpochTalk forum software has been "in development" since forever now though so I don't think anyone should expect a release any time soon.
I love the ideal of a mobile software and lately I have been trying to design a preview of the mobile Bitcointalk forum gathering ideals from SMF updated forums. I will certainly finish it up and upload here some day  Cool

Hello bitcointalk mermbers.
I am asking for your participation, to help the new membres to get more knowlege, and get up-dates about the crypto world
u can help by sharing telegrame groups, youtube chanel, facebook pages and groups, reddit groups, books.................... extra.

thank you

Why do you need all that when you're in a platform (forum) where the real deals lies?. You're here in the forum already and this where the ideals of books etc are gotten from, Imo you don't need those social media platforms to get updates about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency at large, because such groups or social platforms are prone to scams.

You could watch Bitcoin/Blockchain related movies in your fun times but I wouldn't suggest you get involved with any group for crypto updates.
